You deleted this page citing Blatant copywrite infringement. This is incorrect. There was hardly anything on the page and everything was written from scratch. Please restore this page or at the very least restore it and only remove the bit you think is an infringement so it can be seen what you were refering to - why did you remove the whole page? --Hontogaichiban (talk) 04:35, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- The writing "from scratch" was identical to this. IrishGuy talk 05:05, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
No it wasn't, well not the last time I looked at it anyway. Anyway just for the sake of argument I will re-create it, as it was only a couple of lines anyway. NB There was a link to the web site you mention, but no text had been copied from it. (well not by me anyway).--Hontogaichiban (talk) 18:50, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Rude false remarks
I wrote an article about Margareta Svensson. It upsets me that it is deleted, but even more so that there are harassments from so called administers that apparently can say whatever they like, with no knowledge at all and no interest in finding out either. THOSE FALSE ALLEGATIONS will be what people will read about Margareta Svensson, not her extraordinary international career as a singer-pianist. There was NOTHING in that article that wasn't true, and if you administers were half-way professional you would find that out.
I had written I think three sentences when I had a message that she was not notable. And yes I did delete that message, and I only deleted that ONE, because it was not relevant. To quote yourself: "personal attacks will be promptly removed" The article was not up. I couldn't imagine that someone who could write such a rude false remark after me having written almost nothing at all, could be favored. Is Wikipedia a game to see who can stand unfair beatings and just turn the other cheek?
I may have made the mistakes of creating an account with the name Margareta Svensson, because I thought that was how it was supposed to be done. And I also uploaded much before it was the final article, because I wanted to see that it worked. I didn't think anyone was that interested in my work that I got a comment long before I was done. Another lengthy rude comment, complained how I had worded a sentence, and I made changes to accommodate.
One comment that it couldn't be valid because references were in Swedish - I must say that arrogance does not even begin to describe such a comment. English is the language that is used by the world, but most people in the world does NOT have English as their first language.
It seems that administers are people with too much time on their hands who have nothing better to do than to quickly, within minutes of first activity, beat a new person down with rude, false remarks. Shouldn't you be interested instead? But being mean may be how you get your satisfaction? You are no better than bullying kids on the playground.

Any chance of Cortex Command being reopened for edits? Thanks, Aiabgold (talk) 19:07, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for the prompt reply...I'm a little new to editing on wikipedia, where would I find the guidelines for notability? In addition, does the development status of a project determine it's eligibility on Wikipedia? I think I've seen other beta status projects elsewhere here...Thank you! - WP:NOTE is what you are looking for. As for other beta releases, sometimes if the company producing it is notable, the product can be. In tis case, the company making Cortex Command doesn't meet WP:CORP. IrishGuy talk 23:24, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Please help
Hi Irish Guy,
I hope you're having a Happy Thanksgiving and spending time with your loved ones. When you get a free moment, would you please look at the article for cinematographer Dean Cundey? Before I started writing it, there was very little information on him. I've added to the article and, though I may be a little biased, I'm proud of it. I think it's good.
The trouble is, when I completed the article, the filmography section as well as the reference section went away. I swear to you that all I did was write the article. I didn't delete anything.
If the article is edited, you can see the filmography and reference section on the editing page, but not on the article itself.
Can you help me with this? Even if it means editing the article, that's fine. I just want readers to know what he's done in film.
Thank you so much for a moment of your time. I appreciate you. Have a great day!

Page deleted within minutes of starting to create it - by you?
I was creating John Cripps Pembrey Snr but it was tagged for speedy deletion by a robot within about two minutes of starting, and then disappeared just as I had got it into shape. All within about five minutes and just as I was about to add the 'hangon' tag with reasons! Surely this is not right - I'm angry at the way my efforts were wasted so curtly.
The reason given is blatant copyright infringement, but I had created an intro that was entirely original. I did this by first copying a large amount of material from a website (actually at the request of Tim Pembrey) and then taking out stuff inappropriate to Wikipedia. The bot labelled the reason as 'no reason for notability given', but I had given what seemed a pretty good reason. Is this something to do with the order in which I created the page, or the fact that for a brief while it appeared as a copy of a webpage. Even given this fact, surely I should get the chance to state that I do so with permission (I have e-mails) etc. What do I have to do? Make a perfect page in ten seconds before you can get to it!?
Can I have it back please? --Memestream (talk) 20:21, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- It was deleted as a copyright infringement because it was taken from a website. Please read WP:COPY for more information. If you are creating articles about the Pembrey family on behalf of a Pembrey member, you have a conflict of interest. IrishGuy talk 20:23, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Yesterday I created Marcus Seymour Pembrey, another part of this notable family and it very nearly went the same way, but someone blocked deletion. Take a look. It's a perfectly good page is it not? Hi Irishguy,
You said "Why do you keep changing mainstream Christians to Protestants? I believe that is biased from a protestant view point, because Catholics do not consider themselves protestant. "
You are mistaken, I made no such changes. Here are the changes I made:
- The Catholic Church sometimes called the Roman Catholic Church
- The worldwide Catholic Church is made up of one Western or Latin and 22 Sui Juris Eastern Catholic autonomous particular churches. The Pope, College of Bishops and Ecumenical Councils provide Pastoral and church governance.
I don't know who made the changes you accused me of makeing, but it wasn't me. I hope this helps clear up the misunderstanding.
Best Regards —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rbushlow (talk • contribs) 20:30, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- The article is entitled Roman Catholic Church. To change the opening sentence away from that terminology simply because you personally prefere another is a POV edit. Stop. As for your second edit, the reference itself uses the wording you continue to edit away from. If something is referenced, it must be worded according to the reference. IrishGuy talk 20:33, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

page removed - Susan and the SurfTones?
Hello, I am in the process of creating the page. You deleted it, citing "copyright infringment" which I do not understand - can you explain?--Theavory (talk) 18:55, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- It is a simple cut and paste from a website. That is a copyright infringement. IrishGuy talk 19:01, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
I am the original author of the website. Also it was re-written/edited and not taken word-for-word. I also had a hangon tag and message indicating I would be providing further citations. As this group does meet the criteria for "notability" can you suggest how to start an entry and not get flagged for removal immediately? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Theavory (talk • contribs) 19:11, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- If you are the original author, that you are Susan...which means you have a blatant conflict of interest. Wikipedia is not a venue for you to advertise yourself. IrishGuy talk 19:24, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
No, I am not Susan, and she is not "advertising herself." It is an honest effort to include an entry for a group that has at least as much significance as many similar entries, and a worldwide following. Although I was striving for factual and neutral stating of the facts, I will re-work the entry and try again sometime. --Theavory (talk) 19:37, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- The website the article was taken from clearly states it was written by Susan and some of it is in the first person. Above you claim that you wrote it...and you claim you aren't Susan. One of these things cannot be correct. IrishGuy talk 19:45, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh, sorry; unclear - I am the "webmaster" of that page. I'm not Susan but I worked with her in writing the passage in question. I meant "I am the author" in the sense that there is no copyright violation in question. However I can see the concerns of "conflict of interest" vis a vis Wikipedia. Just wanted to be clear this was an honest effort and no attempt to misuse Wikipedia. Thanks for responding so quickly btw. --Theavory (talk) 20:01, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Page deleted - confused as to why?
Hey, just confused as to why the page "Reznick Group" was deleted. I modeled it after an existing page "Grant Thorton LLP" and kept the text from being promotional. The awards are there because there were awards on the other page. Those can be removed if it is thought that that is being advertising in nature. I'm simply trying to make a page that talks about this company. Please direct me on how I could make this page without it being blatant advertising. I don't believe I have any spamming, and I think it is in a neutral point of view. I'll recreate it and put the hang on tag, so that you can look at it.
Thanks
AsianBrad (talk) 22:15, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- The whole article was promotional. With lines like:The mission for the approximately 1,450 employees of Reznick Group is single-minded: to serve its clients' needs by providing them with the industry expertise, quality work product, objective and sound business advice they value - to help their businesses succeed. there was nothing encyclopedic about it. Wikipedia is not a venue for advertising. IrishGuy talk 22:17, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
I did think that might have been part of it, and deleted it upon recreation. Did you look at the recreated page? If there is anything else that needs to be changed, please let me know. Again, I modeled this after an existing page about a similar firm. A brief summary, followed by locations, then the history, and an award section. I just don't see why if one page similar to this can exist, this one can't. Please help me to understand. I am not advertising, but adding content to Wikipedia. AsianBrad (talk) 22:26, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'd advise you to read our rules on company articles for guidelines. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:29, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
I already did, after the first deletion. I do not see anything wrong, but I am new and could be missing something. The page is all facts. Just information: names, dates, locations. AsianBrad (talk) 22:40, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- Facts and notability aren't the same. Wikipedia is not a venue for you to promote your company. Please stop. IrishGuy talk 22:41, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Seriously, I'm not trying to promote it. What's the difference between Grant Thornton LLP's page and Reznick Group's page? AsianBrad (talk) 22:47, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I noticed that you added several infoboxes to film articles that needed them found on the Template:WikiProject Films tasks. Hi Irishguy, you might want to reconsider semi-protecting The Mars Volta for about two weeks instead of a day. You semi-protected The Bedlam in Goliath for a day yet the spammer immediately returned after the unprotection. I made a report about him at Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/IP_check#Europebound2007. Yea, is it that big of a deal? A lot of shows have their full episode lists on Indy Mogul, it isn't a matter of advertising it, it's just a place to keep all of that information.CricketEater 02:08, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Again, this isn't a venue for advertisement. Having links to the official website, the YouTube channel and the Vimeo Page is already more links than necessary. Adding a link to every YouTube episode is ridiculous. IrishGuy talk 02:10, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
It's not that ridiculous. Wouldn't simply taking the links off be more hepful than just deleting the whole list? Someone worked hard to make that list and you keep taking it off. How are you helping? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.73.225.12 (talk) 02:14, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
and if you look they aren't youtube links they are to the actual site where the episode is from. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.73.225.12 (talk) 02:17, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Dim but trying...
I found your comment here [1] very interesting but it also made me feel stupid for not coming to your conclusion, despite its obviousness. I'm curious whether you think my sockpuppet report has any merit or whether I'm, um, being a dick. The response from others has been deafening silence for the most part and I'm a little unclear whether it's just too much trouble for people to duplicate my process or what. It's unfortunate that it's not just a matter of diffs for proof and perhaps people don't like to commit to interpreting this kind of evidence. Although I have to say it seemed rather clear when I did the comparison. Any thoughts? Pigman☿ 00:37, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think what you have compiled is devoid of merit. That being said, it is circumstantial at best. With nothing resembling a smoking gun it is merely conjecture. IrishGuy talk 00:51, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I wanted an opinion and that's kind of what I expected given the lack of feedback from others. Cheers, Pigman☿ 02:25, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Prisoner edit
I was suprised that you removed my comment as "unsourced personal interpretation." Surely the quotation from arrival was enough source to catch the implication...? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.99.75.168 (talk) 04:44, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Never mind (The Prisoner)
I went looking for source on what I p[osted. I have watched "Arrival" several times, and I would still swear that Number Two says of Chambers, "And sooo taut!"
But I found a script on a German site, and lists the quote differently. Perhaps there was a "skip" in the print I taped off of A&E, and it only seems as though #2 says what I thought he was saying.
"Nummer Zwei:
A most important day, remember? Getting ready to meet Chambers. About to become late of the Foreign Office. You were, er, hoping to persuade him to change his mind, before the big boys found out. You waited and waited, but he never turned up. A nice guy, Chambers. And so talkative." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.99.75.168 (talk) 05:35, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

- I have once again restored the article, left a (hopefully) more descriptive comment and noted on the talk page for the article. Perhaps you might confine your zeal to revert edits, even those by IP-address users to subjects you actually know something about. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.173.243.2 (talk • contribs)

Bud Cort
Hello Irishguy,
I check here to see new updates on a regular basis. I enjoy reading what other Bud Cort fans can find about his career to share with me and other fans of his that I don't find and contribute first.
My fan site has been around for about 10 years, first under the ownership of the founder of it, Ms. C. Rogers, and since 2002, by me. I have been a fan of Mr. Cort's since the 1970s, and I have made contributions and corrections here and at IMDB pertaining to Mr. Cort's career. I also got to meet him this year and from his lips, he has told me he is aware of my site and that it is well-informed and respectful of his private life.
If for no other reason, my site should have a place here as a major resource on Mr. Cort's career, as it is the only one on the internet dedicated to him and is the most informative one in the way of articles about and interviews with Bud Cort. I spent countless hours on the internet, time at libraries, and money on reference material, such as films, TV interviews, etc., to make me practically an expert on one of my all-time favorite actors.
I understand the nature of research and for sites like this one, even with the disclaimer, I think it is unfair to keep making changes to the content, as in the recent removal of the reference to Mr. Cort's near-fatal car accident in 1979. I put in a lot of time to write my biography for him, but the change you made is one of my pet peeves regarding Wikipedia, as those 3 sources don't even scratch the surface of information about Mr. Cort's career, and the Roseanne talk show reference was one of THE WORST ones you could have sited for information. (The WHOLE interview, by the way, is listed in transcript form at my site). I am very proud of all the work I have done for my site and I list all the resources I got information from at my site, and for this fact alone, I will be reinstating it, and re-revising the biography.
Mr. Cort is an underappreciated and underused actor, and he deserves not to have his content here fiddled about at whim. I can understand updating the information about his recent appearances/performances, but as yet, there is no other information that warrants additional updates to his bio.
No disrespect intended, but I am a huge fan of Bud Cort, and as the space for information here is limited, it just makes sense to include a fan site such as mine for the Bud-curious to get more information about him.

Television Without Pity
Last week, I added links to Television Without Pity's episode recaps to the External Links sections of several specific pages. For example, I added a link to "Chuck episode recaps on Television Without Pity" to the "Chuck" page.
I was then blocked for "spamming" by you and given several warnings from your colleagues, who referred to TWOP as a fan site or my personal blog.
Television Without Pity is not a blog or a fan site. It is a professionally run website that provides in-depth episode recaps for popular shows. It is owned by NBC Universal.
TWOP's competitors include TV.com, TVGuide.com, and AOL Television -- all of these sites have links in the External Links area on pages about specific shows. Why can't TWOP?
Please advise. Thank you.
--RonGrail 15:30, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- Per WP:SPAM: Adding external links to an article or user page for the purpose of promoting a website or a product is not allowed, and is considered to be spam. Although the specific links may be allowed under some circumstances, repeatedly adding links will in most cases result in all of them being removed. Additionally, as all of your edits have been to add this link I must ask if you have a conflict of interest. Wikipedia is not a venue for promotion. IrishGuy talk 17:45, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response. This sounds like a reasonable rule, provided it's enforced fairly. I'm just curious why TV.com, TVGuide.com, AOL Television, etc. were not similarly penalized. Their links are promoting their respective websites, aren't they? For that matter, what about all of the IMDB.com links throughout Wikipedia? That site is as much of a business/product as TWOP, TV.com, TVGuide.com, etc. I'm not trying to be argumentative; just trying to understand the rationale. (And yes, I do have a conflict of interest: I think TWOP's content is a great resource for fans trying to catch up on their favorite shows. They provide an excellent service, just like Wikipedia does.)
- The various IMDB links in film article weren't added by employees of IMDB. As the guidelines state, a link may be allowed for what they are, mass additions with the sole purpose of promoting the website is spam. IrishGuy talk 21:22, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you again for responding. So I understand that you consider one person who adds many links to the same site to be a spammer. But can you at least acknowledge that TWOP is a professional website, not a user-driven fan site? I'd hate for other folks who try to link to TWOP to be similarly blocked/banned. --RonGrail 22:25, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- I don't believe I ever personally made that claim (although feel free to correct me if I am wrong about that). :) IrishGuy talk 22:29, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- You certainly didn't. But at least one of your colleagues did. I just wanted to make sure Wikipedia understood what kind of site we were talking about. I wouldn't appreciate an amateur fan site appearing in External Links, either. Thanks again for your consideration. --RonGrail 22:59, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
Hey Irishguy, I noticed that you deleted a previous version of this article that has now been recreated by User:Theavory. (I'm doing new page patrol today). Article was formerly "Susan and the SurfTones" (note capital T in Tones). I'm not sure what the original article looked like because I'm not admin, but the one created today asserts notability and has several references. Maybe an AfD? Maybe a good article? Either way I don't care, just patrolling. Just thought you'd like to take a look at it and see if it still has COI and copyvio issues. Happy editing, Keeper | 76 21:28, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Gridlocked Artist Page
Why was this page deleted? I see other artist page such as Lil Bow Wow or Lil Romeo who has no important things on their page still around. Or the band Gridlocked from Australia, their page is shorter then the one I created, shows no importance and is still around. Is it because the Gridlocked artist is not famous, the page gets deleted? - Being nonsensical isn't helping your case. I have not only never edited the Swedish Band article...I haven't promoted them in any way. You, however, have promoted the band, the record label, etc. all over Wikipedia. Very different. You are a single purpose account with the sole purpose of promoting the band and the label. The 'ineffective change' that I made
The 'ineffective' change that I made was a simple typo and repair of a vandalism. In the entry "The Departed" someone had lovingly changed the title to "The Defarted" in italics on the first line. I simply changed the f to a p and took off the marks that were preventing the change. If you prefer to revert it to "The Defarted" then that is up to you. I will refrain from correcting vandalism in the future. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.24.186.41 (talk • contribs)
- Actually, no. You removed the bold and didn't correct any typo at all. IrishGuy talk 23:43, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
It was changed on my end. It was The Defarted...and it is changed now to bolded without the "f" I wouldn't have any reason to change it otherwise. I am not delusional. *laugh* It really doesn't matter to me, though. It is corrected in the end,and that is all that matters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.24.186.41 (talk • contribs)
- There may have been an edit conflict. You saw it, hit the edit button and began to correct. During that time, it was already reverted. Something like that perhaps. IrishGuy talk 23:48, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Your deletion of : UBS Bloomberg Constant Maturity Commodity Index (CMCI)
Dear IrishGuy,
You speedy deleted the new page titled: "UBS Bloomberg Constant Maturity Commodity Index (CMCI)" and you indicated that some of the items in the article were blatant advertising.
Although I considered the page as presenting facts only, I am happy to reconsider the wording with you. to meet the encyclopedic criterias that you are defending.
Would you please be able to indicate under which conditions you would revise such judgement and what wording would meet your criteria for non-advertising?
