Edit
[edit]I received your message and I got absolutely attacked by eric444 so I won't even both adding any new and current info to any country music pages as he clearly makes a huge deal if you fix up anything that he regularly posts to which I did not know until I updated the awards that the groups got. He also feels that he owns the Keith urban page Wifey93 (talk) 07:41, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

Sig
[edit]Hello, fellow RCP'er. Since you don't mind criticism, I've plucked up the courage to tell you that I think your current sig is rather too distracting: the long orange stripe draws the eye away from your username, and makes a page on which you've issued several warnings look very weird, e.g. User talk:1.41.23.58, User talk:Aesthetic.ash, which could be confusing to new editors. Cheers, —SMALLJIM 15:03, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Smalljim: Perhaps it's better if I could get the same amount of information in less words. You have a way to rephrase it? --I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 15:29, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
- I think the info is OK, if you want to make that clear. But any emphasis should surely be on your username - maybe removing the orange bg and perhaps using a dun colour for your username to make it stand out a little? —SMALLJIM 15:43, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Smalljim: There's should probably be some emphasis on the bar itself, since I encounter a lot of newer editors. But in any case, do you have any idea how to program this? I'm going to need my hand held. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 19:14, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

OK, what about it looking something like this?
I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message (talk to me) (My edits) @ timestamp
It's been a long time since I tinkered with username formatting and I'm not sure how you manage to omit the middle bit on your own talk page. If you copy the code from the signature box of your preferences and paste it here (between nowiki tags), I can have a look. —SMALLJIM 20:01, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Smalljim: I'm sure Lady Aleena, the person who originally gave me the code, can tell you how the bar is eliminated. You can also look at it here :-) I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:49, 6 February 2016 (UTC) Added ping at 03:50, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
- Right. That code is now duplicating your username (as shown on my talk page). I've amended the css code to fix that (I hope) but I've also undone my edit, so if you want to see if it works you need to reinstate my edit. I think the only side effect is that your sig on this page would now have a coloured background. —SMALLJIM 12:57, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Classical composers infoboxes
[edit]Hello.
I'd like to add some infoboxes, like I sometimes do with other people. But there is a problem.
I was going to put infoboxes for Antonio Vivaldi, Arcangelo Corelli, and Franz Schubert, but when I started editing, I saw a note saying strictly not to add an infobox to the page.
Why not, and would I be allowed to anyway?
P.S. I do not intend to break any rules, so if I really can't add an infobox, I'll respect their wishes.
98.162.137.30 (talk) 20:06, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
- If there's a strict warning not to put in infoboxes, there's probably a consensus not to do it. Since consensus, to some extent, rules Wikipedia, you shouldn't go aganist it. You won't get blocked for adding infoboxes initially, but you'll probably get a strongly-worded warning. Your instincts to not go through with it for now are correct.
- You can, however, try to change consensus. You can start a discussion here. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 21:44, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks.
- How do I do that, and what is a consensus exactly?

[edit]Moved barnstar here
I've been making a point lately of adding welcome templates to the talk pages of new and first time users, and in doing so have come across many, many pages where you beat me to it.
These welcome templates are a great resource and can help put editors unfamiliar with the project on the right path. There should be a specific barn star for this, but I figured this one
would do. Good Work & Happy editing! - theWOLFchild 01:47, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, and thank you for making the system notify me of you reverting the edit I made on the Amchitka page. My justification for doing that is related to the people who worked on the project and the people who lived in the area. That joke became part of the culture to the point that even in Anchorage and Fairbanks it would get told every time the name of that island came up. To be true to the culture and the people, I would ask that you put it back in. I had it set aside in a box and referenced as a joke. Perhaps it would go better further down in the article, as a cultural impact of Cannikin. The people who influenced the project leaders to use that name are the same people who made up that joke. Not the onees who used Milrow before. There was a population shift as a result of the two MT tests. And at 5 MT the 1971 test most definitely blew the 'chit' out of it - the talk at the time was that it was the biggest ever done and the biggest that would ever be done. No tsar bomba's to be done by the US, you know. But it was indisputably very large. Hence the joke about renaming the island. Because people would not want to move back to Amchitka, but Amka would be OK, after 20-40 years or so. So you can see I did this honestly, albeit with tongue planted firmly in cheek. No need to cry when you can laugh. They had to cry with the first MT test already. It was still a fresh memory. People were worried that the US would just continue to ignore the test ban treaties that other countries had to follow. The bans favored by President Kennedy. Looking back you can see they were correct, as the US never ratified the comprehensive test ban treaty until 1996, 25 years after the bomb that blew the chit out of the island. And if any Sovs were around to hear, it was always good to remind them of Amka. Could be brought to your home corner courtesy of the US Air Force. And as for Alaskans, we felt violated much worse than we were in the 1940s by the nips. It was our own country bombing us, and nobody could stop it.
SO PLEASE PUT IT BACK IN.

Contribs Removed
[edit]Hi, I've been a member since around 2005, but I see all my contributions have been wiped now, like they don't matter anymore. So was my member page, that was I made to believe was "permanent". While I see the point of not having to be able to revert back to a post several years ago, wiping any trace of whomever made edits to a work is kind of rude. Grumble, grumble, all of a sudden I have to make 10 new contributions to edit locked posts too, like I'm a complete newbie... I'm not saying you did these things, but you were the one unlucky enough to be suggested as a contact for questions when I reinstalled my user page. Now that I'm nearly done complaining, I do have some questions. Why wasn't I given any warning that this might happen? Is there any way to rectify this? Or will I just have to live with it? If so, it will of course severely discourage me from wanting to make new contributions. --Kebman (talk) 08:32, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Kebman: Removing contributions should be impossible due to copyright reasons. Attribution is a must. However, you need to realize that any contributions you made to the Norweigan Wikipedia won't transfer over here.
- According to this page, your English Wikipedia account was only created yesterday, which is actually in line with what's called "single user login"--you could log into any Wikimedia project and get a new account under the same name, but it's a new account with each project. --I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 23:23, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- I'm of course talking about contributions made to the English Wikipedia, and not the Norwegian one. I am not a new member. I'm a returning one, and I can't find my own contributions. In fact it said my own user page was removed, though this notification has now vanished. This leads me to conclude that the impossible has actually happened. I'm not angry about it (at first I was indeed frustrated, though), but I am concerned and a bit curious. Kebman (talk) 11:38, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Kebman: Perhaps your contributions have been, for whatever reason, deleted in such a way that they are hidden from public view. This would prevent both of us from viewing your contributions; however, you can always ask an admin to check. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 23:16, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

[edit]I was just trying to thank you for your kind offer to help a newbie familiarize himself with editing Wikipedia (I use it all the time professionally, and am in a position to do some professional editing in return -- as well as my annual donation :-). Userboxes code
[edit]Hi,
I like the collapsible userboxes item you have on your user page. Could you tell me how to code for one, or point me in the right direction to find out? Thanks! Coinmanj (talk) 23:36, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Coinmanj: I used this code for each and every collapsible item (and there's a few of them on my userpage), along with one {{userboxtop}} and {{userboxbottom}} each to keep it neat and tidy. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 23:40, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

- @Vvven: You and Gareth Griffith-Jones could probably use dispute resolution.
- Also, it appears that English is not your native language. The English Wikipedia is not the only Wikipedia that exists; if you're more comfortable talking/writing in a different language, you can go to a different one. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 22:39, 27 February 2016 (UTC) (fixed ping at 22:40, 27 February 2016 (UTC)) (fixed ping again at 22:42, 27 February 2016 (UTC))
