I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

2007 Pan American Games medal count

You have reverted me twice now without an edit summary, and have not responded to comments I've left on the talk page. I know you've been a big contributor to the page, but that does not give you sole rights to what does and doesn't go there. Could you please give me a good and compelling reason for keeping the non-medalists on the page, because otherwise, I will have to seek an alternate way to get my desired changes put onto the page, which I would certainly not like doing, as I am quite busy myself. _└^Jared_┘^┌_t^┐ 17:49, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's hardly an explanation. I guess I would be fine with including the no medal winning nations in the big table at top, but certainly not in the separated tables below. Don't you think that having everything more compact would look better?

Please keep in mind that editors are supposed to work off each other's edits. If you absolutely abhor my changes for a good reason, by all means change it to a way that might suit both of us, and others, too. I have looked at the editing history of the above article, and the talkpage there and here and at User:Jared. I would make the following points; Wikipedia is a collabrative project, and anybody can edit. This means that no one person has the final say in how content should be presented, including the originator, and that consensus should be reached. By choosing to edit the English language version of Wikipedia means you have agreed to edit by the rules, policies and guidelines of the English language Wikipedia. A lack of communication skills in the endemic language does not allow you to disregard or not respond to the concerns of other editors, especially if you continue to edit in the manner which gave rise to the concerns.

Since there were initially two editors I would suggest that both you and User:Jared seek the opinion of a third party and attempt to form a consensus between the three of you. I note a third editor has now contributed to the article, so you might consider requesting their assistance. Please stop reverting my changes on this page. There has been consensus for the changes, and I even admitted that there was not consensus for others that I did not make. Also, please use edit summaries. If you still have problems with the layout of the page, I suggest you go to Wikipedia:Requests for comment and request that the page be reviewed. Thanks for uploading Image:Pan_2007_Volleyball.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. Fair use rationale

In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template.
