Speedy deletion nomination of Category:American politicians of Thai descent
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Category:American politicians of Thai descent requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2020 April 18#Category:American politicians of Thai descent. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi, GrayEquinox951. A few of the categories you recently created were in fact previously deleted last year, and they shouldn't be re-created without first establishing consensus to the contrary. In addition to Category:American politicians of Thai descent above, Category:American politicians of Cambodian descent and Category:American politicians of Bangladeshi descent are likewise affected, and I've also tagged them for G4 speedy deletion. --Paul_012 (talk) 15:13, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
Categories
[edit]Hello, GrayEquinox951,
If you look at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2020 April 18, you'll see that many of the categories that you want to create were deleted in CFD discussions. This means that should they be recreated, they will be deleted as well. The consensus of the discussions was that they shouldn't exist on Wikipedia.
If you have questions about editing on Wikipedia or the deletion processes, please bring your concerns to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:15, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for September 5
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2018 Maine House of Representatives election, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Thomas Martin and Margaret Craven. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for working to improve the site with your edit to Ivan Reis, as we really appreciate your participation. However, the edit had to be reverted, because Wikipedia cannot accept uncited material. Wikipedia requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the article text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here. If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. [edit]Edit summary
[edit]Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Fettlemap (talk) 16:02, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
Concern regarding User:GrayEquinox951/sandbox
[edit]Hello, GrayEquinox951. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that User:GrayEquinox951/sandbox, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Drafts that have not been edited for six months may be deleted, so if you wish to retain the page, please edit it again or request that it be moved to your userspace.
If the page has already been deleted, you can request it be undeleted so you can continue working on it.

[edit]Hello, I'm Centcom08. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, List of A Certain Magical Index characters, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Centcom08 (talk) 01:22, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Missvain (talk) 16:45, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
Kay Palacios moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Kay Palacios, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Kay Palacios
[edit]Kay Palacios is a woman, not a man. The question is whether the article would be under Kay or Quisqueya, I *think* Kay.
- https://observer.com/2012/05/rangel-campaign-incorrectly-identifies-guillermo-linares-as-first-dominican-elected-official-in-the-u-s/

The biggest issue is that if someone of Thai or Greek descent had won the seat they wouldn't have been notable. Is being the first Dominican elected enough for notability, I don't know. But I'd add information from these articles. The nytimes and the observer are great for sources, but I think all can be folded in with information.Naraht (talk) 17:42, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

[edit]The page Brian De Peña does not meet Wikipedia's standards for notability. According to Wikipedia's general notability guideline: "A topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject."
A brief explanation of these terms (see the linked resources above for full definitions and detailed advice):
- Significant: Addresses the subject directly and in detail. A trivial mention that only mentions the subject in passing is not sufficient.
- Reliable: Materials with a reliable publication process, or published authors who are well-established as authoritative in the subject.
- Independent: For example, these are not independent: press releases, autobiographies, the subject’s website, and interviews.
There are several pages that can help, including our subject-specific notability guidelines, Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version that will allow you to work on an article until it is ready for inclusion on Wikipedia. Postmodern
[edit]Hi! You seem to be adding a lot of categories to articles. The few I've looked at don't have a source, and I can see you've been warned about this recently. I'm inclined to revert unless you have an explanation? Doctorhawkes (talk) 03:20, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello. I've added those novels because the authors are listed in the List of postmodern writers page. Since that is the case, then it stands to reason that the novels they write also postmodern as well. That is why I have been adding more novels to this category. GrayEquinox951 (talk) 14:39, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there. I appreciate the efforts to improve article categories but every work by an author who is considered to be in the sphere of postmodern literature should not automatically be considered postmodern nor categorized as such. Also, per WP:CATV, "It should be clear from verifiable information in the article why it was placed in each of its categories." When an article does not verifiably denote that the work is considered postmodern, you should refrain from adding the category. Οἶδα (talk) 02:49, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
- I've rolled these changes back. I'm sure many of them are postmodern, but you need to have an explicit reference to add the category, as pointed out above.Doctorhawkes (talk) 10:56, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- When you say reference, do you mean like add the link to postmodern literature to the genre section of the info box and add a url link that says it's postmodern? Or post a link in the comments section after I add the category? People have said this about other things, but they were not straightforward. GrayEquinox951 (talk) 13:59, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- The content of the article should explicitly state that the novel itself is postmodern in nature (if it is) and be supported by a inline citation from a reliable source, aka "reference", which reinforces your claim that it is postmodern. Similar to music genres for song/album articles, your source should explicitly attribute the genre to the work as a whole, not merely to the author or to trivial elements. For example, see this edit where I have added a supporting statement to an article that you added the category to. Οἶδα (talk) 23:36, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Your recent editing history at Holly Gibney shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Sundayclose (talk) 00:16, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
- Read WP:PROD. You can only PROD an article one time. After that you have to do an AfD. Stop edit warring and discuss on talk page. Sundayclose (talk) 00:18, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
