A welcome from Sango123

[edit]

Hello, Iwalters, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We're glad to have you in our community! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful.

Happy editing!

P.S. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you need help with anything or simply wish to say hello. :)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. While the Wikipedia community appreciates your obvious efforts to increase the amount of information on the site, we'd like to point out our policy against original research and for citing sources for the information you provide. This increases the reputation of Wikipedia as a whole and aids in checking the factuality of that article. Thanks...KHM03 03:35, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Invisible Pink Unicorn

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I removed your long comment from the Invisible Pink Unicorn talk page, and I wanted to let you know why. Article talk pages are for discussing the article, not the subject of the article generally. There are many other places on the Internet where you could post your views on theism and its alternatives. If you have thoughts on how to improve that article, that would be something that could go on that talk page. Regards, Jonathunder 04:26, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia's guidelines on what talk pages may be used for. -- Jeandré, 2006-02-12t15:44z

Judas

[edit]

Hi, could you please cite the sources for your edits to this article. They seem highly biased, and don't appear to be based on academic considerations.

For example you removed the text "The text is probably a translation from Greek" with the edit summary "how do you know its translated from greek? where is the greek version? When it turns up then add this to the article".

This appears to demonstrate absolutely no awareness of how textual criticism works. It is possible to tell the original language of large works due to ideosyncracies of the language. For example, poetry that rhymes tends not to rhyme once it has been translated. If we suspect it was written in one language originally, and it rhymes in that language, but not in the languages it currently exists in, then this increases the plausibility that it was originally in that language.

We have no copies of the Gospel of Matthew written in Hebrew or Aramaic, except those written many centuries later in modern times, so we could say "Jesus spoke Greek and didn't know a word of Aramaic", and that Aramaic Primacy was a completely ridiculous argument that would get yo thrown out of your degree for trying to advance. If we followed your argument. But we don't.

Please take care to provide citations for your edits to this and related articles in future. You appear to be completely ignoring both academic articles on the subject matter, and instead presenting original research (which is not permitted in wikipedia). AfD Nomination: Constance Holland

[edit]

An editor has nominated the article Constance Holland for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Constance Holland. Add four tildes like this ˜˜˜˜ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article Constance Holland during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. about your sources for Royal family etc.

[edit]

I see you are planning to do a number of these. The online peerage you used is not totally reliable, as it has been abridged. Watch out for "+" signs--they indicate additional children. The articles are likely to be deleted unless you add historical context, making clear why the person is important. Shouldn't be hard. I wouldn't be surprised if someone looked at related articles. I helped out a bit here, but I can't keep up with all this is addition to my regular stuff (I mainly watch out for academics). Hint: many of the people you are listed will be mentioned in one of Shakespeare's historical plays. Certainly the male characters will. Find and add the citations, it will really help. The women in particular will be a problem, "wife of" does not count for much in WP. DGG 21:05, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You've been loved by IShadowed

[edit]
Hey there! IShadowed has loved you by placing a heart icon in the top-right corner of your userpage. Don't worry, it's not vandalism, but simply a small way to spread the WikiLove. If you don't really like it, feel free to revert it and make it go away, and no hard feelings; after all, it's just a small token of appreciation. If you like it, just add your name here, but again, there's no need to feel upset if you don't. Love and best wishes,  IShadowed  ✰  03:32, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MoS

[edit]

Hey there, thanks for your contributions for Wikipedia. Unfortunatley several pages that you have created recently (for example ‎William Wirt Watkins, ‎Hugh French Thomason and ‎Thomas Neville Waul) do not conform to Wikipedia's manual of style. I reccomend, before you create any more articles, you flick through the MoS, but more importantly here, as the formatting of the references you are citing is incorrect. Thank you. WackyWace you talkin' to me? 17:36, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, it isn't. The standard way to reference an article is to have inline citations and a {{reflist}} tag at the end of an article under a references header. WackyWace you talkin' to me? 17:54, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Politicalgraveyard.com

[edit]

Hi. I just came across one of your stub articles. It's always good to see people working to "grow" Wikipedia content on some semi-forgotten topics.

I notice that you are relying heavily on politicalgraveyard.com as a source for articles. Although there's a lot of good content on that website, unfortunately it's not generally considered to be a reliable source -- and Wikipedia does not reliable sources to ensure verifiability of content. Articles based on unreliable sources like politicalgraveyard are liable to be challenged or deleted. I've found, however, that the information on that website often helps me to locate other sources that do qualify. (That's what I did with William Henry DeWitt, which was one that you started as a stub.) I hope you will start doing the same sort of thing. Thanks! --Orlady (talk) 00:27, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ermadean Walters has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Deletion discussion about Barbara of Karniów

[edit]

Hello, Iwalters,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Barbara of Karniów should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Barbara of Karniów .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Speedy deletion for Colin John McRae because Colin J. McRae is longer and more referenced

[edit]

Hello. I added a speedy deletion to an article you created, Colin John McRae, because Colin J. McRae has many more references. I'm sorry I didn't realise the article you created in 2010 already existed when I created the other one in 2013. However, the one I created is more fleshed out, so it would make sense to keep just one. Or we could redirect Colin John McRae to Colin J. McRae. I don't know how to merge articles. I think a speedy deletion is just as good perhaps. Btw, very interested in working with you on more Confederate articles in future.Zigzig20s (talk) 09:26, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. James Lyons -- Confederate Congress

[edit]

I've contributed additional information for the James Lyons (Virginia) article, and upgraded it to Start Class. With two references and a portrait, should it now be C-class?

I am interested in the intersection of the delegates to the Virginia Constitutional Convention of 1850, the Virginia Secession Convention of 1861 and the members of the Confederate Congress from Virginia -- all of it including the western counties. So far I am only about one-third through the delegate list of the 1850 Chart of Delegates.

Any suggestions or contributions you may have would be welcome. TheVirginiaHistorian (talk) 08:04, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Nitti: The Enforcer, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Bruce Kirby and Mike Starr. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article Panic (2002) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NFILM due to no WP:RS

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. shoy (reactions) 20:02, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Henry Marshall (politician) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Henry Marshall (politician), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Boleyn (talk) 07:02, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Iwalters, thanks for your message. The article had no references at all. It had 'external links', which means 'suggestions for further reading' but no indication of what sources had been used. Those listed at 'external links' would not have been considered great sources if that's what they were, especially findagrave. Its notability is also not clear. If you disagree, you can revert, but I think the best option would be to look at it in draftspace and add references, preferably WP:INLINECITED. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 16:54, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Murder she wrote: list of episodes

[edit]

Dear I just noticed you have reverted my short summaries of Murder she wrote-episodes. Can you explain me the reason? These summaries are not copy/pasted from any other source and for some episodes there were already short summaries described by other users. I think I have seen every episode of it (even more than once) as almost each day vtm, a Belgian national television station, airs an episode. When the series is completely aired, they just restart with episode 1Ino mart (talk)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hendrix (film), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Showtime (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).
