New baseball article improvement drive

[edit]
Baseball Greetings fellow WikiProject Baseball member! Just a quick note: there is now an article improvement drive just for baseball-related articles at WP:BBAID. Please take a look and vote on an article or add one of your own. Once an article has been agreed upon, feel free to stop by and lend a hand in getting it to featured article status. Hope you can participate! —Wknight94 (talk) 01:47, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NLDS page

[edit]

Please stop reverting. --Holderca1 20:20, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Um, no it isn't. See 2005 World Series, among others. The template looks a lot cleaner, and it is much easier to update if the game goes in extra innings, all you have to changed is the template name from 9 to a 10, or 11, ect... And just because it is what is on most other line scores is not a valid reason to change it back. It is just that all the others haven't been updated yet. If we used that logic we would still be riding horses around, why use a car when everyone had a horse. --Holderca1 20:25, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever floats your boat, I will just revert it back. Don't be surprised if you are blocked for violating WP:3RR either. The template is easier to use, if you have a problem with the way it looks, make a suggestion. --Holderca1 21:40, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, that was sarcasm in response to your childish behavior. "Fine how bout this. You do it your way but when the series is over I'm reverting it back." I didn't threaten to block you, I don't have power. I was just warning you of your behavior. --Holderca1 23:02, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey no problem, water under the bridge. --Holderca1 04:33, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you.--Holderca1 21:44, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How do you use the 64 team template? The instructions are linked to the 16 team tournament and I seem to get repeating brackets. You can look here to see what's wrong with my brackets. Kingjeff 00:26, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Texas High School 5-A Football, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Houston/Chicago game

[edit]

Hey. I was just wondering why you changed the Astros game log so now it doesn't say when the game is supposed to be made up. Why are the Astros contesting this? Ksy92003 00:32, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wild Card Templates

[edit]

Can you please tell us at Wikiproject Baseball why we need a Wild Card Template two weeks into the season? In late August, yeah, sure, not now. The last place team could win. Hornberry 23:05, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Astros Division Ranks

[edit]

It is very important that each team's Wikipedia game log be consistent, and unless you're willing to go around editing the logs of all 30 teams, we would rather if there was no division placements on the Astros' log. Plus, the standings take up valuable horizontal space that the log pages do not have; when a column is added, it compresses the other columns and sometimes causes some of the columns to overflow onto a second line, making the log look really ugly.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:HOU 1092.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HOU 1092.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. License tagging for Image:Biggio 2989.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Biggio 2989.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:06, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:2005 home run derby.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:2005 home run derby.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:42, 4 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaKBOT 21:42, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2008 Houston Astros season game log

[edit]

Hi, I am not sure how familiar you are with wikipedia but these are not your game logs or articles. We have had several lengthy discussions at WikiProject Baseball about these game logs, and have agreed that they will be editable on the articles until they are completely finished (at the end of the season), and then they will be moved onto a template. You may change the colors back to the way they were, but please do not do anything more than that. Hope this helps :)   jj137 (Talk) 16:26, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2008 MLB playoff navigation template in Google Chrome browser

[edit]

When I opened up the World Series, ALDS, NLCS, etc. pages in the new Google Chrome browser, the template stayed in the center and was overlapped by the Infobox for the particular series, so this navigation template's center-aligned text bled into the infobox, just legibly but very inelegantly.

In my amateurish way, I tried without success to move the template itself to the left, both in the playoff pages and on the template page. The next best solution was to move the text inside the template to the left, which cured the problem in Chrome.

However, after you (HouAstros1989) had moved the template's text back to the center, I later went to see what happened in more widespread browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and the obsolescent Netscape Navigator (based in its final versions on Firefox), on my Windows Vista computer with a small screen monitor, and they all moved the template around more or less satisfactorily to fit the available space, even with sidebars opened, thus largely avoiding the problem of text bleeding across boxes.

Some day this will all be fixed in Chrome, but by then, no doubt, the 2008 World Series pennant will be flying over Fenway, as pitchers and catchers report for 2009 spring training. To see the appearance and resolution of a rather similar problem, see Talk:New York City mayoral election, 1917. Any ideas in the meantime (while the 2008 playoffs are still imminent)?

(And please don't be shy about moving this whole discussion over to Template talk:2008MLBPlayoffs if you think that's a better place for it.) Shakescene (talk) 05:54, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Joy to the World (House) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable without significant coverage in independent reliable sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. SummerPhD (talk) 02:27, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Jack, Jesse, Julie.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:45, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Ambassador Program in Houston

[edit]

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian from Houston. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors from the Houston area, to help with Wikipedia assignments at Texas Southern University. Classes at TSU will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester, and the role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone in Houston who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page. Thanks!--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:09, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Astros game log

[edit]

Hello,

I was the one who created (well, actually, I didn't create it so much as tweak so that it looks the way it does now) this year's game log for the Boston Red Sox and I noticed that the one you created for the Astros looks almost 100% identical, minus a few minor details here and there. The legend colors for "clinched playoffs" and "eliminated from playoff contention" were even the same, so I was just curious to see if you were copying off ours over on the Red Sox page (which is totally fine by me, by the way). When I first created that design for the Red Sox, I actually assumed it didn't look that good and that someone would delete it; little did I know it would worm its way onto another page. =P

Thanks!
