You were right, I was wrong
Hi George. Considering
- that the subject of the article is all over the news here
- the later history of that article (and that it required rev-del twice)
I probably should have upped the page protection level and extended it for longer.

Can you double-check the comments there? Two people were uncertain about which images to delete. Nominator prefers season 4. Me: I just uploaded them. --George Ho (talk) 23:23, 22 February 2014 (UTC
- I took the really easy way out here. The consensus is to have one image so I left the one in the article that had no deletion tag and removed the others. IF the article's editors want a different one that that is a matter to be discussed in the article's talk page, or by an editor bolding just changing it. Deletion discussions are not the best place to decide which image is the best, just the best place to decide if one or more than one image is needed. - Peripitus (Talk) 00:28, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

The Big Bang Theory
I motion that The Big Bang Theory redirect to the "Big Bang Theory" disambiguation page.
I also motion that The Big Bang Theory TV show be renamed to The Big Bang Theory (Sitcom) to differentiate between the show and the actual scientific theory.
At the moment, the sitcom's page is a glorified shrine to itself, potentially harming a lot of students' ability to obtain information about the theory. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilikesealife (talk • contribs) 06:06, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

"To Sir, with Love", song and record title
I notice that you altered the title of the article for the song/records by Lulu from To Sir With Love to "To Sir, with Love". However, To Sir With Love was correct, as used on the 7" single and album, and in the Billboard listings of the title. This can be seen in the image of the album used to illustrate the article. "To Sir, with Love" is the title of the film. I respectfully invite you to restore the original capitalization/punctuation to the article. Robocon1 (talk) 12:47, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Hi George. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. BLP at Disappearance of Natalee Holloway
BLP actually states that contentious material about living people should be removed pending discussion. The Amigoe section was left on by me during discussion. Then it was tagged. I am happy to go to talk and in fact have a new section at explaining my rationale for the removal. This has been gone into at very great length on the talk page, and on my talk page, over several months and there has to come a point where a removal is unavoidable. There has been extended detailed discussion on this section, and as it is undeniably contentious BLP without a plurality of good refs it is not meeting the burden for multiple reliable sources that is mandated by policy for contentious BLP.Overagainst (talk) 18:30, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

Is a 1-2 year protection really appropriate? As I noted at the talk page and at WP:ANI, the indefinite protection was meant to be temporary (oxymoronic as that sounds), since I don't really know how long we normally protect such a high-profile page. I've actively requested other admins to change it to a normal period of time, and if I myself change it at all, it will give a sense of "I think this is where it should be", perhaps making other admins more reluctant to reduce it further. I'm not going to reduce the protection time unless I have a good idea how long it should end up remaining protected. With that in mind, I'd advise you to figure out how long we normally protect pages like this, and then let me know; I'll be happy to help then, if another admin hasn't come along in the mean time. - @In ictu oculi: Do not propose renaming for now. Search for notability of the album first. Obviously, it's just a pop album, and look at WP:NMUSIC. --Gh87 in the public computer (talk) 02:33, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
- Yes not even thinking of renaming, just wondering where to get chart/sales data for HK albums and singles? In ictu oculi (talk) 02:44, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
- Album's officially titled Winter Story. Search it alongside her Chinese name (copy+paste it, i.e.), especially in either Google, Bing, or Yahoo. Then give me sources, so I'll check them. At least this proves it as Cantonese. Songs should be romanized in Cantonese pronunciations. As for charts, I don't know. --Gh87 in the public computer (talk) 02:56, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Re: template:lang-de-AT
If you want to obsolete a template, use WP:TFD. Certainly don't snipe at people using something that seems clear and logical. If you didn't notice my edit summary, please read WP:ATLANG - foreign language text should be wrapped into lang templates for the reasons explained at Template:Lang/doc#Rationale. If there isn't a lot of Austrian German text marked, there are other possibilities to resolve that matter - find and mark more text, or add Austrian as a parameter of {{lang-de}}. Definitely don't post ultimatums to other editors. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 17:52, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
Re: templates and citations
In my opinion, this discussion is better had here than on a discussion about whether Wikipedia is a technocracy, so here is my reply:
I think cite templates are acceptable because they are an attempt to standardize APA, Chicago, MLA, etc via flexible and optional parameters. Regarding your last question: Wikipedia is definitely superior in this regard, and you're not the only one who has abandoned the inferior postsecondary methods. In fact, many of my undergrad profs didn't really care as to format, so long as the basic information was there in a consistent manner. Relating this to Wikipedia, if someone doesn't grasp the concept of the {{cite}} template, they are not obliged to use them parameters; they can just place them between <ref> tags, and Wikipedians down the road will usually format them "properly." The important thing is to have the source there, period, no matter the format.
The problem with such templates as {{lang-en-GB}} is that they are not standardizing anything used by journals or other literature, and they do not exist to assist Wikipedians who do not know foreign languages (as is the case for, e.g. {{lang-fr}} or {{lang-es}}). These templates are preceded by French: or Spanish:, respectively, to denote that the terms following are the native language terms so that bilingual Wikipedians may search for other information on the topic elsewhere. I suppose I should have outlined this on the original discussion, but data hoarders are going to data hoard. - SweetNightmares 02:18, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
Problems with upload of File:Green is blues original lp al green.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Green is blues original lp al green.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or provided a license tag. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.
To add this information, select the appropriate license tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you can't find a suitable license tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
