Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gibbs measure, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Free energy. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Microtones

[edit]

I don't know how to cite this, but it is easy to confirm yourself. If you try playing a midi version of the song (midi has no microtones), and playing the original at the same time, it is easily heard to be out of tune. Furthermore, multiple reddit posts confirm this

https://www.reddit.com/r/Undertale/comments/40q46b/why_is_asgore_out_of_tune/?

The same thing is also noticed by a professional music composer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPx6t-o8xko

There do not seem to be explicit studies or disclosures from the author (Toby Fox) but this is easily verifiable.

Watched the video. Not convinced the tune is microtonal. Seems like the usual 12-note scale in a non A440 pitch standard. Look at the 4:38 timestamp: the presenter adjusts the A4 pitch to 450 Hz and has no problem matching the pitches in the tune for the rest of the video. Eigenbra (talk) 01:48, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I do not see your point. If after changing the tuning, there are no problems with matching pitches, that means it was correct, and there was a quarter tone. Many DAW instruments only need one pitch to tune the instrument, like his piano plugin or LMMS instruments where you choose the "root" note. Because of this, he did not need to change every note, the program calculates all other pitches based on the root note (A4) frequency given.

Here, piano is detuned one quarter tone down:

It means none of the intervals are microtonal. Microtonality is about intervals, not pitches. I will not discuss this further. Use the article talk page if you still disagree. Eigenbra (talk) 21:34, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
