Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Fruitville Public Library, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 21:10, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, FlaLibrarian. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Fruitville Public Library".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. » Shadowowl | talk 11:37, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Martinevans123 I know it's sort of late to respond to this, but I am finally figuring out how to properly edit. Thanks for trying to help me improve. FlaLibrarian (talk) 16:56, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello FlaLibrarian, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Allosaurus have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 17:17, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there FlaLibrarian! I have noticed that you like to work on articles relating to Florida along with it's history and so do I as well. You do a really good job at this which I appreciate. There is a few pages I thought you might like to contribute to. One of them is East Florida (which I'm currently working on) and the page itself helps give a bit of context into the Patriot War. Another page I like working on and you might enjoy as well is the page of Spessard Holland. He was a Governor and later US Senator who represented Florida. During his career he did a variety of notable things. While serving as a US Senator he would introduce the 24th Amendment to the US Constitution and helped in the creation of the Everglades National Park during his career.

Sincerely, Skim127 (talk) 15:15, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Skim127. I have noticed your great work as well and thank you for the words of appreciation. Also thank you for calling my attention to some of these other articles. I'd be happy to take a look and see if there is anything I can contribute. I am a librarian so I have great access to resources except for time, which has been increasingly hard to find lately. FlaLibrarian (talk) 19:46, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think your last edit on Spessard Holland regarding his feelings toward the poll tax was a good edit. I don't think you were changing the meaning of it at all. I think it made it a bit simpler to understand. Skim127 (talk) 17:35, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Tiger

[edit]

Hi, i'm working on Draft:Tom Tiger and the 1907 'uprising', and noticed this edit. Wondering if you had anything more beyond Covington's article, maybe from J. O. Parish Battling the Seminoles? I'd like to get this into the biography if possible. fiveby(zero) 14:16, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, unfortunately, I do not have Battling the Seminoles in my personal library but I can do some digging in the public libraries I have access to when I have time.
In the meantime, I haven't read the article but there is a tiny (2 page) article about Thlocklo Tustenuggee in the Florida Historical Quarterly that is open to public access through the State Universities of Florida. Here is the link to that full publication, with the article in question staring at page 216. And here is another, more recent, article from the same publication that mentions Tiger Tail:FHQ Vol. 82(3). To be honest, I am unsure of how I made that connection between Tom Tiger and "a warrior named Tiger." I presumably read it somewhere but I should have left a better citation.
As previously mentioned, I will do some more digging when time allows and see if I can retrace my steps for that connection. Sorry I can't help more at the moment! FlaLibrarian (talk) 03:05, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Appreciate the help, and not in any hurry at all. There's already an article for Thlocklo Tustenuggee (Tiger Tail). Thlocklo Tustenuggee (Tom Tiger) died in 1906. He was probably with Chipoco during the war but i don't know how old he would have been, and there was also Old Tiger his father and Tiger Tustenuggee (Big Tiger?) his brother. Fun stuff but very hard to track down anything about Tom during the Third Seminole War. fiveby(zero) 13:22, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Finally circling back to this and boy you weren't kidding about the difficulty in tracking information down due to the number of Toms and Tigers. Thank you for being patient with me with my first attempt at "helping" as I obviously had the wrong person. I am now reading through "A Seminole Legend: The Life of Betty Mae Tiger Jumper" and it appears that Captain Tom Tiger's brother was Young Tiger, a medicine man who was killed at the Jim Jumper massacre. It also appears that Tom Tiger was grandfather of Betty Mae As soon as I can confirm, I will add it to the draft. FlaLibrarian (talk) 00:01, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
