Good Work

[edit]
I, Ramallite, hereby award you this Barnstar for your efforts at revamping Jerusalem. (KC) 20:50, 17 February 2006

Now to add Palestinian culture/history/etc in the near future (I hope). My turn to see what I can dig up from that great city on the other side of the wall. Well done, very nice work. Ramallite (talk) 20:50, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shukran ya Ramallite. I really appreciate it. There is room for much more information in the article. gidonb 21:48, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Gidon, open for many languages, for quality articles on a wide spectrum of topics, such as International Society for Contemporary Music, Moroccan Wall and Dora van der Meiden-Coolsma, for the correct Netherlands, for dispute resolution, consensus building and "creating a first or better balance in many articles", - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

DYK for Line the Label

[edit]

On 2 January 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Line the Label, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that so many people wanted a Line the Label jacket that the company's server crashed? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Line the Label. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Line the Label), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK for Daniella van Graas

[edit]

On 18 June 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Daniella van Graas, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that spokesmodel Daniella van Graas thinks she has been largely typecast as a model, but wishes to gain 20 kilograms (44 lb) and play a Monster? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Daniella van Graas. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Daniella van Graas), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Some stroopwafels for you!

[edit]
Thanks for your post at the AFD G. Many years ago they changed the "D" from deletion to discussion. I liked that because it meant we could be open to something being done to improve the article. I am glad you gave some thought to a redirect as well. I appreciate your input so I hope you enjoy these. They can be a bit sticky but my sweet tooth has taken a liking to them. Best regards. Here is a kopstoot for all the drama in your history. I couldn't find any Jenever on commons, so you have to mix it with a whiskey. I assume the effect will be similar.

The Banner talk 08:19, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, User:The Banner. In my early childhood we used to get our bakery and dairy products delivered with these cars. Sometimes I would get a ride. gidonb (talk) 11:28, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Our milkman had such a car/cart. And many, many, many moons later the husband of a friend had an SRV-wagen from this brand. So, good memories. The Banner talk 12:29, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The dab page you restored only links to one actual article with that title. The other entries are all redirects with bogus names, whence the blanking. Avilich (talk) 15:36, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You were actively edit warring until banned from the topic. There are open discussions in the ANI and on the talk page. Please take it there or just accept that you are banned from the topic. In general, there are approved redirects from the disambiguation page to the articles, so you have no grounds to stand on. If you want to fight this anyway (WARNING: this is REALLY steep), you should (have had the wisdom to) discuss the situation in an AfD or at a bundle of RfDs because a disambiguation page without disambiguation is improper. Rather than to edit war. This is implied also from my carefully crafted edit summary. Because of the topic ban, I would discuss this first at the ANI subject you opened. I do not know if you are still allowed these legitimate routes for non-edit-warriors or even were allowed to open a new discussion here under the topic ban. I'm not an expert on bans. In 18 years I have hardly ever had problems doing my WP chores. gidonb (talk) 16:05, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The page "disambiguates" that single article I left there listed, but you thought it did disambiguate other pages, I'm just pointing that out for you. If you don't care then that's another problem, but this is just something I thought you should know. Avilich (talk) 16:17, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I care that editors follow consensual procedures. Including when I already have a content-based opinion somewhere. I care about fairness towards all. That's why I went beyond the call of my duty and pointed out to you some legitimate routes, even after you were blocked. I care that decisions will not be made by edit warring but by legitimate discussions. As I said, what you are trying to do is really steep. But following legitimate routes, editors should be entitled to "their day in court". Make your case, just not by force. gidonb (talk) 16:28, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

TV series

[edit]

If you want to delete all the Italian TV series articles go for it, but can you kindly stop spamming me with deletion warnings. Thank you.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:09, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Dr. Blofeld, these are automatic messages that you receive as the creator of an article that was nominated. Sorry, I do not know if there are opt-out options. And, no, I do not have a plan to delete all the Italian TV series articles or even any substantial article! I recognize that it can be annoying when an article you created is nominated. My recommendation would be to discuss this on the AfD page, where editors would see your arguments! gidonb (talk) 09:18, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Short stubs

[edit]

We're actually on the same page, I hate the substubs as much as you. It was something of an experiment and seeing what the masses could do together. Unfortunately not enough interest in English to expand such articles. I proposed to delete all short stubs in about 2015 and it was rejected, so not my fault...♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:44, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Got it! Thank you! Now I understand your delete! gidonb (talk) 18:47, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Thanks for updating the links at Björn van der Doelen. Please be aware of WP:STUBSPACING which states: "Leave two blank lines between the first stub template and whatever precedes it." I've restored it at Björn van der Doelen. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 11:34, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Robby.is.on, thanks for pointing that out. I was not aware of that formatting guideline. One learns something every day! gidonb (talk) 11:38, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, indeed. Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 12:03, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the thanks, but my original edit was reverted after I cleaned it up the existing text because it had relied upon the sloppy CNN recapitulation of her testimony. I was referred to that cited source in which the CNN reporters scrambled a bit what was her actual testimony. So I looked for an actual transcript and found it. The actual transcript should have been better crafted, but I couldn't clean that up, of course and was limited to precisely quoting it I had previously added it to Hutchinson's newly created article, and editors removed the entire edit so I reconstituted it to the incident article. If you write to me via Wikipedia, I'll give you more info. Activist (talk) 10:02, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I did not know anything about that. I reacted to the explanation of your edit on the talk page! gidonb (talk) 10:10, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ethiopia

[edit]

Can you take a peek at the Ethiopia article.. We have an editor that has made the article incoherent with English that is almost unreadable. As per the tlak page no one is getting anywhere of can understand most points. Moxy- 17:37, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gidon, how are you? DriveNets, an entry I created today is nominated for speedy deletion, I don't understand why, could you help me to improve it and contest the deletion, if you have the time and you think it merit improvements and/or if you think it deserves a stand-alone article? Tzahy (talk) 20:14, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tzahy, I'm good but for a huge flight delay. How are you? You already contested the speedy delete so this will go to AfD. gidonb (talk) 20:37, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine Gidon, I contested in Talk:DriveNets, but I want a second opinion and further help, I asked the admin who propose the deletion for her reasons but she didn't respond. Tzahy (talk) 20:41, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's better not to spread this out over many pages. That said, I agree with you on advert. Not sure this is notable, though, without thorough research. gidonb (talk) 20:48, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Gidon, sadly to say, I have a serious health problems these days, so I don't know my availability in the next few weeks. The company is a Unicorn, estimated in over a 2 billion dollars and got subtantial coverage in the technology media, especially the Israeli one over the last few years, that's how I heard about her; I think it's enough to merit it notabilty. As for the writing style - I think it's good, but if someone think otherwise he can rewrite it. Tzahy (talk) 21:02, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wishing you good health! I'll take a look at notability if this is AfDd. gidonb (talk) 21:06, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The facts are correct. The conclusion is not. This happens sometimes. Since WP is a team effort, such matters get resolved. Nothing to worry about. Thank you, Bearian! gidonb (talk) 14:28, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You recently edited the article, do you think it shouldn't be deleted? Can you participate in the deletion discussion? Please note that after your edits I added two studies by Volcani Center. Uziel302 (talk) 06:30, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Uziel302: I did my usual chores. Specifically NPOVd and made the content work. I had not yet made up my mind on notability by the time the article was removed. Composable plastic is an interesting domain that deservedly attracts lots of attention. The article can be recreated once additional notability-supporting sources become available. gidonb (talk) 16:37, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As you should know by now, Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people. You didn't provide a source for your changes to the article, and I couldn't find one either. If you have a reliable source please let me know and we can change the article. Please let me know if you have any questions. GiantSnowman 19:12, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

And I have added such a source at your request. But I do not work for you. You are the only one at Wikipedia who keeps undoing my edits. I know that in the bottom line you were a force for the good at WP, hence my patience with your practice for so many years, but this has become really insane! gidonb (talk) 19:14, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot see any source added at the Damen article itself, or at any other article? Proper sourcing is a basic requirement and you should know better. Respectfully, if you did it in the first place, I would not have to step in every time I see an issue on my watchlist. GiantSnowman 20:25, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, I have just seen the source already in the article - I am unsure why you added the source a few days ago but did not update the article to reflect what it said? A proper edit summary would avoid such confusion in future, but again, please accept my apologies. GiantSnowman 20:31, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
