- Thank you for your kind and encouraging note. As a relative newcomer, it's good to get some positive feedback. Most of what I've been contributing is balancing the abundance of online resources with a few of the standard print sources -- organizational histories, biographies, and autobiographies. I hope to get a feel for how that goes over with fellow Wikipedians. So I was pleased to hear from you. Dwalls 17:01, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Harry Caudill
[edit]Hi, I'm a big Harry Caudill fan and reader too, and have visited his home county of Letcher, in East Kentucky. We have an international readership, hence the addition of the country, just for consistency's sake. If a publication were given as Chetumal, Quintana Roo, but no country, many people wouldn't know what country it was. If those books were published earlier, I think the earlier publication info should be given in the bibliography as well. That info should be easy to find on an online library catalog. Badagnani 22:11, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- OK, but I note that Wikipedia strongly suggests following the MLA Style Manual. Dwalls 03:17, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your great work on Guy Carawan! --Allen 23:25, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note, Allen. Let's work together to fill out the Carawans' career at Highlander. I had met Guy and Candie in the 1960s when I lived in eastern Kentucky and later in Lexington. I haven't seen them for the 25 years I've been in California, but I've followed their work. Glad to see also that you initiated the article on Evan Carawan. I'm sure it's helpful that you are closer to the scene there. Dwalls 03:17, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- Very nice job getting Heather to license that photo of Guy under Creative Commons! Sorry I haven't been helping out with the article; you're doing a fine job by yourself, though. --Allen 23:11, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for noticing, Allen. My third image uploaded; each one is an educational campaign on the Creative Commons License! (Others: Archie Green and Little Red Songbook). I have in mind two more paras on Carawans at Highlander, then I'm turning it over to you! I also added Video Ref section for two videos with lots of good info on the Carawans, as you no doubt know. Appalachia
[edit]I hadn't checked the history enough to even see that you had edited that etymology paragraph. Looking farther back now, I see the "conquerors" part got added a few weeks ago, after this edit. I'd never heard the idea that "Apalachee" wasn't the name of the tribe, at least as transcribed by the Spanish into the Latin alphabet. The "appellation" etymology recently added stuck me as pretty bizarre. Thanks for your edits. I sometimes think about working on the page more-- it could be improved in lots of ways-- but it's a bit daunting.. Pfly 22:19, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Peace Action
[edit]Feel free to remove the publications section for Peace Action. It wasn't originally authored by me. I think the section stems from someone who I went back and forth on edit reverts with (someone I suspected at the time to be directly involved with Peace Action) and the publications section is one of the things left over. If I recall right, the article probably still has a few other things that could be trimmed down or removed. Barkeep Chat | $ 14:04, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. The books on that list would probably be more appropriate in the article on the Peace Movement. Dwalls 15:53, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:SLATElogo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:SLATElogo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Wisdom89 (talk) 05:49, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for starting the article. It has been on my to-do list for some time. In fact, I have already started the article in a sandbox (User:Rockero/Bert Corona), so feel free to migrate any of that information if you want to. I have been too busy to get to it. Gracias, --Rockero (talk) 19:36, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Wow, you've done a great job with your draft article! I wish you had put it up before I got started. I just couldn't believe he didn't have a WP article, and I thought it was important to get one started. I'm rather busy too, but I'll give some thought to transferring sections of your work to my minimal start. You really ought to get the credit for it, however. Dwalls (talk) 21:03, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- I agree that Corona is far too important to not have a WP article about him. It was pure egotism and laziness that prevented me from posting what I had. Your getting started was just the swift kick in the you-know-what that I needed. Maybe I'll even finish the article now!
- Basically I just copied my article version in. I tried to keep what you wrote, and I think we should include the organizations he founded/was most closely associated with in the first paragraph, since it is all most people read anyway. And I still haven't gotten around to the last part of his life, so there is a lot of work to be done. Please feel free to restore anything I missed or make other adjustments you see fit.

Appalachian Music
[edit]On Monday, March 9, 2009, I created the article Appalachian music after reading the WikiProject Appalachia page. Someone attempted to restore the redirect to Old-time music, telling me that there was very little information. I undid that edit. However, they were correct regarding the amount of information in the article. Thus, I have a proposal: if we can, we can work together to improve and expand the Appalachian music article. If you know anyone who can help out with the article, please let them know. If you are interested in assisting, have questions, want to talk, etc., feel free to put something on my talk page.

Hi, Thanks for rewriting part of the David Epston article. I'm very glad you did because as I not-native speaker, this is the most difficult part for me. Now I wonder if you could give me a hand with some more editorial work like this in other sociology relate biographical article I started or improved, see here.
Until last week I have made the mistakes in the series of biographical articles not using quotation marks right or rewriting the original source used. I am trying to working hard in isolating and eventually solving these problems and would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks again. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 01:13, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

- Yes thank you very much. Indeed I made a serious error of judgements, and I continued in a series of articles. I turned to you also because of you being a retired sociologist, and I started or expanded multiple biographical articles about sociologists in the field of systems science, see here. I was thinking about articles like Kenneth D. Bailey (sociologist), Walter F. Buckley, C. West Churchman... Dealing with vandalism
[edit]Hello, please be careful when undoing vandalism on Wikipedia. At Edgar Nixon, you only undid a fraction of the recent vandalism to that article. When an article has recently been vandalized, it is better to check the page history and revert the article back to the last good version rather than trying to undo each vandalism edit individually. If you like I can give you the rollback right to make vandalism reversion easier. It should only be used on obvious vandalism, but you seem to have more than enough experience to judge when its use would be appropriate. Graham87 15:07, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Judy K. Sakaki. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Judy K. Sakaki – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

Invitation to Local Wikimania Event in San Francisco this Friday
[edit]Hi!
Wikimania is happening and hopefully you're enjoying the sessions. While it's fairly last minute, you're warmly invited to participate in the local Wikimania-themed meetup in the Wikimedia Foundation office this Friday (tomorrow!). You will have to register in advance, but we would love to see more people from the WikiSalon community participate! For more information and registration, please check out meta:Wikimania 2022/San Francisco Meetup.
The event will involve hacking, teaching, learning, and celebrating and we'll have snacks. We will have the opportunity to watch live sessions at Wikimania together in the afternoon. The rest of the day we'll have opportunity to participate in the hackathon, and we may have some on-demand workshops/learning sessions.
In case we run out of space, it's first-come-first-serve so let us know soon! Hope to see you there.
