Welcome!
[edit]Welcome!
Hello, Dovikap, and welcome to Wikipedia! I have noticed that you are fairly new! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. I also see that some of your recent edits show an interest in the use of images and/or photos on Wikipedia.
Did you know that ...
- ...wikipedia has a very stringent image use policy?
- ...most images from Flickr, online news websites, and other web sources are copyrighted?
- ...wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously?
- ...freely-licensed images should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, a central location for images where they can be used on all Wikipedia projects?
- ...we recommend that new users use our "files for upload" process - at least until you get the hang of things?
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{Help me}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:
License tagging for File:Shado Twala.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Shado Twala.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Image without license
[edit]Unspecified source/license for File:Ian von memerty.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Ian von memerty.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}}
(to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (Talk • Contribs • Owner) 02:44, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Shadotwala.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Shadotwala.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. ☼ 13:01, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Genesis Suites and Confrencing
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Genesis Suites and Confrencing, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Orphaned non-free image File:Genesislogo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Genesislogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:36, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Genesis Suites & Conferencing
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Genesis Suites & Conferencing requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". [edit]Hello, Dovikap,
The Editing team is asking for your help with VisualEditor. I am contacting you because you have switched out of VisualEditor several times. Please tell them what they need to change to make VisualEditor work for you, so that you didn't need to switch to the wikitext editor. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and try to fix these small things, too.
You can share your thoughts by clicking this link. You may respond to this quick, simple, anonymous survey in your own language. If you take the survey, then you agree your responses may be used in accordance with these terms. More information (including a translateable list of the questions) is posted on wiki at mw:VisualEditor/Survey 2015. If you have questions, or prefer to respond on-wiki, then please leave a message on the survey's talk page.

[edit]Hi. There's one problem with your RfA: If you had read all the intructions and advice pages, you wouldn't have gone ahead with it. Admins are expected to read, understand, and act on instructions. I suggest you help the Wikipedia by first adding some content and then doing some other maintenance tasks. When you have read WP:Advice for RfA candidates after you have made a few thousand edits, you can still decide if you want to be an admin. If you need help with anything, don't hesitate to let me know. Happy editing! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:12, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, Dovikap. I've removed your nomination from the main RfA page. I'm afraid that with 600 edits, your chances of passing at this stage are very low. In addition to at least a year or two of activity, candidates typically need to have made several thousand edits just to be considered. But please don't be disheartened – please read WP:NOTNOW and consider running again after another year or two of solid editing. Best wishes, SuperMarioMan ( talk ) 14:35, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Saambou Building, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://wiki.up.ac.za/index.php/ABLEWIKI:Saambou_Building.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Speedy deletion nomination of Saambou Building
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Saambou Building requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://wiki.up.ac.za/index.php/ABLEWIKI:Saambou_Building. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". CrowCaw 19:15, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Hi, regarding your query on my talk page here in re The Leonardo (Sandton), a few notes:
The general notability guideline states: If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list.
So far, there's no indication from the references in the article that the building has received significant coverage (the opposite of passing mentions) from multiple sources independent of the subject. I see the use of forum discussions as references, which constitute user-generated content, and thus, are of no value as references let alone to establish notability. There's also http://www.co-arc.com/co-arc-international-architects-news-2015, which is a primary source, as is http://www.theleonardo.co.za/. Primary sources can't be used to establish notability because they are clearly not independent. The specific notability criteria for buildings is at WP:GEOFEAT, which says, Buildings, including private residences and commercial developments can be notable as a result of their historic, social, economic, or architectural importance. They require significant coverage by reliable, third-party sources to establish notability.
Now, if the building is the largest in South Africa, that would likely contribute to notability, but to establish notability, you need to demonstrate that the project has gained the legitimate mainstream press, be it online or in print. The sources must be reliable published sources with established reputations for fact-checking and clear editorial policies. Hope that helps. If you wish to reply, please do so here, so we can keep the conversation in one place. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:13, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Genesis Suites and Conferencing, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.
If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.
You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.
If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.
Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:31, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
Your draft article, Draft:Genesis Suites and Conferencing
[edit]Hello, KingofWiki. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "Genesis Suites and Conferencing".
In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply and remove the {{db-afc}}

code.

Symbio-City
[edit]Symbio-City has been canceled? Since when?--FierceJake754 (talk) 13:28, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
- Ages ago. Dovikap : Talk 22:11, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
- Do you have a source?--FierceJake754 (talk) 22:31, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
- I haven't found one yet, but will contact the developer to confirm it's canceled. I remember having a source previously, but I guess till then, it's uncanceled. Dovikap : Talk 10:26, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oh. I see. At this point, I really hope they did not cancel. That would be unfortunate, considering the concept though is astonishing. It would be amazing if South Africa have new large skyscrapers (larger than Carlton Centre) like Symbio-City and Durban Iconic Tower.--FierceJake754 (talk) 11:26, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, as great as Symbio-City may have seemed, it was not viable in that location. I don't believe it would've been close to full. I do however believe Durban Iconic Tower is definitely going up, and in a good location. Dovikap : Talk 10:27, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
I'd hate to admit but me neither. Symbio-City towers have been great but it was expected to be completed in 2018 a few years back, yet no constructions, no approval, nothing happened so far. As for Durban Iconic Tower, I have higher hopes for that one too. Also, congrats on that article you created there. I planned to do it first but I'm glad it was finally made. Keep up the great work bro!--FierceJake754 (talk) 21:29, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
A cup of coffee for you!
[edit]Nice work on Durban Iconic Tower - keep it up! Enjoy a cup of coffee on me.

The article Lalla Hirayama has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Mosque of Algiers
[edit]Hello Dovikap, with respect to the inclusion of the Great Mosque of Algiers on the List of tallest buildings in Africa, you have said that it is an exception to the normal standard of excluding minarets. Do you have a source that notes that the floor space of this minaret is over 50% usable? Or is it just an empty tower? 'Cheers, Loopy30 (talk) 15:29, 5 November 2017 (UTC) Hey. It appeared the source I had was unreliable. The minaret is merely a tower and not the tallest building in Africa. Dovikap : Talk 10:09, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
