Independent Music Awards
Sure I only changed it over from a speedy CfD request from Category:Independent Music Awards Winners to Category:Independent Music Awards winners when I noticed that the category only had two entries and I decided to fill it out. If you think that it should be deleted, I suggested that you bring it up at CfD. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 08:51, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Lembo
The middle initial seems to be commonly used. See use of middle initial on official website here, in title of testimony here, in signature on official document here. Indeed, a Google search reveals 9,060 hits for "Kevin Lumbo" and 9,780 for "Kevin P. Lumbo." I think the use of the "P." fits in best with our naming conventions on people. Geethali Norah Jones Shankar
Hello! Norah Jones' birthname is listed as Geethali Norah Jones Shankar, that's evidence enough for me that her parents used the name, and the Geethali Shankar parts of her name surely aren't American – I assume their Bengali, yes? If so, why shouldn't there be a Bengali transliteration of her name? I would bet money that her father used it! Ashanda (talk) 13:38, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
Peer review
Hello Hekerui. I have put Thomas Beecham up for peer review with a view to getting the article to FA standard. I'd be most grateful for any comments you might have - particularly on the images, but also on anything else. No hurry with this. Tim riley (talk) 17:33, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry about this. A drive-by editor has thought fit to close the PR after less than 2 days and has, for some inexplicable reason, nominated the article for FA. I have naturally opposed the nomination as premature (some might also say discourteous, but let it pass) and will get the PR reinstated as soon as I can. Meanwhile, sorry you are being mucked about by this other editor. Tim riley (talk) 10:23, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

State amendments banning same-sex unions
As currently written, the article is very US oriented. In the US, same-sex unions is a common name to describe both marriages and other forms of legal binding couples agreements. Defense of marriage is a POV name adopted by religious groups to make it sound like they are defending marriage from attack rather then trying to prohibit same sex partnerships. If there is a better name that avoids the POV of the previous name and makes this clear from a worldwide prospective, then propose it. The policy is to "prefer non-judgmental language" and to "accurately indicate the relative prominence of opposing views" those points were clearly not supported by those seeking to keep the previous title. I suppose you could have made an argument that instead of same sex union we could have used same-sex marriage which might have been clearer, but that was not discussed as an option. Other options could have included 'civil unions', 'gay marriage' and 'domestic partnerships'. Vegaswikian (talk) 17:56, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
I updated the data of the article, and I'm planning to make brief articles. According to you, who are the artists that don't need your "notability guideline" template. --Opus88888 (talk) 21:20, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

What does the trivial info you readded have to do with anything? CTJF83 09:40, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- Why bring it up on the talk page, when we can discuss it amongst ourselves first? By your reasoning, Same-sex marriage in Iowa should say: "Iowa became the only jurisdiction in the United States west of the Mississippi River to allow same-sex couples to marry." And as far as "geographical distribution of SSM in the U.S.", Iowa is the only state not in the northeast that allows marriage. So if anything, there should be mention that Iowa, in the Midwest and away from the northeast has marriage. CTJF83 09:59, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

French Senate election
If wikipedia's policies allow a false statement to be published simply because this is what a random unknowledgeable website says, then I'd say there's something wrong with wikipedia's policies. Meanwhile, I'm a French Poli Sci student (and a political nerd) and I have the arrogance to assume that for this kind of things what I say shouldn't be worth less than a random article. But, if you absolutely want a source, here is one : http://welections.wordpress.com/2011/09/26/french-senate-2011/
"Because of the Senate’s rural bias, the Senate has always been a “chamber of sober second thought”, and, by consequence, quite conservative. The Socialist left has never won a majority in the Senate."
"The brain-dead media usually says that “the Senate is right-wing since 1958″, assuming they don’t go sensational on us and say that it’s been right-wing since 1876. While a case could be made that, by modern definitions of left and right, the Senate has been more ‘right-wing’ for its history, it is not quite correct to say that the right has held the Senate."
Clear enough ?
Antonio V (talk) 16:45, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- There is always a simple way to solve this : link to the wikipedia articles showing the Senate elections during the Fourth and Third republic. Or, if you prefer, link to the sources these wikipedia pages refer to. You'll acknowledge that the left, as defined today, has never held a majority in the Senate. This is an uncontestable fact, not a subjective point of view.
- I have nothing against medias in general or Reuters in particular, but for these kind of subjects they are utterly unreliable (as this case proves). So the question is, how is having a worthless source better than having no source at all ?
- Now, I won't lose my sleep if the wiki page keeps stating something false, but since I like wikipedia and I'm trying to make it better, I genuinely think that we shouldn't leave on a wiki page a sentence that is just not true. Do as you feel : as for me, I think I've done my job.
- Also, sorry if I sounded aggressive. That wasn't my purpose at all and I understand your point of view even though I don't share it.

Miklos Jancso Article Assessment
Thank you for reviewing the WikiProject Biography assessment for the Miklos Jancso article. I knew the article warranted an upgrade from Stub-class, but was not entirely sure if it met the criteria for C-class, so I erred on the side of caution in assessing the article as Start-class, a decision which was disputed by User:66.212.78.220.--TommyBoy (talk) 00:29, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Your recent CSDs
I declined a few of them - you added an F9 tag - as the uploader has not claimed ownership, the F11 tag is more appropriate - F11 says "If an uploader has specified a license and has named a third party as the source/copyright holder without providing evidence that this third party has in fact agreed, the item may be deleted seven days after notification of the uploader" - which is what has occurred with those images - in fact several were already tagged with the F11 tag {{di-no permission}}. Ronhjones (Talk) 23:28, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
- These images aren't allowed to be changed, so changing them and uploading them under a false license is copyright violation. Hekerui (talk) 07:40, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
I removed what I think was all of the copyright violating language. If it's still untenable, send this matter to WP:AfD. Bearian (talk) 00:18, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind words and for your contributions to the article. I did have one question, which I posted on the article's talk page. I am not very familiar with Indian classical music (or Indian music in general), but I often use select articles to learn about a particular subject (A Meeting by the River for example). I look forward to completing the article, promoting to GA status and hopefully adding a quality contribution to WP India and WP in general. Article creation
Hi Brother, Thanks for the input. I am very careful in creating new article, and start those that qualify to be on Wikipedia. This is a typical problem we face in creating India-related articles as the subjects are not documented, but for a few media coverage. So I create articles which I can find news sources for. These classical song related articles that I have been creating are very popular in concerts etc. Not having an article on Wikipedia for such popular songs is a big void. I have started, for example, Hangama Hai Kyon Barpa article, which at the time was a one line article, but now its of decent quality. There are numerous such examples in other areas. Please understand that here we face a unique problem of not finding sources for great many articles. That's been a major frustration with my contributions over the years. Cheers Randhir 03:11, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Would CNN México be a reliable source to site? I found an article it did about the Quintana Roo situation (http://mexico.cnn.com/nacional/2011/11/30/sin-hacer-una-reforma-legal-quintana-roo-realiza-sus-primeras-bodas-gay) titled "Sin hacer una refoma legal, Quintana Roo realiza sus primeras bodas gay" (Without legal reform, Quintana Roo has its first gay weddings). Quintana Roo
- Copying and pasting is perfectly acceptable. It happens all the time. See Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
- It is acceptable to create the article, because even if same-sex marriage isn't legal there, it can still chronicle what is going on. Examples: Same-sex marriage in Australia and Same-sex marriage in Scotland.
- No one owns the article, and all are welcome to edit it. In reality it needed its own article so the topic can organically grow.
I hope this helps, and I take no offense. Me-123567-Me (talk) 21:03, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
