A belated welcome!
[edit]Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Ibexexpeditions. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.
Again, welcome! GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 22:55, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
- What can I do now?
You are still welcome to write about something other than your company, organization, or clients. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 20:30, 1 March 2012 (UTC)"Request for unblock, as I have read and understood the criteria for editing. I understand that there are policies and guidelines and I added a link t the website with the idea that it would make the article more appropriate. I am not here to promote an organization, but wrote about a person of repute who has done credible work over the past few decades. I also intend on writing articles about other topics in the future. So may I please request to be unblocked and will not repeat the same mistake again. Further as an appeal, some people understand things a bit slower and I am probably one of them. And your idea of blocking me will help me learn, but then I need to learn so also unblock me and allow me to prove that I can write better and follow policies better in the future. Thanks Ibexexpeditions (talk) 03:27, 2 March 2012 (UTC)"
- If you intend to follow Wikipedia guidelines, why did you not follow the recommendation in the block notice about using a template for the unblock request? And why did you not indicate what new username you wish to have? —C.Fred (talk) 03:34, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
That's because the guidelines said that I can put in a format in the said guidelines i.e. "Your reason here" and send it to an administrator. Further, I did not want to change the username, however if it is absolutely necessary for me to do the same to unblock, I can request the entire process once again, please advice. Request reason:
Request for unblock once again. I have read and understood the criteria for editing. I understand that there are policies and guidelines and I added a link to the website with the idea that it would make the article more appropriate. I am not here to promote an organization, but wrote about a person of repute who has done credible work over the past few decades. I also intend on writing articles about other topics in the future. So may I please request to be unblocked and will not repeat the same mistake again. Please also advice if I need to change my username in order to request an unblock. Decline reason:
Yes, you need to change your username to continue editing here. Also, please explain how do you intend to follow our conflict of interest guideline? Max Semenik (talk) 07:29, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
Further I will follow all rules of writing on Wikipedia and all the rules of conflict of interest, which clearly mentions against adding any content that is biased and used for self promotion, including external website links. I do however request, if possible, to allow me to edit this article to make it meet the quality standards on wikipedia, especially the section on adding inline citations and cleaning up all grammatical errors.
I request for the block to be lifted and promise not to add any content into the article that violates the rules of writing on Wikipedia and will only edit the article to meet the quality standards on Wikipedia.Decline reason:
