I just cleaned it up a bit and added data from the articles selected by the previous writers.

Congratulations

[edit]

Congratulations, on being back on Wikipedia. So sorry that China Banned Wikipedia, Also wishing you a happy Al-Quds Day. Your names was listed in the Bahai Wikipedians section.--Seadog.M.S 13:15, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AFD's

[edit]

Yea, if the obvious outcome is going to be "Keep" or "Speedy Keep" then yes, you may close it. Likewise, if an article was speedy deleted and the AFD was never closed, you may close it as a speedy deletion too :) semper fiMoe 14:40, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re:Do you want me to nominate you for an adminship?

[edit]

What's the worse that can happen I always say. Sure, Im accept your nomination. :) semper fiMoe 04:58, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Exir, if you do fill out an RFA, it might take me a while to accept the nomination and answer the questions because I'm going offline (and to sleep) now. Hopefully I'll be back in a few hours, until then semper fiMoe 05:16, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some friends that may co-nom me

[edit]

I have more, but they are either inactive or they are on wikibreak :)

We only need a few more, but it's alright as it is even if no one added anymore :) semper fiMoe 13:31, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your support in my RfA. Unfortunately consensus was not reached, and the nomination was not successful. However, please rest assured that I am still in support of the Wikipedia project, and will continue to contribute without interruption. I would also like to thank you again for your comments, especially your story about your Chinese background, which I found very touching. Best wishes! --Elonka 16:35, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks

[edit]
Please accept my thanks for your support in my successful RfA, which I was gratified to learn passed without opposition on October 25, 2006. I am looking forward to serving as an administrator and hope that I prove worthy of your trust. With my best wishes, --MCB 01:08, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Change

[edit]

Sorry for this unexpected announcement, but I have decided not to go for adminship right now. I have (in the past) promised myself that I would wait until 2007 or maybe even later to get myself nominated, but I guess in all the thoughts swirling in my head around the time of my birthday, I must have forgotten this. I am very sorry to do this to you Exir, but I can't accept your nomination right now :( Even if this nomination was just for the sake of running, I would want to wait until I thought I was absolutely sure I was going to make admin. Sorry again. semper fiMoe 03:24, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for supporting my RfA

re:RFA

A good place to let people know your input on a situation is at Noticeboards like WP:AN and WP:ANI where discussion on various issues occur every day. If your looking for maintainence, I can't really help you, you sorta half to figure out where the maintainence is needed. Try special pages :) semper fiMoe 21:18, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation Case

[edit]

Hello, Exir! I would be happy to provide assistance on that case, although I can't promise that I can offer my full attention due to taking on another case already. I will, though, do my best if you need help and step in whenever needed, if the mediation does proceed. By the way, just a general tip: there is not such thing as a "secret" Wikipedia page. No matter how hard you try to keep a page hidden and only distribute the page's location by email, people will find it - it's on RC, your contributions, etc. If a page is on Wikipedia (especially mediation), always assume that it will be public. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 02:20, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I was just scrolling thru the backlog of AfD debates, and noticed you closed this debate as "no clear consensus". Wikipedia's deletion procedure regarding non-admins closing AfD discussions specifically prohibits non-admins closing these type of results. You probably didn't realise that there were these restrictions, which is fine - I didn't, originally (I made a similar close, somewhere), and was told to have a quick read of it. This isn't a warning, or anything - just a heads-up to help you stay of out of trouble in the future. Although, I must say, you did get the decision right :). Cheers, Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 06:09, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, debates must have run a minimum of 5 days for them to be closed by a non-admin. This is applicable for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Power paper, which you just closed. The best way to see debates that are 5 days old are (for today's 5-day-old-debates) Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2006 October 24. Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 06:19, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I am so stupid...I dunno how I managed to draw the conclusion, but I thought you had closed it on the same day it was opened. Sorry again - I guess I'm half-asleep. Keep up the good closing! (PS: The message I struck is still handy to know, even if it wasn't applicable in that case) Sorry, Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 06:23, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I re-opened the case. I'm not saying your decision was wrong, but it must be closed by an admin per Wikipedia:Deletion process#Non-administrators closing discussions. Only two of the keep recommendations in the discussion are by established Wikipedians, and only one of these two actually states something against the deletion. If you look at the IP addresses, they are 84.255.250.52, 84.66.123.255, 81.154.130.6 and 81.129.117.102. Same person? Prolog 09:56, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Newbie, how to report abuse?

[edit]

On Symbolic interactionism, IP-address 202.134.34.194 had done some minor vandalism again at 01:17, 30 October 2006. Looking at his talk page, I can see that he's been banned a couple of times. How do one report vandalism from an IP-address so it will be banned again?

Admin Coaching

[edit]

Hey Exir!

It looks like we'll be working together for a while. I've been assigned as your admin coach, along with user:Nishkid64. Would you like to start out by creating a sub-page, such as user:Exir Kamalabadi/Admin coaching (or something like that)? I've started out by reading your userpage, as I think it's important to know users I see regularly. I can't wait to get started. :) Best wishes, Firsfron of Ronchester 23:19, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Privacy of mediation

[edit]

Hello. On the Northern Ireland mediation, I noticed you suggested a "secret wikipage" as a method of private mediation. Unfortunately, that would still show up on the contributions of you and the other editors... unless you all used different usernames. Even so, if trust is an issue for any of the parties, if the location was revealed, all of the evidence would be right there. You could theoretically try encryption, but that would probably be less convenient than email, and could still be a problem if trust among the parties is an issue, in case the key were leaked.

But anyways, best of luck!

Armedblowfish (talk|mail) 21:40, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hello,

the comments made my AMG's Mr Jurek are far more controversial (and 9 times out of ten, meaningless) than my modification. Linking in directly to AMG adds little to the wiki content.

November Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Evan Parker,

I'll try to remove the info again, Jurek dos not know what he is talking about 'playing in all three registers' is utter nonsense. Parker goes beyond THE register of the instrument.

Thanks

Image problems: Dextroamphetamine

[edit]

Hi! Again, I have found some problems that I do not know how to fix. In the article about Dextroamphetamine there is supposed to be a picture of the chemical structure: File:(S)-(+)-amphetamine-2D-skeletal.png but it doesn't work. The big picture on http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5d/%28S%29-%28%2B%29-amphetamine-2D-skeletal.png exists. How can one make a new downscaled picture of it?

Two weeks ago I couldn't even spell administratur and now I are one (in no small part thanks to your support). Now that I checked out those new buttons I realize that I can unleash mutant monsters on unsuspecting articles or summon batteries of laser guns in their defense. The move button has now acquired special powers, and there's even a feature to roll back time. With such awesome new powers at my fingertips I will try to tread lightly to avoid causing irreversible damage and getting into any wheel wars. Thanks again and let me know whenever I can be of use.
