RAMEL CARTER
I hope all is well with you.
My name is Chantal Borgella of C. Borgella Public Relations. I represent Jay-Z's nephew Ramel Carter.
You deleted my page because you said it was plagiarized from his Myspace page. I took down the article and another editor is deleting my page. This is becoming VERY VERY frustrating.
How do I get it approved?
Chantal9186 (talk) 08:37, 3 October 2009 (UTC) October 3, 2009
- Hi Chantal. There are several issues with the article. First of all, material that has been published on a website like MySpace is copyrighted and cannot just be copied. I can see that you have received several warnings regarding this, and it is a very serious issue. Note that even if you are the holder of the copyright, there is a procedure to go through, outlined in "Copyright owners who submitted their own work to Wikipedia". In the present case it probably wouldn't matter though, because the article is such a blatant advertisement. It's totally subjective, loaded with peacock words, and contains no references to reliable sources, which could demonstrate that the person in question is notable enough to merit inclusion in Wikipedia. This place is not meant for promotion. Finally, there is a problem with you as the PR person for Carter writing the article. You have a conflict of interest which makes it unrealistic to assume that you will be able to write an objective article about him.
- Just for the record, since I'm not an administrator I cannot delete articles, only nominate them for deletion. An administrator makes the final call. Favonian (talk) 09:22, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion contested: List of the places that The Simpsons air
Hello Favonian, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I contested the speedy deletion of List of the places that The Simpsons air - a page you tagged - because: A7 does not apply to television shows and especially not to a notable series such as The Simpsons. Use PROD/AfD instead. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Theleftorium 09:14, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- No problemo! as Bart would say. Actually, I didn't tag it, just reinstated a tag which the author had removed—a bad habit of his. Favonian (talk) 09:17, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, this message wasn't supposed to go to you (stupid bot!). Sorry about that. :) Theleftorium 09:18, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Felipe Massa
You are so stupid, aren't you? I just put a thing that is true as Ferrari's Felipe Massa is injured, or is just his imagination? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.60.173.132 (talk) 14:09, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- 1) Mind your language. 2) Your changes to the article on Felipe Massa were reverted by another editor. 3) In view of this and your history of disruptive editing I reverted your changes to Ferrari Grand Prix results, which were unsourced and had no edit summary. Unless you learn to comply with some basic rules for editing, this sort of thing is bound to happen to you quite often. Favonian (talk) 15:22, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Adrian Collier listing this time is legitimate
The speedy deletion call for Adrian Collier is not legitimate under WP:BIO because Collier competed in canoeing for Great Britain at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. I have noted this in the article's talk page. I was also unaware this article had been deleted previously prior to me editing it. Chris (talk) 21:28, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm way ahead of you :) The speedy deletion nomination has been retracted. Sorry for the confusion. Favonian (talk) 21:29, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you. You had me really freaked out on this. Chris (talk) 21:30, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
You originally placed a prod on this page on the 29th. It was removed without justification and replaced by me several days later. In the intervening time, the article has greatly improved. At the major contributor's request, I'm willing to remove the prod and see how it develops, but I don't want to move ahead with that without your opinion. Thoughts? --King Öomie 15:54, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for heads-up! You are right about the improvements, and I see no reason why the article should be deleted now. Cheers, Favonian (talk) 15:57, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, cool. I've removed the prod. --King Öomie 16:24, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
re: Jd's talk page
Hi there, I've just reverted to that revision, I kinda presumed that the middle ip account had been reverting the one just before, but I should have looked closer. BTW, are you using Twinkle? 'Cause that might be what caused the error. - Kingpin13 (talk) 07:43, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, it's twinkle. The error occurs infrequently, but it's quite annoying. Favonian (talk) 07:44, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, you might want to report it to Wikipedia talk:Twinkle/Bugs. Best, - Kingpin13 (talk) 07:47, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
Regional Information Center
Are you trying to get Regional Information Center deleted? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:06, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, the author blanked it, so I gave it a G7. On the other hand, he has now created Regional Information Center for Science and Technology(RICeST) with the same contents, so maybe a redirect is in order. Favonian (talk) 11:08, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I went and did it. There is a rather confused set of redirects, and the present name probably isn't in accordance with the naming conventions, but it cannot be resolved without admin intervention. Favonian (talk) 11:15, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the encouragement. I've left a note at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Opera#Help! to try and round up some help with User:Squillovoce's other recent creations. Hopefully they won't suffer a similar fate. You may also want to add your thoughts to mine at User talk:MZMcBride#Rita Orlandi-Malaspina.Singingdaisies (talk) 11:18, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- Glad to come across a Wikipedian who is not guided solely by rules and regulations! One thing we should try to locate is an "admissible" source for her year of birth. According to this mailing list contribution it's 1937, but so far I have not been able to find better reference. Favonian (talk) 11:23, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- I found a book that gives the year and place (1937 Bologna), although not the exact day and month.Singingdaisies (talk) 12:02, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Buddy Lewis (Comedy) and Buddy Lewis (comedian, actor, writer)
Regarding the articles created for Buddy Lewis comedian.
I am so confused by this, and am so sorry to cause problems. We're trying to clarify the 4 different Buddy Lewis's. One is in baseball born 1916 - it is his page that comes up when you type in "Buddy Lewis" . Another is the famous band leader and musician. The third, by coincidence, also born in 1916 was also a comedian, but died in 1986. We are continually challenged with differentiating the two comedians, in particular. Your site has many references to the Buddy Lewis (Born 4-14-63) I am referring to. Some of the references say Buddy Lewis. Some say Roland 'Buddy' Lewis. Any suggestions you have to help clarify this is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Lava.
Lavabai (talk) 21:42, 11 October 2009 (UTC))
- Hi Lava. Don't worry about the "confusion". If this new, living and breathing Buddy Lewis is notable enough to merit an article, we'll sort out the naming problem for the article. That being said, there are some problems with your article(s). First of all: one is enough. Second, the main obstacle is demonstrating using reliable sources that the person in question is notable. In other words: find some references for news sites or the like (not Facebook, YouTube or blogs) and reference them in the article. To give him the benefit of the doubt, I'll remove the nomination for speedy deletion and redirect one article to the other. Then we can try to get the article in shape. Venn Diagram Link Removal
Hello Favonian,
I put a link of drawing Area-Proportional Venn Digram(http://www.bioinfoman.com/free/bxarrays/venndiagram.php) in the External Link section on this page(http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Venn_diagram#External_links) and it was removed by you. I think this is a very useful link to the academic researchers who are looking for the way to draw Area-Proportional Venn Diagram, as this is the ONLY tools to draw CORRECT Area-Proportional Venn Diagram today.
Would you mind to add it back? Since this link is not a promotional, ad or anything. It just serves the same purposes as the other links in the External Links section.
Thank you.
--Derrick —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.92.92.175 (talk) 20:20, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Derrick. I admit that it's a borderline case, but from your site's main page it's clearly commercial and therefore I maintain that the link doesn't belong in the article. From the revision histories of this article and Data extraction it looks like other editors agree with me. Favonian (talk) 21:19, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Hi Favonian, Thanks for your reply. However I don't agree with your point. The tools I put on Wiki is NOT commercial and it is FREE of CHARGE. In fact, it does not related to the main sites at all. This link serves the same purpose as the other links on the pages, such as http://www.cs.kent.ac.uk/people/staff/pjr/EulerVennCircles/EulerVennApplet.html.
The whole purpose I put this link on Wiki because: 1. I create a tool to draw area-proportional Venn Diagram. I've found many tools on the web but NONE of them can do it. 2. Many academic researchers demand this tool. 3. Many people look for tools to draw area-proportional Venn Diagram on Wiki.
Given that my tool is free and non-commercial, and other similar tools are already on Wiki. I don't see any reason why you allow other links on Wiki(http://www.cs.kent.ac.uk/people/staff/pjr/EulerVennCircles/EulerVennApplet.html) but not my link.
Would you mind to revise your decision? Thanks!
--Derrick —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.92.92.175 (talk) 18:58, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Even though this specific tool is free, the link still serves as an indirect advertisement for a commercial site, and I am therefore of the opinion that it is not acceptable. I would suggest that you raise the issue on the article's talk page to get a second(+) opinion. Regarding the existence of other links a) the University of Kent site is non-commercial, and b) Wikipedia does not accept the argument that other stuff exists. - No problem—with the spelling I mean. Regarding your three articles, however, there's a big problem with writing about yourself and the companies with which you are involved. This has been pointed out in the links added to your talk page. My advice is that you wait for somebody else to write about these subjects. Favonian (talk) 21:25, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

About the article "Requiem pour un poisson". From Hugh212
Hello Favonian, From what I heard, yes, the book should be published in English but I don't know when. In between, I am trying to do a redirect to the page in French but it is true that I have troubles... How can I do the bridge? Thanks for your help. - Ecstatic :) In fact, two of your edits have not been reverted, but you should probably try to understand why the others were. Favonian (talk) 11:33, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Uhh yeah those were vandalism (the ones you reverted). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mooseman33 (talk • contribs) 11:59, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for the redirect on the page formerly known as Ghair Muqallid, you beat me to it. Do you feel that the user responsible is partaking in vandalism? It seems like it is heading in that direction to me... although it also seems this user may be an ambitious new user... What do you think? Supertouch (talk) 12:51, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hard to tell. My guess is that he is "overly enthusiastic" (to avoid using an uglier word) when it comes to his religion. He has been warned several times, though, so if he does something similar again, maybe a short block to give him pause for thought will be appropriate. Favonian (talk) 12:56, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Isle of Axholme
Hi Favonian You messaged me to inform removing my site link to Sweyn Forkbeard. Perhaps you rolled back all my newbie edits today? After the automated spam warning I read the guidelines and considered my link below
- Axholme Ancestry Linking People and Places with your Past
to be a useful resource for people interested in this location and its people. Can I request that it at least be reinstated for the Isle of Axholme ? Thanks and regards Adrian Oates Adrianoates (talk) 10:15, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I did revert all your link additions. As far as I'm concerned you can add the link to Isle of Axholme where it may be of some direct relevance, but there is always the possibility that another editor will disagree. Favonian (talk) 10:29, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for a prompt reply, I just needed that bit of encouragement to start participating. Regards Adrian Adrianoates (talk) 10:35, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

- Ye gads! Have you seen this? Favonian (talk) 12:58, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- A prime example where verboseness isn't a good thing, haha. He posted a the same stuff on another user's talk page, which I reverted. Then he just switched out that user's name for mine and started posting it on my talk page. Its strange, before the initial edit I reverted, he hadn't edited in a week or so. How flimsy can a blog that actually cites an interview participated in by the homophobe be? Dallin has stated numerous times how he felt about mormonism in that annotated interview. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.117.239.16 (talk) 18:08, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Edit War?
Oscar Wilde was British. There was no Irish nation until 1922. Ireland was part of the United Kingdom. How the hell am I wrong in expressing what is pure fact? 194.125.97.56 (talk) 23:19, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- The subject has been discussed quite a bit on the article's talk page, which you should have a look at. Instead of reverting several editors' corrections you should contribute to the debate there. Oh, and besides: you kept writing "English", not "British". Favonian (talk) 23:23, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Ah yes, I realise what you mean. I should have realised the difference between the two. My mistake. I will take a look at that debate now.

what are you talking about?? it is you who are wrong the metropolitan area of Aarhus is not 303.000 inhabitants thats the city munipalcity, the inner urban area has 239.000 on 91km2 and the metropolitan area has 1.2 mio on 9.997 km2 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.62.143.51 (talk) 22:12, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

- To arrive at that figure they must have included a sizable portion of Eastern Jutland in the "Greater Aarhus area", which would also rhyme with the area of nearly 10,000 km2. Since this is not the conventional definition of the "greater X area", please state explicitly what it covers if you insist on including these extravagant numbers. Favonian (talk) 22:32, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
extravagant numbers ??? many metropoitan areas in the world is the same size in km2 and whit the same inhabitants number, it is not up to you or me to deside, if the City say it is soo IT IS SOO who knows most about it the city of Aarhus or you?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.62.143.51 (talk) 22:48, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, I don't doubt that there are that many people living in an area that big, but calling it the "Greater Aarhus area" means that they have included everything along the E45 from Kolding to Randers, and that is not a contiguous urban area. To repeat, feel free to include the numbers, but specify what they actually cover. Favonian (talk) 22:53, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
the link in wikipedia goes to East jutland metropolitan area and there you can see what it cowers —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.62.143.51 (talk) 23:04, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Beg to differ. The link regarding the population figures goes to List of urban areas in Denmark by population, which mentions a considerably smaller number. Below the paragraph about numbers it says that "Aarhus is the main and biggest city in the East Jutland metropolitan area", which is of course quite correct, but does not in my opinion justify lumping the entire region into the greater Aarhus area. In other words: it requires a bit of editing of that paragraph to get the proper connection between numbers and what they actually cover. Enough from me this evening. Reverting on The Legend of T
Please note that a user blanking a page they've created is not vandalism. Generally, that's interpreted as a request for G7 speedy deletion. Tag it as such and an admin will delete (of course, if the creator keeps reverting, talk to an admin in person). Thank you! Cheers, Master of Puppets 22:50, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm quite aware of this rule, having nominated a fair number of blanked pages for deletion per G7, and I'm therefore surprised that I should have made that mistake on the article in question. As it has meanwhile gone the way of the dodo, I guess I'll take your word for it and apologize. Getting kind of late in my timezone. Favonian (talk) 22:55, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- My mistake, I just checked through all the edits and you were reverting properly (they were clearing the speedy). It looked like the user was just clearing the page and being reverted before. My apologies! I was just afraid the editor was trying to G7 and three other editors were reverting that, but I'm in the wrong. Apologies, Master of Puppets 23:07, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- As I noted at WP:AIV, this edit to Legend (not Legend of T) is rather malicious. Favonian (talk) 23:02, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
