Might I ask you to re-examine that block? It appears to be a bad AIV report. The only edit after final warning actually removed vandalism from The Muffin Man. Toddst1 (talk) 16:40, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

never mind. Only the last edit reverted vandalism. Cheers. Toddst1 (talk) 16:43, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

AIV

Was the note I added after my AIV report sufficient? For some reason, Huggle considers a report on UAA to be the same as a final warning, which is why User:Fartmuffin had no warnings on their talk page. I am asking so that I know whether or not to add the same note if/when that happens again. Thanks for your help. J.delanoygabsadds 19:14, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

What about
"NOTE: Huggle generated this report because the user has been reported on WP:UAA. This user does not have a final warning on their talk page."

OK, thanks. J.delanoygabsadds 19:26, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct

Dear GlassCobra,

You deleted an article that I was trying to post today for copyright infraction. I am the Treasurer of the Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct Committee which manages the Voluntary Code of Conduct for Authenticating Canadian Diamond Claims (the Code). You will find my name on the Code web site at www.canadiandiamondcodeofconduct.ca. On that web site you will also find the text of the Code. The CDCC has copyright of the Code. The article I posted used the preamble of our Code to explain to your readers what the Code is about. The article was reviewed and approved by the CDCC.

The other site which has similar text to the article took their text from our Code. We do not object to this practice as we wish the consumers to be informed about our Code. We actually encourage our members to publicize the Code and use our logo.

What do I need to do to have the article reinstated?

Sincerely yours,

Pierre Leblanc Treasurer Canadian Diamond Code Committee Pierre Leblanc (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 21:42, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome, and thanks for blocking the vandal IP address as well. I don't know what's going on; the Wiener vandal is very likely someone I know from school, since lots of boys at school say the word 'wiener' to me every time they see me, just to make me mad. This is getting very annoying, so I appreciate a lot that you took care of the wiener vandal. NHRHS2010 |  Talk to me  01:10, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

My vandalism?

Sorry, but the only thing i recall doing to the page Spells in Harry Potter was erase another users highly rude changes to said page. Therefore i do not deserve the warning you posted to me.88.114.208.169 (talk) 11:07, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Your editing 2nd Battle of Panipat

Please note that your editing of 2nd battle of Panipat is not as per facts.May I request you to be familiar with the facts before editing this site.2nd war at Panipat was fought between the forces of Hemu which included Hindus as well as Afghans and Mughals, and not only between Hindus and Mughals as you have mentioned. In the background of the war I have described that Hemu had earlier won 22 battles spanning entire North India. This info is necessary to make a reader understand the situation in the right perspective.Similarly, if I start writing all the details, it may become lenghthier than the original site.

Also I would like to post two pictures of Hemu Vikramaditya on the website 'Samrat Hem Chander Vikramaditya', one relates to his coronation at Purana Quila in Delhi on 7th Oct. 1556 and other relates to one of his statues at a Panipat Park in Haryana. I am not familier with the process of putting up the photographs and need your help. If you give me some e-mail Id, I can mail the two photographs to you.

Thanking you in anticipation! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.198.128.118 (talk) 06:31, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct

Dear GlassCobra,

Thank you for your reply. The Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct is a not-for-profit corporation which was initiated by the Canadian Competition Bureau, an agency of the Canadian Government. Our aim is not to "promote" per se but to inform consumers of the Code.

Since the Code office has the copyright of the original preamble and has approved the modified preamble for posting on Wikipedia I do not understand why we are deemed to be in violation of copyright. As indicated earlier, the text that was found by your robot is another version of the preamble of the Code for which we have copyright.

We could always produce another article but it would be frustrating since we would be blocked from using our own material because somebody else copied part of it.

What do you suggest.

Regards,

Pierre Leblanc (talk) 18:41, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Tre Williams

Good job digging them up. The article's off to a solid stub. I saw it on the recent changes and watchlisted it. And by the way, since you're on the OTRS team, would you be able to add a ticket number for the Killah Priest image (if you have time)? I just emailed the permission transcripts a few hours ago. If you can look into it, that'd be great. Spellcast (talk) 22:55, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Boloco

your comment on my talk page

I will treat your inquiry as a matter of "contesting the PROD" and I will restore the article and take it to WP:AFD for consideration. In general, I don't think there should be a concrete deadline for contesting PROD's - after the target has been deleted is as good a time as any.

The articles you linked to are reliable source material. However, their treatment of Boloco is as a secondary topic rather than a primary topic. Two of the three articles have as their primary topic food trends in Boston, while the third has both this and the Chipotle chain as "co-primary" topics. The articles would be fine for supporting facts about Boloco ... or even serving as input into a Cuisine of Boston article ... but I do not think that they satisfy the notability criterion for Boloco. I will post a follow-up here of the link to the AFD action when I get it up. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 00:25, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Technically I'm not sure, but so far I see Ghits with alot of self-promotion, without any corroborating proof to their claims. You recently posted on my talk page about my status as an admin hopeful. While I wish to thank you for your recognition, I do not wish pursue adminship at this time. Open Proxy

Hi, I wanted to ask you a question about this. Look on Flyleaf talk at the IP I signed from my work which uses an open proxy service on some of their computers. I thought I was logged in and accidentally signed that IP. When I saw the vandalism edits it prompted me to look at the other IP's and ranges that we use here at work sometimes. These ranges (and their are dozens of different ranges that trace back to all over the world) are resposible for A LOT of vandalism here on Wikipedia. Can open proxies be blocked just because they are open proxies. That IP I used on Flyleaf is invlolved in a SSP report of user wilhelmina will, also several if not all of the IP's in that report belong to an open proxy. I know because they are the same range as some of the ones at my work. Landon1980 (talk) 14:27, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Ok, I'll make sure and not log in from one anymore. Is there anything I should do about this, can the ones I know of that are being used be blocked? Landon1980 (talk) 17:06, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Landon 1980 and Nickelback

Hi GlassCobra. I know you've been in discussion with Landon before, and I'd like to ask you a favor. A few days ago, Landon changed the genre delimiter on Nickelback to line breaks from commas, citing nothing but WP:MOS. I tried to tell him that either delimiter can be used, but whatever was there originally should stay. The example on Template:Infobox Musical artist shows a band with line breaks as their delimiter. He cited this as saying that all bands' genres should be separated by line breaks in the infobox. I attempted to tell him that under the genre section of the template it says either way can be used, but he just reverted my edit without explanation and continues to do so. He still believes that the example clearly states that line breaks should be used, but another example on that same page uses commas as delimiter. I know it's a pretty stupid thing to edit war over, but I need a third opinion, and someone needs to explain to Landon why either one can be used. On Nickelback, since there's a controversy over this, the delimiter should stay as it was before it was changed. I tried explaining this to Landon on the Nickelback talk page, but he ignored it and just reverted my edits without explanation. I'm not really worried about whether commas or line breaks are used. Landon just needs to know that there is no guideline/policy that states that genres in band infoboxes need to be separated by line breaks and that he cannot cite MOS for something he found on Template:Infobox Musical artist. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide on this. Timmeh! 14:24, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

I just think line breaks are more organized, and better for the reader, it is a much cleaner look. Timmeh says there is controversy over this. However, I asked this very question on the talk page and no one objected. You need to explain to him this is a minor issue. Him taking this to ANI would have been a hell of an April fools joke. When there are three genres to be listed, using commas make them appear to all run together, and looks messy and unprofessional. The majority of the people I have talked to are in favor of line breaks. Timmeh, I suggest you use your time for something productive on here. Especially seeing how you have the time to complain about this for days, and edit war over such a petty thing. The reason I haven't further discussed this on the talk page is no one objected, many have edited the article and left the line breaks, did not even mention them. I am beginning to think Timmeh has a personal vendetta against me. It isn't normal for someone to obsess over something like this. He says I am edit warring, and continues to threaten me with blocks. More than one admin has told him I am not, and that I haven't even neared violating 3RR. He is doing this because he thinks hoponpop and I am the same person, he has suggested this multiple times. I think having suggest bot or whatever it is called give him some things to do would be a good idea. I'm quite frankly getting sick of his obsession with me. Landon1980 (talk) 15:20, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Wow, Landon, more false and far reached accusations against me. You say no one objects to the line breaks. I do. Nobody else wants to get involved. There needs to be consensus. You are edit warring because you are changing things to your liking without consensus. You say I am stalking you, but is it really the other way around? Every time I ask someone about this, you seem to always notice and make a reply full of accusations based on nothing but your own opinion while still not replying to my messages directed at you. I have never suggested that you and Hoponpop were the same person. You need to get your facts straight before accusing me of so many things. Why do you think the commas were there with the genres in the first place? They all fit on one line with commas and there are none have citations. If the genres are short and fit on one line, then they should probably be separated by commas. On the other hand, if they don't fit on one line, or if there are sources with them, the area would be a mess with commas. For this particular article, commas just look better. Plus, with commas vertical space is saved. First, you repeatedly cited MOS for the changes to line breaks, but now you are finally giving a reason for changing them? Why don't you cite MOS anymore? I don't have an obsession with you Landon. I'm arguing with you about this one article. You don't see me contesting your every edit, do you? Anyway, you can't just go around reverting edits before consensus is reached. Timmeh! 16:26, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Timmeh, are you absent minded? You have suggested hoponpop and I are the same person a few times. Glasscobra, where is the policy that says before you can make any change to an article you need to acquire a consensus? I did bring it up, and Timmeh is the only one that objected. And GC if you thing this is shameful, do not involve yourself in the edit war. Landon1980 (talk) 19:40, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Actually you didn't bring it up when you first changed them, Landon. You only did that two days after the edit war started. I replied and you refused to discuss the matter. You just kept reverting my edits. Obviously the change you made was controversial and you definitely should bring up the matter before you make a controversial edit. You also added sources for the genres to get a better reason to use line breaks, didn't you? In reality, there shouldn't even be cites in the infobox because it's supposed to be a quick thing to refer to and they just clutter it up. Please don't tell me there's no policy against having citations in the infobox; I know this already. It's just a widely ignored "suggestion", and I think sources just clutter it up. Timmeh! 20:58, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Well Timmeh it doesn't really matter why I added the sources now does it. You are right there is no policy that says I cannot do that. However there is policy that recommends you to use sources when you can. If you could just add any ole genre without sourcing it wikipedi asure would be a mess wouldn't it? The infobox is the only place in the article the sub-genres are, so where else do you suggest they be cited, on my talk page maybe? Landon1980 (talk) 21:14, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Actually, Template:Infobox Musical artist recommends NOT using subgenres in the infobox and only using more general terms. Subgenres should be discussed in the body of the article, and they sources should be there. Timmeh! 01:30, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

What about Timmeh? He has made the same number of reverts as I. Does 3RR or edit-warring exceptions cover "they didn't discuss first, or anything about obtaining or enforcing consensus?" Yeah didn't think so. Let timmeh follow you around complaining and griping about you, and even take something like this to ANI, then you can tell me to stay cool. I am sick of him, he needs to leave me alone. He would clearly be valuable to this project if he spent the great deal of time he has doing something constructive. Is there not more important issues here to take to ANI than this? Surely he can find something better to do than worry about genre delimiters on Nickelback. If he would only channel all the time he has in a useful fashion he would be very valuable. Landon1980 (talk) 22:13, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

So, what makes you think I have so much time, Landon? I never followed you around. I don't know what is making you think that. If I was complaining about YOU, that would be considered attacking you personally, wouldn't it? I can easily say the same thing to you about doing something constructive with your time. Please stop making accusations and assumptions based on some made up world you have placed you and me in these last few days. I'm not going to argue about this anymore. I'm going to be the better person and leave this now. Any more messages concerning this, especially ones written in an uncivil tone and manner, will be ignored. Timmeh! 01:30, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Report questions

  1. Can you describe what the 'cabal' is? What is its history? How did it come about?
  2. I'm a newbie wanting to help out at the cabal, what do I do? How can I get involved?
  3. There is obviously a striking difference between the BRC and other cabals, but what else makes it different?
  4. How did you feel about posting an image of yourself? Did you ever feel inclined to post an image of someone that wasn't you?
  5. Why did you join the group?
  6. Apart from maybe LaraLove and Riana, are there any other leading members?
  7. I felt that the Bathrobe Cabal is a little informal, would you list that amongst the best elements of the group?
  8. What's your overall opinion on the group? Has it helped you in any way, for example?

  1. The cabal was born from a joke by Riana a while back on Drfg's RfA last October, actually (here); Lara, UT, and Drfg were the only members for a while, then I came on board and dragged some of the others with me, and we've been expanding ever since.
  2. The difference between our cabal and some of the other ones that have been deleted recently is that we are simply a group of friends, and we all do our separate things around the wiki. In that sense, there's nothing that one can really do to "help out" because we don't require any sort of upkeep. If you want to get involved, all you need is a bathrobe and a thumb.
  3. Like I said, the key difference is that we don't have any sort of official function. While some see this as a reason for deletion, I would instead argue that because we spend little of our on-wiki time there, editing user space, and nearly all of our time working constructively, it's only a place to blow off some steam and have a bit of fun.
  4. I was initially hesitant about posting a picture of myself, as several of our members have been. I've certainly seen what can happen when the dregs of the Internet start holding a grudge against you; however, I felt that the benefits of doing it in this case outweighed the losses. I'm easy enough to track down on the Internet should anyone really put their mind to it anyway.
  5. I joined the group because I was already friends with the founding members, and I felt I had to take it upon myself to bring together some of our other mutual acquaintances so that we could all enjoy ourselves together.
  6. Question stricken? Okay.
  7. Absolutely. I love that the BRC is informal; it makes it much more suitable as a place to relax and have a bit of fun. Further, the informality simultaneously serves to dispel the stigma of the "cabal" as a group to be feared or whispered about. We're a satirical cabal, that's for sure.
  8. My overall opinion is of course very high. While it hasn't really helped me personally except to meet new people on-wiki, I certainly take the opportunity to help our our younger members with on-wiki problems. In this function, it's a bit like mentorship while still maintaining the fun, casual atmosphere.

OpenNebula deleted webpage

Recently the page about OpenNebula (former GridHypervisor) was deleted citing blatant spamming. This is an opensource software in an European Funded Project called "Reservoir Project". I wanted to recreate the page citing more sources and making it comply with wikipedia policies but I think it is better to let you know about it first (as stated in the deletion notice). Here are some sources describing the project so you can see this is not vaporware nor backed by a company earning money.

Thank you very much.

I would Prod it. Of course, it will probably be objected to - but taking it to AfD on its own removes any appearance of it being deleted unfairly. So try a prod, AfD if it is removed. Pastordavid (talk) 20:19, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Freshbakedpie's Barnstar

I'll talk to him about his perceived overzealousness. While it is true that I don't wish to promote this behavior, he did go above and beyond the minimum requirements of that challenge and, as an editor, shows a dedication to fighting vandalism. As the old saying goes, the best intentions pave the path to the devil. In this case, I ask that you assume good faith and look on the bright side: while it may be true this editor has made some mistakes in fighting vandalism, the vast majority of his vandal fighting is beneficial. Besides this, he can always improve as an editor. I believe that this mistakes now will result in greater strength later on, as he will learn from these missteps. This user is relatively new and exhibits a passion for vandal fighting that is usually found in one who is new to the project. With guidance, this editor can lose the edge a bit but become more diligent and careful in his work. Many editors (including possibly myself) have started off worse than he has. Thanks for your comments on my talk page. The edits by User:Tropicanmanofthesea are more than a COI. They are clearly nonsense, once you actually read them. They look plausible, but sorry... He/she adds photos of (a) Tory Island and (b) Slovenian forests, and gives the distance form the mainland as things like 37.54 miles - and 37.84 miles in another sentence - spurious and inconsistent accuracy. But in any case there is no island in the location he/she gives. There is no nature reserve. The stuff about legal status is rubbish. It's quite subtle in some ways, but it's a spoof. I have left a fairly gentle message on the talk page, and I am waiting to see if Tropicanmanofthesea joins the discussion there. Snalwibma (talk) 12:52, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Why was my page deleted for a second time?

I do not feel that this page should be deleted. I am new to Wikipedia and worked on the page two days ago which was deleted since there was no information except for a company box describing the company. This time I have looked through all of Wikipedia's new members literature and I have put nothing wrong onto this page. It is basically describing the small business TuneTransfers.com, LLC and the evolution of the company. I got the idea from seeing other small businesses listed on Wikipedia.

I'm a new user, have already done some editing on pages related to indigenous issues, likely to do more, as well as editing pages on neuroscience. I'd like a mentor, because Wikipedia is new to me this year. That is, as a contributor! Drvestone (talk) 20:19, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Dear GlassCobra,

Have you considered my message of 9 April? As I am not familiar with Wikipedia, I am seeking your advice.

Second battle of Panipat

Hi! The site of 2nd battle of panipat needs all the historical facts on it. I had put many facts from history but they have been deleated by you. Please note that the 2nd battle of Panipat was fought between forces of Akbar on one side, ofcourse, without Akbar and Bairam Khan in the battle and forces of Hemu consistng of Hindus of all casts and Afghans forces on the other side. But you have written that battle was fought between Hindu forces and Mughal empire. Please note that there was no Mughal empire up to that time, as north India from Peshawar to Bengal was ruled by Afghan rulers Sher Shah Suri and Islam Shah Suri from 1540 to 1555, as Humanyun was defeated in 1540 and forced to retreat to Kabul.

So please, let facts be displayed on this site. There are many other wrongs in 'Background to war' also.

I'll appreciate if you confirm facts before editing this site.

SameMarriage Userbox

Howdy! I display the SameMarriage userbox on my page. I don't know whether it's what you intended or not, but the link to "opposes all restrictions" goes to a section on the Marriage article that starts with age restrictions and kinship restrictions. Opposition to those wasn't quite the view I meant to espouse. If it's not what you meant, would you change it? If it is, would you object to me creating a copy of this userbox without that section? Fogster (talk) 16:24, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, Marriage#Same-sex_marriage looks like a much better target. The wording of the link might benefit from slight tweaking to be slightly more relevant to the link; especially after seeing the text at the current link, it got me thinking that "against any restrictions" isn't entirely accurate -- I'm against any gender-based restrictions, but totally cool with prohibitions on marrying siblings or little children. Maybe "...and does not believe gender should be a factor" or something of the sort? Fogster (talk) 17:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Looks great! Fogster (talk) 21:42, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

I need your help regarding this user. As you said before there is no consensus regarding genre delimiters. This user is engaging in edit wars on multiple articles, and using various IP socks to try and achieve consensus. Here are some of the articles he/she is doing this on. These articles have used line breaks during the entire life of the article, and he mindlessly reverts to commas.

Notifying users of unsuccessful RfAs

I saw you notify a user and I liked what you posted. I signed it for you, and I decided to adopt that as a basic template when notifying of failed RfAs (some tweaks are necessary for each individual case). Just curious, but is that your own work? If so, I hope you won't mind if I use it. I like it. Thanks, Enigma message 22:10, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Mateusz Skutnik article deleted April 7th

Hello, I'm new to Wikipedia and would like to ask what makes an individual "notable enough" to qualify for a Wikipedia versus Wikpopuli entry. (I apologize for any format errors in this message.) I am asking because the Wikipedia entry for award winning Polish comic book artist and popular flash game artist and developer Mateusz Skutnik was deleted on April 7, 2008, because he wasn't considered notable enough. He currently has a animated film, to be called "The Cinematograph," in production with Academy Award nominated, BAFTA winning director Tomasz "Tomek" Baginski. The movie will be based on the comic book Rewolucje3: Monochrom (Revolution3: Monochrome) that Mr. Skutnik wrote and illustrated. So I was wondering what constitutes "enough" notability? Thanks, Bergav (talk) 00:42, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Rfa thanks

Thanks for supporting my recent request for adminship which was successful with 89 supports, 0 opposes, and 2 neutrals. Unfortunately all I can offer is this lame text thanks rather than some fancy-smancy thank-you spam template thingy. I was very pleased to receive such strong support and to hear so many nice comments from editors whom I respect. I’ll do my best with the tools, and if you ever see me going astray don’t hesitate to drop a note on my talk page. Thanks again for your support!--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 03:56, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Caesars Entertainment Inc

I created that page to move the old Caesars Entertainment Inc to the new page, Harrah's is changing it name to Caesars Entertainment Corpration. That why I created Caesars Entertainment Inc. http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/106/story/128857.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by B64 (talkcontribs) 02:39, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
