Page history deletion

I would like any user who has the rights to do so to delete the revision history of my user page (User:Idell) up to and including revision 968684033 (21:29, 20 July 2020). Would it also be possible to have the edit summaries of these revisions deleted without having to delete the whole user page? Idell (talk) 11:19, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

I've deleted the user page and then restored the desired revisions. Hope this meets your needs - if not please let me know.— Diannaa (talk) 11:58, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

I literally have no idea what you're talking about. I made no "disruptive edits" whatsoever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MountainTraveler (talkcontribs) 03:28, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

@MountainTraveler: I'm sorry about the warning, it was an accident and I have removed it now. Idell (talk) 09:00, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

Would you like to introduce yourself? 2409:4063:4D15:D54:2719:CB16:4A0A:924B (talk) 05:19, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

Your signature

Hi, your signature, as used here, is

<span style="font-family:Times New Roman; color:Teal">110%</span> (talk)

This uses the resize template, which is forbidden by WP:SIG#NT. Better ways would be to use

<span style="font-family:Times New Roman; color:Teal;font-size:110%;">Idell</span> (talk)

which does exactly the same job in the same length, or

<b style="font-family:Times New Roman; color:Teal;font-size:110%;">Idell</b> (talk)

which is twelve characters shorter. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 10:13, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, I’ve altered it now and removed yet another character, a space. Idell (talk) 10:42, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

Avoiding incivility

Hi, you're doing great work and, although I'm sure finding errors and typos is frustrating, I don't recommend making comments like you did in this edit summary. We're all imperfect and WP:CIV calls on us to treat each other with dignity. — Ƶ§œš¹ [lɛts b̥iː pʰəˈlaɪˀt] 15:37, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi, Idell, would you take a closer look at what you did now and also my comments here and the reaction of NinjaRobotPirate ? You will notice all I did was removing the mess seems to be where the "gravatar" nonsense was added to that article created by Secure.gravatar.com. Thank you for your time. I never, never add inappropriate external links external links to articles. Maybe you have a solution? Lotje (talk) 15:43, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

I see it now, my apologies. I suppose it was caused by the automatic citation creation tool of the visual editor, I don’t think CitationBot is responsible for that. Idell (talk) 16:33, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

.

I did not add my own point of view but rather the point of view held by Sunni Islam. I find it troubling that Wikipedia insists on labelling heretics as Muslims and that I must be neutral when writing about them. You state on your page that your mother tongue is Urdu and Hindko, which suggests you are a Muslim, although I may be wrong. How can you expect me to stay quiet when these deviants insult my prophet every day and turn thousands of Muslims into heretics like themselves. --Qwerty12345uiopa67890 (talk) 18:17, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

I am unsure what edit on what page you are referring to but it appears that you have added original research. Original research refers to material for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions.
It is clear that Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective, not that of just one sect of a religion.
The threshold for inclusion is verifiability, not truth, while fairly representing and giving due weight to all significant viewpoints. Idell (talk) 19:37, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I apologize for deleting the content in Integrated Water Resources Management without adequate explanations. I was supposed to put my edits with my peers' work together in our shared sandbox first, but I jumped the gun and added my edits to the actual article. What should I do for now?

Thank you, --Teruhiro Shigeno (talk) 12:48, 20 November 2020 (UTC) Teruhiro

@Teruhiro Shigeno: it's all right, your edit has been reverted. Feel free to use your sandbox to work on it. But if you would like to delete content from an article, it is best to achieve consensus on the article's talk page (if the removal is likely to be controversial) or adequately explain your reasons for the deletion in the edit summary. If you need help with anything else, ask away.
By the way, you are supposed to add a new message at the bottom of a talk page, not the top. Idell (talk) 22:04, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

Biomimetic architecture

Hi could you explain why you reverted the edits I made to Biomimetic architecture? All I did was edit some previous changes I made which on further study I realized did not suit the page. I would love for you to have a closer look and then hear your thoughts?--DanayKamdar (talk) 19:18, 22 November 2020 (UTC)User:DanayKamdar

In your edit, you removed a significant amount of content from the article without adequately explaining why, so I reverted your edit per Wikipedia:Content removal. However, you may remove content that you had personally added, provided it has not been changed significantly. So, it is always best to explain that in your edit summary. You also added an external link to the first sentence of the article which is almost never appropriate. Read the guidelines at Wikipedia:External links.
By the way, to start a new discussion, you are supposed to create a new section at the bottom of a talk page, unlike what you did here. Idell (talk) 12:17, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add NoACEMM to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:45, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Good Morning,

I'm writing to you because you keep changing my correction to the inaccurate and sourcless information about sexual activity being illegal outside of marriage in Bahrain, within the "age of consent in asia" page. As a Bahraini citizen familiar with the law on the matter, I know for a fact that this information is incorrect and gives a misleading image about the country.

Regards, Ali TranslatorAli94 (talk) 12:30, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

That is exactly what original research means, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. As I've explained on your talk page, you must provide citations to reliable sources to support your claims. Idell (talk)

Editing Guideline

Hi Idell, I hope you are doing well. Just wanted to ask why you reverted the small changes I made? It was not a paid job. I do changes on the educational institutes and Non Profits occasionally to learn and gain points.

I hope I'm posting my query in the right place. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by OB.Rehman (talkcontribs) 07:48, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

If you're referring to your edit on St. Clements University, the revert was made by GSS. Idell (talk) 11:09, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

Happy Birthday!

Why did you nuke the Elif page?

You deleted the entire description on the page. ??? Victor Gul (talk) 16:37, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

Because that's not how disambiguation pages are written. I had moved the description to the appropriate article (Elif (name)) before you completely ignored the long-standing policies and practices with your revert. Idell (talk) 20:10, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi, thank you so much for reviewing the edit I made on the article. It was a mistake on my end, I was super sleepy while working on it and should have stopped right away. I appreciate it. --Wjddml (talk) 18:41, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Reply tool

Graph of Reply tool and full-page wikitext edit completion rates
Completion rates for comments made with the Reply tool and full-page wikitext editing. Details and limitations are in this report.

The Reply tool is available at most other Wikipedias.

 • The Reply tool has been deployed as an opt-out preference to all editors at the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias.
 • It is also available as a Beta Feature at almost all Wikipedias except for the English, Russian, and German-language Wikipedias. If it is not available at your wiki, you can request it by following these simple instructions.

Research notes:

 • As of January 2021, more than 3,500 editors have used the Reply tool to post about 70,000 comments.
 • There is preliminary data from the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedia on the Reply tool. Junior Contributors who use the Reply tool are more likely to publish the comments that they start writing than those who use full-page wikitext editing.[1]
 • The Editing and Parsing teams have significantly reduced the number of edits that affect other parts of the page. About 0.3% of edits did this during the last month.[2] Some of the remaining changes are automatic corrections for Special:LintErrors.
 • A large A/B test will start soon.[3] This is part of the process to offer the Reply tool to everyone. During this test, half of all editors at 24 Wikipedias (not including the English Wikipedia) will have the Reply tool automatically enabled, and half will not. Editors at those Wikipeedias can still turn it on or off for their own accounts in Special:Preferences.

New discussion tool

Screenshot of version 1.0 of the New Discussion Tool prototype.

The new tool for starting new discussions (new sections) will join the Discussion tools in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-betafeatures at the end of January. You can try the tool for yourself.[4] You can leave feedback in this thread or on the talk page.

Next: Notifications

During Talk pages consultation 2019, editors said that it should be easier to know about new activity in conversations they are interested in. The Notifications project is just beginning. What would help you become aware of new comments? What's working with the current system? Which pages at your wiki should the team look at? Please post your advice at mw:Talk:Talk pages project/Notifications.

Editing at Shahab Nama

I agree with you that Marybeth13's editing is unacceptable, but not with your description of her editing as "vandalism", as I see no reason to doubt that she has been acting in good faith. I have posted a fairly long message on her talk page, explaining what seem to me to be the main issues involved. However, you too need to avoid edit-warring. JBW (talk) 21:27, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
