Coulon
Coulon is clearly notable enough for a biography page, despite his failed candidacy.
My disagreement with GoldDragon, in this instance, has more to do with a specific choice of wording than anything else. I don't think it's fair or accurate to suggest that all of the Jewish community in Outremont was opposed to Coulon's candidacy, even though the opposition from some voices within the community was real enough. CJCurrie 01:22, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think that's probably more accurate ... I believe some of the ultra-Orthodox groups in the Outremont area are anti-Zionist, actually. CJCurrie 01:39, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Aside from that, which I don't have a problem with, the Tories in that riding were criticizing Dion's leadership skills, which a pundit suggested would not have reflected well on Coulon by association. GoldDragon 17:03, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

The now-traditional RFA thank-spam
Dear JForget,
Thank you for your participation in my RFA, which closed successfully with 83 supports, 1 oppose, and 0 neutrals. No matter if you voted (I mean, "!voted") support or oppose, I thank you for taking the time to drop by. I'm new, remember, so if you have any suggestions feel free to inform me of them, and if I do anything wrong, feel free to add to the permanent chorus of disapproval on my talk page. Re: Template:Vangel
I'd like you to take a look at this edit, by an editor who is clearly not happy with Timotab, who was the creator of the Vangel template you just deleted. Timotab left the user a notice following this edit Bolonium did to another user's userpage (see also the response by KP Botany to this tagging. Additionally, the template was substituted, not transcluded, and as such, did not have a long list of pages that linked to it. However, the template was designed as a way for users to quickly thank the hard-working members of Recent Changes patrol and vandalism patrol, and was widely used by many people since it's creation. I think the motivation of this editor in placing that template was out of revenge, and I also think it was not appropriate to CSD tag it; if they didn't think the template belonged, it should have been taken to TfD instead. I am sorry to bring something like this up on your first day, but I think you should know the background and possible motivation behind this person's tagging of it, and I'd like to see it reinstated. I know I for one, get vandalized a ton, and it is only polite to thank those who revert, and this was a wonderful way to do that. And, I've been the recipient of the template many times as well, for reverting vandalism on others' pages. Again, I'm really sorry to bring up an objection of what is probably one of your first actions, but I had posted on the talk page and it wasn't seen, so I thought I'd come here to let you know the history here. Ariel♥Gold 01:29, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. I've added information about usage to it, so users know it is to be substituted rather than transcluded, and to explain its usage. Thanks for looking into the issue! And I'm really sorry to bring something like this to you the first few hours, lol. Ariel♥Gold 01:39, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

AIV for 129.44.253.183
Hello. I noticed you removed the entry for User:129.44.253.183 on AIV, claiming he stopped as of a few hours ago. This is a case of long-term vandalism and edit warring. He insists on copying and pasting his unencyclopedic press release into the Thrill Me article several times a day. The user has been warned on all of the accounts he is currently using, and the article has already been protected for a week; none of these have worked. It seems that the only solution here is to block the accounts he is using, as nothing else is deterring him. Crystallina 18:56, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

This article previous protection expired just a mere 4 days ago. Protecting it again for another 2 weeks is quite unhelpful and would stagnate contributions from other editors who haven't even gotten a chance to contribute to the debate. Muntuwandi 01:25, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Something appears to have gone awry with your protection of the article Thrill Me. Somehow, the user who was edit warring against concensus (User:Thrillmecd) has continued editing, possibly by moving another page into its place. deletion
Hi. I recently wrote a page for a drummer named Marc Slutsky. It has been deleted and redirected to his old band Splender. You were involved in the decision for this.
I've read the discussion but do not understand the reasoning. There are SEVERAL other drummers on this site who have pages and they are not as well known as Mr. Slutsky.
For example, on the Splender page, (the one he is REDIRECTED to) there is a link the Gin Blossoms. On their page, a member of their band, also a drummer, has a link to his OWN page. This drummer, Chris McCann, has 2 sentences on his page...
"Chris McCann was the original drummer for the alternative rock band Gin Blossoms when the group was formed in 1987, He was replaced by Dan Henzerling the next year, before the release of the group's first album."
He was replaced! How could this drummer be listed and Mr. Slutsky gets a deletion notice? I had links up to his current activity...He now plays with Alexa Ray Joel (Billy Joel's daughter) who ALSO has a page on Wikipedia.
Mr. Slutsky has also toured with Gaven DeGraw.
Please help me understand why he is not worthy of at least 2 sentences on your site.
Thank You.

Black people article
I don't feel a need to dispute it being unprotected. It was a dispute among several users who insisted on drastic changes with out discussion, which lead to rv warring that really wasn't helping anything. What was your reason for unprotecting this article? It has been a constant target of driveby vandalism by unregistered users since it was started, and we worked long and hard to get semi-protection. There is no reason to feel sorry for unregistered users who use their anonymity to vandalize. Anyone who wants to be a serious editor can open an account. Please reconsider. Huh?
You speedy deleted an article recently:
Did you look in the edit history? I am not 100% certain, but I strongly suspect that the version of the article you deleted was actually a recent blanking/vandalisation. As far as I can remember there used to be a half decent article there (it is a poem by Robert Burns, much quoted in the media esp in connection with Scottish national identity or politics). --Mais oui! 09:49, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Stephanielapointe.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Stephanielapointe.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 20:25, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Advice Requested
Hey, I think I got an issue that might be needed to fix. I recently reported user Xxxxxxxxxxpt to WP:UAA because I felt that their name violated wikipedia policy for confusing names. The user Rspeer dismissed my claim as being pointless [2] and said there was no reason to block it [3].
- I just want to say that I'm not trying to insigate any wheel warring, but I don't think the decision was correct and his edit summary wasn't the best way to handle it. I just don't want to start another arguement with another user, let alone an admin. I already learned my lesson! (concerning the St. Patrick School (Wadsworth, Illinois) afd discussion). Catchphrases in Grey's Anatomy
I don't want it back (and would have voted to delete), but it seems to me that two catch phrases, 'Seriously?' and the 'McDreamy/McHottie/McMarried' theme, both of which have been parodied and used extensively in pop culture (on House, Scrubs, Colbert, as well as appearing in standup and such), are worth a small mention for their effect on popular culture of the past few years (not, I'll note, as an 'In Popular Culture' section). I have cites for how 'Seriously' came to be, and articles interviewing Rhimes about the McDreamy usage, but I'm wondering if you could, as admin, just email me the article as deleted so I can see if any of it is of use (if any of it was cited at all).
Also, just as a tip/reminded, I wouldn't even have thought of this if it the link hadn't still been in the middle of the Grey's Anatomy page, as a link in 'Catchphrases', with 'Main article: ' and a link to the deleted article. When doing AfD deletions, you also need to go through and check all 'what links here' pages and fix those, too, or the job is only half done. --Thespian 21:44, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Better deletion summaries
When you delete pages as the result of an AfD, please consider using a more descriptive summary than just "per afd". Even something as simple as "Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Captain Smirk" with a wiki link to the debate helps others understand the context so if recreated it can be speedied more, um, speedily. —dgiestc 06:27, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

How is the article coming along? I can tell that plenty of work has been done, but it would be nice to see an explicit statement of which of my concerns have been addressed on the talk page, to facilitate the ease of a secondary review.
