VJC

[edit]

Congratulations on all your hard work re: Old Victorians. I notice we don't have an "incentives and sanctions" section for VJC equivalent to the one for VS. Do you know anything about discipline at VJC? Alarics (talk) 15:58, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: Hi Alarics. Like any school, there are definitely such stuff. However, as the school cater for the older age group (17-18 yrs old), there is much more freedom given to the students. There is less emphasis on discipline. It is not even displayed on the official website of any junior college.

A tag has been placed on Anthony Yeo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Gonzonoir (talk) 08:26, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Gonzonoir (talk) 08:53, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Victoria School Hockey, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Victoria School Hockey. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. RadioFan (talk) 12:36, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Ng Hui

[edit]

The article Ng Hui has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not clear how this person meets WP:ENTERTAINER, lacks 3rd party references

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 12:49, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with Victoria School Hockey. Doing so won't stop the discussion from taking place. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the appropriate page. Thank you. Proposed deletion of Victoria School Cross-country

[edit]

The article Victoria School Cross-country has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Claims notability of team without any relevant details or citations; I merged it into Victoria_School#Cross-country_teams

Bearian (talk) 20:45, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This statement is not true at all - "Claims notability of team without any relevant details or citations". Check under References. You guys all trying to find fault. Just being trigger-happy and double standards. DragTian (talk) 02:34, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying it's completely non-notable, which is why I merged it into the school's article. The material still exists there. I'll change the tag to a merge tag instead. Bearian (talk) 22:48, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it is suitable to be merge into the School page. It is notable enough to have a separate page of its own.
Claims notability of team without any relevant details or citations - this is NOT true. You can check the page again. DragTian (talk) 03:43, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Agree that it is notable enough to have a page of its own. It will make the school page too huge too. DragTian (talk) 03:45, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to my talk page

[edit]

I have no idea why you wrote this on my page, as I never did any harm to you, and never deleted any of your contributions. What's up? Bearian (talk) 04:56, 29 December 2009 (UTC) Sorry, mistaken identity. I have removed it almost immediately. My apology again. DragTian (talk) 05:07, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Vs-bldg-front.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 17:41, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:VS-Bldg-Front.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 17:43, 9 January 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 17:43, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:VS-Edge.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:VS-Bldg-Front.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. File permission problem with File:VS-Concert.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:VS-Concert.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:05, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Victoria School, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. You are the one with the conflict of interest. That makes you a bad judge of whether the coi tag should be on the article. Eeekster (talk) 04:52, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. Continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Victoria School, without resolving the problem that the template refers to may be considered vandalism. Further edits of this type may result in you being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Eeekster (talk) 05:07, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Constructive contributions are appreciated and strongly encouraged, but your recent edit to the userpage of another user may be considered vandalism. Specifically, your edit to User:Eeekster may be offensive or unwelcome. In general it is considered polite to avoid substantially editing others' userpages without their permission. Instead, please bring the matter to their talk page and let them edit their user page themselves if they agree on a need to do so. Please refer to Wikipedia:User page for more information on User page etiquette. Thank you.

Enough!

[edit]

Please stop abusing my talk page. I do not owe you any discussion just for putting a coi tag on an article. Eeekster (talk) 05:38, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

oh, u don't?!! just being trigger-happy again i supposed.
and those tags said can be discussed, so who is going to discuss with me?
Anybody that wants to discuss them can discuss them. The tag simply notifies people of the coi issue; it does not create any kind of discussion by itself nor is the placer of the tag required to do so. You obviously have a conflict and you are a major contributor. What is it about those facts that you want to dispute? Eeekster (talk) 05:42, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, fine. what is going to happen if nobody wan to discuss? I have already stated my points. You gonna leave the tags there forever?
Yep, the tags will stay until the situation is resolved. Eeekster (talk) 05:50, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
how do we resolve it when nobody wan to discuss??
so wiki standards is that it can be resolved without discussion?
i cannot believe wiki standard - u put in a tag that it can be discussed. then nobody wan to discuss. the tag stayed till it is resolved. ????
no answer again?

The article Vincent Wijeysingha has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Phay Seng Whatt, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://news.asiaone.com/print/News/AsiaOne+News/Singapore/Story/A1Story20090421-136603.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Cricketer inclusion criteria

[edit]

All of the cricketers that have articles at Category:Singaporean cricketers all have one thing in common: they have played first-class or List A cricket for teams which have that status, besides playing matches for Singapore (whose matches don't have any status). Our inclusion policy for cricketers generally goes by this basis, which is outlined in WP:CRIN. Besides a lenghty club career as stated in the article is by no means a claim to notability. His ICC Trophy appearances fail WP:CRIN inclusion by themselves, and as such are considered minor matches (we do however permit articles on players should they have played in a final of said competition). Besides that, I can't see how this guy is particularly notable, given his cricket was at a low level, and there seems to be few sources to back-up notability outside of inclusion guidelines. Your contributed article, '''Ngiam''' Tee Liang

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, '''Ngiam''' Tee Liang. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Ngiam Tee Liang. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Ngiam Tee Liang – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Ben Ben (talk) 20:22, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good start, although crucially missing a description of Gill's actions as a whistleblower. Still, reviewed!

Notice

The article Non-Singapore politicians who had studied in Singapore has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence that this intersection of two characteristics is actually a notable topic

A tag has been placed on Pal Gill requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thanks for your contributions to Ali Ahmad (Singapore sprinter). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. ~ JASWE (talk) 03:13, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
