Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/GooberGorbachev83, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community. theinstantmatrix (talk) 13:49, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello, I'm requesting that my account is unblocked. I'm am not a sock puppet of GooberGorbachev83 but it is true that I know him in real life. I was never attempting to vandalize but I was trying to undo the vandalism that GooberGorbachev83 was committing.I'm unsure if this is against the rules of Wikipedia as I'm pretty new to it. I'll be honest, I'm a little bit confused on how both of us having two digits at the end of our name was a good enough reason for us both to be blocked? Maybe I'm missing something? If there is anything I can do to get myself unblocked I'm willing to do so. I don't think that I am a threat to Wikipedia. If I am unblocked I will make productive contributions to the site. Thank you, Hapaxlegomenon42

Decline reason:

You need to explain why you're both using the same IP address. Also, you previously said that you were just reading the article when you spotted vandalism. Now you say that you know this person? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 13:08, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 15:25, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello, thank you for the response. The reason that we have the same IP address is because we go to the same university, as you can see we have a static IP. Yes, I do know her very well. I'm willing to answer any questions you mighty have about her. The reason why I omitted this fact, and said I was just reading the article, was that I was afraid that she would get into trouble. If my account were to be unbanned I promise to have a positive influence on the community and be a constructive editor in the future. Hapaxlegomenon42 (talk) 13:46, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I start by noting that this is purely a procedural decline and does not go to the substance of your reasoning. As you were blocked as part of a checkuser action, this block can only be appealed to the English Wikipedia Arbitration committee as per the instructions here. You can initiate an request by emailing the committee using the email function. I would include that you 1. knew this person and saw them vandalizing Wikipedia; 2. that you were in good faith attempting to revert the vandalism; and 3. in the future, you will bring the vandalism from this specific person to the attention to administrators in other ways than editing the page directly, as that kind of editing is highly suspicious.
