Lugnuts
Hallo, I recently came across a page where there was something by Lugnuts in the edit history, was reminded there that he is blocked, and went to his user page to see why. I don't think I followed the AfD at the time (or I have forgotten it), though I have seen plenty of Lugnuts' work over time and had a minor squabble with him many years ago. There is nothing on User:Lugnuts about the block/ban, although your notice of 2 Aug 2022 is in his talk page archive.
Should there not be a notice on his user page to explain his ban and link to Wikipedia_talk:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Conduct_in_deletion-related_editing? It would be useful clarification, and it's usual, surely? I wasn't sure where to ask about this, but you seem appropriate as the person who made that post. Thanks. PamD 09:59, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
- @PamD: There was a community consensus in 2016 to suppress the banner when {{Banned user}} is used for arbcom bans. The block reason records the ban as well -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 17:12, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

- I proudly remember having sung in an oratorio premiere seven years ago OTD. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:37, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
- More, if you like: today I have three items on the Main page, almost too much of a good thing! Bach's amazing cantata with the unusual scale, first performed 300 years ago OTD, the nun for the prostitutes, and Schumann's wedding gift for Clara. Also first day of vacation pics uploaded. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:20, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
- Today is St. Martin's Day, which stands for sharing. Sharing one more day of vacation ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:08, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

- My story today, Canticle I: My beloved is mine and I am his, - the composer, born OTD 110 years ago, didn't want it shorter (but the publisher), more here. I'm back to a good tradition: a Britten composition on his birthday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:41, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- Today: in memoriam Jerome Kohl who said (In Freundschaft): "and I hope that they have met again in the beyond and are making joyous music together" --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:07, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your essay about arbitration. Did you know this one when you wrote it? I didn't until after the case. I had no idea of arbitration then (2013). A case was requested called infoboxes, to help with the new infoboxes for opera, and I thought the best I could do was demonstrate how useful they were ;) - instead of not editing at all until the case was over. Well, a few years later they were all in place, including Joseph, where three threads of not always cordial talk are still on the talk page. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:22, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: Raymond Arritt's essay was a large influence on mine. In some ways I feel that I updated it for a modern era. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 17:08, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- It felt that way, and I'm happy to see it confirmed. Did you see on his talk that we wanted him for arb? Those were the days. Did you see that he is featured prominently in my edit notice - which at times really helps me? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:16, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

Gallery images for the lead
Hi Guerillero, following the recent discussion at Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates/Philosophy/archive1#Drive-by_comments_by_Gog_the_Mild, I'm not sure about the usage of gallery images for the lead. I've been working on a few other articles that may have a similar problem: History of philosophy, Existence, and Relation (philosophy). If you have the time, I would appreciate your input on whether it might be best to remove those images as well. I'll also ping @Gog the Mild: since they may also have something to say on that matter. Phlsph7 (talk) 08:32, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Phisph and congratulations on another cracking FA. I have no issue with galleries as the lead issue per se, rather, as I said, I was a little unhappy that all three of the non-Western philosophers were on the second row; it sent an unfortunate (not so) subliminal message. As for them all being men, MOS:PEOPLEGALLERY may or may not apply. In case it helps, the MoS comments "It is common for an article's lead or infobox to carry a representative image—such as of a person or place, a book or album cover—to give readers visual confirmation that they've arrived at the right page." As someone else suggested, maybe an image of The Thinker? Gog the Mild (talk) 21:55, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with Gog on almost all accounts here. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 17:09, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for helping clarify the issue. If the problem is not with galleries themselves in the lead but with the variety and order of the individual images then whether the gallery images of these articles are acceptable will probably depend on how the topic is presented in the corresponding reliable sources. Phlsph7 (talk) 17:37, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Phlsph7: I think you should be very careful of a bias towards Western Philosophy. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 17:43, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- I usually try follow WP:BALANCE by basing the weight which different ideas and traditions receive on how they are presented in reliable overview sources. But this is not always easy and I'll keep your suggestion in mind. Phlsph7 (talk) 17:56, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Phlsph7, sorry for butting in. It may be worth considering the purpose of including images of philosophers in the lead to begin with. If images are there to supplement or compliment the text, its difficult to see what a reader could gain from their understanding of "Existence" by seeing an image of Plato. A painting like Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going? might fit better, although I can sympathize with abstract topics being difficult to illustrate regardless. Aza24 (talk) 23:15, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Aza24: Thanks for butting in. With such abstract topics, I often struggle to find good lead images. The idea to use the philosophers who made significant contributions to the topic in question was my attempt to solve it. However, as has been pointed out, this can create problems with variety or bias if most of the significant contributors happen to belong to the same tradition or have the same gender.
- I found a way to replace the lead images of the articles Existence and Relation (philosophy) with more abstract representations. The image you suggested for Existence could also work but I would have to do some research to confirm that the link to the concept of existence is drawn in the reliable sources. Do you have the impression that the same problem applies to the lead images of History of philosophy? Phlsph7 (talk) 09:58, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- No, I think history of philosophy is a solid place to use such images. Perhaps the difference is that the history of philosophy is really about what philosophers have chosen to write about, due to the "history" qualifier. If the page was the "history of existence in philosophy" then individual philosopher images would fit for the same reason, I think – Aza24 (talk) 21:36, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- That sounds like a useful rule of thumb for making this type of decision and could be used to explain why the gallery image of the article Philosophy had to go. By the way, I added an image of The Thinker to it as suggested by Gog. Phlsph7 (talk) 08:33, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

IECOLL-talk
Hi, Guerillero. Thank you for removing the IECOLL-talk template from the Talk:Ireland, Talk:Republic of Ireland and Talk:Ireland (disambiguation) pages. However, when I went to post a note on those pages, the template appeared on the editing screen. I don't know how to fix that. Can you maybe do it? Scolaire (talk) 12:55, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- It was on the respective edit notices such as Template:Editnotices/Page/Talk:Ireland (disambiguation). Izno (talk) 18:04, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for fixing it, Izno. Scolaire (talk) 09:50, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
