Welcome to Wikipedia from Reconsider the static

[edit]

Hi, InteractSM. I welcome you to Wikipedia! Thank you for all of your edits. I hope you like editing here and being part of Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); when you save the page, this will turn into your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or put {{helpme}} (and what you need help with) on your talk page and someone will show up very soon to answer your questions. Again, welcome! Reconsider! 07:17, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Help Me, please! I need to remove the template from my wiki article for: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Richard_Hatem it started off as a stub, but I added the needed info and I think it's ready to go live--how do I remove the template and push it live? Also, I got a message saying that this other article I wrote in my userspace: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:InteractSM/DMACsAwards read like an advertisement, which it is not intended to be, and would love some direction as to what I need to do to make it read less so. I really feel like the tone is neutral, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Thank you very much-appreciate your time and know that you are all volunteers! Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guideline to avoid editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.  Chzz  ►  00:41, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I see! Thank you so much. I'll change my user name. It never occurred to me it might come across as promotional; It makes total sense. Thanks!

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, InteractSM, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 00:18, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Richard Hatem has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable biography with all sources used currently do not establish notability and fails GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
