[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:RaviShankar'sMusicFestivalFromIndia_poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Sue Me, Sue You Blues

[edit]

Just to let you know, there's another user working on the same song, but on a slightly different titled article. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 10:28, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, nevermind. I've seen the discussion on his talk. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 10:31, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Yeepsi. Yeah, what a coincidence − and less than a day apart! As you noticed, I've added a talk on the other contributor's page, and will probably add something on both SMSYB article pages. Out of interest, instead of adding the word "(song)" to the title to create a song article, how do you go about creating a new article when the song is already automatically being redirected to an album, d'you know? (I mean, how do you get the song title appearing in red when you search, but without going through Article Wizard and then putting the piece forward to ArticlesForCreation, which I've found can take forever.) Cheers, JG66 (talk) 11:17, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... Well, for example see "The Day the World Gets 'Round" it goes to Living in the Material World, yes? At the top of the article (that is, if you've got to Living via TDTGR) there will be a note (<my term) "(Redirected from The Day The World Gets 'Round)" TDTWGR link will be in blue, click on that. It'll take you to TDTWGR. There, you can edit it. Just remove the redirect to Living if you do plan on working on TDTWGR. Then you'll on the way.
P.S. I was the one who helped move "So Sad". :) 11:34, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
Re your PS − big thanks! (Problem is, it made me lazy this time around, thinking someone would do the honours again, for "Sue Me".) And thanks for your instructions for future song articles. Great stuff. JG66 (talk) 11:46, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I'm always here to help. With "Sue Me", we'll need an admin to merge the page historys. Also, I went 'round (not the world) every Beatle solo album and made song redirects for every song that didn't have an article of its own, so have a search before creating, just to avoid any future "Sue Me"-style page creations. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 11:53, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. I think with your earlier instructions taking TDTWGR as an example, I won't be doing that again ... JG66 (talk) 12:14, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
After having another read of the message on Rlendog's talk, I see your planning to do some more George songs (which is great btw!), do you plan on doing any John, Paul, or Ringo songs? yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 13:36, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm really into the George thing, 1970 to '75 particularly − I'd like to help make all those album and song articles really good. So if there's a George link, I'll definitely work on some Ringo stuff − I've already worked on the Nilsson-Ringo movie Son of Dracula, for instance, cos George guests. (For the same reason, I've done pieces on Lon & Derrek Van Eaton, the two Dark Horse Records albums by Ravi Shankar, Ravi's Apple releases.) I'd like to do the Doris Troy album, Jackie Lomax's Apple album ... ah, the list goes on. But not really interested in Lennon or Mac, no (especially not Mac) − such ego-heads(!). JG66 (talk) 14:49, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've done the merge. I did not merge the page histories per this, but I tagged the redirect at Sue Me, Sue You Blues (song) so that it will not be deleted and the history will be preserved there. I tried to clean up the duplicate information. In most cases I think I used yours (with some additions from mine), but I used mine for the lede and the reception of Harrison's version (I think I added a line from yours there as well). There may yet be some clean up needed, but I think it is in reasonably good shape now. Rlendog (talk) 21:58, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've nominated the article for DYK. Rlendog (talk) 00:34, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, RIendog, I'm glad you did the merge and not me (followed your link, sounds complicated). In hindsight, might have been an idea to make my version the 'keep' and added in the extra details from yours, maybe. Just mention it because a few of the refs went astray somehow: all the Leng p. 127 ones were attributed to pages in I Me Mine (an interesting situation, if you think about it!). Fixed those now, but I hope they were the only ones, obviously. I've also done more work streamlining the combined article. This includes moving quite a bit of your text discussing authors' opinions down towards the end of the 'George Harrison version' section, sometimes paraphrasing the words (to avoid an unnecessary list of 'Zeth Lendy says ... Allmusic's Bruce Eder writes ...', because while critics' response is of interest, it's not as if each and every opinion is per se). Also, changed first heading to "Background and composition" and reworded that section in places (eg mostly past tense) to ensure that the focus there is very much 1971. This is in keeping with structure throughout the article, where developments are handled chronologically mostly − eg, background: late '60s Beatles context & early '71 High Court action; JE Davis version: mid-late '71/early '72 release; GH version: early-mid '73 (+ reviews up to present day); other versions: '74 tour (+ quick step back for '71 demo). I think it should make for a good piece all up. Great point you added about "Only a Northern Song", btw ... which got me thinking about "Taxman" in the same vein. Anyway, thought I should just explain my changes here; it's not as if there's room in the edit comments. Bye for now, JG66 (talk) 02:17, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use of File:LITMW publicity.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:LITMW publicity.jpg. However, there is a concern that the use of the image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the image may not meet, can be obtained by going to the image description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the image description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.

An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the image page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. We hope (talk) 12:43, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The issue isn't that it is or isn't a publicity photo but that it's non-free, or fair use. If you can find proof that it was either never copyrighted or the copyright wasn't renewed, it would then be considered a public domain image and there would be no problem. With the photo as it is now, you might do some research and include text with references regarding the publicity campaign and the use of the photo in it. Doing that--showing the need for the photo in the article (because it's non-free)--may also solve the problem. We hope (talk) 15:15, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Living in the Material World lead-in request

Hello JG. I was feeling that the lead was a bit short. There is some info that I thought could be culled from the article, into the lead - chart positions (UK/US), what one reviewer thought of the album, the '06' reissue, etc. But I wasn't sure how it could be written for the lead. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 15:35, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Next page(s)

[edit]

Hello JG. I'm wondering, what page(s) will you be creating next? So I may get the links at the ready. yeepsi (Time for a chat?/OVAR 9000!) 16:22, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JG. I've notcied (from my Watchlist) you've made a huge improvement to the Concert for BD atricle. Without looking at it I'd say it's worth a GA quality rating. Well, other articles like (among others): the Living in the Material World and Dark Horse albums could be GA. The only problem is that with making an article GA is that they have to go through nomination process/GA review, which I have been meaning to do for some time.
And thanks, I'll have a look at reassessing those other articles nows. yeepsi (Time for a chat?/OVAR 9000!) 15:32, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
When I do nominate the articles, I may need your help in case if any problems arise (most likely: sources, and/or structure), though most of the time the reviews go smoothly.
In the early-to-mid 70s, between John, Paul and George (who liked Ringo back in them days?), I've always found George's (no pun intended) material different from what the others were doing at that time. It's just a shame when George was on a high point in his career, then to be tumbled by the infamous tour (by the way, what is the official name of the tour? I've seen several names, but I'm unsure). yeepsi (Time for a chat?/OVAR 9000!) 17:05, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've nominated Living in the Material World for GA. Let's see if that's the way it goes.
I've always been stumpt when it comes to the title of the tour. I've generally called it "George's US Tour", upon finding the multiple names. Now, I have something official-ish to it. yeepsi (Time for a chat?/OVAR 9000!) 16:03, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Harrison albums

[edit]

Hi. Just thought I should get back to you about the note you left in your edit summary at Living in the Material World. The reason I added the ordinals is because it seems to be standard accepted practice to do so; in all the Beatles' album articles, for example, and I think WikiProject-wide consistency is a good thing. A secondary reason is that this guide, while not part of the MoS, has become widely established as a good standard to work from. It states as follows:

It is generally accepted to chronologically number studio albums in discographies where this would be applicable (Nirvana's debut album, Bob Dylan's fourth studio album, etc.).

Otherwise, I would just as soon not get into the debate about whether or not to count Electronic Sound and/or Wonderwall Music. A while ago, I got bold and removed the "experimental albums" field from the George Harrison template entirely. If I remember correctly, there were some (unchallenged) changes made to both Paul McCartney discography and Template:John Lennon that discarded the "experimental albums" field/section heading as well. Really the problem with it is that it's an unscientific determination. Electronic Sound is a studio recording, and it's an album by George Harrison (the first released in his name); all RS's will agree on that point. Wonderwall Music isn't really an issue, as it was a soundtrack and is counted separately for that reason.

The way I see it, the ordering listed in the lede section for each album's article (which should contain ordinals, by all accounts) ought to match the same ordering in the template. If you have a better suggestion for the template or for the ordinals, I'm open to that. Sorry to go on so long. Cheers! Evanh2008 (talk|contribs) 05:32, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Evanh2008. Yes, I hear you about the need for consistency. It's a shame that someone felt the need to remove that experimental album field from Lennon and Mac discographies, I guess − particularly with Lennon. It's just that with George's Electronic Sound, the album's such an oddity within his work as a whole, so it's pretty weird to see it in the progression of studio albums. Oh well ... PS, hey, don't worry about the long message − I'm the worst offender at that! Cheers, JG66 (talk) 07:39, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

GA noms

[edit]

Hello JG. Both LITMW and Dark Horse are currently "on hold" in the GA review. (GA review links: LITMW and Dark Horse.) This is were the aforementioned "problems" come in, I need your help to help sovle some of these issues. So far I'm working through the issues with LITMW, I haven't check the issues for Dark Horse. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 08:30, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JG. The only issue I can't get past is trying to verify something, I may have all the albums, but I don't have the books. I was goon a post a message here, about fixing some of the issues, but I ran out of time. I actually thought I mentioned that I had nom'd Dark Horse, seems like my mind is playing tricks on me...
From what I've seen, each reviewer does the GA review differently, but in the same sort-of style. I see what you mean by "suck the life out of it" - should I just let the LITMW 7-day period just go? I'm not sure about asking for a specific reviewer, I can't find anything for it, in the guidlines. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 09:42, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello JG. Yea, a later take 2 on LITMW sounds good. I'll have a look at Bangladesh (and also "Run of the Mill" & "Art of Dying"). yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 12:03, 29 June 2012 (UTC) P.S. I seem to have only gotten the notification for your message just now(?).[reply]
It seems I have been beaten to the punch for Bangladesh. I'll have a look at the two ATMP tracks. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 12:08, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again JG. I've assessed the ATMP tracks and (re-assessed) "Pity". When you say "ready to roll" for Bangladesh, do you mean it's ready for a possible GA nom? Re:your PS, you deserve all the credit for improving it greatly. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 15:07, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello JG. Just to let you know, I've gone ahead and nom'd Extra Texture. I'll have a look over it, and see if I can find any possible issues that the GA reviewer might comment on. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 18:08, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
To verify:
Under "Recording": Second paragraph, last line ("The inclusion of these two..."). Third paragraph, last line ("With Voorman choosing to...").
Under "Cover artwork": First paragraph.
yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 18:28, 30 June 2012 (UTC) (PS I've joined the first and second paragraphs, under "Cover artwork", together.)[reply]
Hello JG. Sorry about those quick copy/pasted sentences I added, my mind was all over the place. For WPBeatles, those assessment tables are controlled by bots, it takes a few days for new assessments/re-asses to appear in the table. If we can get enough Harrison albums to GA, we could possibly get a Featured topic out of them. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 09:24, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Concert for Bangladesh

[edit]

I see what you mean about that article, but I think perhaps the title should not be in italics. What do you think? I don't know how to change it, but reading WP:NAME it seems like it's driven from the infobox. Northern Arrow (talk) 19:20, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Paul McCartney FAC

[edit]

There is currently an FAC for Paul McCartney, your input there would be appreciated. ~ GabeMc (talk) 04:07, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've added summary material on Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Sgt. Pepper to the Beatles section of the article, per your FAC suggestions. If you have the time, please take another look at the article, make some comments, and/or !vote. Thanks for your input. Cheers! ~ GabeMc (talk) 02:01, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent suggestions BTW. I wasn't sold at first, but after introducing some of the material, and looking it over now, the Beatles section reads much better, and is more informative. Afterall, Sgt. Pepper, though not all Macca, was certainly his greatest inspiration during the entire Beatles era, so thanks, that might not be emphasised in the section had you not commented. Can't believe I missed that one! Well, that's what FAC is for. ~ GabeMc (talk) 05:58, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Also, it introduced a perfectly good fair-use rationale for including the Pepper cover image, originally designed by Macca, so now the section has arguably the two most iconic images of the band, on earth perhaps. Nice job! ~ GabeMc (talk) 06:00, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JG. Yea, I've seen the message on his talk. Nah, your just ringing out the old and bringing in the new [info]. (Okay, that was a bad pun.) I'm wondering, after LITMW and both CforBD articles become GA, what pages will you be working on next? yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 12:49, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello JG. When you say "so much is missing" for ATMP, what else is missing? To me, it seems pretty near-/complete. I don't mind about the second opinions. I shall be looking forward to a full blue tracklist of LITMW (should I mark the event on my calendar?), and those articles. I don't mind the half page's worth, always a good read. Oh, I forgot to mention yesterday, I had spin (who needs CDs?) of LITMW and Ex Text with the articles in mind (and the pops and cracks in my ears). yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 19:14, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello JG. Aah, the green beauty(/ies). ATMP, I feel is George's first. Not sure if you could use this, but I found (somewhere) on YouTube a convo between George and John (during the GB/LIB sessions), where George talks about making a solo album (- "Getting it out there"). If I could find it again, do you think it could be used in the article? I do recall seeing (again, somewhere) the Krishna poster, (also again) if I could find it, could it be used in the Album artwork section? Until you pointed it out, I hadn't noticed the '01 cover disappeared, if it still exists I'll add it back in, if not I'll upload it.
(Me looking at my good-ish conditioned orig copy of ATMP box set:) "Out of the Blue"* is credited to Jim Gordon/Carl Radle/Bobby Whitlock/Eric Clapton/Gary Wright/George Harrison/Jim Price/Bobby Keyes/ Al Aronowitz (<- there is a space too on the sleeve between Keyes and Aronowitz, not sure why?). "It's Johnny's Birthday"* is credited to George Harrison/Mal Evans/Eddie Klein. "Plug Me In"* is credited to Jim Gordon/Carl Radle/Bobby Whitlock/Eric Clapton/Dave Mason/George Harrison. "I Remember Jeep"* is credited to Ginger Baker/Klaus Voorman/Billy Preston/Eric Clapton/George Harrison.

I was born July '96, missed Anthology by few months, sadly. Until mid/late 2010, I hadn't (knowingly) come across any vinyl, 'till one day this guy came into a charity shop with a huge box of records. I was looking through the box and by pure luck I found A Hard Day's Night upto Revolver. Skip ahead to April/May '11, by this time I (with a little help from the people on eBay) had Please Please Me up to Let It Be, some of the 70s compilations and quite a number of the singles. Also by this time, I aquired my first Beatle solo album – Imagine – and an acoustic gutiar, to boot. Now, I've got all John and George albums, 3/4 Macca and 2/3 Ringo (his CD-only ones I'm missing!) albums (all on vinyl, course) and a Gretsch guitar (I'm sure George would be proud). Don't get me started about the rest of my collection... yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 15:54, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JG. Thank you for compliment, I'm currently working/hoping on getting Barrett's first album—The Madcap Laughs—to GA. No problem at all, about the BD image, what are friends for? RE:Madcap

[edit]

Hello JG. Thank you for making those changes, and those questions. (I didn't think about adding why he left, etc.) I'll add them later on today.

About your changes:

  • The book (The Making of The Madcap Laugh) I've been using doesn't say what instrument Barrett used when "performing" some songs to Jones – I guessed guitar, but I'm not sure if it's acoustic or electric. But yea, "on guitar" is alright.
  • Some of the info, was already there and I forgot to expanded on that, and I duplicated it by mistake. Yea that's right, Shirley and Wilson were brought in eariler, while Soft Machine were brought in towards the end of the Jones' sessions.
  • Making of says Jones was "shocked", I couldn't think how to reword it. I was meaning to move his quote under Release but I kept forgetting, thanks for moving it.
  • I'll see if I can un-bold the last one.

It helps a lot and I'm not discouraged. Thank you again for the changes and the questions. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 12:58, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JG. The duplication of material is my fault – after I had finished gathering the information, I realised the majority of it could go on the Madcaps page. If I didn't move most of it, the Madcaps secion on Syd Barrett could have resulted in more duplication than there is now. I had been meaning to do a c/e of what was left, but after Barrett got to GA, the idea forgot itself. For Wikipedia's interest, sure, I'm up for it – I've got some more Floyd books (*Sound of money here*) which could could help differate the sections. I'll ask Ritchie if he would like to help. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 14:47, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have reviewed the aforementioned article and unfortunately I have failed it. There were a number of issues with the prose and NPOV, which I have detailed at the review page. Hi JG66, how are you? I hope all is well. The reason I'm writing to you is that I am interested in tinkering away and expanding the Dylan content in the "If Not For You" article, and likely eventually, taking it to GA. I notice that you have done some work on the Harrison section of it, and that you have some Harrison GAs and GAs-to-be under your belt. I don't know whether you had any plans to do more work on the article, but I was wondering whether you had any objections to me changing the reference style used. I'm not sure what it's called, but I'm most comfortable using the reference method where blue links take you from the Notes section to the References section (it's a kind of Harvard style, but I'm not sure if there are other variations that are also called Harvard). But if you were planning to do more work on it, and have a strong opinion about the reference style, I can be flexible about that. Just let me know, thanks! Moisejp (talk) 03:45, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. As you say, it's funny we were both thinking the same thing. Don't worry, I won't mess with the ref system on "I'd Have You Anytime". Well, if you have more additions to the Harrison part of "If Not For You" I guess we'll be seeing each other again soon in the edit summaries. Take care, and thanks! Moisejp (talk) 05:12, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll have a peek around for anything about Bangladesh, but no guarantees. The real Dylan expert, who has tons of books, is Mick gold, if you can become buddies with him! I do have the Shelton book. Dunno if you've checked already, but it's partly viewable online: [1]. Apparently there are eight mentions of Bangladesh, but only two are shown in the free preview, and I suspect neither of them are what you want. About the Reviews, actually that doesn't have anything to do with "Wigwam". That means that I have reviewed 17 GAs. I don't know why they started adding that beside GA nominations. They just started doing that recently. Talk again soon, Moisejp (talk) 06:06, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I couldn't find anything useful about the Concert for Bangladesh album in my Dylan books. I also looked to see whether Clinton Heylin had anything useful to say about "I'd Have You Anytime" (because I'd remembered he has an entry on the song in one of his books) but he mostly refers to some Harrison quotes that you have already used, such as from I, Me, Mine. I added a cover version (Evan Rachel Wood) and I think I got your ref formatting style correct, but of course tweak the formatting if I didn't. I notice that Allmusic also lists versions by Ralfi Pagan [2], Champale [3] (here the songwriting is credited to Harrison / Lynne, but if you listen to the sound clip, it's definitely the same song!), Fabulous Connections [4], and Nillah [5]. Actually Nillah and Fabulous Connections there's no songwriting credit given or sound clip, so it's not impossible that these could be different songs (could require more research). I'll leave it up to you if you want to add any of these, and how you want to describe them if you do. I could go ahead and do it, but I'm not as comfortable with your ref formatting system, for one thing. I also haven't totally decided on my policy of whether to only include covers by artists who already have Wikipedia articles themselves (sometimes it's a tough call), so I'll that decision to you, too. (I hope I don't sound too presumptuous by assuming you would like to expand the Covers section. If you don't want to, of course that's fine, too!) Moisejp (talk) 18:10, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I meant to say, congrats on your latest GAs. Moisejp (talk) 18:11, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Barrett

[edit]

Hello JG. How have you been? If you're not busy, could you have a look at Barrett (album)? (Don't worry, I haven't GA nom'd it yet.) yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 20:42, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JG. I've got so many Beatle books, I actually forget which ones I have and which ones I don't. It's alright, whenever you're free, no rush. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 16:40, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello JG. The lead was one of the first things I tried to change around, it used to be two big paragraphs, I did change most of it but there was some I couldn't edit around. Madcap did have a sessions logbook of sorts to detail it (w/ Syd's thoughts/feels/comments & events during the recording, etc.), whereas Barrett didn't (it was looking similar to a session logbook) so I tired to find another way around it. For the July 1970 concert, it happened almost at the end of the album sessions, so I was unsure whether to put it in Background or Release and aftermath. A bot fixes a ref if it's one of a kind on the page (like a page number which has been used once) and has been removed (usually if it has been in the article previously). An Abbey Road equivalent of a train spotter actually sounds interesting. Apart from one more book (which literally is a session logbook of Syd's career), there isn't anything else I can add to the article. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 11:11, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello JG. It's alright. For Madcaps, producer Malcolm Jones later released a (very short) book about what happened during the sessions with comments from him and Barrett, that's why I put "(w/ Syd's thoughts/feels/comments & events during the recording, etc.)". With Barrett just having Gilmour producing, there wasn't any evidence of what Barrett was saying or feeling during these sessions, so I had only a logbook to work from. Yea, I see what you mean now about the recording details being not so notable. I've moved the "The main aim..." to the end of the first paragraph in Background. I do recalling read in Jones' book something about why EMI decided to let Barrett make another (I'll have another look at the book and find the reason(s). Madcap sold 6000 in two months, I don't see why EMI actually bothered to let Barrett do another record. Your messages are always helpful. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 21:37, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello JG. It's quite alright. I'm guessing you're not a fan of Wings? It's alright (<- I've probably said this lots more, turning it into a Wings album...), I've always found Lomax to be an oddity in the Apple catalog (trying to find a copy of the SMS single is pretty difficult, though, I've managed to find a Canadian(!) copy of the album previously). Sure, I'll review it now. Yea, life's been good, up and down as it goes. Hope life's good for you. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 14:23, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello JG. It's alright (there I go again). I find Wings (and Macca in general) okay, not as amazing as George or John. I recall somewhere that John said that Macca wrote only "pop songs", while George wrote songs "from his soul". Roughly once a month I go out to other cities, and more often than not I buy a lot of what's on sale at the record shop(s) or record fairs, it was just by luck I found the Lomax album. I haven't got those two Apple albums yet, though I've heard several songs from Encouraging Words thought they were great. I do have Postcard (in mono), James Taylor, and a Spanish(!) Straight Up. yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 13:48, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Errors?

[edit]
undid error introduced in GA review (Let It Be was not their "then forthcoming" album in that context)

Could you explain how Let It Be was not their then forthcoming album in the context of its rejection? "What would become" is entirely synonymous with "their then forthcoming". Viriditas (talk) 04:23, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Had to reinst most of pre-GAR wording in lead-in, firstly because a statement was attrib incorrectly

Which statement was attributed incorrectly? Viriditas (talk) 04:24, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

rewording by GA rev isn't necessarily supported by the refs

My Sweet Lord

[edit]

Hi JG66. About the over-linking, is it really necessary to have Harrison's name linked twice in the same infobox? I don't see how one can miss his name in the heading. It's at the top. If you look at the article for John Lennon's song "Imagine", you'll see that Lennon's name isn't linked under songwriter because his name is already linked at the main heading. Why link twice? I won't necessarily change all of the George Harrison-related articles that have this issue. That would take up a lot of time. It's just a small change. No big deal. If George Harrison's name and the album All Things Must Pass is linked at the beginning of a sentence, that is fine. Linking more than once in the same sentence is then considered to be over-linking according to Wikipedia guidelines. Would you wikilink a person's name or something twice in the same sentence? Your GA nomination of What Is Life

Hi JG66. The article What Is Life you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is very close to meeting the good article criteria, but there is one minor clarification needed. Once this is fixed I'll be able to pass the article. See Talk:What Is Life/GA1 for things which need to be addressed. Good luck Paul MacDermott (talk) 21:35, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I know it's juvenile of me, but I just had to add a glorious green "passed" symbol here and below ... JG66 (talk) 18:00, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot to say earlier, congratulations. I listed Who Can See It as a good article . Great work. Cheers Paul MacDermott (talk) 23:18, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. It looks good, but I'll take a proper look a bit later on. Paul MacDermott (talk) 16:14, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's great, I'm glad you can do it. Cheers, JG66 (talk) 18:00, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
ok, I read through it this evening and it seems fine so I've passed it . Congratulations again. Paul MacDermott (talk) 23:27, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. FAC can be a bit of a pain actually. I've taken three articles through the process so far, and it does tend to take over your life a bit. I'm fairly new to reviewing GAs, but am always willing to help so give me a shout when you have something ready. Also I'll keep a look out on GAN. ok, I'll take a look at it in the next few days. Paul MacDermott (talk) 15:15, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. I've just reviewed the article. There's still a few things outstanding from the last GA so I've placed it on hold in the hope you can fix them. I'm happy to leave this open for a few weeks as I think the article is within sight of the finishing line, and most of the points are only minor things. I'm also happy for you to take this through the Copy Edit process while the GA is open. Best of luck with it and let me know if you have any questions. Cheers Paul MacDermott (talk) 23:35, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again JG. I've taken a look at the changes you made to the article and it seems fine now so I've passed it . I tend to agree with you about the review in the lead so I'm happy for you to take that out, but there's no need for that to hold it up. I wasn't sure how it would look, but notice Layla and Bohemian Rhapsody don't have that so it's probably not necessary. You might still want to request a copyedit, but again the prose is fairly good so there's no reason to hold it up. Congratulations anyway on another good article. Cheers Paul MacDermott (talk) 19:48, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, I've just taken a look at the article and left a few comments on the review page. Generally I think it seems fine, but found one or two small things that may need to be clarified a bit further. I've also asked for a second opinion as I reviewed the page with a text-to-speech programme so there are some things it may not pick up. Mostly these are small things such as punctuation and checking the copyright status of images, so hopefully these should be fine. Good luck and let me know if you need any more feedback. Cheers Paul MacDermott (talk) (disclaimer) 14:38, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look in the next few days, probably over the weekend. Paul MacDermott (talk) 12:28, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
