Desysoped?

[edit]

If I may ask, why did you desysop yourself? You were one of the best admins around. Can we still count on you for closing DRVs that don't require the sysop bit? Owen× 15:15, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@OwenX: hi mate, thanks for the kind message. Pretty much for the reasons I touch on here. All things being equal I should be back next year at some point! Cheers, Daniel (talk) 19:03, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looking forward to your return. Have a great time at the beach! Owen× 20:23, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Daniel,
I was really disappointed to see in the Admin's Newsletter that you were no longer an administrator. We really rely on your level-headedness in AFDLand and you were very prolific in your discussion closures. But I was just browsing the ARBCOM candidates' list, saw your entry where you state this is a temporary situation so this really a message saying "I'm sad, no, never mind, I'm glad!" I think it's good to take a break when real-life activites are adding a lot os stress to your life but I welcome your return, whenever that happens. Liz Read! Hi Liz, thanks for the message. Yes, only temporary - I will admit I was feeling a little burned out overall, but the main driving factor was my relative unavailability until mid-January due to travel & Australian summer (it is wedding season down here...). I look forward to picking up the tools again once I'm back on board 100%! Cheers, Daniel (talk) 01:11, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder to participate in Wikipedia research

[edit]

Hello,

I recently invited you to take a survey about administration on Wikipedia. If you haven’t yet had a chance, there is still time to participate– we’d truly appreciate your feedback. The survey is anonymous and should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement.

Take the survey here.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

Question for article

[edit]

Hey Daniel,

my name is Ben Dreyfuss. I’m a journalist. I’m writing an article about Wikipedia and for the lede I’m mentioning this discussion that you and some other editors had earlier this year that led to deleting the pages about me and my sister. The article isn’t me whining about how I don’t have a page but it’s the hook for a different topic relating to Wikipedia editing culture. I was hoping I might be able to ask you some questions about the general process you guys use for this stuff. Nothing “gotcha” or anything. But I don’t know any Wikipedia editors and s that deletion page was just brought to my attention I thought you’d be a good person to reach out to. My email is bendreyfuss at gmail dot com if you’re open to chatting with me!

Hi Ben, thanks for reaching out. All press enquiries need to go through Wikipedia:Contact us/Press and partnerships first. If they give the green light, I'm happy to assist. Cheers, Daniel (talk) 08:28, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
