Following up from the pattern you noted at Eagles Mere, it looks like there are lots of that same sort of bug effect. Here's a search heuristic that found almost 300 in article-space: [1] DMacks (talk) 03:38, 19 October 2020 (UTC)

@DMacks: Yes, back in 2013, it was a known bug in VE. But I’ve been away for a while; I guess it didn’t get fixed...? Sort of discouraging. Thanks for your search link—that’s how I learn more of what’s possible in search! — Gorthian (talk) 04:36, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
Glad it was helpful. I didn't get the ping because the notifier only looks at added lines, not changed-existing lines. So you'd want to delete and then (in a separate change) re-add with the ping to trigger it. DMacks (talk) 08:38, 19 October 2020 (UTC)

Sagar Pictures

Request you to please refrain from making any changes on Sagar pages that have Sagar Pictures shows. We at Sagar Pictures are cleaning up the pages on a legal front. You can check out our website www.sagarpictures.com to have more clarity on this. Sagar Arts is the parent company from where Sagar Pictures branched out in 2008. Sagar Arts no longer exists. Shows and movies done by Sagar Pictures cannot be put up on any other Sagar pages except for Sagar Pictures pages. If you need any further confirmation on anything we request you to mail our owner meenakshisagar@sagarpictures.com Poojapatelflorida (talk) 10:14, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

@Poojapatelflorida: Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. You should not be editing those pages yourself. — Gorthian (talk) 01:26, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
@Gorrhian please advise then who can edit these pages? The falae information damages my companies goodwill and we will have to send a legal notice to wikipedia in case we are unable to correct this information. We also need to know what authority you have to create these pages. Poojapatelflorida (talk) 06:21, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
@Poojapatelflorida: The place for a new editor to get help is at the Teahouse. They left a message on your talk page. Please ask your questions there, as I am not well-versed in how to handle your inquiry. Another informative page is Wikipedia:Contact us/Article subjects. Remember that Wikipedia is vast and intricate, and we have a correspondingly vast community. I’m confident that you can find what you need. — Gorthian (talk) 07:09, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
@Poojapatelflorida: if you very next edit does not explicitly rescind every threat of legal action in your previous messages, the admins here will have no choice but to indefinitely block you from editing here at all. See Wikipedia:No legal threats. As it is, the use of "we" suggests that more than one person is using your account, which is separately prohibited by this site's policies. See Wikipedia:Username policy.DMacks (talk) 07:18, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
...and now indef'ed. Thanks for the 'thanks' on an unrelated edit, Gorthian, which got me to visit your page and see this happening:) DMacks (talk) 08:15, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:27, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

A Dobos torte for you!

—usernamekiran (talk) has given you a Dobos torte to enjoy! Seven layers of fun because you deserve it.

To give a Dobos torte and spread the WikiLove, just place {{subst:Dobos Torte}} on someone else's talkpage, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.

We had our disagreements in the past. But that past is way too much in the past. I hope we can start afresh. See you around —usernamekiran (talk) 20:33, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
@Usernamekiran: Thank you! — Gorthian (talk) 21:54, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Guideline and policy news

Technical news

  • When blocking an IPv6 address with Twinkle, there is now a checkbox with the option to just block the /64 range. When doing so, you can still leave a block template on the initial, single IP address' talkpage.
  • When protecting a page with Twinkle, you can now add a note if doing so was in response to a request at WP:RfPP, and even link to the specific revision.
  • There have been a number of reported issues with Pending Changes. Most problems setting protection appear to have been resolved (phab:T273317) but other issues with autoaccepting edits persist (phab:T275322).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, F7 (invalid fair-use claim) subcriterion a has been deprecated; it covered immediate deletion of non-free media with invalid fair-use tags.
  • Following a request for comment, page movers were granted the delete-redirect userright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target.

Technical news

  • When you move a page that many editors have on their watchlist the history can be split and it might also not be possible to move it again for a while. This is because of a job queue problem. (T278350)
  • Code to support some very old web browsers is being removed. This could cause issues in those browsers. (T277803)

Technical news

  • Wikimedia previously used the IRC network Freenode. However, due to changes over who controlled the network with reports of a forceful takeover by several ex-staff members, the Wikimedia IRC Group Contacts decided to move to the new Libera Chat network. It has been reported that Wikimedia related channels on Freenode have been forcibly taken over if they pointed members to Libera. There is a migration guide and Wikimedia discussions about this.

Administrators' newsletter – July 2021

News and updates for administrators from the past month (June 2021).

Guideline and policy news

  • Consensus has been reached to delete all books in the book namespace. There was rough consensus that the deleted books should still be available on request at WP:REFUND even after the namespace is removed.
  • An RfC is open to discuss the next steps following a trial which automatically applied pending changes to TFAs.

Technical news

  • IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.

News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2021).

Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC is open to add a delay of one week from nomination to deletion for G13 speedy deletions.

Technical news

  • Last week all wikis were very slow or not accessible for 30 minutes. This was due to server lag caused by regenerating dynamic lists on the Russian Wikinews after a large bulk import. (T287380)
