Question from Natalie Namaste (16:28, 1 September 2024)

[edit]

Hello I would like to create a page for Natalie Namaste. How do I do that? --Natalie Namaste (talk) 16:28, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Natalie Namaste You probably shouldn't that so soon after just starting to edit; creating an article is one of the more complex things you can do, and it's apparent that you have a conflict of interest (you have a stake in presenting yourself positively, Wikipedia has an interest in clinical neutrality). You've discovered the mentorship module; there are other features to teach people how to edit Wikipedia. If you insist, you can use the article wizard to create an article for creation draft. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 16:36, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, Today I de-orphaned this article by adding a link at Northern England article, See also section.

Cheers, JoeNMLC (talk) 11:49, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You reviewed Draft:Faits et Documents and approved it for publication. I've just run though the article and it has 8 missing citations (for facts that really need citations or direct quotes) and 6 failed verifications (citations having nothing at all really to do with the cited content). I would recommend re-draftifying the article, but I don't know how that process works. Any thoughts? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:59, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiDan61 Yikes! Thanks for catching that, all draft reviewers make mistakes. I can re-draftify, but it might be a bit confusing for the creator. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:38, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For now, I can reach out to the creator and point out the problems. Perhaps they can be addressed. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:55, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61 Sounds like a plan. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:27, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can I edit on Azerbaijani cuisuine?

[edit]

Because I do not have 500 edits yet, I can't edit about topics including WP:GS/AA. However, is it permissible to edit on Azerbaijani cuisine, having nothing to do with the conflict on Karabakh? --Viceskeeni2 (talk) 16:22, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Viceskeeni2 Which article are you thinking about, and what kind of edits are you thinking about doing? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 02:19, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted to add the Azerbaijani term and version (Doğramac) into the Okroshka article Viceskeeni2 (talk) 09:31, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Viceskeeni2 I dunno if this is accurate or not, but Google Translate thinks that's the Turkish word for "joinery," defined as [...]a part of woodworking that involves joining pieces of wood, engineered lumber, or synthetic substitutes (such as laminate), to produce more complex items. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 21:16, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"doğramaq/k" is "cutting" in Azerbaijani and Turkish but the food is also called "Doğramac", both terms have nothing to do with each other tho Viceskeeni2 (talk) 21:32, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Viceskeeni2 As long as you aren't writing about genocide or other conflict, it's okay. If it's about genocide, don't do it. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 00:03, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nah it has nothing to do with that Viceskeeni2 (talk) 05:46, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Viceskeeni2 If you're being honest and that's true, then it's fine. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:39, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yo it is. I'm even eating it rn Viceskeeni2 (talk) 17:40, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
aaaaaand you weren't being honest I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:12, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Rfn (22:26, 8 September 2024)

[edit]

Hi. Not sure where/how to begin learning what you, my mentor, know well. The path ahead is blurry at the moment. Do I choose an entry or b/c of my lack of experience does Wiki or you select the lesson material? --Rfn (talk) 22:26, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Rfn You can choose to learn whatever it is you wish. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 02:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from CD967119 (01:29, 5 September 2024)

[edit]

Hi. I usually edit a page called "Timeline of the introduction of color television in countries and territories". I usually get into a conflict with presumably 1 IP user.

The problem is that they keep on editing with Zero sources and when i revert, they add it back. Recently, I asked them a question to where they get this information on their talk page, but I haven't gotten a response yet. what should I do next? Am I wrong? are they right? are we both wrong? am i misunderstanding? --CD967119 (talk) 01:29, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@CD967119 Perhaps you can seek out help on Talk:Timeline of the introduction of color television in countries and territories. At the very least, you can note what's going on over there. I do think they should be the one sourcing their own edits.
Just a note that you're not the only one they haven't responded to on their talk page, and that the article has a history of semi-protection. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 02:26, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have made a talk page, waitin for response. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Timeline_of_the_introduction_of_color_television_in_countries_and_territories#IP_vandalism_persistent_again CD967119 (talk) 07:17, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CD967119 I see that there's no response. It's certainly a start, though. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 03:56, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
also this has been going on for a while, could be edit warring, should I file that edit war noticeboard forum now? CD967119 (talk) 14:37, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CD967119 I just added a "Please see" notification on one of IP addresses; wait a moment. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 14:49, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
it's been almost a week with nothing. what now? CD967119 (talk) 07:02, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CD967119 At this point, I'd restoring the article, and if they revert again, then go to the edit war noticeboard. It's not like they're communicating with you. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 11:58, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Kem827wiki on PragerU (20:48, 15 September 2024)

[edit]

Page edits not permitted for PragerU. Yet sources are not active websites. Author lacks valid source content for citations as links are broken. Tried 1 & 2 on main page. --Kem827wiki (talk) 20:48, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Kem827wiki PragerU is semi-protected due to persistent disruptive editing related to American politics. I strongly advise you to start editing elsewhere. I've added links to your talk page to make this easier. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 21:58, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Əhməd Qurbanov on the InMerge Innovation Summit article (08:53, 16 September 2024)

[edit]

Hi. I added some arguments in the talk page of the article. Please, if it is not enough, help me to remove any other issues in article.--Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 08:53, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Əhməd Qurbanov Creating a draft is a good start. Next step: replacing the facebook sources with more reliable sources. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 02:54, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've already created draft page. And I replaced all social media references with independent websites. Please look at it, and if it is possible, give feedback. It would be very helpful. Thanks in advance. Əhməd Qurbanov (talk) 14:45, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Əhməd Qurbanov Per the talk notice at the top of the page: I don't review drafts on request. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:14, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Donchocolate on Gwalior (04:48, 19 September 2024)

[edit]

Hello, this information is misleading, no where it is mention that it is Telangana mandir inspite the fact that the word telangana was not even exist in 9th century. Also, the temple was built by Gurjara Pratihara not by the common man. --Donchocolate (talk) 04:48, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Donchocolate If you have reliable sources, you can go ahead and change it. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 12:58, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Princess Pegasus on Black Clover season 2 (17:56, 19 September 2024)

[edit]

How do I edit a text? --Princess Pegasus (talk) 17:56, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Princess Pegasus If you mean "How do I edit an article?", I just added some links to tutorials on your talk page. If you have a question that's more specific to what you're struggling with, please ask. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:57, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from N Ngcobo on Environmental health policy (00:16, 21 September 2024)

[edit]

How do I get paid --N Ngcobo (talk) 00:16, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@N Ngcobo Being paid to edit Wikipedia is incredibly taboo, and subject to additional policies and guidelines. I wouldn't know how to get paid for environmental policy. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 00:25

Speedy deletion declined: Superintendencies of Indian Affairs

[edit]

Hello I dream of horses, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Superintendencies of Indian Affairs, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Like JSS said earlier "per the talk page, this isn't a slam-dunk speedy deletion, WP:AFD would be a better place to discuss it"; also it seems like the Indian Reporter may have been copying from a freely licensed source (familysearch.org/en/wiki/Superintendencies_of_Indian_Affairs). You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:25, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Firefangledfeathers My bad. I'm experienced I should've known better, but I guess people copying and pasting from freely licensed sources is rare enough that I forgot. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 15:35, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Something about this situation set off my spidey-sense. I agree this is rarely the outcome. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:59, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Adamu Garki (14:59, 27 September 2024)

[edit]

How to verify my Wikipedia page --Adamu Garki (talk) 14:59, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Adamu Garki No one really "owns" Wikipedia articles. If you're asking how to write an article about yourself, that's strongly discouraged, partially due to issues with neutrality, and partially because having a Wikipedia article isn't always a good thing. If you insist, you should go through articles for creation. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 16:52, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our wikipedia page. Based on your comment, we have added 10 external links as reference, and republished the article. Hope you can have a look. Thank you 2607:FEA8:740:F90:B8BD:F0A7:EFB:99D7 (talk) 17:40, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

So, who is writing this draft? I'm assuming there's multiple people. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:42, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Successfully de-orphaned the article. Thank you.

Point coloration

[edit]

Hey, I see you've been taking a shot at this too. Someone took the initiative to split out temperature-dependent point coloration from the other types, which I think was a good idea, but also removed discussion of all other types, which I think was not ideal. However, it turns out those sections were the only ones with sources, and all sections about other types of point coloration were entirely unsourced. So when I restored the article, I also inadvertently left it entirely without sources. Oops. Anyway, it now has the exact inverse of the sections that it should - perfect duplicates of all sections already on Acromelanism, and none of the types left out of that. Working on sourcing now, but I won't have a ton of time tonight or tomorrow so might be a little slow. Iamnotabunny (talk) 01:16, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Iamnotabunny Whoops! I'll keep an eye on it. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 01:45, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
