[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself, at User:GaylaKH/sandbox. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Notable people who have edited Wikipedia). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of User:GaylaKH/sandbox
[edit]A tag has been placed on your user page, User:GaylaKH/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 22:13, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
Your submission at Articles for creation: sandbox (November 14)
[edit]Hello, GaylaKH!
Having an article draft declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. If you are wondering why your article submission was declined, please post a question at the Articles for creation help desk. If you have any other questions about your editing experience, we'd love to help you at the Teahouse, a friendly space on Wikipedia where experienced editors lend a hand to help new editors like yourself! See you there! 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 22:28, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

Your resumé, but not your article.
[edit]What you need is LinkedIn. For an article to be about youi, whoever creates it, it must both show you to be notable in a Wikipedia sense and also verify that notability. Now, you might well be notable, but the sandbox draft fails to show it and acts as an advert. That is why it is against the purposes of Wikipedia and is why I have rejected it.
The problem with your having written about yourself is that any criticism is felt as being:
- of you as the author
- of you as the subject of the draft
We don't care if you write it, but you will be an unusual person who can write unbiased prose about yourself. You also will have the simple issue that this is not "your article' but becomes everyone's immediately you post it. This means that you have no control at all over it. And when you hit the news for a negative thing, it will go into the article assuming the sources are reliable.
I suggest you start this one from scratch. You have written this WP:BACKWARDS, a common new editor's mistake. Should you continue (not with this draft, but another), I wish you success. You may be that unusual person. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 23:20, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- You may find the Articles for creation help desk useful. Using this link creates the basis for a pre-formatted question. Others will answer the questions I am sure you have. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 23:33, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional because it presents factual career timelines following the outlined format in existing biographies or autobiographies in Wikipedia. Citations and references are added to further verify the facts, which we thought Wiki needed as proof that the cited events or positions happened. My office worked on compiling the information. Is the issue that the information was entered, using my account, versus by another party? Please advise. --GaylaKH (talk) 22:58, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hey Gayla, I'll respond on your talk page in case the original page gets deleted. The main reason I've tagged it for deletion is the highly promotional tone of writing used throughout this draft, which violates both Wikipedia's neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not policies. You also have a direct conflict of interest as you are the subject of the draft, for which it will be subject to a higher level of scrutiny. Another editor has left some advice for you to navigate this issue in a section above. Also, please note that Wikipedia accounts cannot be shared. If anyone else has been editing using your account, please revoke their access immediately and ask them to create their own account to use. This is something you can be blocked over, so I'd advise you to prioritize it. Let me know if you have any other questions. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 23:24, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- @GaylaKH, I've moved this to draftspace for you (see notice below). But I do want to be clear that I agree that @Timtrent and @TechnoSquirrel69 are absolutely right to call this deeply, deeply promotional. Please see WP:YESPROMO. You can keep working on it in draft space, and you can resubmit it once you've fixed it up - but we're talking major changes. -- asilvering (talk) 00:09, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- I've done all the entries myself. I have not shared access to my Sandbox. What I did do is have my staff draft portions of the bio in MS Word so I could easily cut-and-paste tape in. GaylaKH (talk) 00:12, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Your staff will flatter you. They want continuity of employment, promotion, and pay rises. Discard all their work and all your own. Find excellent references and, if you really want to, create the draft from what the references say, but in your own words.
- If you have a desire for an article about yourself then you are not the one to write it. If your staff do so then they must declare under WP:PAID.
- An article on you will not do you any good in business. You have that on your corporate web site anyway. If you have done anything questionable in your life which is notable it will appear in the article and do you the harm it did when you did it all over again. Wikipedia is the gift which keeps on giving in that regard. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 08:54, 15 November 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Gayla Kraetsch Hartsough, from its old location at User:GaylaKH/sandbox. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. asilvering (talk) 00:07, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for moving the entry to DRAFT status. Much appreciated. GaylaKH (talk) 00:15, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- No problem. But please do also take Timtrent's suggestions seriously. We have WP:BLPN, where you can go if you have an article on yourself and it's started to accrue defamatory claims of some sort - it's not like we'll let people use your Wikipedia article to harass you. But if you've done something that ended up in the news and you'd rather everyone just forgot it... Wikipedia sure won't. Better to stick to a personal website, in my opinion. -- asilvering (talk) 16:40, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- I have taken all of the feedback to heart and appreciate your taking the time to provide this additional guidance. I'll check out WP:BLPN. You have a great day! GaylaKH (talk) 17:13, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
