[edit]Karl Reuschle moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Karl Reuschle, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Disambiguation link notification for November 8
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Shigeru Iitaka, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chiba. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

[edit]unsolved/solved problems
[edit]I don't know the answer to your questions, but I suggest that you ask it at Wikipedia:Reference desk/Mathematics - a lot more people will see it there and there are some very knowledgeable people there - you are likely to get an answer there. I'll check it out, cheers! GalacticShoe (talk) 23:11, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

Formulas for modular congruences
[edit]A formula such as "" becomes more readable, especially when used inline, if you use the \pmod
operator. Then you get "" To reduce the (for inline use) excessive blank space, which IMO hampers readability, you can use \!\!\!\pmod
to get "" --Lambiam 10:02, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for letting me know, I'll edit the Reference Desk comments to improve legibility. GalacticShoe (talk) 13:22, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Stop that right now!
[edit]Hi, Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but my academic contact has emailed me to say that the lh text doesn't in fact relate to the image with the ring, which is what I was beginning to suspect myself. He also answered my final questions - eg is the Getty MS online? I quote his email:
"You don't need to transcribe the text on that page, just look it up in the edition on-line (https://dtm.bbaw.de/bilder/christherrechronik-teilausgabe.pdf). This is Christherre 12292-12309 and 12310-12327, which you will find on page 174, though of course the spelling and the occasional word is different in the manuscript from the edition."
My ancient browser is acting up and won't finish any downloads, so I haven't been able to have a look yet. I shall be talking with him tomorrow, and will keep you updated. MinorProphet (talk) 20:17, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
- @MinorProphet Many thanks for the text, and I'm not too surprised that the text doesn't match either. Despite the presence of the transcription, I will actually continue to modify the one I have written now that I have a sense of what it should 'canonically' be. Translation efforts should hopefully be easier too now that I have a solid text to base it off of. GalacticShoe (talk) 17:51, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
- To avoid cluttering up your talk page, see Draft on mine. Thoughts? I could leave out the bulleted section about GD's transcription and his offer of translation, if you would like to quietly continue with your versions. He said he would forward his transcription, which I could let you have for comparison. Feel free to edit. - The draft looks good to me, and I have no qualms on inclusion of GD's transcription and translation (in fact, I would love to have my probably largely-error filled transcription be rendered obsolete.) I will include one last edit to my transcription with the caveat that it is corrected based on the Christherre-Chronik PDF, however. GalacticShoe (talk) 19:44, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

- Here's the transcription from GD. He's happy for it to appear on the Commons page and/or the thread. If you wanted to post it there, could you quote the whole thing including the full source reference at the top, he was quite insistent on that. I'm going to update the description on Commons with it as well. I've taken him up on his kind offer of making the translation as well. MinorProphet (talk) 12:07, 18 February 2024 (UTC)

- GD has sent a kindly and swiftly sent a "quick and dirty" translation as well. See my talk. MinorProphet (talk) 22:02, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late response, and thank you for posting the transcription and translation. I'm glad to see that transcription-wise I wasn't too far off :D GalacticShoe (talk) 18:48, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
