Carpimaps talk to me! 14:28, 8 June 2023 (UTC)Giving warnings before reporting to AIV
[edit]Please warn users before reporting them to WP:AIV, as said in the 3rd point of the "Important! Please remember the following:" section, even if the article they vandalised is an article you created. Given the comments you made at User talk:FeanorStar7, are you using an extensions, such as RedWarn? If you are, the same rules apply, and, if anything, be more careful, given that extensions like RedWarn let you report users to AIV in a few clicks. Thanks, Sneezless (talk) (contribs) 16:32, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry for the multiple edits, just realised how patronising this sounded afterwards. Anyway, I can understand being annoyed that someone vandalised an article you submitted through Articles for creation, but the rules about warnings are consistent across the site, with the exception of intense vandalism, where an immediate final warning can be used. Since I'm bad at explanations, I'd suggest you look through this page, which lists user notices, including warning. I'd appreciate it if you kept Wikipedia's warning policies in mind in future. Once again, thanks, Sneezless (talk) (contribs) 16:41, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Sneezless. Thanks! I have never dealt with vandalism up until this point and was unsure of if IP pages counted as users. If they do, I will definitely keep this in mind. Elttaruuu (talk) 17:23, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Stop adding Category:Taylor Swift to apparently inappropriate articles. Meters (talk) 04:30, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- Each of those topics were significantly linked to Swift but okay Elttaruuu (talk) 04:34, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- Really? I think you need to follow your own advice [1]:

Meters (talk) 04:38, 30 June 2023 (UTC)- Super civil and kind of you, thanks for that Elttaruuu (talk) 04:38, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- I don’t have to be perfect at editing to contribute to Wikipedia.
- also why wouldn’t Jack Antonoff have a Taylor Swift category when he’s produced ten years worth of her music? Elttaruuu (talk) 04:46, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- Maybe that one's OK, but 9 days after posting your comment about needing to stay away from Taylor Swift you spammed almost 40 articles into Category:Taylor Swift. There's no need to add that cat to every article that mentions her name, and some of those articles have no apparent connection, such as Friendship bracelet and Easter egg (media). Meters (talk) 05:06, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to be much more sparing with the category additions. For example, Sony Music Publishing represents hundreds of notable artists, and we shouldn't put the label into every client's category. Categories are for the defining characteristics of an article's topic, and Swift doesn't define the label. Certes (talk) 08:02, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- I'm in complete agreement. I was concerned that I was getting too aggressive in cutting. Meters (talk) 08:38, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
