From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new.

However, in this particular case, please be aware that I have undone your move without moving the page. According the band's website, the official name is "Cesium_137"; however, since Wikipedia articles cannot display underscores in the title, I believe it would be best to leave it with a space rather than a colon. Thank you for notifying me about the name change, I got confused about the artist name because they have only recently changed their name from Cesium:137 to Cesium_137. I would also like to thank you for telling me about the page moving feature which I was not aware about before I did the edit. I will continue to edit the band's wikipedia page though because the article seems incomplete and needs more information.IAINATOR 09:15, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I did check the changes. The link was blocked by my anti-virus software because it said it was porn. That made me think it was vandalism. Sorry if I'm wrong, and thank you for letting me know leujohn (talk, contribs) 09:52, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

VNV Nation

[edit]

removed compilation appearances from discography due to cluttrt, impropaer formatting and the fac that it should be on a discog page for the band and not the main wiki article

I'm not going to undo this because it would probably start an edit war, but I typed up most of the discog for VNV, which took a while, and seeing you just trash it like it's nothing really ticks me off. You probably don't give a crap anyway, so let me explain... I agree maybe the compilation list may be a bit much, but I think we should have at least the album formats (aka... CD, DVD, 2XCD) and label credits listed for the main releases.

The album formats should be listed is because I believe the individual album articles should all be deleted as they aren't really notable enough. (Many album articles are being deleted anyway – not by me - but by others who are stressing notability here, and undeground bands are getting hit (because they aren't popular in the mainstream). Their arguments are had the album won grammy award or something like that, then they'd be notable enough to keep, but although VNV is popular (for an underground band) most people out there don't even know who they are. Anyway, if the album articles are deleted then the main wiki article would be the only source for that info – which you just deleted. Seee what I'm saying?

Also, you say "improper formatting" – what "formatting" are you talking about?

Anyway, I'd appreciate if at least the lable info and album formats are returned to the article. Or at least point out what "formatting" you're talking about so I can see if it says things like that cannot be added. Thanks for your time. Cyberia23 (talk) 17:52, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the support... I don't think we need to have a separate page for the discography. That is something that deletionists might target anyway. We can compromise. I just didn't want to offend you if I changed it back to how I had it. So, I'll keep what you have, but I'll add the album formats again. I'll do it later though, I'm kinda busy right now. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Proof-of-Life-AlbumArt.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Proof-of-Life-AlbumArt.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:17, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Cesium137-promo1.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Cesium137-promo1.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 23:25, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
