Deletion of Hamid Jebelli page

Hi INeverCry,

I'd like to know why the page, Hamid Jebelli, was deleted. This person is an important figure for the new generation of kids in the very corrupt and morally polluted Iran. He deserves recognition. I would like to do anything in my power to contribute to the restoration of this page. Deletion of photograph onAlbert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library page

Hello. I do not understand your justification for removing the photograph I placed on this page, showing a typewriter. I am the photographer, and I believe I stated that clearly in the information requested by Wikipedia while creating the image file metadata. I do not understand whose copyright you believe is being violated. William Faulkner did not create the typewriter or make any marks upon its surface that might be said to be his intellectual property (indeed, he made no marks on the surface of the typewriter itself that I know of); therefore his literary estate does not hold copyright over the typewriter. The typewriter itself is a commercial product, rather than a creative work, and an image of it is not protected by copyright, though I am sure that there are patents over the technology of the typewriter, but those patents are not violated by the image of it. The company that produced the typewriter risks no loss of typewriter sales because I have placed a photograph of it on this page.

Please note the numerous photographs of typewriters on the Typewriter entry, which do not show permission from the company that produced the typewriters in question.

Deletion Enquiry/Undeletion Request

I have been making edits of a very technical nature to pages with a lot of pharmacologic content. It seemed appropriate to simply write on my User Page (KMAnomalocaris) that I have degrees in medicine and organic chemistry; i.e., I'm qualified to make such changes. I would like to request the undeletion of the recently deleted page on Amigo Loans. Thanks for the reply, but I did read the "requests for undeletion" page before posting here and it was clear that I should contact you directly to discuss this: "If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here." I believe that the page doesn't meet the criteria for speedy deletion. It appears that the page was previously removed on the grounds of notability, since which time the subject has received significant, regular and widespread coverage from reliable sources (news publications such as The Independent, The Mirror, The Sun, The Times, The Mail etc). Do you disagree that the subject is notable, therefore not meeting the criteria for speedy deletion under rule G4, due to the exclusion: "This excludes pages to which the reason for the deletion no longer applies"? The entire page is written in a promotional tone. The use throughout of "you" and "your" is inappropriately geared toward prospective individual users. Phrases like "While developers will see more benefits, the out-of-the-box features remain documented and easy to configure for non-developers", or "Free is good. Open-source: you do not like something, fix it and never get stuck again!" are blatantly promotional. You have to give a neutral account of the product without using the "you" and "your" angle, and without touting the benifits of using it. Inquire About a Deleted Page

I would like to ask for more information about why my page "Allard Motor Works" was deleted? It was still a work in progress and a lot more information and source references were being added. There were already three source references on the page. I am not affiliated with the car company but value the additional information since it is a continuation of an older company now defunct. There are pages for numerous other comparable and currently operating car makers - Morgan Motor Company, Intermeccanica, etc. Could you give me some suggestions? The Bard (poem)

I didn't really leave much for you to do this time, what with finding my own pictures, but thanks for the fixes. As usual I look at the finished product and it's not quite what I hoped for, but at any rate I no longer worry about the obvious missing sections, i.e. Themes, Modern Criticism and so on. There are people who like doing that sort of thing: let 'em. I feel these days that it's enough if your edit leaves Wikipedia a micron better than you found it. I also don't want to get bogged down in a biggish new article for the time being, so expect a bit more brevity.

That's a damned good article! I've also come to loathe literary criticism over the last year or so, not that I ever liked it. Like Chekhov, there's the books I like, and the ones I don't like. I prefer covering the writers themselves, and letting someone actually read the writer's works to get an idea of themes, etc. I just read Oliver Twist over the past few days, and found it to be an excellent read. I've read about half of Dickens's novels, and I've yet to be disappointed.

I've been thinking of doing some work on this inspirational gentleman's article sometime soon. He's been a hero of mine since my younger days, and I still think he deserves to be in the hall of fame...but that's neither here nor there. I need new subjects, like baseball players, artists, historical figures...I also just got a book on the world's cheeses. ;) Maybe I can get up a few GAs and DYKs with somewhat less complex subjects. Incorrect summary at deletion discussion

Please revert your closes at Wikipedia:Files_for_deletion/2013_June_7#File:Valley arts rj advert.jpg and Wikipedia:Files_for_deletion/2013_June_7#File:Rj certificate.jpg, as you didn't follow the proper procedure - you failed to follow step 2, "Determine whether or not a rough consensus to delete has been reached". The deletion criterion you used is not a summary of the consensus achieved at the discussion (none of the editors discussing the image talked about WP:NFCC#1, so it can't be used as the basis for deletion), and therefore this is an improper closing. If you wanted to introduce that criterion, you are expected to do it with a comment as a participant in the discussion (so that a different admin can use it later and other editors can discuss it), not with a close as an administrator. The license is fine and we can use it, although the project is unusual. I'm not quite sure how the aims of the journal will go with changes made to articles by other editors, nor how it will fit with the original research limitations, but the license is fully compatible,. Whatever happens, though, I think we'll need to tag those articles like we did with the old Encyclopedia Britannica ones to highlight the original source, at least on the talk page and ideally on the article. The page was deleted for copyright issues but I created the page as I work for the institute right now and have been given the responsibility to reach out to the public through different online social media, including wikipedia, facebook, twitter etc. So, I think the article should not have been deleted.

I'm sorry to bother you. I declined the Michael Aram AFC submission that you deleted just now. It appeared to be a copyvio from Armeniapedia.org. The editor explained on my talk page that he created both - and that he actually wrote the Wikipedia content first. It just sat in the queue much longer, so the Armeniapedia article was published first. I told him that I'd check into how to move forward, but I got distracted by other things on and off Wiki until I saw your edit pop up on my watchlist. Deletion of Mekaela Academies page

I would like to know why the page "Mekaela Academies" was deleted after more than 5 years after its creation. If it contained advertisement it was certainly not intended, unless someone has contributed to the content recently I am not aware of. Or, in other words, what would have had to be changed for the article not to be deleted?

I'm surprised that was around for so long without being tagged for deletion. The tone is very unencyclopedic, and sounds more like something you would expect to find on the school's website. The "history" section is written in a strange mixture of past and present tense: some entries use "were" and "was", while others use "are" and "is". There are also no inline refs for any of the information. This article needs to be re-written in a more factual, neutral tone, and in a tighter format. Take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines for a guideline on how to go forward with this article. I've emailed you a copy of the old article. The Two Foscari (Byron) and Anatoly Bogatyrev

Now there's a mystery, or even two. Why did I upload those articles as a pair, and why am I straying perilously close to your territory? The answer is that I found a reference in a highly repected reference work (Grove's Dictionary of Music) to an opera by Bogatyrev called The Two Foscari, based on Byron's play, so obviously I bunged a reference to it into an early draft of the Foscari article. It soon emerged that he had no WP page, and that, though unknown in the West, he's very well known in Belarus. The next step was to cobble up a short Bogatyrev page, but as I was finishing it I noticed that no other source mentioned the opera, even those that gave pretty thorough lists of his major works. Googling "Bogatyrev Foscari" (without the quotes) got me no hits even when I did it in Belarusian and Russian. So, there's almost certainly no such thing. The two-sentence article on Bogatyrev in The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Music got one fact wrong as well. I begin to think that there's a lot of misinformation about minor Soviet figures in Western sources, whether from the lack of communication across the Iron Curtain or from official Soviet lying. 2 more nice articles. I've added a few little things to Bogatyrev; the be.wiki article says he died September 13, but I've decided to leave that out for the moment, as you've sourced the 2003, and I don't want it to look like the exact date is sourced as well. I've had alot of problems with inaccuracies in sources. The best thing I can suggest is to try and find sources from the late 90s and later, published in the US or UK.

I've declined the speedy, as another editor has worked on the article to remove the promo tone and make it sound more neutral. The Business Week source is reliable, and with a quick search I noticed a CBS news source too, so I think notability isn't an issue. Looks like a bit of copy editing is needed though. The copyvio is a problem (copyrighted material has to have a free license at the source, or permission for use through WP:OTRS), but the bigger problem is that your submission was written like an advertisement. Articles must be neutral and factual, and the subject's notability must be shown using reliable sources. INeverCry 20:27, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Deleted Page Delta Controls

I understand the reason for deletion of the page Delta Controls, however, I had contested it, and would at least like an explanation. While I respect the grounds on which it was deleted, I was creating a page that is similar to many of the Delta Controls competitors listed on the Building Automation page. The list of Manufacturers on that page is comprehensive, but Delta Controls is a manufacturer and if all those companies meet the requirements to not be deleted based on Section A7, then Delta Controls should meet those same requirements.

If the article was something that needed to be improved, please restore it, and I'll make the necessary edits.

Deletion of draft page in userspace

INeverCry, I think you've made a mistake deleting my page User:N at Appcelerator/Appcelerator Platform. As I commented on the talk page before you deleted it, the page was the beginning of a draft for an article I intend to submit to articles for creation. If it had failed the process there or I had determined on my own that there were not sufficient reliable sources to make the topic notable, I would have asked for it to be speedy deleted myself.

As I understand it, one of the best practices for people with conflicts of interest is to submit new pages and edits to other editors rather than making them directly, and I'm perfectly happy to abide by this. I don't understand how that process can work without the ability to make drafts of new pages in userspace. As the user pages guideline states: "other legitimate uses of user space include (but are not limited to)...drafts, especially where you want discussion or other users' opinions first, for example due to conflict of interest or major proposed changes." —N at Appcelerator (my conflict of interest) 22:01, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

I'm not a fan of employee editors. What's your basic motivation? Publicity and exposure. Whether you write a decent article or not, you wouldn't be writing it if you didn't work for the company. An alternative to that line of reasoning would be that you're writing the article because it's really such a great product that the world should know about it immediately, and you're neutral and disinterested. Agreed, I'm definitely not a neutral observer, and agreed, I wouldn't be working on this if I didn't work at Appcelerator. And to be completely honest, until I was asked to help on this I had very little sympathy for employee editors myself. But what are the risks of my editing? That I create a page that isn't notable? I'm only going to submit articles to articles for creation and not create them directly. That my inevitable bias in favor of Appcelerator creeps into my edits or that I remove criticism from the company's pages? That's why I'll only be proposing edits on talk pages, not editing directly. That people don't give my suggestions proper scrutiny because they don't realize my conflict of interest? That's why I created an "at Appcelerator" username for these edits, linked to a disclosure in my signature, and plan to mention my conflict whenever I get involved in a discussion about Appcelerator's articles. Do those safeguards (and the fact that you have every right to keep a close watch on on my edits) do anything to assuage your concerns? As I see it, all those barriers allow me to contribute to the extent that my interests align with those of the Wikipedia community and not further; that seems mutually beneficial to me. I think the risk is that employee editors learn how to create articles that technically meet notability guidelines (often just barely) for products and companies that really aren't yet notable or important. Then what you have is more benefit to the companies and their products than to Wikipedia and it's readers. Alot of the resulting articles are glorified spam. If a company or product is really notable and important, an unconnected person will start an article for it. Having an employee do it smacks of publicity seeking to me. I think it also gives readers the wrong idea about Wikipedia when they see that a company employee has written the article they're looking at. My personal gut reaction would be to take such an article with a grain of salt, or skip it. INeverCry 00:08, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Well, if we're worrying about articles that technically are allowed but shouldn't be, we should improve the guidelines, not ban the editors who follow them. And even though most notable topics eventually get articles created by a volunteer, there's no telling how many years that might take. Our main product (Appcelerator Titanium) has had an article for four years now, but our company still doesn't. Reader distrust is a valid concern, and I don't think I could quibble with you or any for taking employee contributions with a grain of salt—but on the other hand I'd say that's just one of several reasons, along with vandalism and non-specialist editors (like me, when I'm editing personally), to treat everything on Wikipedia with a healthy amount of skepticism. —N at Appcelerator (my conflict of interest) 21:14, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

It's still a question of motivation to me; the vandals clearly want to do damage, the non-specialist editors usually want to build something, no matter how clumsily, and the COI editors want to satisfy the boss. If it takes years for a decent article to be created, that's the natural progression of things, according to reader demand. I agree motivation is an important to keep an eye on, but on some level I feel like it may not matter. If a employee contribution, after scrutiny from neutral editors, ends up basically equivalent to what an uninvolved editor would have written (which I think is difficult but quite possible, especially when the company isn't particularly controversial), what difference does the motivation make? Obviously if it's not substantively equal, whether because of tone or important omissions, that argument doesn't apply. Tuned City

Hello, I saw you speedy deleted the topic Tuned City. Imo this was done a bit too quick. I understand sound art related topics are niche (small audience) events, but this one was an international active event that took place in Berlin, Brussels, Tallinn (Estonia) and is active for 5 years already. The list of artists is relevant in teh field of sound art, although unfort not very present in articles on wikipedia due to the specific niche. There are enough sources and references on Google that confirm the relevnce of the festival. However most of those links are not in English but in German, Flemish or Estonian, since the festival took place in Europe.

• The Brussels event took place in le Botanique. As you can see on the picture in that topic not a small venue.
• The Tallinn event was part of the official program of the European Cultural Capital Tallinn 2011

Hi. Regarding the change you made on the aforementioned article - thank you. I had attempted to place a template {{unreadable}} or really try it out on the article and once I tried and realized it did not work, in my pursuit of trying to find an appropriate template, I forgot about that post. I was trying to comment on the incomprehensible posting of Maxim Gorky's summary of the text, so I am really looking for a template that can either be posted for whole articles or sections of an article (where appropriate) that suggest that the verbiage expressed is linguistically incomprehensible. Do you happen to know of any templates that would achieve that statement? I am familiar with Wikify but that is too generic and really applies to format issues probably much more than expressive issues. If you can make any suggestions or know of any templates such as what I am referring to, that would be very helpful, as I frequently come across pages that I cannot get back to (for lack of time or resources) but need attention from someone. In particular, I see this most frequently on Chinese topic pages or to a lesser extent (as here) on Russian pages, where all of the references used are in the Russian language or on the Chinese articles, in the Chinese language, which is neither useful, citable or in many cases, the information being asserted cannot be contested because we cannot read the source of its citation because of its being given in an unreadable language on the English Wikipedia. I've helped the author of this particular article clean up quite a few articles, such as Nikolai Leskov. The author, Evermore2, has 6 DYKs here, and many FA and GA articles on ru.wiki. I'll eventually fix up and maybe expand this one. Less reactionary reply - Did you yourself look at the actual content? The article made a reasonable claim of significance ("has many hit singles across Africa") - which may well have been a hoax, or factually incorrect (I can't find anything to support it) - but - there's no way in heck that you could have exhausted all levels of enquiry, or have made a reasonable decision regarding whether the at-face reasonable claims were enough to warrant an A7 deletion, within less than a minute. This is basic stuff. Regardless of which, your tone is very much one that goes against everything we stand for with regards to interactions. I understand that you're new, and that some of the things you see as an administrator day in and day out can callous you to the basics, but this is important. This is fundamental. We're supposed to be the caretakers who look after editors, work with editors, and are beholden to editors. If those types of attitudes prevail we become 'above' editors. And we're just not.

I have seen a couple of admin actions of yours crop on my watchlist - actions which were entirely good ones, but this, however, is definitely not one of them. In addition to Panyd's excellent points on editor retention, I would ask you to think about how endorsing (by deletion) the deletion of an article which patently didn't satisfy the A7 criterion, and describing the good faith edit which produced it as "garbage" would have affected your RFA. This article looked like either a hoax (the album titles looked generic and hoaxy) or self-promotion of a non-notable person, had no source, and so I deleted it. Perhaps I was wrong. I do my best to keep mistakes to a minimum.

Good afternoon INeverCry,

I just wanted to check with you why you deleted my page Truth In Action Ministries (TIAM). This Ministry was formerly known as Coral Ridge Ministries (CRM) and had a page on Wiki. But that page was falsely redirected to Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. Though both have been founded by D. James Kennedy, they are not affiliated.

I also understand that my article was somewhat short, but proper research takes some time and I wanted to correct the obvious mistake to think that Coral Ridge Ministries and Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church are the same.

I you would please be so kind and undelete the article and give me some time to expand it, I would highly appreciate that.

I am also aware that people affiliated with an organization (as I am with TIAM) are to be very careful as to what they write about their own organization, so it doesn't seem like a self-advertisement, as well as what they are writing about their competitors. Later I think is very little risk, since Christian organizations normally don't compete with each other, but rather work hand-in-hand.

Only the history section would be at all appropriate as an article, but reliable sources are needed to demonstrate notability. What you call an opposing view is just conjecture. I deleted this as per consensus; the packaging artwork is copyrighted. The 2 delete votes make the reason for deletion quite clear, and so I left the PUF to be closed by AnomieBOT, rather than manually closing it and repeating the delete votes and nomination rationale. As for the Commons issue, I'm sure the deleted files will be restored some time soon. Dear I Never Cry, I'm sorry if my writing wasn't very elegant. I'm a business manager, therefore, I'm sure my writing skills are not as developed and refined as yours. I see you are a poetry connoisseur so I apologize if the article was not aesthetically polished. My Wife's family name is ROVEDA and in about 4 months we will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. As a present to my Wife, I wrote the family name origin on Wikipedia since several other families names that are published on the website. In Hungary, her name is easily found in books encyclopedias and so forth, but we live in America and she just doesn't have web links in English to refer to. I have no advertising or any financial intentions related to the site. I just want to post info in English on it instead of just using the other available ones in Western European Languages. I'm sorry for my ignorance but to be quite honest I couldn't even understand the reasons that were given for the deletion of the page. I just don't see how writing about my family could be "vandalism"? Could you Please explain why the page was deleted? What should I do to be able to post the page back? What needs to be fixed? Hi, I'm just querying the deletion of the article on Tetsudo. Not that it has been deleted, just that I'd like a bit more details on why.

Now, I was figuring it'd be a tough sell as far as notability was concerned, and that was flagged up in the review, so the article getting deleted for that was always a possibility. The thing is, apparently you deleted it for for G4 (Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion).

Looking at the deletion logs, the last two versions were deleted for copyright violations. That wasn't even something that was flagged when the article was reviewed, and was something I was aware to avoid when I wrote it.

So, my version has been deleted for being much the same as the previous deleted versions. But the previous versions were deleted for something that did't apply to this one.

I'm not arguing against the deletion, as I said it was always a possibility, I'd just like a bit more guidance as to exactly what I fell foul of. Could you let me know, please?

The AFD was actually for notability, not copyvio: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tetsudo. This is still the main issue, as the sources you gave include a small local source, facebook, and a blogspot source. These aren't sufficient sources for demonstrating notability. Hi! I'm currently trying to figure out how to handle the crosswiki damage from the above case, where basically people paid a company a lot of money to get a Wikipedia article written about them. It may be different people meatpuppeting but it seems to be one company, so we treat them as one. I've made a summary of the crosswiki part at m:User:Rschen7754/Reports/Morning277 of all the blocked accounts on this wiki, whether found by behavior or CU. What would be the best way to handle this? Commons got a lot of the impact - there's a lot of corporate logos and personal photos that I fear are copyright violations without any proper OTRS ticket or fair use (which can't be done on Commons anyway). Also, my guess is that you want to block all the accounts and CU for any more that pop up.

I've deleted the google earth screencap. The logos should be deleted if they're complex enough to be copyrighted, don't qualify as {{PD-Textlogo}} etc, or, if the company has no wiki articles in any language, I often delete or DR them as out of scope. Here they could be FFD as non-encyclopedic. As for the above sock issue, Tiptoety is looking into it, and he tells me WMF legal is as well. INeverCry (talk) 04:56, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Deleted Page Exosite (company)

You're listed as the user that deleted the page Exosite (company) with the reason that the page was created by a banned user, that as far as I can tell was banned because they were getting paid to make pages. I'm an employee at Exosite and I'm not aware of any being paid to create this page (but I was not directly involved in it's creation). I am not an expert of Wikipedia's rules, but we are certainly not intending to break any of them. Looking through what's left of various bits of history it looks like all User:Hoomanhaz (Listed as a sockpuppet of User:Morning277) did was move our page from Exosite to Exosite (company). INeverCry, I am sorry that I felt the need to speak plainly with respect to your admin actions today. I've been observant of your work on Wikipedia, and those actions seem very out of character for you; I've always thought well of both your editing and your admin actions. People burn out, but those who are most dedicated to the project keep pushing themselves until something breaks if they feel there's nobody else to take over the tasks they've put a lot of effort into. I suspect that this is what has happened here. I do hope that you'll continue with the project, although you might want to take some time to decompress. I don't normally "discuss" an arbitration request directly with a party on their talk pages, but I thought I should let you know that I really wish things hadn't gone this way.
