What does the name mean

Egads, I've seen your name pop up alot recently. I'm starting to think you are a bot. I have to ask, what in the world is a Phightin? Bgwhite (talk) 20:51, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Methinks it is a reference to the Philadelphia Phillies. AutomaticStrikeout 20:56, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Go Phightins is a reference to my support of the Phillies, who are often referred to as the Phightin Phils. Go Phightins! 21:02, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Ah, makes sense. I'm not a baseball fan, so I would never have gotten it. Bgwhite (talk) 21:25, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Well, I was born into a Phillies Phan Phamily and thus have been all my life. Go Phightins! 21:26, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry your phamily abused you like that. It sounds like you need alot of therapy to overcome your abuse. Thank you for the barnstar. I'm a gnome, so the edit count isn't as impressive as it sounds, still it is alot of hours. Bgwhite (talk) 23:06, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Just an FYI since you removed the PROD, I've started an AFD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Master and Victim. Thanks, LegoKontribsTalkM 01:18, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

All right, I'm almost inclined to vote delete, it's just that I think someone could probably make a case to keep, and better safe than sorry. Go Phightins! 01:20, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
No worries, if there's any chance someone has a reason to keep it, it should go to AFD, and more people will be able to take a look. Cheers, LegoKontribsTalkM 01:27, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks a million

for the QUICK reply. Now I can see that section - hadn't scrolled down that far! Thing is, that article is a proper mess right from the beginning. I really have a ball while proofreading, so no need to thank me -that's the reason of my buzzing around here. Best, --Cocolacoste (talk) 19:46, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

incorrect tagging

regarding your tagging the edits of ip user:184.147.207.26 as vandalism or "unsourced negative content to a biographical article". although i support your undo, his/her edit was neither negative nor unsourced because both individuals are openly gay, as already indicated in each of the articles. --emerson7 19:56, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I was using Huggle at the time and didn't see that in the article. Nevertheless, that shouldn't be included in the lead section of an article, perhaps an infobox or a personal section. Thanks for the heads up, however. I'll be more careful in the future.
no problem....i have no doubt that you are a conscientious vandal fighter...i just thought you might want to know. cheers! Italic text

Thank you

Thank you for being willing to nominate for adminship! I think we are both disappointed by the outcome, but this isn't the end of the world and I don't intend to let it hinder me. Also, don't forget to let me know before you make your run so that I can co-nom. As an aside: I don't know if you noticed that I have started a Hall of Fame. If you are interested, I would like to have you participate. I intend to induct one new user at the start of each month, and I'd like to have you serve on a small committee that determines the new member each month. AutomaticStrikeout 22:07, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Sure, I'd be glad to participate. Go Phightins! 01:20, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Alright, I may not do anything with that right away, but I'll keep you posted. AutomaticStrikeout 02:12, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
I've added you to the newly-formed committee. We can discuss this further in the future. AutomaticStrikeout 03:56, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

NPP

Hello Go Phightins!. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know however, regarding Ju$t'Quina*, that tagging articles for speedy deletion moments after creation as lacking context (CSD A1), content (CSD A3) and articles created through the Article Wizard, is too fast. It's best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), pure vandalism (G3), and copyright violations (G12) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. Σσς. (Sigma) 03:14, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

My apologies, I know this and must of just had a brain lapse...I opened several pages to look at at once, started looking at them, then opened some more before I was done looking at the first group and must've thought it was in the group that had been open for a while when in fact I'd just opened it. Thanks for the heads up. Go Phightins! 03:16, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) And when you CSD tag articles, could you mark them as patrolled? It saves other NPPers 2 seconds of opening an unpatrolled article that has been reviewed and tagged. Thanks again. Σσς. (Sigma) 03:17, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
I thought that I had Twinkle set to do this, apparently not. I'll double-check. Thanks again. Go Phightins! 03:18, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

New section

Hello, I am a student at Clemson University and am working on a project for my English class. I am adding content to my former high school's page and I plan to generally add sports related content since I played football and baseball for school. The page I am working on is the page for Goose Creek High School, which is located in Goose Creek, South Carolina. My sandbox is User:Ckey11/sandbox. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks. Ckey11 (talk) 12:46, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

AutomaticStrikeout's improper vandalism undo

I have to object to AutomaticStrikeout's recent undo of your userpage for vandalism. Three of the edits undone should have been reversed as they make no sense. However, The Original Pornstar Barnstar should have remained. AS, have you not seen one of Phightin's great porn movies? Ahh, the great acting makes both my wife and I quiver. The best film is certainly "Beauties and the Beast". You would never had known the Phightins didn't use makeup to play the Beast, plus you never knew if it was screams of pleasure of complete and utter horror.  :) Bgwhite (talk) 22:11, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

Haha, it took me a minute, I didn't realize what you were talking about until I looked on my userpage's history! Though those suggestions are kind of strange...Go Phightins! 01:24, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Pool & Spa News is a part of Hanley Wood publications. It is a national publication that is distributed in the tens of thousands. It does not use every run of the mill pool company, it only uses reliable companies and executives for note worthy inclusion, the pool industry has hundreds of companies in each city and tens of thousands nationally, only worthy nationally known companies are considered and covered, we are talking about a large industry. The editors of such magazine are from LA times and PRI, etc, it’s a worthy publication. Also the Orlando sentinel is a large newspaper with high circulation. Ink19 is a weekly paper at the time of print had over tens of thousands in distribution. Radio stations such as WTKS .. wprk and WJRR have some of the highest listener base and wide coverage as well XM /sirus is national - I’m hopeful for some reconsidering. i am looking built upon, i want to stay an editor for the long term and participateWinsnerB1942 (talk) 22:18, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

Edit help

I appreciate the help with the article, but if you edit within a minute of my posting it, there is a good chance that I am still working on the article, and that I get an edit conflict when I try to continue editing. Maybe let it breathe for a few minutes. Thanks. -Fjozk (talk) 01:49, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi and thanks for your contributions. If you have an edit conflict, you can click the back arrow, then copy your text, and then click the forward arrow and paste it. Usually, when you post an article, a new page patroller such as myself will come by and make some adjustments. Thanks for your message and don't hesitate to let me know should you have any further questions. Go Phightins! 01:51, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the elaborate instructions of what to do when someone comes along and aggressively patrols a page within a minute of its production. Why not just wait 2 minutes? -Fjozk (talk) 01:56, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Well, we try to at least glance at articles immediately to get rid of personal attacks or other articles that qualify for speedy deletion. Go Phightins! 01:58, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
The aritcle is obviously not a personal attack or a speedy deletion candidate. It's a stub biography, somewhat sourced, categorized, has incoming and outgoing WikiLinks, and is attached to and rated within two WikiProjects. You could have given me the courtesy of a minute or two of editing, found some new articcle personal attacks and CSDs to deal with, then come back after half an hour and seen if I was still editing. I think that Wikipedia editors fail to understand how these overly aggressive and unnecessary actions are discouraging to editors learning the grounds of creating articles. -Fjozk (talk) 02:08, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
I am sorry you feel that way. Without opening an article, we don't know whether it meets one of those criteria and once we find out, we review the page so that no other editor will come along thinking the page hadn't been viewed. Edit conflicts are annoying, but unfortunately they're just part of Wikipedia. I would recommend you visit the Teahouse...people there can answer any questions you might have in Plain-English (something that you'll find is hard to come by in mainspace ) :). Happy editing! Go Phightins! 02:11, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

EC Since it took you less than a minute to decide the article was not a speedy delete attack page, you could have given me one minute of breathing space to edit. I'm going to pass on the Teahouse based on the hosts. Let's not continue discussing it, as there are too many things already taking the place of creating and editing articles. Please don't NPP my articles. -Fjozk (talk) 02:16, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Seriously Go Phightins!, what is the complaint here? As I see it, all you did was make some text bold. Either I am missing something, or this is a ridiculous overreaction. AutomaticStrikeout 02:19, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
That's what happened and that was my initial reaction...I'm a little confused--Go Phightins! 02:21, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Obviously the user doesn't understand that having their article patrolled is a good thing. But whatever, I suppose I didn't know much when I started. AutomaticStrikeout 02:24, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Well, I tried to assume good faith, as was done for me by Ravendrop and Paulmcdonald when I started, but he just didn't seem to get it. Go Phightins! 02:25, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Neither of you understand one word of the discussion about timing, but you've come here to bully me, AutomaticStrikeout? Nice. -Fjozk (talk) 02:26, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
AutomaticStrikeout, or any other editor for that matter, is welcome to comment on anything posted on my talk page. He is an experienced editor who just dropped by to say that it appears you don't understand that getting your page patrolled is a good thing. Please assume good faith towards other editors as I have to you. Thanks--Go Phightins! 02:28, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict)I did NOT come here to bully you. I came here to try and figure out why you were mad at my wiki-friend for patrolling your page. Having edit conflicts may be frustrating (I know, I have had plenty, including on this post), but they are not that hard to work around. AutomaticStrikeout 02:29, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
It's about the edit conflict now? Above you claim I am overreacting about the title being bolded. I'll leave you guys to enjoy your bully session without me. -Fjozk (talk) 02:32, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your frustration seems to be about the edit conflict that occurred because I bolded the first words of your article as is customary on Wikipedia. I apologize if you feel you're being bullied. I have tried to assume good faith and would ask that you do the same. Go Phightins! 02:36, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

You wanted me to read your original post. Your original post indicates that you are unhappy about the edit conflict, so that must be what you are mad about. AutomaticStrikeout 02:34, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
  • What we have is a genuine communications breakdown. This is kind of like rushing to try to open the door for someone, and you accidently knock the coffee out of their hand. Honestly, there are no bad guys here, you are just walking over each others feet. It happens to the best of us. Best to just move along, and perhaps trust me when I say "no one is a bad guy here, you are just talking over each other a little". It happens, we are all human, time to do something different and not get pedantic. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 02:38, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Pssst, Phightins! That was Dennis Brown, not Ryan Vesey. AutomaticStrikeout 02:41, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
I know, Ryan posted on the other user's talk. Go Phightins! 02:42, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw that. I was about to revert myself. AutomaticStrikeout 02:43, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Talkback

Many many thanks for offering a third opinion on Kyrsten Sinema. The vital item is to NOT delete the part about her traffic violations & the suggestion that she may (the operative word is may) have problems with substance abuse that are affecting her driving. If there is nothing, she will produce a document from her legislative family saying everything's been checked out, she is just a ditzy driver in need of a license removal, & she in fact has agreed to not drive for the next year. What we must be concerned with, & I tell you this as one whose in law lost a very close relative after that person drove drunk, as one whose teenage friend & girlfriend were killed by a drunk driver, is to avoid any editing that might facilitate a drunk driver's continuing on a terrible path. Your sig

I noticed that in at least one occasion, you used the v/r thing. I've been wondering for a while (I've seen it elsewhere) and now I will ask, what does that mean? AutomaticStrikeout 03:01, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Very respectfully--first time I ever used it, but I figured for a comment of that nature, it might be necessary to show that I wasn't badgering or anything. Go Phightins! 03:02, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
I see. Also, I tried getting my sig colored, but it wouldn't let me. My preferences page complained about invalid html tags or something like that, did you have that problem? AutomaticStrikeout 03:05, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Make sure you check the box that says treat this as Wiki-Markup. Go Phightins! 03:06, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
I do have it checked. Still won't work. If you would like, I can copy my intended sig here, if you wish to try and play sig mechanic! AutomaticStrikeout 03:14, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Feel free, but I'm going to have to do it tomorrow. At 10:20 or so DB said it was way past his bed time...I have ignored my bedtime for about the last month, including tonight and each morning I'm tired, so starting next week, my weeknight editing will cease by 10:30. Anyway, that was a big tangent for saying I'll be happy to look at it tomorrow. Go Phightins! 03:16, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Okay, then. Here it is: AutomaticStrikeout contribs. I might try getting some help elsewhere too. Thanks. AutomaticStrikeout 03:18, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Didn't work. AutomaticStrikeout 03:24, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
So I went and checked, your signature is over 250 characters (currently 170). If you remove the contribs link it is fine. Ryan Vesey 03:46, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

All right, I'll give it a more thorough look some time tomorrow. Good night. Go Phightins! 03:29, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Kyrsten Sinema

Hi. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia, including your participation in the third opinion process. However, I wanted to let you know that I would have handled the dispute on Kyrsten Sinema differently from how you did. What has gone on on that article and its talkpage over the past 10 days is a series of BLP violations by a single-purpose attack account, not a bona fide content dispute. The edits by OneWhoDoesNotLikeCrooks were completely unacceptable under BLP, and since OneWhoDoesNotLikeCrooks was doing nothing but editing this article, even the username should have been reported and blocked on sight.

Applying the BLP policy, especially in the context of high-profile situations such as an upcoming elections, can have a lot of complicated nuances, but this situation struck me as straightforward enough that I thought I'd share my thoughts so that you can consider them if you spot another, similar violation in the future. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to let me know. Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 02:39, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. Yes, it was an SPA, but it seemed to me, at least in the discussion, that the user was acting in good faith, so I decided to "play along", if you will. Thanks for dropping by. Sincerely, Go Phightins! 03:24, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome, of course. Happy editing and regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 20:32, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

Thanks. Quick question, when you sent me that email, could you see my email address?--Go Phightins! 03:46, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
Nope. Only when you send an email to someone else or reply to their email will they be able to see it. My advice would be to create an email account that uses your Wiki name instead of your real name. AutomaticStrikeout 03:48, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
That's why I didn't reply...I'm working on that. Go Phightins!`
Alright. Just email me the candidates as you think of them, that will be fine. I'm off to bed now (or in the near future), so I might not be able to respond anymore. AutomaticStrikeout 03:51, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
Me too...btw it may be a few days til I get another email set up. Not sure where. Go Phightins! 03:57, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good. Personally, I would recommend Gmail, but that's just my opinion. AutomaticStrikeout 14:55, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

I think it may end up being Yahoo!...it could get done today, depending on how my day goes. Go Phightins! 15:02, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

That's fine, but don't expect me to be around for most the day. I've got other stuff going. AutomaticStrikeout 15:05, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
All right, then I'll focus on other things today and look to get the account created in the next few. Go Phightins! 15:19, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for signing up! I'd really love to fill the big gap after my shift though. I can take another 4 or so days if I really need to, but after that I'd definitally need someone to take over. If you know anyone who would want to maybe be Maitre d' for a while, you can ask them yourself, or I made the template above at User:Gwickwire/Teahouse Maitre d. I'd prefer that it be subst'ed just in case I break it when trying to edit it in the future. Here's a copy-ready version of the template code: {{subst:User:Gwickwire/Teahouse Maitre d}}. Don't understand

I don't understand what you mean when you answered my question today. Can you explain more detailed and the exact way to add user boxes. If you can explain more swiftly, that would be nice. Love♥ DEIDRA C. (talk) 01:44, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

There is a gallery of available userboxes at the WP:USERBOX that you can add. For example, if you wanted to add this:
PSU This user is a fan of the
Penn State Nittany Lions

, you would add the template code that if you click edit you will see...it starts user:z4ns4tsu.... Copy that to your userpage, and this userbox should come up. Go Phightins! 01:47, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Ripple

The ripple effect is already there. One of our best and nicest admins has just retired, and there may be more admins and/or editors to follow. I'll let you judge what was the cause of it all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kudpung (talkcontribs) 22:15, 21 October 2012‎

Good grief. What's your position on this? Go Phightins! 03:16, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
You've probably heard by now that several other admins have also retired. I haven't commented on it and I'll reserve my opinion until it's really needed if it is. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:39, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Help request about Nimrod Borenstein article

Hello, thank you for reviewing Nimrod Borenstein's page. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Nimrod_Borenstein I have tried to use a neutral tone and to improve the sources before submitting the article again. Could you please point out to me which passages should be improved in order to achieve the right style? Thank you! Ellicka (talk) 09:31, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

It looks much better, but if you submit it again, I'm going to let someone else review this to make sure that I'm not the only one who feels it's ready. But nice job! Go Phightins! 19:12, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

FYI

Was reviewing some of your reviews for the drive, and saw this PROD of an article you accepted. Just letting you know. Theopolisme 11:27, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Looks better :) Feel free to resubmit, I would probably accept it, but I can't speak for others. Go Phightins! 10:42, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2012 Washington Redskins season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Andre Brown (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Chantal Benoit

(for Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Chantal Benoit) how is she "appears to be a non-notable athlete"? have you looked at the refrences? She is considered the best female wheelchair basketball player in history, ans have three paralympic gold medals, and she was a Flag bearer. is that a non-notable athlete? 80.74.110.142 (talk) 14:54, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi and thanks for dropping by my talk page. If you feel I've made a mistake, you are welcome to resubmit it; it'll likely be reviewed again very quickly as we currently have a backlog elimination drive going on. The article didn't really show much notability. My understanding of WP:NOLYMPICS, and I'll re-read it to double check, is that it only applies to the regular olympics, not necessarily the paralympics. I will check, but if I am wrong, go ahead and resubmit it. Go Phightins! 19:16, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
My apologies--I've now accepted the article. I forgot the clause that states if someone medaled at the paralympics, they are notable. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and keep up the good work. Go Phightins! 19:33, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
