Colin Hatch
[edit]Hi, I have nominated Colin Hatch to be restored as the AFD result was a clear No Consensus vote. Join the discussion if you want to, Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2011_April_6#Colin_hatch.--BabbaQ (talk) 18:33, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
Defense news on Wikinews
[edit]I've noticed that there is little, if any, reporting on defense-related news on Wikinews. Is there a systemic reason, as in it's not alloowed, or is there an oversight/no one has bothered reason? Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 01:30, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- Writing copy isn't my strong suit. Actually, I've been trying to interest User:Hcobb in rinting for Wikinews, per my comments here. Much of his contributions are borderline violations of Not-news, and he's quite prolific at it. (he even has a list of his "favorite" rejected edits on his user page!") He's able to dig sources up from almost anywhere, and I do think he'd be a good candidate for Wikinews. - BilCat (talk) 23:56, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
Featured article review Hamlet chicken processing plant fire
[edit]I have nominated Hamlet chicken processing plant fire for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Brad (talk) 09:38, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
- Are you aware of any updates on the plant and the new construction? The article is badly out of date.Wzrd1 (talk) 02:45, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you for your offer. You may want to have a look at the list of historical monuments of Strasbourg on the french wikipedia. See also the Wiki Loves Monuments photo contest on commons. Regards, Comte0 (talk) 13:09, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll be sure to take a look at those in good time before I depart. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 19:17, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- You're welcome. Remember, there is no Freedom of panorama in France, monuments younger than 70 years old are still under copyright. However, after having looked at a few notices, I don't think this applies here. Regards, Comte0 (talk) 21:35, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
Common.css
[edit]What is the point of MediaWiki:Common.css/User:Brian McNeil and MediaWiki:Common.css/User talk:Brian McNeil? As far as I can see, they don't do anything, and per WP:SMI, it's probably good that it doesn't work. Ucucha (talk) 13:44, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- Why are you asking me what they do? I have no idea. Perhaps you should ask the user who wrote them and requested they be imported.Edit: After several attempts I can't think of any way of phrasing that that doesn't sound more uncivil than I intend. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 16:59, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Because you made the edit, and you are responsible for your own edits. In any case, I'll ask the user. Ucucha (talk) 17:04, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed; and I responsibly decided that I trusted the user enough to allow them to take responsibility for the Common.css of their own user and talk pages. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 16:51, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

MSU Interview
[edit]Dear Blood Red Sandman,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk)23:27, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

The article claims 28 fatalities but the only source cited in the article Aviation Safety Network indicates no fatalities. Other aviation websites (planecrashinfo.com and [airdisaster.com are both in error. Flight International (at flightglobal.com) indicates that there were no fatalities reported at the time of the accident. Furthermore, the accident in question is not listed in a summary of 1977 fatal accidents while it is listed in a summary of non-fatal accidents.

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity
[edit]Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e. as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised, that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions, and that you have not been inactive for a three year period of time). If you remain inactive for a three year period of time, including the present year you have been inactive, you will need to request reinstatement at WP:RFA. This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. - Whilst I'm delighted to see a bot is now looking out for such things, I can't help but think such a convuluted message for a single missed character is slightly counter-productive. I understood it. Fire disasters involving barricaded escape routes
[edit]I looked over the 2009 CfD, and I noticed you were the creator. I am concerned that fires such as The Station are in a list like that because 1) they had adequate emergency exits, 2) none were obstructed, and 3) saying they had barricaded exits might constitute a BLP problem - a contentious and potentially libelous statement. The owners and operators of many of these places did not barricade or lock the exits. I don't mean to dig up old dirt (or whatever the phrase is), but I think this needs to be addressed. What about "Fire disasters involving restricted exits"? An exit can be restricted by a human pile-up blocking the door, which did happen at The Station. That's pretty much going to be the case whenever there aren't enough exits too - a progressive crowd collapse (human pile-up) will block the passageway. Same thing with overcrowding, again, like at the Station. Dcs002 (talk) 05:18, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:40, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:34, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
Hi. This month The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There is over £3000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. Wikimedia UK is putting up £250 specifically for editors who produce the most quality new women bios for British women, with special consideration given to missing notable biographies from the Oxford Dictionary of Biography and Welsh Dictionary of Biography. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate independently this is also fine, but please add any articles created to the bottom of the main contest page even if not competing. Your participation in the contest and contributing articles on British women from your area or wherever would we much appreciated. Thanks.
The article Atanas Todovichin has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (biographies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
