Anti-Croat circles
Hi, Gregor.
What was wrong here [1]?
These (anti-Croat circles) were the politicians that abolished many football clubs and even destroyed their archives under the lame excuse "they collaborated with enemy". These clubs were "guilty" for the sole reason that they decised to exist in despite of difficult wartimes. Kamarad Walter (talk) 21:27, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
Hi GregorB, and thank you for the invitation! Yes, I am interested in joining the WikiProject Croatia but just dont know if I am ready yet, because I am still learning all the Wiki rules (there are so many of them). I guess it is up to you to decide, since you noticed my edits. Thanks again! --Kebeta (talk) 15:28, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Question? I know how an article has been rated as Stub (or Start or ...)-Class on the quality scale, but I dont understand how an article has been rated on the importance scale. Who decide how an article is important. Is it a consensus or...? --Kebeta (talk) 16:32, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Understood. I will ask for an assessment at the WP Croatia talk page for some articles (when I get some time), because I think lots of Croatia-related articles are underestimated, especially concerning history. Regards.--Kebeta (talk) 18:33, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
I've I remove the Wikiproject Germany tag, does that mean, it never hapened and German soldiers were never at Stalingrad? How great it would be if we could remove the Wikiproject Germany from the Hitler, Goebbels and Himmler articles and be rid of them once and for all out of our history! Don't plame you for taking the Wikiproject Croatia tag off, I too wish 1933 to 1945 were wiped from history! EA210269 (talk) 04:39, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
No worries, I just read the word tenuous, which, I had to check it up, redirects to Doubt. And there can be little doubt that Croatian forces were there. Whether you want the page to be part of Wikiproject Croatia is your choice, I'm not a member and therefore don't really want to interfere there, thats why I havn't reverted you. Hope I havn't upset you to much, it wasn't intended, have a good day, EA210269 (talk) 14:43, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
CfD nomination of Category:World War II personal accounts
V.A.C.
It is a duplicate of Anti-Communist Volunteer Militia, but it's much more detailed, so I'd suggest taking the content from V.A.C. and incorporating it into Anti-Communist Volunteer Militia. Once this process is finished, merge tags can be removed and V.A.C. can be made to redirect to the target article. See Help:Merging and moving pages or ask me if you need help. GregorB (talk) 14:29, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
I'll merge the two articles but unfortunately some moderator yet delated V.A.C.
- never mind - thank you for restoring the article
I disagree on the name of Anti-Communist as in the original italian it is "Anti Comunista" the hyphen is a later error of some author. the political name, used by the fascist party administration, was "Anti Communist Volunteer Militia" but the military usual denomination was Bande V.A.C. as "Bande" is the term used by italian military for irregular auxiliary forces, see the colonial italian Army use for this I would suggest a name for the Wiki article as "Anti Communist Volunteer Militia - Bande V.A.C." merging the two names
ok, in this event I'll provide to a common definite version as soon as I'll have free time
I was thinking about a tripartition of the contents according the three enlistment areas of Montenegro, Dalmatia/Bosnia and Slovenia who also had different histories
On March 31, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Dejan Vojnović, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Hi, sorry if I write to you, but I don't want to flood the project page with my lamentations. So you're the lucky one who will be annoyed :D. Of course, if even you will tink I'm an 'intruse', you can just ignore this post, I'll survive. :)
I'm en enthusiastic contributor of the Wikipedia project, and in general I support any wiki project in any language I understand, from ages. I'm active mainly in it.wiki, where I registered the Yuma account, as it is the language I can master in the best way, and that's the reason because it happens that I'm a sysop on that wiki. But I consider myself a contributor of the whole project, and since I have a global account I do what I can with that same account anywhere I'm able to do something, spending the time I have in making some effort to contribute in collecting and developing free content. I never said I'm Italian, or Swiss, or whatever. My nationality is irrelevant: I'm a wikipedian, here. I completely agree with the philosophy of this project, beginning from the five pillars. Usually, I don't edit so much on geography articles. My interests are more 'humanistics', though I'm a wikignome on everything.
It happens, a few weeks ago, that I found an incredible rise of anger from some it.wiki editors, about a supposed anti-italian approach on the english side. Since I felt it like an absurd issue, and since I feel myself not just an it.wiki user, I tried to understand. I thougt that issue was untrue, and unjust, and basically the result of a case of trolling. The next time I logged in here, I took a look on some articles, and I found some little problems on bilingual articles. The best way to fight trolling is to eliminate the 'material' on which trolls keep feeding. That's why I pointed it, at first, to the editor. His response was harsh and non so satisfating, so I asked to the wikiproject.
Now, I'm not used to flame, but I realize that, in posting there, I probably was offending some sensitivity. But I did'nt expected to be treated as an intruse. I'm higly disappointed. We are writing an encyclopedia, we must find the most correct way to add info. But if some issues has the clear purpose of hiding as much as we can some info (today the 'italian' toponyms, tomorrow something else), I can't see the difference with the people coming here for 'exalting' such data. I probably mistaken in the way I noted it, but I'm used to be honest, and to tell what I think. Did I was offensive?
By the way, I think I rised a problem, and I contributed enough in analysing it. Sorry if I was 'intrusive'. I will try to abstain from the project page, since someone thiks I have no right to 'make lectures' (and since I'm able to keep myself cool, but sometime it's tiring). I'm confident that there is a lot of excellent users, and you will find the best way to handle it.
Humm... I don't know very well Grifter so I don't know if I must be glad or not about sentences beginning with we... By the way, I see an increasing aggressive statements against me in the talk page of the wikiproject. I definitely suspend any further contribution on that page. See you around. --Yuma (talk) 16:40, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
I feel like a murderer at the victim's funeral... nevertheless, I feel I must comment on Yuma's post since it appears to concern me. A Wikipedian's mettle can be seen in the way he handles criticism (constructive or no). I myself don't do so well there and am admittedly aggressive in discussion at times, however, I don't think this was one of those instances. In my opinion, Alasadair was somewhat unnecessarily harsh towards Yuma who seems to sincerely desire to help with this issue. No major incidents occurred, though, and all this boils down to a few "not-so-perfectly-friendly" posts. Hardly a cause for all-out "disappointment with everything".
As for this subject, and I cannot stress this enough, it is highly controversial. If you think this is bad Yuma, have a look at Talk:Kosovo, the hate is seeping out of every written word. That was Dalmatia/Istria ten months back, and you've just jumped into it: you have to be prepared for some harshness of tone, a few months there and you lose your temper and reputation but gain a cardiac disorder :P. I'll just say again, in conclusion, that the matter is controversial and that consensus needs to be reached properly before anyone forces any decisions. --DIREKTOR(TALK)19:52, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi GregorB, can you help me with Category:Kingdom of Croatia. I never made a category, can you fix what ever needs to be fixed. Thanks. --Kebeta (talk) 18:43, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! Yes you are right, definition makes the category span something like 10 centuries of Croatian history, but if (when) that come to a problem, we can make Subcategories. But, maybe this category will not be allowed after 1102, so it won't be a problem. Regards. --Kebeta (talk) 19:21, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes, they were probably two different articles before. If you look at article History of Croatia, you will see two different sections: Medieval Croatian state (until 925) and Kingdom of Croatia (925-1102). Both of them are now part of one main aricle Kingdom of Croatia (medieval). So, we should fix that too? --Kebeta (talk) 20:52, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Why should we write Serbo-Croatian in SR Croatia (the article) and other similar cases?
Did you see the discussion at Hey, Slavs in relation to the SC issue? I have found out that at books.google the 10% of books use the term Croato-Serbian. Why should this encyclopaedia differ?
What more DIREKTOR and I. Š. would want. I hope that you realize, that by various Wiki policies the RfC can "decide" (in fact give an unbounding agreement) only on the article under which the RfC were requested. The RfC on SC/CS in the SC article is not bounding for all the other articles on wikipedia. Mr. DIREKTOR deliberately disclosed only his "search" on google, but not on books.google.
Here is a very important diff from the past where Mr. DIREKTOR wrote about the bos, hrv, and also srp as being non-existant — because there is only Serbo-Croatian (by his POV). Also he describes in the same diff (slightly below his POV on languages) the POV on nations, he describes as the TRUTH (he writtes a lot of capital letters) his own POV that Bosniaks, Croats, (I presume he included the Montenegrins also) and Serbs are one nation.
It might be Ok to use the "name" of the article Serbo-Croatian in most cases but in all cases. Why? SR Croatia was not Estonian SSR (and other Baltic states) where Russian was forced as official.
Please reconsider the implications on the sources and reliability.
Many thanks for your kind review of the Croatian Wine article, and for your corrections to my beginner's wikipedese. You are perfectly right - I need to do more research on the wine producers, and I'll be very happy to do so! Cheers! Farscot (talk) 00:48, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

WP:GNG and WP:NOTNEWS conflicts. The hot news of total will have significant coverage. Some murder articles have been deleted because of NOTNEWS and BLP1E (even if the person died and is not living). I don't understand why articles are treated differently. People say WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS but that is just an excuse for unequal treatment. I have nothing against the LA Fitness murder. Hi, GregorB! I have nominated article Klis Fortress to be assessed as B-Class on Military history WikiProject. The article has been checked yes against the all criteria for B-Class status, except for grammar. Can you take a quick look and fix grammar errors in the article, or recommend some other good copy editor who has knowledge of the subject. Thanks. --Kebeta (talk) 10:37, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Croatian footballers
Hi Gregor. As you noteced ( since you´ve made the Talk pages) I´m making many footballer pages, maynly the ones that have played in Serbia and ex-Yugoslavia. I did a new one: Marijan Zovko. But I have some doubts... This time I did the Talk page. I did it as you did one other before, Davor Čop, is it OK? Whenever I do some Croatian player I´ll do it this way, should I? Another thing is about the player itself. I´m not sure if you´re the one I should ask you this stuff, couse I´m not sure you like or not football, but I´m missing all the manager years and teams of Marijan Zovko couse I can´t find more either by net or by the literature I have. I know he has been coaching many teams in Croatia. Do you know more that I missed? And, maynly, he´s named Marijan, but I also find some places where is written Marjan (without i ). Did I do it wright, Marijan, and not Marjan? If you don´t know, or don´t have time to help me, don´t warry, I´ll do further reserch in the future. Thanx anyway. Pozdrav. FkpCascais (talk) 00:18, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanx Gregor for answering me. The thing was that in the begining I didn´t used to do the talk pages cause I touth some WikiProject "leaders" are the ones that give them the low/or other "ocene". But then some other fellow wikipedian told me do it if it wasn´t too much work... So, since then, when starting a page, I try to do it as complete as possible. Please feel free to contact me whenever in need of any kind of help, and also, I already said the same to Timbouctou, feel free to complete or correct, if necessary, those pages. Regards. Naime napravio sam predložak [3], dok LAz17 i DIREKTOR uporno redirectaju na {{Urban Rail transportation in the former Yugoslavia}} ovo iako to uopće nije ista vrsta predloška. Naime, moj predložak se bavi tramvajskim prometom u Hrvatskoj, sadašnjim, bivšim, kao i tipovima tramvaja koji prometuju, npr. TMK 2200.

Hi Gregor I'm a friend of "Off2riorob". Would like some feedback on the articles I worked on & many thanks for your copy-edit work! Ps I having troubles finding good references for Southern Dalmatia (Croatia). Sir Floyd (talk) 00:22, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the offer off help. Well I'm trying to write about a large cave on the island of Korcula. It's called Vela Spila (Big Cave) [4]. Can't find much in the references department. To my own personnel knowledge, their has been some major discoveries (in old the cave). Guess I'll have to work with what I got. Cheers Sir Floyd (talk) 09:06, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
Hi GregorB! I've done my first draft of Vela Spila. Could you please take a look at it and maybe copy-edited. I want to expand on the article in the near future. Also I've been trying to improve older articles on Wiki (Korcula/Vela Luka). If you got some time could you please take a look at them. In order for them to be tidy up even more so, I feel they need a set of fresh eyes. Plus you got the right stuff to do it. Regards Sir Floyd (talk) 02:54, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Article moves
Hi, you left a message on my talk page about my article move concerning Stadion Maksimir. I did it because it seemed inconsistent to have the majority of articles about Croatian stadiums named the way they are originally called in Croatian (like Gradski stadion u Poljudu or Stadion Šubićevac) with only some of them retaining English translations in article names (like Maksimir Stadium or Kantrida Stadium). If you look at lists such as the list of Spanish stadiums, list of French stadiums or list of Italian stadiums, you will see that 99 percent of articles are named according to their original name in the native language. Granted, there are a few exceptions to this, such as Santiago Bernabéu Stadium or Vicente Calderón Stadium, but it seems that the general tendency is to keep the original name, even though you could find English-language sources for venues such as Stade de France or Stade Vélodrome if you wanted to. Having that said, I don't think that WP:UE applies here as the rules you cited concern foreign names and transliteration, which is not the issue here. The issue here lies with whether to use English-language formatting or keep the original one (whether Croatian venues should be called Stadion XXX or XXX Stadium). In my opinion it should be the former as I think we should try to stick with the official name of the venue as precisely as possible (which is also the reason I moved Stadion Kranjčevićeva to Stadion u Kranjčevićevoj ulici as it is it's full official name), but if you still disagree we could look for help at WP Football to resolve this. Cheers :-) Timbouctou (talk) 17:02, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

1981 Croatia statistics
Thank you for providing that information. The economic development of the Yugoslav republics is actually something that really interests me. Would your atlas have per capita info on cities in the former Yugoslavia? (I'm interested in the capitals so mainly Belgrade, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Skopje, Ljubljana, Podgorica and maybe some other big cities such as Novi Sad, Split, Banja Luka)? Also do you have data on the ethnic make up on the big cities of Croatia such as Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, Zadar, Pula, Slavonski Brod, Karlovac, Sisak, Varazdin etc.? If you can provide me with this data I would be very grateful. Best Regards Yugo91aesop (talk) 18:48, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Woah. That information was golden. Could I perhaps get the average gdp (Yugoslavia 100) for the following cities. I know it is asking a lot.
Slovenia: Ljubljana, Maribor, Kranj, Celje, Koper, Novo Mesto, Nova Gorica, Velenje, Domzale, Slovenska Bistrica, Krsko, Kamnik, Brezice, Ptuj, Skofja Loka, Jesenice, Zalec
Croatia: Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, Zadar, Slavonski Brod, Pula, Karlovac, Varazdin, Sibenik, Sisak, Vinkovci, Dubrovnik, Vukovar, Bjelovar, Koprivnica, Pozega, Dakovo
Bosnia: Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Zenica, Tuzla, Mostar, Bihac, Brcko, Prijedor, Bijeljina, Doboj, Travnik, Trebinje, Bugujno, Gorazde
Serbia: Belgrade, Nis, Kragujevac, Smederevo, Leskovac, Krusevac, Cacak, Valjevo, Kraljevo, Sabac, Novi Pazar, Uzice, Zajecar, Vranje, Pozarevac, Pirot, Bor, Jagodina, Prokuplje, Smederevska Palanka, Paracin, Arandelovac, Gornji Milanovac, Obrenovac, Lazarevac, Mladenovac, Cuprija, Loznica
Vojvodina: Novi Sad, Subotica, Zrenjanin, Pancevo, Sombor, Kikinda, Sremska Mitrovica, Vrsac, Ruma, Backa Palanka, Indija, Vrbas, Becej, Senta
Kosovo: Pristina, Prizren, Pec, Kosovska Mitrovica, Urosevac, Gniljane, Dakovica, Podujevo,
Montenegro: Podgorica, Niksic, Herceg Novi, Cetinje
Macedonia: Skopje, Bitola, Kumanovo, Prilep, Veles, Stip, Tetovo, Ohrid, Gostivar, Strumica, Kicevo, Kavadarci, Kocani
If you don't want to do all of them then I'm happy with the ones just in bold too. Those are towns with populations of over 50,000. The rest goes down to 20,000. I'm gonna incorporate this into articles on the cities so it won't be for a lost cause. If you can give me this info then I will be extremely grateful. Yugo91aesop (talk) 03:17, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Could I get the 1981 gdp per capita of the following municapilities in Yugoslavia.
Serbia: Priboj, Svetozarevo, Knjazevac, Apatin, Kula, Temerin, Stara Pazova, Futog, Negotin, Trstenik, Aleksinac, Sid, Vlasotince, Velika Plana, Backa Topala, Prijepolje
Montenegro: Bar, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Pljevlja, Ulcinj, Tivat
Croatia: Krapina, Kutina, Petrinja, Ogulin, Koprivnica, Krizevci, Virovitica, Pozega, Knin, Kastela, Sinj, Cakovec
A lota these you might not be able to find since the municipalities have changed since then especially in Croatia but if you can get me these stats i'd appreciate it. Do it whenever u feel like it cuz i know its annoying to go through. Thanks!

Cara & Don Marko Bon of Zrnovo
Check this out Research by Marko Marelic-S. Francisco/USA. I'm writing an article on an old Croatian Village called Cara (work in progress). Would love some input-please. I'm wondering if Mr Marko Marelic's work is ok for Wiki. Also I've written a chapter on an all round tough guy"Don Marko Bon of Zrnovo"[6]. I would like to add this to the Korcula page, if it's suited of course. Thanks Sir Floyd (talk) 00:49, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for rating that. I didn't know whether I should include it under Croatia at all, and another editor has removed the {{Croatia-hist-stub}}, no problem with that, it's easier that you get sight of it and remove it than that you never see it at all.
We're still in the middle of translating it, we have the top and tail but there is a battle missing, so if you think it is of any importance to your project at all, I should like to resubmit it again probably at the end of today (London time here). I don't mind if it still stays stub-class, but was perhaps premature for me to add the tag, and thus premature for you to assess it. Didn't realise it would be so quick!
I realise this is may be better put on the WikiProject Croatia page, and don't mind if you move it there, but I'm not and don't want to be involved in that project (not for any reason except I am concentrating on Hungary) so I talk to you personally first.
There is something you may be able to point me in the right direction: I am trying to get boundary coordinates right for {{Location map Kingdom of Hungary}} and I naively used the Croatian map, but Modrus-Fiume seems to have expanded a bit and Lika-Krbava is not the southern extent of Croatia (as it was for Kingdom of Hungary) so those coords are basically bollox. They do not have to be very precise, only to one decimal point, so if you happen to know of a town or mountain or something in those places that I could get a good fix off of that would be great. I have tried searching but cocked it up, I will continue to refine it (currently Budapest comes out too far northeast) but if you had a good e.g. seaside resort it would save my just doing it by brute force.
Thanks by the way for your very useful edit summaries. It makes a great deal of difference when it is done that way, in good faith one then accepts the edit without needing to check. THe section on the battle will be added shortly. We could not do this in a sandbox etc. cos we wanted to preserve the edit history, for the little that was there. Si Trew (talk) 12:45, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
On the other hand, if you are a deletionist who simply marks things that need improvement without actually adding any content, and does not reply to queries about your edits, then I have no time for you and will just get on with making Wikipedia better. Si Trew (talk)
Thanks for that. I would not expect usually a reply so quickly, so it just caught me by surprise you had assessed etc. so quickly. Of course, quite rightly, the articles are assessed differently from different perspectives. We are stuffing in the battle now. I've anglicised the battle maps (and at the other articles too) which does not help you much, I expect, in Croat, I have blank versions after deleting the text and finessing the rivers etc that they covered, if that is any use to you. Later I will probably make a new SVG version where the text is on a separate layer, but right now we are concentrating on translating the content. Si Trew (talk) 13:04, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
I know, but I figured that the GA review backlog is long enough for this to happen naturally :) And the article as it is complies with GA standards better than some existing ones, even with the implicit volatility. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 13:00, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

On January 5, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Music Biennale Zagreb, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
You're welcome! Nice work. For future reference you might want to copy these onto your user page or work page. They are filtered down so any image you find under them are freely uploadable to the commons if you provide the correct license/attribution:
Hi. Thanks for tagging Marci Anne Beggs just now, but after you tag a page for speedy deletion you should copy to the author's talk page the warning which is generated for you on the speedy template, towards the bottom. Otherwise the newbie author doesn't know what's happened, thinks he pressed the wrong button, and often just puts the article in again. Also, if it's a new contributor who has never had a Welcome template, it's useful to give one before the speedy warning - it makes it less BITEy, and gives useful links that may help him do better next time. {{subst:firstarticle|<article name>}} is a good one. Unreferenced BLPs
Hello GregorB! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 876 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
Thank you for taking the time to comment at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people, which will delete the vast majority of 50,000 articles created by 17,400 editors, most new editors. I notice you have one unreferenced BLP articles, so this RFC affects you personally. I hope you are able to source them before those editors who have "utter contempt" for consensus delete them. You may also be interested in the WP:Article Rescue Squadron. We have been working hard to find sources for the 236 articles which were deleted with no notice by 3 administrators. Ikip01:29, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
New editors' lack of understanding of Wikipedia processes has resulted in thousands of BLPs being created over the last few years that do not meet BLP requirements. We are currently seeking constructive proposals on how to help newcomers better understand what is expected, and how to improve some 48,000 articles about living people as created by those 17,500 editors, through our proper cleanup, expansion, and sourcing.
Thanks for your input. :) So GregoryB you think "Epidaurus - Epidaurum - Cavtat" are three different towns? This would mean after each invasion a new town would start up within the area. Hmmm... must be a cool spot, I'll have to check it out one day. Sir Floyd (talk) 22:39, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
I've check the photos, it is a cool spot! Also I've quickly check some sources and they suggest that Epidaurus - Epidaurum are one. A new settlement came into being in the middle ages (within the Republic of Ragusa). Sir Floyd (talk) 02:51, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for stopping bye at the Cavtat page. I was hoping you would. You know I always learn something new & Civitas Vetus, that was a nice touch. See Ya! Sir Floyd (talk) 10:05, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Dobar dan Gregor B & kako si? (G-Day & how are you?) I've got a new one, it's the Blue cave in Bisevo (that's if your interested of course). :) Have a good one! Sir Floyd (talk) 03:02, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi. Thanks for noticing the effort invested :-) Yes, I was thinking of nominating the article for DYK, probably with the hook about him working for MGM before having a successful career in photography, but there's some minor stuff to do, such as added bits of information and cleaning up here and there. I don't know whether it would pass the selection process since I've got only one English language source for it, but it's worth trying. Timbouctou (talk) 21:16, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi Gregor, I've created the Old City Hall (Zagreb) article and nominated it for DYK (with a hook saying that the building has a plaque commemorating Tesla's proposal to build a power station). The hook was verified but somebody complained about the lack of inline citations so if you can find any for the plaque or the city hall in general please feel free to add them to the article. I've also created the Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb article just now so you can have a look at it and perhaps expand with anything interesting you happen to find about it. Also, good job on the Zagreb synagogue article, I think it could easily receive the good article rating. Have you considered nominating it? Regards. Timbouctou (talk) 22:41, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
I've created the Marshal Tito Square article, so you can add it to the list :-) As for the 1964 flood I'll try to find some sufficiently detailed information about it and see if it could be turned into an article. The HRT article is weak on actual facts. As for the synagogue, I think it's looking good, perhaps it could do with some copyediting as it feels kind of choppy and perhaps some book references. Blanka also looks good, it seems to me she's ready for GA nomination. In any case, I'm willing to help, we are in dire need of better quality articles related to Zagreb and Croatia. Some sort of organised improvement drives would be great but I've left a message at Zagreb task force talk page and nobody seems to be interested. Timbouctou (talk) 07:20, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
It may interest you to know that I inserted info about the Tuskegee Airmen into this biography. If I can find any material on his undercutting the Vietnam War effort by insistence on an all-jet Air Force, I will put that in also.
On March 9, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Franjo Mihalić, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Hi Gregor. User Fajberglas recently started constributing to Croatia-related articles, including the creation of Tomislav Karamarko article. However, the person insists on listing Croatia as "place of birth", even though the consensus is to list sovereign countries at the time of person's birth. I've left him a message in his talk page, but he seems stubborn in his ways and he asked for some sort of official policy regulating this. I'm sure there were some discussions about this somewhere but I can't find it so if you would be so kind and look it up and provide links to relevant discussions or at least explain the importance of consensus builing and formatting conventions to him, I'd appreciate it. Thanks man. Timbouctou (talk) 19:28, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
To tell you the truth, I don't know if there is an official policy at all. But I know someone who is likely to know the answer (User:Evlekis), so I'm going to ask him. Failing that, one can point to a general consensus which is more or less evident (I just randomly chose Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, Slobodan Milošević and Milan Kučan, and all three are conforming.) GregorB (talk) 19:49, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Hello to both of you. This is an interesting point and I believe that there is currently no policy. I, like many, have always favoured historical accuracy for a multitude of reasons and I have found that it is only on a politically driven motive that users (normally IPs) have taken to modern day states. There can be no politics with history, for example, Yugoslavia - in one form or another - can at most cover persons born 1918 to 1991 with the extension to 2006 for Serbia and Montenegro. Before 1918 we have to consider such entities as Kingdom of Serbia, Austria-Hungary, Republic of Venice, Ottoman Empire, Holy Roman Empire etc. and you can see why these details are relevant to each individual. It is pointless listing a person who lived millennia back as being born in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. If I knew how, I would push for a policy to the point that such amendments would create tags for the Recent Changes watchers to notice (eg. tag: historical details removed). However, there is one way - if you favour either version but not on any political ground - that you can come out on top every time. Consider the following:
Mr. XYZ - born Manastir, Ottoman Empire (now Bitola, Republic of Macedonia) on 18 May 1895, died Titograd, SR Montenegro, SFR Yugoslavia (now Podgorica, Montenegro) on 4 August 1986.
Here you have information listing everything, so you can use the argument that a user is being disruptive if he removes the historical section, and he cannot claim any kind of "uncluttering" remark because it does not count if he is removing factual information. How does this sound for the time being? User:Evlekis (Евлекис) 03:42, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
This is a good point, and I agree: parenthetical remark is both true and useful to a reader who may not be familiar with the historical/geographical/political background. Timbouctou, no worries - I'll write a note to Fajberglas explaining the situation, and I think this is going to work out. GregorB (talk) 08:48, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Croatian intelligence agencies
First I start to write about Croatian Police, and then i saw this article. The article was terrible, tottaly out of date and with false data. In the next days I will rewrite it, and see what I can do with other articles; some of them probably needs to be deleted, but I don't know how can I delete or propose for deletion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fajberglas (talk • contribs) 08:08, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Since 2006, Wikiproject Running has been improving the coverage of running-related sports on Wikipedia. We could use your help. Currently we are tagging and assessing running related articles including a backlog of articles that we have created over the years before we included assessment parameters in our templates. GA Review for Klis Fortress
Thanks for copyediting GregorB. Since you are familiar with the subject, your help is very appreciated. I hope we will manage to turn it into good readable prose within seven day. BTW, Zagreb Synagogue article in which you vastly contributed can be a next WikiProject Croatia GA article. If you need assistance, I'd be happy to help. Kebeta (talk) 18:51, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
I have seen the recent discussion about Zagreb Synagogue. It seems to me that the article is on the good way to GA, especially with the "mother of all sources". I'd be happy to pitch in when the time comes, and I have noticed that Laurinavicius is also eager to hepl. Regards, Kebeta (talk) 07:59, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
I happened to notice today that your edit count had long surpassed mine, and instantly thought to myself - I can't let this effort as a whole go unnoticed any further :) --Joy [shallot] (talk) 12:47, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
You might want to take a look at this one. It was just created today and rather a mess, also pretty much copied from his websites. See [7] and [8], and [9] for background. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 18:08, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
I've read your discussion, of course. It's hard for me to say exactly at the moment whether the plan is fine enough. If not, I hope we can make it better later. --Silverije (talk) 17:43, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
Hello GregorB! (Dobar Dan). I've created Ivana Lang and I would be honoured if you could have a look at it. She seems to be an important Croatian musician.:) Sir Floyd (talk) 14:25, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
I had not seen that. Thank you. The Zagreb Synagogue is certainly one of the most beautiful. And, of course, no style is ever "pure." Some aspects of Rundbogenstil can indeed be seen in the rows of arched, inverted crenelation, and the tripartie massing. That aid, Franjo Klein tined in Vienna, where Ludwig Förster had recently completed the Leopoldstädter Tempel. It was the biggest deal synagogue in the capital of the Empire. It features the same rounded arches, the same tripartie massing and the same inverted crenellations. The two also share the emphasis on Moorish detailing, the same interior shape with Moorish patterning, the same minarets and small, decorative accent windows above the arches. Zagreb is widely admired, and widely regarded by its admirers as one or a large number of Moorish revival synagouges of the era that offer homage to Forster's Leopoldstädter Tempel, although Zagreb is an original work that does not copy the Vienna synagogue slavishly. It really is Moorish. If you will look at the range of Rundbogenstil buildings and synagogues, you will see how different the style of the Zagreb synagogue really is. we can probably do a Category:Synagogues that echo the Leopoldstädter Tempel.OldShul (talk) 12:50, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
thanks. I'll do it that way. Putting them in the article. But Later. When I have time to blank the category.OldShul (talk) 13:24, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for the heads up. I'll see and include whatever I can find on him in the stub. I'm sorry for not helping much about the synagogue article but I didn't have time in the past month or so for any wiki work which requires brain activity. Anyway, congratulations for upgrading it to GA :-) Timbouctou (talk) 20:17, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi, I saw you reassessed a number of road related articles, so could you take a look at A1 (Croatia). I expanded it substantially and nominated it, at least I tried to, for DYK - I don't know If class rating has any bearing on that nomination or not, but I figured I'd ask you anyway. Hi,
I've recently done changes to several articles that are about gnutella and related services and clients to change the upper case "Gnutella" occurrences to lower case ones, as this is how gnutella was originally written, before that trend came up to capitalize everything... As an other editor has requested a third party opinion on the matter and as I've seen you have more than one edit in P2P articles on Wikipedia, I thought you might add yours to support my point in this talk page section or in the section below.
Hi, I noticed you change a bunch of default sort tags form "UFC" to "Ufc" with the edit summary "Sort key", could you explain the reasoning behind the caps change, as UFC is an abbreviation for Ultimate Fighting Championship so this seems a little bit of an odd change, thanks --Natet/c13:41, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:ConTEXT 0.98.3.png
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:ConTEXT 0.98.3.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. It is illegal appropriation and copying of Croatian texts, Croatian is not Serbo-Croatian or Serbian text
Regardless of how each other a little or a lot of different grammar they have some ownership of the language, which were written and what the people who wrote them.
Croatian grammar is not Serbian or Serbo-Croatian grammar!
Serbs ilegal copying and appropriation of Croatian texts and marking them the Serbian term (Serbo-Croatian) is the criminal !
Why Serbian collaborators constantly deleted Croatian scientific texts or false. Example of deleting Croatian grammar and maliciously redirect the Serbo-Croatian, which is valid for the Croatian language!
Croatian and Serbian are different languages in a sense that they both have distinct, independent and more or less well-defined language standards. In this context, you are correct that they are different regardless of how small the difference is.
However, that simply doesn't mean that it would make sense to create a four-way fork with Bosnian grammar, Croatian grammar, Montenegrin grammar and Serbian grammar. Grammar is the area where differences are really small, unlike lexicon and orthography (where differences are still small). Creating a single article is a consequence of what makes sense and what doesn't, and not what is identical and what isn't. It is not a some kind of "verdict". GregorB (talk) 07:12, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
The article "Art Student Scam" on Administrator's board which you were involved in discussing on the articlesfordeletion page in early march
Hi. Do you agree that a group of users with strong political bias was ganging up on you and other wikipedia users on the articlesfordeletion page for the Article "Art Student Scam" with the purpose of distorting facts for political reasons. Also, do you agree that they acted to completely distort the topic of israeli spying in favor of the almost unnotable topic - chinese men selling fake art on the street that they say is real. Third, do you agree that user:huey45 is acting in "bad faith" and lying when he repeatedly claims that the sources say "the art students weren't israelis" and when user:gilisa claims that the most of the sources are unreliable and that user:huey45 is not lying. These users, who are deliberately trying to distort the contents of sources are also trying to get my account banned because they claim that huey45 is not lying.Preciseaccuracy (talk) 09:49, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
User huey45 says....
"I never once lied in regards to this issue. When I said "the previous sources", I was referring to the sources that were presented before User:Preciseaccuracy turned up and started causing trouble. What do you think the word "previous" means? When the article was about the Israeli art students last time, there was considerable doubt as to the real nationality of these salesmen. (Huey45 (talk) 06:14, 16 July 2010 (UTC)) "
Strong political bias was definitely present in the discussion
Distortion took place mostly in the form of whitewashing, i.e. by attempting to remove all references to Israel, contrary to what sources said. A nice example: a six-page Salon article does not count and cannot be used as a source because it received a perfunctory, three-sentence "debunking" by the Washington Post.
Regarding conduct of individual editors, I can't say that I noticed anyone in particular acting in bad faith. Off the top of my head, I don't have an opinion on conduct of two users you mentioned, but I'll check the link provided above. GregorB (talk) 10:09, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Other editors still make the claim that the israeli "art student" spying was an "urban myth." They will not even admit that this labeling is at least controversial. Whereas in reality, the israeli "art student" spy ring seemed to be at least "suspected."
I left this abc 20/20 article out of the discussion because it doesn't mention the "art students" specifically but does confirm that at least two known israeli spies were found to be in the u.s. illegally in 2001. They would probably say that 20/20 is not a credible or mainstream source either. I suggest that you read through this source also to verify that at least two israeli spies were found in the u.s working for a moving company that disappeared.
The 20/20 article seems to be only related to israeli organized spying and not directly to the art students so I'm leaving it out of the discussion.

I worked some more on this page, Croatian Inline Hockey League, can you maybe find the 2009 season winners? I'll take care of the team pages, but I can't find last season's results. Maybe there was no season in 2009? Yours truly, (LAz17 (talk) 20:31, 15 August 2010 (UTC)).

Hi GregorB! I have seen that you have put a 'BLP unreferenced' on the top of Luka Kaliterna article. Is that a mistake since he died in 1984, or that is a usual tag for biography of a person (dead or alive) ? Kebeta (talk) 18:06, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Populated places
Hey GregorB, I hope all is well. I've been moving articles in the Category:Populated places in Croatia category and putting them into categories by county, and I've done about 600 of them so far, with 400 more to go. I also played with the idea of creating a template such as this for every county, which would list all populated places in each county. Helpful ideas are welcome. Cheers. Timbouctou08:46, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
I agree completely with you.... BTW, have you seen changes by Krenakarore on Walls of Dubrovnik? Since I am subjective on that topic, I was wondering what do you think, are they better or worse? Kebeta (talk) 19:13, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
I wouldn't care about offline sources, as everything from them is already used in the article. The main problem is - lack of more precise informations. But, we can not speculate and write something which is not supported by sources. There is nothing that I or you can do about that. That leads us to a second problem - lack of more precise informations leaves room for substantial confusion. We should consecrate on this issue. If you could made article more simple to understand, that would be great. If the article was one sided, we wouldn't have this problem. Since I didn't want to exclude other possibilities from the article, we have a situation where things looks confusing for a new reader. My plan is to make things more clearer from the facts already presented in the article. Unfortunately, my limited English could be an obstacle in that. Regards, Kebeta (talk) 10:38, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
OK, I already clarified some things, such as Trsat vs Tarsatica, and so on...I am not sure if Diannaa can help here (she would have to know the topic it self, not only English), since copyediting is not an issue any more (although I agree that she deserves a barnstar). See you on the article's talk page. Kebeta (talk) 11:41, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Siege of Trsat is GA. Done...this was quick a job by JonCatalán! Congratulation!
I am not so pessimistic about Battle of Szigetvár. For #4 I provided both: from 19th century & modern scholarly references (ie after World War II) for for the number of troops (if necessary I could provide more). If all other points are fixed, with copyediting as a final touch, there would be no problem.
Informal process of "GA candidature" within WP Croatia sounds good, the lack of editors for such a task in questionable. Tomobe03 looks very promising.
No I will not nominate Battle of Szigetvár soon, because I am also willing to help with Tvrđa. One GA within WP Croatia per month is something we should try to accomplish. :-) Regarding the informal process of "GA candidature" within WP Croatia - the creation of page within WP Croatia would be a nice start? Kebeta (talk) 18:15, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Cite template
Hi! I've noticed you have changed formatting of some inline citations in A1 (Croatia) articles from "cite web" to "cite journal" and added some parameters to them. I tried but could not find any reference to other possible cite parameters, so could you point me to those so I could use them as well. I emulated the citation format for HUKA bulletins in A3 (Croatia) and A6 (Croatia) which I plan to submit to GAN after a copyedit (no volunteers there yet) but I am wondering if there is anything else I should implement. Thanks.--Tomobe03 (talk) 15:12, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi! A copyeditor pointed out on the Talk:A6 (Croatia) that the A6 motorway is an east-west road while the article specifies the northern and the southern termini. I must admit that is a valid argument, but the legislation (regulation on motorway chainage) specifies that the zero chainage starts at Bosiljevo 2 and that all Croatian motorways chainages start at either the northern or the western terminus - thus it follows that Bosiljevo 2 is the northern terminus. I am thinking about having the article say that the route is an east-west motorway and referencing everything else on the route as east or west of some reference point, but retaining the northern and the southern designation for the termini, plus a short passage in the route description section and a short sentence in the exit list noting and explaining this situation. Do you have any better suggestions, or should I go ahead with this? Thanks!--Tomobe03 (talk) 12:49, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Choice of title for HUKA
Hi! I just finished expanding the A4 (Croatia) and realized that an awfully lot of references point to HUKA and it occurred to me that it might be handy to have an article on that. Now, that should not be much of a problem, and I'm ready to do it, but I'm unsure whether to have its title Hrvatska udruga koncesionara za autoceste s naplatom cestarine or Croatian Association of Toll Motorways Concessionaires. Naturally, I'd create a redirect from HUKA to the full title, whichever that is, as well. Which would you recommend?--Tomobe03 (talk) 11:54, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
I've begun the copy edit process which was requested by another editor to the page, and substantially completed the lead section and the next two sections. There was much confusion, repetition and unneccessary detail which I removed. However, some of the text was so confusing that I had to guess at the true meaning and may have goofed in my interpretations. You and other main contributers may want to verify my work and make corrections. I'll do some more later. --Kevin Murray (talk) 03:21, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Regarding AfD 3 of Kresimir Chris Kunej, just wanted to say that you have yet again proved that old saying "Tko ce koga nego svoj svoga". The subject is one of a rare few Croatian articles, part of Wikiproject Croatia. Also, some editors made fun of Croatia indirectly by saying "just because some library half way around the world has his works means nothing" (we are talking National and University Library Zagreb), and after AfD 1 same editor was talking with friends and making fun saying how "subject is notable in Pakistan" thereby equating Croatia to Pakistan. You played into their games, good job, be proud of youself. Turqoise12703:00, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
What's wrong with Pakistan? It has a population 37 times that of Croatia but a GDP only 2.4 times that of Croatia. Are you casting aspersions on large, but relatively poor, countries? Bongomatic03:43, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Croats in general tend to be obsessed with proving the importance of their country to third parties and comparing Croatia to Pakistan is sure to hit a patriotic chord every now and then (for instance, Croatia's economic performance was recently compared to that of Turkmenistan by the MMF, and the comparison itself was a main talking point in the media for days to come, much more so than the negative economic indicators which were published months earlier by Croatian institutions). Turqoise here is just trying to play the patriotic card on a fellow Croatian editor somehow equating the Kunej article with patriotism in general. I also might add that there are some 6,000+ of the "rare few Croatian articles, part of Wikiproject Croatia" he refers to, the majority of which have no notability issues. Being a Croat and a professional translator myself, I find this kind of canvassing a bit out of order. Timbouctou19:07, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! I guess the task gets easier with experience. Right now I plan to do a similar thing for the A2 and A7 as soon as I finish a major dayjob project - I'm editing a bit less often lately - but decent and free images of those are hard to find.--Tomobe03 (talk) 18:13, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Please direct your comments to the article's discussion page and not to individual editors (who are marginally involved, in this particular case). GregorB (talk) 09:54, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
I noticed you added a {{maths rating}} template to the article Future of mathematics. When you add the template, please fill in all three of the fields class, priority, and field. We already have a List of mathematics articles that does not require any talk page tags, so there is no need to tag a talk page just to indicate that an article is mathematics related. The only purpose of the tag is for ratings information. — Carl (CBM · talk) 22:48, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
If we wanted to add the tags to talk pages, we could run a bot job that would add them to every math article very quickly. We have avoided doing that because the point of the template is just for ratings, not for tagging. So yes, we are different than other projects. If you don't feel comfortable adding the rating info, that's perfectly fine. But there's no benefit to adding the template without it, because we have a system in place that allows us to do perfectly well even if our talk page tag was deleted from every article. — Carl (CBM · talk) 23:24, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
ref order
Would you please explain to me the reasons behind edits like this one? I nearly always have good solid reasons for the order in which I footnote my sources, but people are constantly coming along and moving the most recent ref to the front, as though my reasons are nothing compared to the imperative of having them in reverse chronological order. I just don't understand it. Hesperian12:01, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
I know that technically you were right, but the rules are vague, ambiguous and nothing is going to suit all situations. If it was an IMDB link, or a probably reliable, but related party (such as employer, sporting organisation, government or faculty) website, I wouldn't have contacted you, and may have even left it as is, with the unref tag. If it was an obviously unreliable source, then I'd agree with you. I tend to use the "what would a newbie editor" think approach. If I had created that article, and put that ref in, but put it as a ext link, not an inline ref, because I didn't know better, then what would I think if I saw that tag? I'd think you must be blind and would remove it, or think this is all too hard and leave. The more informative tags actually acknowledge that, yes, there is a ref, but you haven't formatted it correctly or put it inline. It might actually encourage some improvement, rather than frightening people away. Regards, The-Pope (talk) 11:31, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
