If the FAQ is removed the table will rapidly become less valid

If no ground rules are applied inaccurate data will be introduced. Please respond. Speeddemonvegas 21:48, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia has its own ground rules. An article is not owned or governed by one but by the community. Most of what you have placed in the "FAQ" falls under the basic ground rules for writing and editing an article. If anywhere, it belongs on the talk page. Goodnightmush 23:45, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your review of my article. Please note that the artist is a well known popular Canadian painter with work in many galleries across Canada. Her work is featured on many UNICEF greeting cards and held in over 250 Corporate Collections. The artist page Toni Onley, cites the exact same information format and has been include. Please let me know how to improve the article.

He may be, but the page is eligible for speedy deletion as it does not assert his notability. Goodnightmush 03:54, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

This first article was just to poke fun and give him a laugh. Please don't delete it because his contibutions in current events will replace the joke article at around 4:00 tomorrow.

Wikipedia is not for jokes. I'd recommend Unencyclopedia for that. If he is truly notable, please rewrite the article clearly asserting why he is notable and is deserving of a Wikipedia article. Also please sign your posts with ~~~~, which will automatically add the time and date. Thanks. Goodnightmush 22:30, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of 1:00PM-2:00PM (24 season 6)

An editor has nominated 1:00PM-2:00PM (24 season 6), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/24 season 6 episodes and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Your monobook

FYI, I have added nowiki tags to your monobook.js file around a deletion script. Because the script contains {{db}}, your monobook was being added to CAT:CSD. This should fix that problem and ensure that no admin will accidentally delete your script. --BigDT 20:57, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

I am kinda surprised with the speed that you put the deletion tag the Akira Makino article.. You have not written anything in the talk page either..So may i ask ,you what makes you thing Akira Is not notable ?? Did you read the two links i gave as refernces ?? Di you read the article about Japanese War crimes ?? thanks

Keep Gone With the Blastwave article

Gone With the Blastwave is a legitimate article revolving around art and culture. I do not understand why this page is not considered legitimate, while there are several other articles about webcomics of the exact same criteria, e.i Ctrl+Alt+Del and Penny Arcade. Both of which are articles on webcomics and undisputed articles exist, yet an article on Gone With the Blastwave is. Why the inconsistency then? Staples11 14:32, 4 February 2007 (UTC)Staples11

Article 7 does not specify an exact or estimated value of notabilty, merely relying on one's own judgement on what is notable. Does this mean that any third party recognition will suffice?Staples11 14:45, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of William Cox

Hi there, just a reminder to please check the history of articles before deleting or tagging for deleting. This article existed as a valid article for over two years, was vandalised on 28 January, and was tagged for speedy deletion less than a minute later. -- Chuq 09:12, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Apologies for that. It is usually my practice to check the history but in this case I did not actually add the tag, I merely clarified it, changing {{db}} to a more specific template with reasoning, so it never occurred to me to look. Goodnightmush 21:45, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello Goodnightmush

I see that some of my contributions are considered vandalism. Can you please have a more detailed look at my contributions and revive my edits to "Cycling in Melbourne".

If there is a specific problem please let me know and I will try and avoid the same mistake - maybe I am suffering from too much enthusiasm!

If you think that my contrbutions have been worthwhile, I would appreciate that these pages for the redlinks in these templates be created, so I can contrbute to them:

also "Amy's Ride" and "Oppy Family Fun Ride" in the later are linked to inappropriate pages.

Toupee

Just b/c you love Keith Olbermann doesn't mean he doesn't wear a toupee. It's a fact. Look at the special they did about him on CBS Sunday Morning he wears a baseball cap away from the studio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0vBcqjofKM

And just because he wears a baseball cap doesn't mean he is balding. Maybe, I don't know, he likes baseball? That's a substantially better documented fact. Goodnightmush 02:40, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, duh- a grown man wearing a baseball cap in the middle of the day for an interview? You need to think a little bit. It's a known fact in the TV world that he wears a toupee.

First off, "well known" isn't good enough for wikipedia. Cite a credible source. Just one. Seeing as how you can't do that it's clearly not "well known", and last time I checked baseball fans still wear baseball caps. Goodnightmush 20:59, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

I guess Newsbusters isn't, but Media Matters is and just b/c you have a 'thing' for him doesn't mean it isn't true either.

Link me some evidence, the burden of proof isnt on me, its on you to prove he wears a toupee. Goodnightmush 23:59, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

It wasn't me that added the list of non-athletes in the WPITW segment, but I'm curious as to how you decided that was vandalism? Lambertman 03:19, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Revert on constitution of Turkey

Hey, I made an accidental act of vandalism to the article "Constitution of Turkey" earlier, due to inexperience with editing. I later copied the text I had intended to contribute, yet you immediately reverted it. I must presume you reverted thinking it to be vandalism, please cancel this revert, Sebastian Wolf 128.86.144.81 23:11, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey - I took the liberty of undoing your reversion to Constitution of Turkey because I think it was a good faith edit. I'm not surprised that VP highlighted it as vandalism though because in the user's previous edit he had accidentally deleted most of the article (and then apologised for doing so). I added the wikify tag with AWB because the article, among other things, contains almost no wikilinks, has a very short lead, and has non-descriptive picture captions. Should be a quick fix. Remove the tag once it's wikified or now if you think it's inappropriate. Sorry for not leaving an adequate explanation immediately. Goodnightmush 02:18, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Removing Hasheem Thabeet

Of course I removed Hasheem Thabeet from your list. He's needs more college years to develop and you don't have any idea that he is going to enter the draft. There for you shouldn't have added him in the first place. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.235.177.138 (talk) 13:21, 8 April 2007 (UTC).

The warning I left at your talk page referred to this edit in which you blanked a large section of the page. Your edit regarding Hasheem Thabeet was a month later. To clear any other confusion, I did not add him to the list, nor is the list "mine", I merely returned all the content you blanked more than a month ago. Goodnightmush 14:56, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

I didn't edit anything in wikipedia... not my work. Maybe someone was playing a joke on me, messing with my computer or something, but this wasn't me.24.63.247.76 06:01, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

That's possible. Also ip addresses do shuffle, and sometimes are shared by more than more computer, so it is not necessarily even your computer that vandalized the page. Ignore these warnings if they do not apply to you, but you made need to Create an account to edit Wikipedia in future if your ip address is blocked from doing so because of vandalism by someone else from it. Goodnightmush 11:30, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

I know that it was unintentional but that gave me a good chuckle. THe original "passed away" wasn't a very good phrase anyway. I changed it to this. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 04:12, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Haha. I thought I checked every edit for things like that. I know I saw at least a dozen times people used "passed away" for things like that. I guess i missed that one. Thanks. Goodnightmush 12:00, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: Block Question

Depends on circumstances. In this case, I can think of no legitimate reason for a "brand new" user to have found their way to troll a particular userpage. If there's a pedestrian explanation I'm missing, I'll take a second look. – Luna Santin (talk) 01:07, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Ahh, I see. For "standard" vandalism, I tend to start warning at about the second edit (sometimes people only try it once, as a test), I usually give {{test1}} or {{test2}} depending on whether they're just playing/testing or obviously being malicious. Once people get to {{test3}}, I'm usually pretty seriously considering blocking them, blocking either if they continue, or if they do so after {{test4}}. The whole thing is really pretty fluid, and different people handle it differently and will give you all sorts of different advice ("ten Wikipedians will give you eleven opinions" is a common joke). There's some handy resources at WP:RCP and WP:VAND if you're interested in more, and haven't run across them, just yet. I personally am I fan of VandalProof and Twinkle (in no particular order). Anyway, that's probably more than you bargained for out of a reply, so, cheers! ;) – Luna Santin (talk) 01:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Eve

I have never left a message for a user, so if this is not how to do it please forgive me. It was not my intention to "vandalize" that article, even though I was the one who wrote it. I deleted the article because I found that I had accidentally placed Eve's bio under the heading PLACES instead of FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. I corrected this error, then went back and rewrote the article. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. Thanks!

Article on Sexual Orientation

I have added three links I believe enrich the discussion on sexual orientation. All links regarding prostaglandins and sexual behavior/development are relevant to the discussion of whether sexual orientation is determined from birth. Moreover, the paper by Amateau and McCarthy and the one by Sanders are of interest for raising the issue of epitestosterone's influence on brain gender and sex behavior.

Recently, epitestosterone and the T/E ratio have received a great deal of attention in the press, and given that the upswing of endocrine research on homosexuals started with a paper that found significantly lowered excretion of testosterone and epitestosterone in homosexual men, the GLBT community should be aware of this research (see Endocrine Function in Male and Female Homosexuals, Loraine et al. 1970; and Sex Hormones and Male Homosexuality, Meyer-Bahlburg 1977). —The preceding unsigned comment was added 19:35, 4 May 2007 (UTC).

(Also at your talk) If your asking why I removed one of the links, it was not because it was off topic, but merely because it gave a 404 Error when I tried to see what it was. I think there must have been a typo in the url. Also please sign all talk page posts with ~~~~. Thanks! GoodnightmushTalk 19:46, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I recently investigated the notability of Andrew P. Thomas because of a move request and saw your template. I saw that he is in the news regularly. The fact that he's "the prosecuting attorney for Maricopa County" gives enough information to establish his notability. Maricopa County includes the major city of Phoenix, Arizona. Do a Google News search for +Phoenix +"Andrew Thomas" and you'll probably see many recent references. A web search will give even more. I'm going to remove the template. If you disagree, you can put it back. Joeldl 09:46, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

I have no intention of doing so. I merely placed it there as a concern about notability of a topic I was not familiar with. If you are familiar with the topic and firmly believe he is worthy of inclusion then you'll get no argument from me. GoodnightmushTalk 13:50, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

don't delete the consequences. it isn't improper use of wikipedia. it is a history of my friend's band and will soon feature information on live shows and links. we're just trying to save the world man.

The article does not assert the notability of your band. Please read WP:BAND to learn the minimum criteria for a band to be included in Wikipedia and establish its notability in the article. GoodnightmushTalk 21:13, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

(Also at your talk) It did feel a bit weird to be advising someone who's been on Wikipedia years longer than I have that message, but I'm a stickler for summaries. Is that "better place" userbox of your own creation? I think I'm gonna steal it for my page, but the link in it now just redirects to Religion, so you may want to point it towards Atheism or something like that because the "reasons for rejection of religion" header is gone in the article it used to direct to. When i do nominate myself again in the future, with more edits, I hope to have cleared any concerned up anyone has. Wildthing61476 12:50, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

(Also at your talk) I hope to see you on RfA again in future and assure you that you will have support once you have just a little more experience. I'm considering self-nominating soon, but am not sure how it will go over. GoodnightmushTalk 19:36, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations. Here are what pass for words of wisdom from the puppy:
  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version.
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. You will always pick the wrong one to do. (See #5)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll.
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block.
  5. Remember when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology.
  6. and finally, Remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

Regarding: New Admin with a Question

Hey Goodnightmush,

first of all congrats (albeit a bit late) on your successful RfA. I hope you enjoy being an admin (well, to the extent that wielding the mop and flamethrower bucket can be truly enjoyable ).

Just a quick word of encouragement: asking on WP:AN was a good call. You may know this already but, just in case you don't, there's asking another admin for help on IRC is another option to get a quick second opinion on something if you're not entirely sure. It's probably also a good idea to get yourself a host cloak.

Re: my deletion logs

Yeah, I know – it seems like the first couple I do per session catch me off guard and I mess them up. I wish there was a confirmation page where we could check the rationale before hitting the button for good, and I know I've screwed up some of them.

I started using Twinkle last night, which is pretty cool but really fast, and the first CSD article I deleted was an A6 duplicate dab page (for cryin' out loud, who makes duplicates of dab pages???). Well, those are awfully little Twinkle radio buttons, and genius me accidentally picked the A7 button when I should have picked A6, and bang, it was done. I came this close to undeleting the thing so I could change the rationale to A6 and delete it again, but I didn't. At any rate, I'm aware of it and I've beaten myself pretty good for my mistakes, and I promise I'll do better. Thanks – KrakatoaKatie 19:54, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, now – ironically, the same kids who created Wheeler ball the first time just came back to recreate it, so I deleted it _again_ and protected it (with a much better rationale this time!). Hopefully they will get the idea and stop before they end up blocked. I'm becoming a bit tired of Wheeler ball... KrakatoaKatie 20:53, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I take your point re. the one warning, but what you didn't see was they had uploaded a goatse.cx attack image which had just been speedied. Indefblocked as a vandal - Alison ☺ 20:11, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Aha. I thought it might have been a speedied page or something. Thanks. GoodnightmushTalk 20:12, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

No Warnings ??

From the admin intervention page:

No warnings? I counted five on that IP's talk page. As an editor who strongly supports Wikipedia and tries hard to fight vandalism, I have to express surprise about the unwillingness of administrators to permanently block serial vandals, especially those who make offensive edits to biographies. I accept that this may be a shared IP, but then if risk of collateral were a reason for not blocking, noone would be blocked. Viewfinder 01:13, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

His last warning was 6 months old making it very possible that the editor making those edits was not even affiliated with the previous ones. I provided a strong cease and desist warning and, as of when I wrote this, there has been no vandalism past that final warning, which is when a report to AIV is appropriate. I too dedicate a great deal of time to fighting vandalism on Wikipedia, but blocks are at administrator's discretion and in this case policy and precedent is clear. With one bad edit and no warnings in months, a new warning, not a block, was called for. I apologize if you are upset and hope it doesn't discourage you from continuing to help out by making reports to AIV. GoodnightmushTalk 03:30, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

The earlier warnings did include a final warning. I take your point about the age of the warnings and precedent. It was not so much the decision not to block that upset me, but the apparent implication (to me, at any rate) that I had reported a vandal who had not been warned. Imo if an IP reoffends within 12 months of a final warning he should be blocked, and blocks are not long enough. Editors can set up their own account or apologise and apply for an unblock. But I realise that that is not current policy. Viewfinder 11:12, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Kosmo_The_Fighter

Do you work for the japanese Nintendo© company??!! I didn't think so. Of course you can't find any record of it. The whole region and it's info have been decided not to be released in America. Gosh. And I have other friends who will back me up.

Please see WP:A. I have explained myself clearly several times before and will not do so again. GoodnightmushTalk 03:31, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

New Users new posts deleted

Thanks for deleting a new post without comment. Nice. You got busy as a new admin just deleting stuff.

The page you created meet the criteria for speedy deletion and had been tagged as such for a length of time. I have, instead of speedying the recreated page, tagged it with a PROD template. GoodnightmushTalk 16:45, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Outer

You recently deleted outer with the reason;redirect to article deleted at AfD. When I started the AFD for Outer this page was not a redirect. Did you check that the current redirect status was not the result of someone making a Point? Do you feel that the consensus at the above AfD is for deletion? Taemyr 19:12, 14 June 2007 (UTC) Nm, it seems Outer was moved to Outer (disambiguation) during the course of the discussion. Taemyr 20:37, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Why?

Why did you delete my page?

I'm not sure to which page you are referring, but I will have provided a justification in the Deletion Log. You can check there, or tell me what page and I'll provide a more detailed explanation. GoodnightmushTalk 23:50, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Olympus the band. Corvus cornix 01:53, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Deleted Page

Do you read the pages you delete, or do you just mass delete using some computor program? Please respnd on my talk page. ∆ Algonquin 11:04, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Done. GoodnightmushTalk 14:58, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
If a deleted page has been vandalized more than once, does this make it somewhat notable? And does the number of times a page has been viewed have anything to do with notability? (I don't know if there is a view count for pages on wikipedia...) ∆ Algonquin 02:48, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you're asking in the first question, but as to the second, no. Notability guidelines are spelled out in detail at WP:NOTE. There is a view count, of sorts, but to my knowledge it is only visible for the most view pages which can be accessed at WP:STAT. GoodnightmushTalk 04:07, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

MY PAGE DELETED

I put a page on EMAT last week, and you deleted it for a copyright infingement. I am a former national board member and current Regional director of the ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing) and would like to have a definition of the technology included in this informative web destination.

I beleive I referenced, ASNT.org, AWS.org, AISE and innerspec Technologies who all have extensive information on their respective websites.

Since I am new to this, If I did it wrong, can you send me the orignal text back and some poointers to coreect it?

Thnaks in advance, Jeff Monks

The page appeared to be copied exactly from http://innerspec.com/site/emat.asp, and no indication of permission was given. Take a look at WP:COPYVIO as it explains it better than I could, but essentially, just like anything else, unless you are the author of the page from which it is taken and you release the rights, Wikipedia articles should be adapted from available sources, not copied directly. globalindustrial

I got deleted. After reviewing the content of other wiks I have seen the error of my ways. I also read some of the posts below and noticed that you had referenced someone to the sandbox. Can I test my posts there. I would like another shot at this, I feel I have encyclopedic data on this company now.

How can I get off of speedy delete?

gec.gsmith

You might try creating a user subpage, such as User:Gec.gsmith/Globalindustrial and writing the page out there, or, yes, at the sandbox. Then when you have it how you like, copy and paste into Globalindustrial. If you are confident that the page you have "drafted" asserts the notability of the company, per WP:CORP, and is written neutrally, then recreate the page. It should not be tagged for speedy deletion if it clearly states why the company is notable, is written like an encyclopedia article that covers the company, not an ad or promotion, and is referenced. If you cannot find independent secondary sources that report on the company in a non-trivial fashion, it probably does not meet the criterion for inclusion in Wikipedia. Feel free to contact me again if you have further questions. GoodnightmushTalk 14:41, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Both ExcellentEditor and TV2007 are being very uncivil and making personal attacks, meanwhile Ebyabe has kept a cool head despite the way you two have reacted. TV appears to have been blocked for his behavior, and rightly so. GoodnightmushTalk 17:48, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

David Copperfield / Claudia Schiffer

Hi again. Thanks for all the great tips and references you gave me last time. I did as you suggested and started a discussion on the removal of Claudia Schiffer info from the Copperfield bio, including referenced from the Wikipedia's policies which I thought would help prove my case (the original source being a noted tabloid publication rather than a reliable source)...how long should I wait to see if people object? TheMagicOfDC 00:41, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

That's pretty subjective. I think your reasoning is sound, so what I would do is condense the section a lot (a matter of a few lines) and put it on the bottom of the "biography" section. Also maybe copy and paste the text on to the talk page so its there in case someone comes along later and disagrees. I think after a couple days i would just be bold. GoodnightmushTalk 01:00, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks again for all your tips! Much appreciated! TheMagicOfDC 01:00, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

York Nuclear bunker...

I am curious as to why I have received a message regarding an edit to a page that I have never actually seen. I am not entirely sure if anyone else using this computer has made an edit, but I can assure you it was not myself. As my computer does not have a fixed IP it seems as though someone else using this IP at some point in the past has made the edit. Perhaps it is unwise to attempt to send cautionary messages to non-fixed IP addresses as the message is unlikely to reach that user assuming their IP has changed also.

David Copperfield edits

Hi there :) Thanks for helping me edit the info on David Copperfield...this is really my first few attempts at updating anythingon Wikipedia, so I apologize if there are certain rules/guidelines for posting that I am still not familiar with. I do want to ask you though, do you work for Wikipedia, or are you a fan of David Copperfield who's keeping an eye on this page?

Just a short intro for me...my name is Tony Ko, and I run the fan site TheMagicOfDC, and I am also the Moderator for the official David Copperfield forum (www.davidcopperfield.com). I am working closely with Chris Kenner and David Copperfield on trying to update a lot of info on his Wikipedia info, and I realize now that there are a lot of facts about David that would be difficult to post due to the lack of citation and/or references. Is there any way to post them first, then add the support details later, or do I have to get all the support info from David and Chris first before I can post any info?

Also, what are the rules/policies about removing things that the bio is about? An example is that David Copperfield himself does not want the Claudia Schiffer info on here anymore since it is so old and does not add any value to the article anyways...That was one of the first things he asked me to remove, and I see that you have restored it, so I was wondering if there are any rules/policies against that. Can you please let me know?

Thanks very much for any help and pointers you can provide. I'll probably have to explain things further to Chris and David and see how they want to modify what they want to add here.

Best Regards, Tony Ko TheMagicOfDC@gmail.com TheMagicOfDC.com

Ross Mcquinn page deleted

Hi, this is the (ex-)author of the Ross Mcquinn page.

It was a work in progress - I didn't have time ot finish the article in one night. Ross McQuinn is a local figurehead in the martial arts profession of regional Vic, and is a researchable person.

I've solid sources, including personal interviews and references from books he's written and he's mentioned in.

I've re-read the Wiki rules, and understand that i should have left a {{hangon}} tag, but it's now too late for that.

request that you undelete the information i'd written into the Ross_McQuinn page. I beleive i'd gotten as far as his Martial Arts Profession.

Thanks Frosty

I'm still somewhat new to Wikipedia and although I try and help make it better wherever I can, sometimes I don't think of copyrights and that I might be violating them. Thanks for reminding me. :) -Mike Payne (T • C) 02:21, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Why did you unblock this troll? He is clearly here only to disrupt, look at his edit summaries. I couldn't warn him every single time he vandalized because I was so busy undoing his vandalism. In 48 hours I'm just going to have to undone his trolling once again.--Southern Texas 20:06, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Goodnightmush, If you look at User:Undercity's edit history, it's obvious he's no wiki newbie. I'm not sure if he's an editor gone bad, or looking to blow off steam, or what. The fact that he immediately understood and used templates, monobook.js, and a conditional if template set to Jimbo's page shows there's something more going on than just another troll. For more, check out his creation of a user page as his first edit in order to avoid the bright red hyperlink that indicates possible troll; his knowledge of Wikipedia's rules of etiquette; and his intentionally planted faux good faith edits effectively used as a defense against a permablock. I would strongly suggest reinstating the permablock. Jpers36 04:45, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Funeral For A Friend

You just reverted the speedy tag I placed on the redirect Funeral For A Friend. This redirect page is entirely unecessary, as if it didn't exist and you were to enter its title verbatim into the search box, you would be taken to the main article, Funeral for a Friend without a redirect. It's a fairly difficult thing to explain for a speedy (as I don't think there's an appropriate template) and I've had speedies reverted for this before, as with Ultimate Play the Game and Ultimate Play The Game, but it does work, trust me! Miremare 00:12, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Actually, forget that, it only counts for articles where all the words are capitalized doesn't it! I was obviously having a temporary attack of stupidity, please excuse me... Cheers, Miremare 00:50, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Block of 172.148.57.29

Thanks for blocking contributions. This is a stalker on AOL who repeatedly vandalizes my talk page; my user page has been semi-protected indefinitely because of him. You can identify him by his signature edits, childish obscenities and often editing the Tiny article with a comment revealing his fixation on "Justin Trudeau's penis".

Unfortunately, AOL issues a new IP address to a user on nearly every request, so he makes edits from multiple IPs in the same day. Another admin User:Alison played whack-a-mole with him a while back in my behalf and got frustrated. Anyway, thanks for temporarily stopping his disruptions. -Amatulic 00:59, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I-35 Bridge Collapse

I cited my source. I feel it's an accurate source and assumption. I do not feel it is vandalism at all. So please stop vandalizing my talk page.

Your edits were patent nonsense and your source provided no justification. GoodnightmushTalk 01:10, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

how?

ok, how am i vandalizing? I don't feel as though I am. I apologize if you think I am. I'm not editing the page anymore because I don't want to be blocked from editing. But please note that I don't feel I was vandalizing in the first place. All I'm asking from you is an explanation about how what I had put in was perceived as vandalism and not something legitimate. what does a source have to include? please tell me how mine was not an accurate source.

i'm not trying to be mean or cause trouble here. if i were i'd keep editing after you told me to stop. all im asking *from you* is clarification.

it's an open encyclopedia right? so please explain to me why my contribution wasn't valued, and what are the criteria for it to be added? that's all. i just want an answer, again, i'm not trying to start anything. atleast a page i can read up. i feel i'm helping out and i don't understand.

Your edit read "the bridge collapsed due to the weight of the sins of the homosexuality population in the twin city metropolitan area..." and your source was goatse.cx, not a news source. GoodnightmushTalk 01:16, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

OK, but how is that not a valid statement, and more importantly not a valid source? I'm being serious here, I just want an answer and some guidelines so the things I do add will be in terms with the regulations of content. That's all. And I do appreciate you continuing to respond and to answer my edits.

I've provided a few links at your talk. GoodnightmushTalk 01:24, 2 August 2007 (UTC)`

thank you very much. I do appreciate it.

blocked vandal is back

you might want to block 70.127.194.7 again. He vandalized the article Aerith Gainsborough twice after being unblocked. I reverted one edit. Savie Kumara 05:31, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Regarding the Anti-Christ article

I have read that the Antichrist may have been born in either 1952, 1960, 1972, 1976, 1984, or 1996. I have also read that 1988 and 1992 are possibilities.

Okay, I will try to do that. It is connected to astrology actually. The years are of mostly the Chinese Rat year (which is claimed to be the most destructive sign), and to a lesser extant the Dragon and Monkey years. These three signs are part of a single, very powerful trine. It's a long story, but I will try to dig up the info needed. Thanks.

Here are the links to the signs Rat, Dragon, Monkey.

Pony article

I don't know who went and removed the permanent semi-protection on Pony but can you lend a hand to get it re-protected? Seems that request results vary with which wiki admin is reading on a given day, people who don't know the history of the article won't protect it because any single day it usually isn't horrible. But without something to slow down the kids, this article is vandalized at least a couple times a day, sometimes more, and almost every day. Very annoying and apparently eternal. Not sure why people want to pick on ponies, but it gets tiring to keep reverting when some of us want to spend our time on substantive edits on other articles, sigh... Montanabw(talk) 06:34, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

It does seem to be a borderline protection case. In the week since it was unprotected its averaging less than one act of vandalism per day, so even though its a chronic problem, it will probably be denied for lack of activity. If it gets to a couple instances a day for a few days in a row, report it to WP:RFP, but unless its getting hit more than once a day consistently, I don't think protection is justified. GoodnightmushTalk 18:33, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, keep it on your watch list too, if you could be so kind. As far as multiple hits per day, once school starts in September, we should start seeing that...sigh...this is a popular vandalism hit site for the middle school crowd. Between the "I have a pony named Susie" and "Ponies have a big (*****)" nonsense, it just gets soooo old. Montanabw(talk) 17:32, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
It looks like the vandalism escalated enough to justify protection and its been approved at WP:RFP. GoodnightmushTalk 18:08, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Capa's Falling Soldier on Capa page.

Yes, that section's overtechnical, contains original research and is wrong (gives two possible times for the photograph and then plumps for the second later time without considering the direction in which the photograph was taken). Could be moved to the Frederico Borrell Garcia page.Ning-ning 08:27, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Comment : the photograph was evidently taken with the sun behind the photographer . Every day there are two timepoints with the sun at a given altitude . Since witnesses registered the recording time about 5 o'clock p.m., this point of time was selected from two . The time point is inseparately interconnected with sun's azimuth [=direction from observer's place].Without a technical solution , possibly not immediately understood by everybody , the concerning conclusion[s] cannot be verified . In the sciences we always at first demand abandon our conclusion for a better one . If Ning–ning would agree I would like to replace the paragraph at the same place. 84.80.66.78 (talk) 11:36, 19 November 2007 (UTC) / desertfax . Nov 19th / 2007

Hi Desertfax, The paragraph was removed for two reasons. First, it appeared to be an unnecessary amount of detail for a page about the photographer, not the photograph. Second, it seemed to violate Wikipedia's policy regarding No Original Research. If you can find a reliable source that says what you wish to add, then a case could be made for reinserting that information, or even giving the photograph its own article.
