Thank you.
A tag has been placed on Oakwood Law Group, llp requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Goodvac (talk) 17:30, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Oakwood Law Group, llp. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. Glenfarclas (talk) 21:25, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to introduce inappropriate pages to Wikipedia, such as Oakwood Law Group, llp, you will be blocked from editing. If you need guidance on how to create appropriate pages, try using the Article Wizard. —C.Fred (talk) 06:31, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- The problem was there were no secondary sources cited in the article that mentioned the subject at all. The word "Oakwood" did not appear in the news story or the press release. Accordingly, the article clearly met criterion A7 and was speedy deleted. —C.Fred (talk) 06:41, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- Fred. I have reposted the article with proper press release reference. --Hotsummer 9 (talk) 19:38, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

- (1) A press release is not an *independent* source per WP:V. (2) It appears that there's nothing notable about this firm itself, as opposed to its decision to lease space in a historic building. You need to find reliable independent sources that explain why the firm (not its office building) is notable. (3) You can create a draft at User:Hotsummer 9/Oakwood Law Firm; I will review it on request. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:52, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- "Public-minded" (or, in this case, doing a good thing) is not the same as "notable". Read WP:NOBLECAUSE. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:02, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
40 Wall Street tenant
[edit]Nice to see someone trying but, eh? A law firm is notable because they put their office in a famous downtown skyscraper? Better to step back for a broader view. Even the building article doesn't have a tenant list, just as most building articles don't have one, and if it did, would you say that all the tenants on such a list, or every office space tenant on Wall Street, or every one below Chambers Street, is encyclopedically notable for that reason alone? Do you see a reason to make Wikipedia that big?
Not that there's any reason to get discouraged and feel that your efforts must go unappreciated. Most of the work of Wikipedia isn't making new articles; it's improving old ones. When an old article becomes large with good material, the time may come to split off a well organized part and create a new one. It's just that, when there isn't yet much reason to discuss a topic in old articles, there's seldom a need to make a new article about it. Jim.henderson (talk) 03:15, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Somehow, I feel that each building serves as a community unto itself by the tenants that reside there. Over the years, as one walks the halls of these great buildings much of the history is lost without making note of the tenants and if they did something that contributes to the history of the building. It's kinda like walking back through the halls of high school. Near the gym there's a trophy case and that calls out who was notable in the school in years gone by... They may not mean much in the pro sports world but probably hold a bit of meaning for whomever is standing in front of the trophy case itself. I would like to see the same experience for someone who reads about a building here on wikipedia. The building almost comes alive with stories of tenants and there notable contributions over the history of the building itself.... BTW, I remember Swensons ice cream way back in the day in the americana shopping center...Hotsummer 9 (talk) 21:44, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
