[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from She Code Africa. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. She Code Africa moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, She Code Africa, is not suitable as written to remain published. It appears there is a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 22:41, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Onel5969 I'm not affiliated to She Code Africa. It's a tech community that has been guiding young women in Nigeria for years. I'm removing information that I can't find reference for online. I'll ping you once its ready. Hannydevelop (talk) 07:13, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi. You obviously have some relationship with the group. How else did you take the pictures in the article? Onel5969 TT me 18:28, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @Onel5969 SCA has a publicly available google drive folder, containing pictures and their logo. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Npvw-NNxjXAltDQ90dvb0cjGx9Vjtu3C
- I read the commons requirement and realised I just need to license publicly available images Hannydevelop (talk) 18:46, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

- Hello @Onel5969 do I delete the pictures? Is there a license for publicly available images? Seeing that the only reason you moved this to draft WP:DRAFTOBJECT is because of the image "COI", I'll like to fix this so that you can move the page. Hannydevelop (talk) 19:12, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

You also seem to have a sense of urgency here. Why? You do not need the whole url when linking to the draft, I've fixed this for you. 331dot (talk) 12:34, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
- Note that Primefac removed the UPE tag ("not UPE") and re-submitted the draft themselves. Hence, Hannydevelop most likely just wants to iron-out any issues before another reviewer comes along. Esowteric + Talk + Breadcrumbs 14:09, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

Paid editing
[edit]Hello Hannydevelop. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Hannydevelop. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Hannydevelop|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 11:37, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @Theroadislong I wasn't paid to write this article. According to the COI template, you need to point out what part looks like an advert or COI. I'll be grateful if you can point this out. I'm a new writer and I've spent weeks working on this article. Hannydevelop (talk) 11:52, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

- You say "published a story when I wrote a JavaScript article for them" so you have a connection with them which we call a "conflict of interest" which you need to disclose on your talk page. Theroadislong (talk) 14:13, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

- Here's what COI reads:
- https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest
- Conflict of interest (COI) editing involves contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships. Any external relationship can trigger a conflict of interest. Someone having a conflict of interest is a description of a situation, not a judgment about that person's opinions, integrity, or good faith.

[edit]Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Hannydevelop. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 13:59, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

Copyright
[edit]Hi again Hannydevelop. A lot of people have been commenting today on your draft. I don't see anyone specifically pointing out that the logo your have uploaded here is, as far as I can tell, not yours to license as CC BY 4.0 as (I assume) you did not create it and it is likely to be copyright of She Code Africa. Their website says "all rights reserved" and their press kit likewise says the organisation retains copyright to all images. Wikipedia does allow non-free logos to be used in articles BUT only once they are accepted into mainspace (see WP:LOGO) and you would have to follow all the instructions at WP:NONFREE to justify the inclusion/upload. Judging by the thread above on your TalkPage, you may have the mistaken impression that just because the public can see a file on a webpage, it is available to be copied. That's not how copyright works! Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:12, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

Continuing work on the draft
[edit]Ah, one thing that's happened now you've removed lesser citations is that there are blocks to text that are unreferenced. It would be best to cite the text or remove the text, before review. And afterwards someone else is bound to come along and add "citation needed" templates. Esowteric + Talk + Breadcrumbs 17:25, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
- The citations I removed are connected with She Code Africa, which makes them less notable. with an explanation from user:DragonflySixtyseven, I now understand what I'm doing wrong in citation and we've removed all promotional tones. I need four more notable sources before I can resubmit.
- I've worked on this all day and I have to start work since my team mates use EST. I guess this will remain this way until Sunday when I'm free Hannydevelop (talk) 17:34, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
