Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Al Hidayah (Organisation), by Ultrabias (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Al Hidayah (Organisation) fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

blatant advertising, WP:NOTABLE

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Al Hidayah (Organisation), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 00:42, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re: Comments on my talk page.

[edit]

Walaikum salam akhi,
I have to say I was a bit shocked by your message to me. Please refrain from comments such as "what is wrong with you," "what is your problem," and "you need to be more open minded". The official Wikipedia:No personal attacks and Wikipedia:Civility policies are relevant here.
As far as me supposedly editing pages in reference to him "in a negative manner" and that he "challenges my point of view" I believe you need to review the [[[Wikipedia:Assume good faith]] behavioral guideline.
In regard to you not letting me or anyone else edit certain pages, I believe you need to review the official Wikipedia:Ownership of articles policy. We are all free to help improve upon this site and it is not for an editor to decide who else is allowed to edit or not.
Now, the meat of the issue, honestly I did not know that. I have never heard of him before you created the article on him, was not aware that the "head of al-Azhar" holds him in such high esteem or that one scholar from Deoband respects him. Obviously he is notable enough to warrant his own article as I have seen the number of books he has authored and his activities in da'wah, but that he is one of "the greatest scholars of this time" is an opinion, and there are a number of present day scholars who have recieved more coverage and thus are more notable, and this goes double for both Br. Tahir and others in regard to the scholars of the past.
In short, I think you should step back for a bit and relax. Nobody is trying to attack the man, we are just trying to keep things neutral. MezzoMezzo 23:07, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reconsidering

[edit]

I've done some thinking over the weekend and decided that perhaps I was too flippant with you before. Here are some of the issues at hand.
Template:Muslim scholars in its current state is unorganized and seems to have some odd criteria. I will consent to moving this to its discussion page where we can go down the list of more recent scholars and discuss their notability. What I will need from you are second hand sources of Dr. Qadri's notability - i.e., not from his own website or sites of his organizations. See if you can get me some articles from sources like the BBC, maybe some major Pakistani papers demonstrating how publicly visible he is. After that we need to discuss others on or not on the list as well. I think the main criteria should not be what "school of thought" someone is, but rather their being recognized as having scholarly knowledge in some way. Ayatollah Sistani, for example, is controversial due to his positions but his knowledge is not disputed, so in his case I think he belongs on the list. Hisham Kabbani on the otherhand is disputed knowledge wise and I would argue that he shouldn't be on the list (just using him as one example of someone who is disputed, not attacking the man personally). We should also keep it on that discussion page in case anyone else wants to jump in as well.
In regard to Dr. Qadri's book, my main issue isn't that it isn't notable but rather that it isn't a Secondary source; it is a Tertiary source. It is still a valid source of information but histriographically speaking, it's a different kind of source. I think a review of the terminology on the links I provided there might help.
Please let me know what you think of my suggestions and hopefully we can accomplish more working with one another. MezzoMezzo 16:48, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry about it, I was short with you as well. I think the best place to put those sources is on the actual talk page for the template, that way other people may see them as well.
In regard tp Dr. Qadri's collection of hadith, it may be a non-issue because I put another suggestion on the talk page for the list of sunni texts page. The page sort of just looks like a big long list to me and may be better at a category than a page. As for the template on hadith collections, while it's newer than the others it's still a hadith collection with its own article so in retrospect I think I may have been too short with deleting it before. i need ur Help in Maintaining truth on WIKI pages related to sufism and sunniyat . Like Barelwi page on which vandalism is always caused by MEZZO MEZZO .Msoamu 17:17, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not accuse good-faith edits of being vandalism Msoamu, as this is a violation of both the Wikipedia:No personal attacks policy and the Wikipedia:Assume good faith behavioral guideline. Hassen, I am sorry that this user is now harassing you about this as well. MezzoMezzo 19:04, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Muslim scholars template

[edit]

I added Dr. Qadri and did some other work in the way of adding birthdates, putting scholars in chronological order, etc. Let me know what you think. For the hadith collections template, I think we should be able to knock that one out soon as well inshaAllah. Get back to me when you get the chance. MezzoMezzo 03:27, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you're ok with its current version I guess it's good to go. If not, just make any changes you feel would improve it. As far as placing it on the pages for individual scholars, that's a formatting thing that needs to be looked at for each article. Some of them might have other templates that could make the page bloated; i'm still learning about this myself so your guess is as good as mine. The Manual of Style has a lot of information that can help. MezzoMezzo 18:40, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Faridfather.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 14:13, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MuhammadinSKY.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MuhammadinSKY.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:18, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kind Words

[edit]

Salaam brother. jazak'Allah for your kind words, it seems from some of the posts later down on your talk page you talk to the entire world as though you are a supreme being.

Once again, please read the personal attacks and civility policies, or how about actually attending a real Sunni gathering and hearing what the REAL, AUTHORISED, SUNNI scholars have to say on the topic of character.

Unspecified source for Image:Faridfather.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Faridfather.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:40, 23 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 13:40, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London

[edit]
Wikimedia UK logo
Wikimedia UK logo

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

Thanks for uploading Image:Minhajlogo.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 09:06, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Logo-tmu.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo-tmu.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 13:22, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Al Farghana Institute

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Al Farghana Institute, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No need for this article at all on here

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Al Farghana Institute

[edit]

I have nominated Al Farghana Institute, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Al Farghana Institute. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message.  – iridescent 21:39, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed userpage from Category:Minhaj-ul-Quran

[edit]

Sorry for the intrusion; I edited your user page so it no longer appears in Category:Minhaj-ul-Quran. According to WP:CAT#Categorizing user pages, user pages should only be categorized in "user categories" and not in categories that are also shared by Wikipedia articles. But you could always create a new user category for Minhaj-ul-Quran if you thought there was a need for it. Regards, TheGrappler (talk) 04:20, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

London Wikimedia Fundraiser

[edit]

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://twiki.riteme.site/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 22:56, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Waheed and Naveed Chishti has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability, no reliable sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proposed deletion of Minhaj us Sawi

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
