40 wall street / oakwood law article
Thank you for the invite to write on your page. I am new to Wikipedia as a writer.
As you are in love with boats I am in love with architecture. I live in NYC and when I look at the tall historic buildings I think about the stories that shape their past. I have a curiosity for the stories of the tenants that occupy the spaces themselves. My goal here on Wikipedia is to write about happenings in the NYC downtown real estate market. This little article is a vignette about what I believe shows how time moves forward and as one company moves on another one steps into it's place. We are all replaceable and just here for some short moment in time... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hotsummer 9 (talk • contribs) 22:31, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

- Thank you for your clarification. But, it is quite pointless to create articles based on your own knowledge. If you have no sources, you will be better off to mark them for deletion. I would greatly appreciate it if you saved me the work by doing that if the aforementioned is accurately stated. Goodvac (talk) 23:26, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

To find out if your article is notable, please search the article name on Google and see how many relevant results you get. In your case, I didn't see any. Goodvac (talk) 17:25, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

- I agree that it has many problems, but it both compliments and attacks the school: "it has very boring lessons made fun and the staff are up to scratch." Schools are notable on Wikipedia, so I guess that cleaning that up would work. Goodvac (talk) 20:25, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Tagging of Kasama College of Education
I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Kasama College of Education. I do not think that Kasama College of Education fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because WP:CSD#A7 specifically excludes schools, so school articles are never to be speedy deleted under A7. Use WP:PROD or AfD instead if need be.. I request that you consider not re-tagging Kasama College of Education for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 21:54, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
Your UAA reports
Thank you for your reports about users Hommos2010 and Moohoe. However, your reports were removed as UAA is for name policy infringements that are serious enough to warrant an immediate block. Notably, the use of homo or hoe is not necessarily a serious issue, particularly when there's a lack of collaborative bad-faith edits by the user. Even then, newly created vandal only accounts typically get reported to WP:AIV, not UAA.
As noted at WP:BADNAME, had the names been general name policy violations, you should have first discussed the concern with the user on their talk page. A helpful template to do just that is {{subst:Uw-username}}. Note that a request for comment can be filed if the user disagrees that their name is against the username policy, or has continued to edit after you have expressed your concern. You may find the UAA instructions helpful, and I'd recommend reading them over prior to making future reports to UAA. Cheers, NJA (t/c) 10:06, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- Same thing goes for the recent report of Schoolsucks12. Please read WP:BADNAME and the UAA instructions at WP:UAA/I before making more reports please. Thank you. NJA (t/c) 07:49, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- And also your reports of Blondeshavemorefunwhenreading and Sorooshhit. Can you please acknowledge you understand what I am trying to discuss with you? Thank you, NJA (t/c) 09:25, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Ok. I understand why Blondeshavemorefunwhenreading may not have been a good call, but I cannot fathom what makes Sorooshhit okay. It contains "shit" after disregarding an "h." Furthermore, it reads like the real word. People often repeat characters in cuss words like these. Please review this. Thanks, Goodvac (talk) 16:44, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Also, are you saying my warning of Xx killah emo xx was justified under the username policy? Goodvac (talk) 16:44, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- In addition, before I report any more non-blatant violations, would you pass your judgment over the name "Rasel mahboob"? Does that conform to the username policy? Note: User:Boob was blocked for username violation. Goodvac (talk) 17:36, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Your concern and use of the {{uw-username}} on Xx killah emo xx wasn't likely needed without edits to indicate that they were a bad faith account, though it's not the biggest issue here. More obviously unjustified were the warnings to blood nemesis and liverpoolwtf. Can you see the reason why? I don't want to tell you what is and is not okay, rather I'd like you to read and fully understand name policy so you can make better decisions on your own.
- As for the Rasel mahboob, no, that clearly could be someone's name. When the account isn't a clear violation it's best to either watch their edits to see if they are a bad faith account or not, or discuss with them. The way to go about it is clearly outlined at WP:BADNAME. And no, Sorooshhit is not a blatant violation. SORO SHIT may have been a cause for concern, but not sorooshhit. Remember that even though it's English Wikipedia, people from all over the world register names. NJA (t/c) 08:38, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
Use of username warnings
Aside from the concerns above, I would also like to note that warning users who are not in violation of name policy (like this & this) is a cause for concern. I'd like to discuss with you your understanding of the username policy, what is and what is not a violation, how to handle non-serious concerns, etc. Again, I recommend reading WP:UAA/I and WP:BADNAME, if not the entirety of the username policy, and then post here to discuss before making more reports to UAA. Thank you. NJA (t/c) 09:47, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Note that I've posted here in an attempt to seek advice from others. I'm in no way trying to discourage your participation, but we need to discuss your understanding of the username policy, whether here or at the link I've provided. Cheers, NJA (t/c) 11:17, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

- Adding "Billy: 'SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!'" to the quote was not very constructive. The excessive number of exclamation points (!) is unnecessary to convey the point that he said it loudly, which is already depicted in the caps. Changing the "who is" to "whos," which itself is incorrect, does not add anything. Your edits may not have been vandalism, but certainly they were not significant additions. Goodvac (talk) 20:34, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Sock puppet accusation
I am confused as to why I would be accused of being a sock-puppet. The recent edits that I have made on the Covino & Rich page are simply reverting slanderous/libelous statements.
I am responsible for the majority of the legitimate data on the page, why would I cause myself more work?
I have been requesting that the vandals be banned/blocked/etc., if I am going to be accused of not following the wikipedia policies for trying to be a good citizen then I'm not so sure I want to be a citizen of Wikipedia at all.
That being said, I respect, applaud, and appreciate all the work that the editors/admins/etc. do on wikipedia to ensure that it runs smoothly. I have such high respect for the wikipedia team that I've often felt that I would like to be a member of this great team. JoshinWinnipeg (talk) 03:57, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- As noted at the page where I filed this concern, this has simply been a bad mistake on my part. Please do not take this mix-up as a discouragement to your participation on Wikipedia. Put this incident behind you and make the most out of your editing on Wikipedia. Cheers, Goodvac (talk) 07:26, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Signature
Just for your information, it looks like your signature does something strange in Chrome 4.1.249.1064: it shows up as blank space, and when you mouse over it, only the underline shows up. It works fine on IE 7. If I had to guess, it looks like a font substitution problem. For example, in my signature, I use <font style="font-family:Constantia" size="3" color="#0077bb">[[User:TheFeds|'''''TheFeds''''']]</font>
, while you use <font face="Papyrus" color="green">'''''Goodvac'''''</font>
. If you changed it to <font style="font-family:Papyrus" color="green">'''''Goodvac'''''</font>
(giving this: Goodvac), I think it would fix the problem—that code works on Chrome. TheFeds 20:30, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- Someone has already told me about my signature not working in Chrome. I just wanted to see if anyone else using Chrome would notice that my signature doesn't work. So, are the shadows not working? I've changed my signature to what you have above, leaving the shadows. Goodvac (talk) 21:43, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- That's weird, I still can't see any of it (though I can see your talk link). I've signed this post with the same shadow as you're using—and it works as expected, and I can see it. In fact, when I preview this post, but change your signature to use the Constantia font (like mine), it works—so maybe there's something strange about that Papyrus font that clashes with Chrome (only) when you use the shadow property. TheFeds 17:09, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
- I've just completely taken out the font-family tag, but it still looks the same. See if it works now. Goodvac (talk) 01:56, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
- It does work now. The shadow is visible. TheFeds 04:13, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Urban Family Dog
Hello Goodvac. I was wondering where the appropriate place to discuss the deletion of the Urban Family Dog article would be? I am contacting you because of your note.
Also, I noticed on your profile you've written articles about cruise ships. I worked as art director on a project with a talented illustrator by the name of Dusty Deyo. She has done many commercial illustrations of cruise ships and their decks. Here is a link to one of those. She is very nice, and may be helpful in your cruise research.

Sock
See edit Jeepday (talk) 23:45, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- By this, I'm assuming that you as well consider Garanam (talk · contribs) to be a sock. Regardless of contributions, a sock is a sock and should be blocked. Following the present path of not blocking this user shows favoritism of constructive socks over disruptive socks. This sock is hardly constructive. Besides three edits in the user and user talk namespaces, the user has not contributed in any helpful manner to the encyclopedia. The user linked to an edit by a blocked user. That same blocked user created his own userpage and talk page with "Hi", as did Garanam. This evidence is sufficient to block Garanam for abusing multiple accounts without filing an SPI case. What are your thoughts? Goodvac (talk) 21:03, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
- Those may all be valid reason to block if the user is a sock, but the criteria for vandal blocking is as below, if you want to have them blocked because you beleive the user is a sock the place to report is WP:SPI not Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism
- 1. The edits of the user you are reporting must be considered vandalism.
- 2. The user must be given sufficient recent warnings to stop.
- 3. Unregistered users must be active now, and the warnings must be recent.
- To file a report, edit this page and follow the instructions at the top of the "User-reported" section.

- You're welcome! I've redirected the talk page to the current talk page. A note: when you want to move a page from one location to another (in your case, from "Isaias Doleo Ochoa" to "Isaías D'Oleo Ochoa"), you don't have to manually create the page again and redirect them. Instead, you can move the page (click on the "move" tag at the top). This will automatically create the new page and redirect the previous page to the new page, including talk pages. Disruptive Edits Notice Question
Hello Goodvac, This is Golnaz1979. I just received a Disruptive Edits Notice from you about my posting of interviews with guests from the radio show Pussyfoot.
I'm not clear as to why external links to large publication like Rolling Stone or Urb Magazine are acceptable and interviews in smaller outlets are not. Should I instead post to the guest (ie Bruce Bickford's page on Pussyfoot, and allow listeners to the search out the interviews?)
Would this be an acceptable link http://thehomeofpussyfoot.com/archives/guests080829.html
and people interested in Bickford's interview can then look for the mp3 which is at http://thehomeofpussyfoot.com/episodes/080829.mp3
Please let me know. I just discovered this show, and they've had a lot of guests who have Wiki pages which don't have interviews linked to them so people can hear the people in their own words.
Thanks! Golnaz1979 (talk) 06:12, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Golnaz1979
- What you are doing right now (adding links from Pussyfoot to articles) is considered external link spamming. I assume that you are affiliated with Pussyfoot and want to distribute their links to the ends of the Internet so that more people will visit your site. That's not the point of Wikipedia. Goodvac (talk) 06:17, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Hello,
Thanks for clarification, I apologize for any perceived spamming. However, this leaves me with a couple of questions. I am indeed, affiliated with Pussyfoot, as an intern. I'm wondering, as I look through some people's pages, how links to interviews with other outlets are posted, and since they have corporate sponsorship on those pages, isn't that in some way seen as a way to drive up their traffic? Since we have no Google ads or Indieclick, etc. sponsors, the traffic to our site is unimportant. Also, if we have permission from the artists/interview subjects themselves to put these interviews on their page, and they are 100% direct audio from the horse's mouth interviews, aren't they as valuable if not more as a resource as a reference? Having worked at a couple of record labels in the past, I know that many musicians', actors', and artists' pages are created, maintained and updated by publicists and not necessarily by uninterested parties. Again, apologies for any excessive external linking, I promise to watch it in the future. Thanks again, Golnaz1979 (talk) 21:18, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Golnaz1979

Riordan, Lewis & Haden
Hi! I'm new to Wiki and trying to help RLH increase the content and accuracy of their entry. I've been adding info which is true and trying to add citations so that it is provable. I'm not sure but it looks like you might be trying to undo my efforts. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but would appreciate learning about the problem. I'm not putting in bragging or anything like that. Thanks for your help.
PS By the way, if you aren't the right person to talk to about this problem, I'm sorry to bother you. InvestorPE (talk) 22:37, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- Peacock phrases such as "exhibiting high growth potential in both revenue and earnings" are promotional and inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Goodvac (talk) 22:41, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Following up
Thanks for the helpful advice. I've changed the peacock wording you pointed out to hopefully make it more objective. Are there any other changes I should make to avoid the "advertising" caution at the top of the page? Thanks again! —Preceding unsigned comment added by InvestorPE (talk • contribs) 22:56, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- The string of irrelevant info in the history section — "a successful attorney and philanthropist who would later go on to serve as Mayor of Los Angeles" — is not needed and seems to be lifting up the image of this company and its associates. Once you have removed that, you may removed the {{advert}} tag. Goodvac (talk) 23:05, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Wrapping up
Thank you for the good ideas. I've eliminated the details re Riordan and, with your permission, figured out how to undo the advert tag. If you have any further suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know. I may add a few more citations (if I can find them) to support information in there. Best wishes! - If you work for Dollar Tree, then you have a conflict of interest. Writing about topics with which you are associated is discouraged on Wikipedia. You added promotional content to the article, which is unsuitable for an encyclopedia. If you wish to make further changes to the article, suggest them on the talk page first. So when does my page get deleted now? And I have several organizations that I would love to have a Wiki page about, but I dont' know if that violates your policies? They are a substantial part of our town...Cdardi (talk) 22:30, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

- if you can find some third party reliable sources, such a news articles, you could create some stub pages about them. i would just recommend avoiding any promotional type language or adding personal knowledge about them that isn't supported by the references. also, copying information directly from their website or using their website as the primary reference is a big no-no and will get your articles quickly deleted. hope this helps, if you have any further questions feel free to drop them on my talk page so i don't have to keep watching this one. cheers WookieInHeat (talk) 23:00, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Reviewer granted
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Dabomb87 (talk) 02:57, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Zords in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
I'm sorry, but I think you probably didn't know this. If Scorpina is typed in the search, it does display "(Redirected from Scorpina)" and I thought of helping out by fixing the link to avoid the redirect, as her description had sometime ago been transfered to Villains in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. --98.67.43.128 (talk) 17:48, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 00:50, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

- I've been keeping an eye on that thread since it opened. At first, as an observer, I assumed good faith, but as the baseless accusations persisted, good faith exhausted. A block was not unforeseeable. Goodvac (talk) 09:56, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Re. ANI for PsychClone
Actually she has a point - but to get it one must return this toxic half-screen banner. Perched atop an AFD or RFCU the banner, indeed, looks like the kitty menace. Sometimes only socks pronounce the obvious.
Cheers, East of Borschov 10:37, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
- With no doubt, PsychClone has some valid points, but the circumstances in which the comments were expressed lead me to believe the user is a sock solely here to disrupt. Goodvac (talk) 10:40, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: User:Expedrium
Hello Goodvac, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Expedrium, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:11, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

if my article is deleted, can you give me some tips to prevent this in the future? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jessicagilmore (talk • contribs) 08:36, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry that the article being discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Matthew edward hall will likely be deleted; I can see how much effort you've expended to put it together. To prevent deletion of an article you create, make sure that significant sources exist (to meet WP:GNG) and that the subject is notable by Wikipedia standards. See Wikipedia:Your first article for a guide. Goodvac (talk) 08:52, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
'Commie'...!
Your suggestion for a cite was welcomed and I thought we were trying for consensus but Beyond My Ken has unilaterally decided that this cite will suffice and used it to reinstate 'RC Pool'. It's wholly indicative of personal whims and stalkery getting in the way of accuracy. I just don;t see my edits here as disruptive - challenging inaccuracy and reverting what has now become vandalism. Worryingly, other editors seems happy to pick up the baton of inaccuracy, including one that reverted me so I 'wouldn't get away with it' (er.. having it correct?). That's got to be concerning as an edit summary and modus operandi? --89.211.65.21 (talk) 10:22, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Now it's happening all over again. Help. --89.211.65.21 (talk) 10:31, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
S'ok. Me and he have been blocked for 24hrs. This pleases me. --89.211.180.189 (talk) 17:01, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Promotion Notice
Congratulations! You've just been promoted to Administrator through your selfless duties in the preservation of the Wiki in a time of conflict. Actually... you haven't: but I'm glad to see that editors like ourselves are catching the trolling that is seen by millions all over the world on a page watched by thousands (if not millions) while others sleep. Cheers :> Doc talk 08:11, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hah! It's queer that the trolling isn't reverted for so long. But the wiki is asleep; I'm guessing that 50% of our active users are on the East Coast. Cheers, Goodvac (talk) 08:15, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Multiple CSD tags
I thought since you might not look back again at User_talk:Bwilkins#Explanation about CSD it was worth letting you know that two admins (myself and Syrthiss) have both posted there in support of your view that it's perfectly OK to put more than one CSD tag on a page. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:58, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll continue doing so. Thanks for the notification. Goodvac (talk) 02:57, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Hey thanks for starting the copyedit! I'm not sure if you're doing this after seeing the request from here. If you are just make sure you write on the page you or else another editor might come and also copyedit it. As noted there, the plot section was hard to construct and please ask me for an clarification. Thanks! Derild4921☼ 00:35, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hi! I did indeed find When You Reach Me at the GOCE requests page. When I reach the plot section, I'll drop you a line. By the way, in my initial copyedits, I left in-line commented-out queries about confusing parts. Goodvac (talk) 07:44, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sure, I've tried clarifying the last plot paragraph which is the most complicated part with all the details revealed; can you see if they make sense? Thanks! Derild4921☼ 02:02, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
notes formatting
Hey, that was slick, over at Amanar!
1. Was trying to figure out how to make a notes section, and couldn't find good directions (maybe I didn't read MOS hard enough). I can just ape what you did, but is there a good place that describes how to do what you did? I want to use it with other articles.
2. Also, that way you had a semicolon to make headings that don't show in the table of contents was nice. I may need that for other things. Instructions on that?
TCO (talk) 00:13, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- Check out WP:REFGROUP and Help:Footnotes#Separate lists of references and footnotes (grouping footnotes). For footnotes, enclose the footnote within
<ref group="note" name="name">
and</ref>
. The superscripted note will appear as [note 1]. "Note" is whatever you specified for the group. The "name" parameter is optional, unless you want to use the same footnote in other areas of the article. - I don't think this type of heading is mentioned in the MoS; that's odd. See Help:Wikipedia: The Missing Manual/Formatting and Illustrating Articles/Article Sections and Tables of Contents#Technical Solutions for Long TOCs under "Use semicolons as pseudo-headings." Basically, all you need to do is put a semicolon right before the desired heading.
- Check out WP:REFGROUP and Help:Footnotes#Separate lists of references and footnotes (grouping footnotes). For footnotes, enclose the footnote within
- Hope this helped! Goodvac (talk) 05:19, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

image layout in baton (symbol)
Will you improve the image layout? In particular, that long blue baton is (at least when displayed on my laptop), hiding the numbers in the Third Reich section and also needs scrolling to see the whole image. I wonder if it could be rotated and put at the very top of the article? Or something?
I tried myself a bunch, but could not get it.
And if you are not the image/layout expert, please point me at him.

- I've attempted to rectify that. Let me know if it works. Goodvac (talk) 22:02, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Why did u revert my edit?
I welcomed another editor to Wikipedia. Sorry if I didn't do it correctly. :-(--Voluptuous Nature (talk) 18:11, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- You're obviously not new to Wikipedia. Goodvac (talk) 18:13, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

- You never did say you were new, though it's patently obvious due to your editing style. The user you welcomed was a bot, so stop pretending. Goodvac (talk) 18:19, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- Pretending what? What's "patently obvious"? That I'm a new user? I never claimed to be. But the user I welcomed was NEW, and I think it's okay to welcome anyone, even if they're a bot. If all users (including bots) are warmly welcomed, it enhances the sense of cordiality and collegiality that so crucial to the project. Even though bots don't have feelings, the VERY PROLIFERATION of welcome templates will subtly imrpove the editing experience, and I thought your hasty removal of the welcome template was a bit hasty and impolite.--Voluptuous Nature (talk) 18:26, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for making it even more obvious that you aren't here for constructive reasons. Goodvac (talk) 18:28, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
