- I do not get why you guys rejected the article; the subject is from a country that barely covered individuals of this sort, either via the Internet or otherwise. Plus, the above subject died before the internet existed in our country. I suggest a review but, even more importantly, advice on how to move forward. Unlike the US, where you have unlimited sourcing, where I come from, and the subject, it is a little harder to find, let alone documentation on the person. Gauremdee (talk) 18:54, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- Unfortunately this affects many countries or groups, unfortunately what you are asking is if anyone can write unsourced articles about anyone in certain countries etc where sourcing is difficult. If not from sources where did the information come from? Do you have an undisclosed Wikipedia:Conflict of interest? Also Wikipedia has a policy on Wikipedia:No original research. Also many articles are about pre internet subjects - using books, newspapers, magazines and journals etc. KylieTastic (talk) 19:01, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- Alright, then. I have added more citations to improve my chances of a new review. I did not realise how much COI was examined on Wikipedia. I understand the decision now, as I am the son of the deceased, and this could be problematic for Wikipedia. Gauremdee (talk) 19:09, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- The reason why editing with a COI is discouraged is because people find it very hard to write a neutral article. For instance you have lots of 'puff' words: prominent, significantly, pivotal, crucial, etc. Encyclopedic content need to be written in a very neutral tone unless such words are widely used in reliable sources. For info see another policy Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. If you can find enough sources to show they are notable, the rest of the unsourced claims would still need to be strip down. Finding sources is always the hard part for some subjects, many of my articles require many hours looking through newspaper sources or trying to access books I know they are mentioned in. Good luck. - So even if i rewrite it without embelishment it still wont go through is what I am gathering so far. Gauremdee (talk) 19:56, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

- I did a quick search of newspapers.com and got 250 hits for "Sammy Mdee" however a brief scan of the first couple of pages are just mentions or quotes. KylieTastic (talk) 19:06, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

Conflict of Interest
[edit]Hello, Gauremdee. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Ktkvtsh (talk) 20:23, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
