Another Userfy Request

Hey J. I have another userfy request for you. A user left a message on my talkpage asking that a page he created called "the ballad of peeler the big" get restored (I assume userfied) or e-mailed to him at chiclorraine@gmail.com. I searched and couldn't find anything under that name but did find a deleted page called Peeler the Big from 2006, which was deleted under 5 different CSD criteria. The request came from User:92.63.105.66 What do you think? HarlandQPitt (talk) 22:07, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

I'd say ask him to create an account first. Generally, IP subpages are discouraged, and in any case, IPs can't even create mainspace pages, much less move them. J.delanoygabsadds 19:06, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Just a note...

I saw someone create User talk:J.delanoy/unprotect in your user talk space... an IP reminding you that your user talk page has been protected for nearly a month straight. The Thing // Talk // Contribs 07:34, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my userpage. I've had it vandalized several times over the past few days as a result of my counter-vandalism activities. What's the policy on protection of userpages? --N419BH (talk) 01:44, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Why were my references to existing articles deleted?

I was adding a valuable new resource to add to the quality content of articles about Fender and all of them were deleted, why?

This is not spam or an advertisement, I added them to only the vintage Fender pages as each one of those subjects, people or guitars is referenced in this book.

Fosterwikiterry (talk) 23:33, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

You at one point added links to Amazon, which is spamming. Also, adding links to that many articles that fast looks like spamming even if it is not intended to be. Your book came out this year. You should wait and let others add it to the articles. J.delanoygabsadds 23:35, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Can you kill only the ones with links to Amazon and leave the reference? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fosterwikiterry (talkcontribs) 23:36, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Why do you want to add your book as a reference to all those pages without using inline citations to explain why the source is relevant to each respective article? J.delanoygabsadds 23:41, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Much of what has been written on those pages is slightly incorrect. I wanted to point to a well researched (10 years in the making) book with verified facts etc, so that wikipedia contributors who use the book (or Richard Smith's book) as a reference can clean up many of the inconsistencies already there. Fosterwikiterry (talk) 23:45, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Inquiry Regarding Alleged Edit

I received a message from you March 13, 2009 regarding a supposed "unconstructive" edit on a specific article.

The Message reads as follows:

'Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to the page Hen. Such edits constitute vandalism and are reverted. Please do not continue to make unconstructive edits to pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. J.delanoygabsadds 00:54, 13 March 2009 (UTC)'

I would like to know the specifics on this, as these accusations are false, being that this is a password-protected network with few machines running on it; all monitored by myself.

If, indeed, there has been a breach in our network, then it is of the utmost importance that I know as much information as I can gather on this situation.

Thank you for your cooperation —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.235.4.171 (talk) 08:47, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Here is a link to the edit in question. Considering the length of time that has passed since that edit was made, I think it is likely that your ISP has reassigned your IP address to you from another person, who is probably the one who made that edit. Your advice is needed

Hi J Delanoy

I and one of the other admins have a gut instinct that User:Chryed might be a sockpuppet of User:The Twelfth Doctor aka User:The Queen Victoria aka User:Archie Mitchell. The trouble is that we don't really have enough evidence to say for certain, I would be dubious about raising an SPI for it in case it is seen as bad faith. I thought I'd ask your opinion on this because I notice that you were, I think, one of the checkusers involved in one of The Twelfth Doctor's SPIs. Do you reckon that this could be the same editor? --5 albert square (talk) 21:55, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Are there any specific edits/patterns that are striking you as significant? Or is it more of an overall impression? J.delanoygabsadds 23:12, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

"I know some, if not all, the people you blocked. They live all over the country. Most of them are former military officers who served together in Somalia when non-lethals were first used." --Timeshifter (talk) 15:41, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Avoiding confrontation

As I am currently attempting to avoid confrontation, and situations that might lead to confrontation, I am hoping you will take a look at this talk page comment and perhaps help defuse this situation before it gets out of control. Apparently, I had a disagreement with this editor in the past---I had no recollection of it whatsoever, and it was not, in any way, a motivating factor in reverting this editor's changes, nor was it on my mind when I left the message on the talk page---involving the Michael Collins article (I had to search back through the history to find it since it was last September), and since that time, I have had no further contact with this editor. This talk page comment seems designed to elicit a response from me, and I am not going to rise to the provocation. Would you mind stepping in, please? Thanks. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 05:19, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

CU review

At this SPI case you came back with a "likely" result instead of a "confirmed" result on User:Sally Jefferson. If it's not invading privacy could you go into why you didn't say "confirmed"? The user is requesting an unblock and I would have declined it outright if it weren't that this was the only account you didn't say "confirmed" on. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 16:31, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Um, I just realized it was Risker that said this, not you... I fail. Sorry! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 16:56, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi, can I ask you to take a second look through this? Since the IPs edited on the same range isn't that proof enough that they are likely sockpuppets, through the elance connection? The same elance user has responded to edit requests on different articles, and their editors now are found to use the same IP range... how is that anything other than sockpuppetry? Also, can you check the range against the IP addresses used by Desiphral in the SPI page archive to see if they are from the same range as well? If they are I'd say its a pretty clean connection back to Desiphral, since all the users would share the same modus operandi (editing through paid-requests on elance) and IP range. There are only a handful of people who take up these elance jobs and only one so far has been from Romania. ThemFromSpace 18:36, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

To answer your first question, there are a LOT of accounts editing from that range. I've seen some where almost an entire country edits from like two /16s. I also did check it against what older accounts, but that still does not help me because there are so many people editing from the range. Also,  Inconclusive only means that the data is ambiguous from a checkuser standpoint, and does not necessarily mean that the accounts are unrelated or related. J.delanoygabsadds 19:22, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for doing the CU on the above. I just happened to check out one of the IPs I reported and noticed that they had previously been blocked under Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Smfhs photographer. It seems pretty clear that this is the same sockpuppeteer so the pages should probably be combined. Cheers. Quantpole (talk) 07:44, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, I thought that at first when I saw it, but the IP is registered to the Ohio Public Library Information Network, so I am by no means certain. J.delanoygabsadds 18:52, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey J, could you take a look at the WABC-AM page and also here, here and here (all somehow related though TV stations) and let me know exactly what I should do in this situation. - NeutralHomerTalk20:43, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Um, what exactly is going on? J.delanoygabsadds 20:56, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, there was some vandalism (I thought) on the WABC-AM page by an anon and User:Necrat removing information about the HD2 signal to the station. They claimed there wasn't an HD2 signal (and claimed AM radio didn't have HD radio subchannels) and backed their claim up with a claim of "13 years in radio engineering". User:AGK essentially told both of us to knock it off and that policy was on my side, but neither of us were sourced (which I admit).
Later, (and I thought at first unrelated) User:Drmies was removing on-air staff sections from television station pages (Example). I reverted and told him that it would need to go to talk. Drmies claimed he been looking in on the Necrat situation and I was being unreasonable. It turned into a pissing match, which ended with alot of sarcasm and some ganging up from Piano non troppo, who also supports removing the on-air staff sections. Neither of them will take it to WP:TVS or WP:RFC, they just want to delete. They also think I need to be controlled and my ANI abilities removed or something (see my talk page for that one). It is alot of pissing and moaning from all sides (I am even throwing myself in there too) and I just want it all to end and obviously an admin is needed. - NeutralHomerTalk21:08, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Also, see here from ImperfectlyInformed. They jumped in on this as well. - NeutralHomerTalk21:10, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
