As a new user, you're probably unaware of Wikipedia's guideline regarding American vs. British spelling. Generally, there is no preference between which variant is used. However, when a subject has strong ties to one particular nation (such as Harry Potter has with Britain), that variant is used. Similarly, articles about, say, Star Wars, use American English.
