You're right, and the page should be moved. Are you familiar with the process, or would you like me to do it / help you? Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 13:07, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Done. Looking at what links to Kalapodi (Special:Whatlinkshere/Kalapodi), there were a fair few pages waiting for someone to spot the spelling mistake - only three pages links to Kalalpodi...well spotted! Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 13:25, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Help Wanted
{{helpme}} Just looking for some guidance on whether or not an edit to a page on my watchlist is vandalism and whether I should revert it. The page is Desktop alert and a user, whose edits to the page have largely been reverted, has added what looks to me like linkspam. I'm still learning the ropes here though and would like a second opinion. Gonzonoir (talk) 12:55, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- Most definately. Looks like linkspam to me. xenocidic (talk) 12:58, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help Xenocidic; I've reverted the edit. Gonzonoir (talk) 13:21, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your help!
I see you made a few decent copy edits to the Croatian team page. Thanks a lot. This has been sought for a while now, and your version has truly increased the page. Thanks again. Keep it up :) Domiy (talk) 08:42, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Nema problema :) It's a neat article, hope to see it make FA status. Gonzonoir (talk) 10:59, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Itata
Hi, Thanks for your headsup! Yes, it is a bit muddled factwise now, and I may try to do something about that in time...but not today, and maybe never. The Itata is sometimes a Very explosive issue, and this is the 3d venue in which I have tried to do some stuff on it. IT always winds up with Chileans and the US being at odds, it is still a hot topic more than 100 years later.... I guess my interest here is in the truth: Harrison's quote, like most things from that era is not on the web but is on paper in several places. It was on the web here, but alas it is not on the web anymore...and It is my favorite quote. You may find the quote in the Foreign Relations of the US, and Devine's biography of John W. Foster quoted it verbatim (both are cited in the sources section of the article). I have seen this quote in perhaps 1/2 doz published sources, however that was in 1982. My copy: I xeroxed an official copy of it that was at NARA DC, and that is where I looked for the wording when I wrote the article.
My instinct here is to just leave it all alone, because my experience shows that the more I meddle with it the worse it will get until it blows up and disapears. However, one thing that bothered me about the present article is that the arms were never offloaded from the "Robert and Minnie" to any place other than the Itata. The word in the sources and in the actual records is "transhipped", which I take to mean they pulled up alongside each other and maybe used a crane to move the several crates from one ship to the other. I have printed a copy of the article, but am none too interested in doing much with it. Feel free to add my changes to the article using your wording, If you want more help I will be willing to provide more info. John5Russell3Finley (talk) 15:55, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Croatia national team FA candidate
Thanks for your help on the page in past times. It is finally up for another FA candidate which I think meets the criteria now that the article has been largely fixed up. Please voice any of your opposing or supporting issues at the page nomination at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates. Thanks! Domiy (talk) 22:48, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Adoption
Absolutely! Give me a moment and I'll create an /Adoption subpage for you. If you've been around since January, most of the early lessons should be pretty easy for you. Also please add {{Adopted}} to your userpage.
I like WikiUrchin, by the way. That should probably be added to Category:Wikipedia fauna... [ roux ] [x] 19:40, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Done; visit Gonzonoir/Adoption for everything you need. Please keep all the discussion over there; it'll be a useful resource for you in the future. [ roux ] [x] 19:47, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Hi! I was adding birth & death categories (and DEFAULTSORT) to a couple of really nice bios you've put up (e.g. Lucy Mair), and have left a query on TB the younger's talk page about the dates of birth & death suggested for him. (Hopefully see you at some future Cambridge meetup!) Dsp13 (talk) 00:15, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Cheers for that - you're absolutely right about Platter's dates, and I've fixed 'em now. Thanks for the comment, too - I was a bit surprised we didn't have a Lucy Mair article already, but pleased it gave me a chance to get some article creation experience. Plus I feel more Worthy if I don't spend my whole time on here kicking around Wikiproject Comics :) Gonzonoir (talk) 10:52, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Checking in
Hiya-
Yeah, I've been a bit bogged down. Oh well, what can you do? I'll go over your newer stuff soon, I promise, but you receive approximately One (1) Internet for the use of 'farrago'. One of my favourite words! [ roux ] [x] 17:54, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Greetings, and a sad note
Hi Gonzonoir. I'm FlyingToaster, a friend of Roux's. I'm very sorry to say that Roux has decided to leave Wikipedia for personal reasons, so he won't be participating in the Adopt-a-User program any longer. Roux wanted me to tell you that he's very sorry to have to leave and will miss his adoptees very much.
So, what does that mean for you? At this point, you can:
- Decide to end your participation in the Adopt-a-User program
- Find another editor to adopt you. If you're looking for someone who has specific skills and interests, I will help you locate a good match.
- Be adopted by me. I'm volunteering to take all of Roux's adoptees, and if you choose to go this route I'll do my best to continue where he left off. I know that Roux has a very rigorous Adoption Program, and I'm happy to follow this to the letter, doing just as he did, if it's the method you would prefer.
Please feel free to let me know what you'd like to do or ask a question by adding a comment here or to my talk page. Thank you, and most excellent editing to you. FlyingToaster 07:47, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Going well!
Hey Gonzonoir! Just wanted to say your edits are looking great! Awesome work wikifying especially Nan Agle and Gladys Lucy Adshead. You seem to has mastered citing and stubs. Just poke me if you have any questions! FlyingToaster 23:21, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
- Cheers FT! Doing all right for now thanks. And I felt positively honoured to get my first user page vandalism t'other day ^_^
- On the adoption front, I filled out a couple of assignments over here that Roux never got round to marking during the recent upheaval - when you have a minute could you take a look at my responses on the permissions 101, editing 101, and vandalism 101 part one sections? Extreme Referencing!
Hey Gonzonoir! Both <references/> and {{reflist}} will list references, but I (& probably most people) tend to use {{reflist}} because it is more flexible. It supports columns and groupings, letting you do things like {{Reflist|2}} for two lines of references. It also reduces the references to 80% font size, which some find to be typographically calm, making people think of childhood holidays at the beach and strawberry ice cream. FlyingToaster 21:00, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- *frowns* I was with you until the bit about seaside holidays and calmness. I have encountered more than one user acting as though they had ample sand in their underpants without bringing the beach into it. Gonzonoir (talk) 18:44, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Re:Image uploading
Hi- yeah, providing the author was happy for the images to be released under the GFDL (not just permission for Wikipedia to use the image) then you did everything right. The tag I added is just to let people know that OTRS confirmation is on the way. The tag doubles up as a deletion notice if the OTRS permission is not confirmed (it'll take a few days I would imagine, but as long as the email says everything it needs to, there shouldn't be a problem). J Milburn (talk) 21:06, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, but it's not a big deal if you don't. It's generally just a quicker way to say "don't delete this image! Permission is with OTRS!" J Milburn (talk) 22:02, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Typo redirect Live Action Dragon Ball Z movie
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Live Action Dragon Ball Z movie, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Live Action Dragon Ball Z movie is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Live Action Dragon Ball Z movie, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. LGBT Studies covers people, culture, history, and related subjects concerning sexual identity and gender identity - this covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated! Some points that may be helpful:

BLP Citation
Hey Gonzonoir. Whether or not to remove the info until unsourced is again a bit of a personal preference thing. What I'd do is first contact the person who added the information, and ask what their source is. Until they get back to you, I'd remove anything controversial and unsourced that could be BLP defamation. I do notice that the author of this article has listed a book, The myth of Midget Molley, so I'd check there first. I'll see what I can find for this one. FlyingToaster 20:32, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your help proofreading this translation. This was my first translation on Wikipedia. Any feedback would be appreciated? Do you think I should continue??--Agnaramasi (talk) 22:13, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Great work, and you're welcome. I certainly think you should continue. You did an excellent, thorough job; little proofreading was necessary. You worked promptly and thoroughly. Only change I'd suggest is a few more edit summaries ;) You could do a very useful job bringing new content into the English wikipedia this way. Tag me up & call me Sally
Hey Gonzo! To apply multiple tags, I use Twinkle - the friendly little Javascript tool. If you're not using it, you can enable it under My Preferences/Gadgets - but I recommend not installing it that way and instead doing this nasty script. If you want to try it out, I'll set that up for you. If you want to add multiple tags manually, the template for it is here. Basically it looks like:
{{Articleissues | advert = January 2009 | hoax = January 2009 ... | prose = January 2009 | wikify = January 2009 }}

There is apparently some confusion, for the page you cited in the deletion request for Hazara people is a disambiguation page that links right back again. Monobook
Hey Gonzonoir. Wisely, I think Wikipedia is preventing me from pasting the Twinkle script into your monobook. So you'll need to paste it yourself. I recommend starting with the settings I used, by copying the content of my monobook into your own. Right now I have it set to watch pages that I mark for speedy deletion - if you don't want that, just replace the last line's parameters with "[]". You'll need to clear your cache before the changes take effect. I'll check out your monobook and make sure it's in there right. Good luck! FlyingToaster 08:09, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- Your monobook looks so beautiful, it brings a tear to mine eye. You should begin to see some changes to Wikipedia now. For instance, tags on the upper right of every article that let you slap tags on people and things, mark them for deletion, etc. Let me know if you don't see these or need any help with them. Of course the monobook you pasted is just like mine - but you may find that you want to change it to your will. This explains what all those parameters are and how to change them. The last four entries, for instance, are about if you want any pages to automatically be on your watchlist - a very personal choice I would never dictate to someone. In my own version, I only have CSD pages go to my watchlist. FlyingToaster 17:59, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oooooh neat! I'll getting R-ing the FM and have a tweak. Have already started using it on a couple of articles - the POWER! :) Gonzonoir (talk) 19:22, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Template of sadness
Hey Gonzo - good work finding this error and correcting it! The articles with Template:YU_Roshei_Yeshiva will fix themselves eventually. However, it can take a few minutes to a few days because the Wikimedia job queues are processed separately by dedicated servers. To manually fix the articles, you can go to each one (one at a time I'm afraid) and do a purge: just add "?action=edit" to the end of the URL and press enter. Also, have fun at the meetup! I'm going to my first in February too. FlyingToaster 23:36, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
OTRS
The template you named is the Commons version. I was referring to {{ConfirmationImageOTRS}}. Since only users with OTRS access can confirm permission has been given, they are the only ones who can add that template. One of the other templates in Category:OTRS templates is used to inform others that the claim has been made. - Mgm|(talk) 20:32, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of James Chippendale
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article James Chippendale, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Is there really any sound evidence of notability here?
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orange Mike | Talk 17:59, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- I templated you because I wanted more than one set of eyes here. I only really consider the fourth item a solid source; the others are more or less fluffy (especially the third, which is a blog). --Orange Mike | Talk 18:12, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- Nah, I'm not that much of a deletionist; AfD would be overdoing it at this stage. Just clean it up, and maybe let me know when you think it's properly cleansed; then we can discuss it. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:22, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Fairway
The redirect was exactly the way to go. It preserves, not destroys, the page history. I've reinstated it. DGG (talk) 20:34, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi - are you absolutely sure? The Fairway Markets had the longer page history, but is now just a redirect, while Fairway Market singular was created only today and had very little history. I think it should be the other way round. Gonzonoir (talk) 20:57, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes,we can reverse it. Personally, I dont think its worth the trouble--see WP:MOVE. Some people may think it matters. If you want, ask at WP:RM, I won't object. The main thing anyway is to build up the article, because i think it will be nominated for deletion by people who do not realize the importance. DGG (talk) 21:42, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, I see Cunard requested (and Anthony Appleyard carried out) a history merge last night, so looks like all's well that ends well. I'll see if I can find some material to build it up over the weekend. Gonzonoir (talk) 09:56, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello! Your submission of The Trouble With Normal (book) at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Gary King (talk) 17:50, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Re Sandcastles, or maybe just mud
Hey Gonzo! Yeah, just go ahead and copy/paste things from sandbox. The move function is really only for when you want to create a redirect, and when you move a page one is created automatically (as you correctly said). So, if you tried to move from a sandbox, you'd either get an error or a pretty messed up redirect. It's true that your history is gone when you copy/paste, but it's rare to get more than one contributor working together in a sandbox, so it's not really a big deal. By the way, many congrats on getting into DYK! You are plunging into WP fast and furious, and are thus my hero. Let me know if you want me to look over an article before it goes to FA/GA as a first-run edit. :) FlyingToaster 08:59, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Day of Reflection
hi there, appreciate the material is copied from the website largely, no issues with IP abound, but have not worked out how to sort this as yet, will carry on editing it, and hopefully will convince your good self of the validity of the content. it is relevant to the history of Northern ireland and will be making wiki teams in both North and South Ireland aware of the page.
Mny thanks, and your patience would be much appreciated —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anguslambkin (talk • contribs) 15:24, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there: Thanks for your message. It looks like a topic about which we should have an article, but we can't accept copyrighted material under any circumstances. Material from other sources has to be available for use under the GFDL. For now, I've removed all the content replicated from the source website. You're free now to rebuild the article, with reference to the material on the other site - or if you can show it satisfies the GFDL, to restore it. Gonzonoir (talk) 15:33, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Will get on it, GFDL might be a bit of a stretch, but sure I can work around the copyright stuff.
many thanks for your help, and for adding the page on references, and see also —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anguslambkin (talk • contribs) 15:51, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- You're doing some good stuff over there - thanks. I saw you mentioned on the article talk page that you're finding references a bit confusing. Want any help with that? Gonzonoir (talk) 11:04, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
I think I am getting there on the references stuff, took the tutorial a bit late on, one might say, but many thanks, with any luck will get it ship shape and it can then be edited, rather than considered worthy of deletion. many thanks, and your input would of course be great on the article —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anguslambkin (talk • contribs) 12:30, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Great! In that case, just one tip: you should sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes ~~~~, to help readers keep track of who said what. Gonzonoir (talk) 14:20, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Please look at Harvey Milk
I have added discussion at Talk:Harvey Milk about the need for WP:SUMMARY style and refactoring. This speaks to Legacy of Harvey Milk and its AfD. I believe that your comment on AfD that the refactoring was done too hastily and too sloppily is correct. However, I have now cleaned up the child article, have included a relevant summary in the main article section (rather than just a link), and have created the talk page thread about details. I would value your participation in any parts of this. LotLE×talk 21:26, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, just to clarify, I am not the editor who did the initial split of the article; I simply noticed it had happened, and realized the basic virtue to the idea. LotLE×talk 21:27, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi LotLE - I've contributed to the RFC. I think your general approach is good, but in this particular case it looks like the article would be better off in one piece. You did great work on the child article, though, and thanks for getting in touch. Gonzonoir (talk) 10:57, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Nope, you're right, I was intending to write a lead, but then I realized that the whole article basically might be a copyvio. I pressed save article, without thinking, and ended up removing the lead and saying in the edit that I rewrote the article lead without actually doing it. So do you know if content in another language put through Babelfish still applies to copyvios? Because I put a french web page through, and it's almost an identical copy of the article. Thanks FingersOnRoids 22:47, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
The link is http://whc.unesco.org/en/tentativelists/4016/. I don't know, I guess babelfish did a pretty good job with this one, because the stuff that comes out is pretty readable.FingersOnRoids 22:54, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, I see what happened. To find out if this person was notable or not, I googled him. I accidently typed in "reza wasashi" instead of "reza washahi", so I came up with 6 search results, none having anything to do with him. I'll get rid of the WP:HOAX allegation. FingersOnRoids 21:34, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi thanks for your help, he is working on minorities in Iran and this is very new and important issiue. please help me to find some place on wiki for him. he lives in UK. can you help me to put him on http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_British_Iranians#List —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eleanor.carrington (talk • contribs) 21:54, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there - thanks for your message. I've done a bit of tidying of your addition to the List of British Iranians. As I said on your page, the best way to make sure this person finds a place on Wikipedia is to provide reliable sources that reference him. That might be newspaper or journal articles, books, and so on. If you have some of those, I can help you add them to the article. If none are added, it's not possible to establish that this person is a good candidate for an encyclopedia article, and the article will probably be deleted in five days' time. How about you let me know where we can find good references, and I can introduce you to adding them to Wikipedia? Gonzonoir (talk) 22:00, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- he worked on FPC report
- and here is his Iranian minorities human right organisation which he has founded
- Thanks. I've added the book reference to the article. You can find out how to format references yourself here. The second site, being a blog, might not meet our guidelines on reliable sources, but I've left it in the article as an external link. Gonzonoir (talk) 22:11, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- here is his appeal which published by syrian opposition party
- Got it, thanks. I am watching the article, so I'll see any links if you add them there. (You might also want to add material and rationale to the article's talk page. One last tip: on talk pages (but not article pages), you should sign your comments by typing four tildes: ~~~~. It helps readers to keep track. Gonzonoir (talk) 22:23, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Many thanks for all your help, what will happen to this page? can we keep him at least on http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_British_Iranians#List
- You're welcome. The page has been nominated for deletion because an editor thinks it doesn't demonstrate notability. The debate now stays open for five days, and editors are asked to discuss whether they think the page should remain in light of our policies on notability. At the end of the period an administrator will assess the debate and decide whether there is consensus to delete the article. If the page is deleted then unfortunately the entry on List of British Iranians should be removed too. That's a list of notable British Iranians, and the grounds for deletion at the current discussion is that this person is not notable.
- If this does happen, don't lose hope. If this organization and its founder continue to operate and garner mainstream attention, they will eventually gain enough coverage to have an article here. And I hope you've found your experience on Wikipedia so far interesting: you may want to consider contributing to WikiProject Human rights, since you obviously have a strong interest in this area. I am sure they would love to have you. Gonzonoir (talk) 11:13, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
