I've been following the story of the renovated tobacoo buildings in Winston-Salem. I noticed the man who seems to be in charge of that is named Tomlinson. When I see that name I still think of that great-looking Tomlinson furniture factory in High Point, and I was so happy to find out others agreed with me and preserved it. It is a quite interesting story but I'm having some trouble finding out details on the National Register information. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:33, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, the article looks very good already. As you see i just tried adding an NRHP infobox and made other changes--please feel free to move that infobox within the article, or delete it, or revert anything else. The article would benefit from your getting the actual detailed NRHP nomination document. For North Carolina those documents are usually not available on-line, but they are available for free to you from the National Register. Follow instructions at wp:NRHPhelp to make an email request. Often they have it in electronic form ready to email back to you; otherwise they could run a photocopy and send it by postal mail, again for free. Hope this helps; good luck! --doncram 21:00, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
- Well, even better: following the North Carolina-specific instructions someone added at wp:NRHPhelp#North Carolina, I find my way to http://www.hpo.ncdcr.gov/nr/GF0173.pdf, the NRHP document (by Ray Manieri, dated September 1, 1982, with maps and one historic photo)! Enjoy. You can still request the National Register copy, and would receive a bigger set of accompanying photos, too, probably. --doncram 21:05, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I knew you were interested in NRHP structures so I thought it was worth a try.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 21:05, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
- (ec, while i added a little to the above). Great! --doncram 21:08, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
- I know it's silly but I make it a practice never to go to more than a few select sites at home. And this has turned out to be a good thing in this case. One "official" site for Market Square gave a virus warning. I found another one. The other one was for a company that sold the complex. And today I decided to go to that NRHP document but I have a limited amount of time at most of the libraries I go to. And this was taking an exceptionally long time to do anything. Plus after I gave up everything was so slow it was almost pointless to stay on the computer, but I don't know if there was a connection. I'll try again maybe next week.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:11, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Tazerdadog (talk) 14:17, 26 August 2013 (UTC)NHRP Data
Hi, Doncram, I'm theonesean. I'm trying to get more into content creation, and NHRP seemed like a good place to start. However, NHRP's web search is sketchy at best and their database file is currently unavailable to download. I was wondering if maybe you had a copy of it that you could share with me? If you don't, that's fine. Thanks, theonesean 16:04, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
- Have you followed instructions at wp:NRHPhelp about getting that, already? Probably you have? Sometimes the National Park Service servers are down, but they come back up in a day or two. I am happy to help and I do have the mid-2010 version of the NRIS downloaded somewhere, and it is probably not too big to send by email. Send me an email. --doncram 17:44, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oh i see now at the NRIS download site (within the download all area, which is what you want) a message "Download entire database will be available again soon." That is probably great news, i am guessing it means they will have a current/2013 update soon, much better to wait briefly and start working with that. I and others have worked too long with 2010 version. --doncram 19:43, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
Cimarron Redoubt
Perhaps you've seen that I reverted you — not because I objected to your action here, but because I created the category that you rightly removed. Virtually every county in the country has a "Buildings and structures in COUNTYNAME County, STATENAME", so if you find other articles with a redlinked category of that sort, I'd ask that you resolve the problem by creating the category instead of removing it. Nyttend (talk) 22:56, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
- Okay will do, if it comes up again. I wasn't sure if that could be a really small county, not likely to have many notable buildings, so i had just chosen to shorten the category name, when i came across the redlink category. Not sure how i came across Cimarron Redoubt either. Thanks. --doncram 23:25, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've done rather little work with Kansas, so I don't know for sure, but judging by things farther east, I'd expect the courthouse to be notable. Throw that in with the county's other four NR listings, and we definitely have enough articles for a category that's part of a sequence. Don't know how much you've done with CFD, so I'm not sure if you would or wouldn't know — they're really not friendly toward the deletion of individual non-empty categories that are in sequences, regardless of how small they are. See Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2012 March 24, at which I put in a deletion nomination for Category:National Register of Historic Places in Crawford County, Indiana: the county has just two listings (one of which wasn't listed in 2012) and one article, but the category got kept because some people didn't want to delete part of a sequence. normal sort
If the project wishes to sort based on this, they can. Remember that most building articles do not sort on anything except the actual building name. The biggest exception I have noticed is religious buildings in the UK where they mostly sort based on city/town. So when you put these different choices these into a broader category, you get a random mess. As I said, if the project wants to sort within the project categories that way, they are free to do so, but then it would be a piped sort and not something applied to all categories. Delirium (talk) 16:11, 5 September 2013 (UTC)Chicago Theatre documents
You are the expert in finding NRHP documents. I have tried http://pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NRHP/Text/79000822.pdf which is suppose to be the url for the Chicago Theatre text, but it is not yet digitized. I have just realized the reason this article has not appeared at Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/October 26 is that the text regarding it emblematic marquee is not well sourced. Can you help.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 22:01, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) NRHP documents in Illinois can be found through the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency's HARGIS system. Here is the document for the Chicago Theatre. TheCatalyst31 Reaction•Creation 22:23, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Surprisingly that form does not state that the Marquee is a significant emblematic element in a way that will help me to source its popularity and cultural significance. Any other ideas?--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 23:18, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- Just about everything i know about finding NRHP documents is written into wp:NRHPhelp, e.g. whatever is at wp:NRHPhelp#Illinois. Since TheCatalyst31 found the NRHP nom document--thanks!--through Hargis, I don't think i can add anything more.
- I do like the Chicago Theatre article. Browsing it, i am interested to learn about the Municipal Device, the Y that appears in the marquee background. Too bad the current footnote 7 is a dead link, perhaps that is an important one for you. Can the wayback machine help you get a link to that source? I honestly don't know. Good luck, sorry i can't be of more help. --doncram 23:36, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Lugia2453 (talk) 20:58, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Copyvios
I thought I warned you about inordinate quotation. This is your reminder, since articles such as St. John's German Evangelical Lutheran Church demonstrate that you're still infringing copyright. Nyttend (talk) 21:56, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- Nyttend, I believe you are completely incorrect in your assessment that there is a copyvio in that article, and in other articles. This has been explained to you before. There are serious matters here: for one, copyvio is serious, and for another, an administrator repeatedly making accusations about copyvio that I believe -- and others have agreed -- are incorrect. I think this needs some discussion in a proper forum, and am open to doing this. However, I wonder if some kind of "workshop" type of RFC could be convened at a neutral location, as an alternative to making it an RFC/U about yourself or a different prosecutorial-type discussion about me. I sincerely believe that you think short "verbatim quotations" are copyvios; however I sincerely believe you are dead wrong. --doncram 22:02, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Disruptive editing at Crow House
Please stop your disruptive editing at Crow House! As you know, this article was extensively discussed at WT:WPDAB, now archived there. You participated. There was consensus that this article should not be deleted but should be a set index article and not a disambiguation page. You have now twice tried to revert consensus. If you think consensus has changed or you wish to change consensus, please reopen discussion at WT:WPDAB. Otherwise, sneaky or disruptive edits will not go unnoticed and unreported. Thank you. 66.217.203.232 (talk) 19:54, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
- Huh, I happened across Crow House in a list of NRHP wikiproject pages needing rating, and did the obvious corrections to it. I did not recall that previous discussion, out of many previous discussions about dab pages, but i do find it archived at Crow House discussion at wt:dab. The consensus as i read it there, again, is that Crow House is obviously a dab page.
- To the non-logged in editor, use your account or open one, to have a discussion, okay? I don't want it here. --doncram 20:00, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
- In particular, discuss at Talk:Crow House#dab or sia?, which links to the old discussion. You could post a new notice at at wt:dab, to direct others to the discussion, if you wish. Anyhow, continue there, not here. --doncram 20:07, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

- Doncram, I added my comments to discussion because I appreciate your dedication to Wikipedia and if there is a way to address any issues your recent edits may be causing while still allowing and encouraging you to contribute, that is much better than not letting you contribute. In other words, you've earned my respect for your dedication to the project, in spite of past and, allegedly, present failures to follow all of the policies. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 17:45, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

I notice you created Joseph Morven House as a redirect to Morven (Princeton, New Jersey). Could you explain why, please? Lugia2453 (talk) 21:21, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Active discussion at WP:Arbitration enforcement
Hello Doncram. As you know a discussion about your edits is occurring at WP:AE#Doncram. When you last commented on 17 September you indicated you might have more to say. Admins have proposed a sanction in your case but have not yet reached a conclusion. The floor is open to you if you want to make a further response at AE. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 14:07, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
Arbitration enforcement action closed
A thread at arbitration enforcement to which you were a party is now closed: [1]. The result is that you are topic banned indefinitely from making any edits related to the National Register of Historic Places. The normal exceptions apply, including that you may make such edits to appeal this ban in the proper venue. Violation of a topic ban will result in a block from editing. If you have any questions or are unclear regarding the ban, you may ask for clarification from me on my talk page; this will also not be considered a violation of the ban. Seraphimblade Talk to me 17:11, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Doncram, I did read and consider your additional statement. Insofar as that can be considered an appeal to me as the administrator who levied the sanction, I decline to alter or lift it. Your statement consists of a lot more statements against Orlady, with a handwave toward diffs you could in the future provide. It is always expected that, if you are going to accuse an editor of misconduct, that you will substantiate your accusation or refrain from making it. But the larger issue is that the statement addresses everything but your behavior. Orlady is far from the only editor at that proceeding who has found your participation disruptive. When that many editors are telling you there's something wrong, it's generally time to start asking "What am I doing that so antagonizes people?" rather than "What's wrong with all of them?". I'd encourage you to take a few months, edit productively in other areas, and reflect on your actions leading up to this scenario. After that break, come back and ask for your restrictions to be eased or lifted. "Indefinite" doesn't mean forever, but it does mean we need to see a reason to believe we won't be right back to more of the same. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:38, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Support
I'm sorry I was not aware of the proceedings against you, otherwise I would have stated a case in your support. I do hope you can show you are the productive great editor that I know you are. Civility has not always been my strong point either, that is why I rarely edit now a days. I hope things become better. And for the record, I agree that a certain editor who has had the biggest issue with you is the real problem on these issues that arise between you two, and I hope that admins take an interest in looking at that editor and topic banning her.Camelbinky (talk) 21:48, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Note on topic ban
Doncram, as an arbitration enforcement action, you were required to refrain from making edits related to the National Register of Historic Places. This includes any edit related to this topic, whether in mainspace, project space, userspace, or anywhere else. You may not make any edits which would regard this topic at all. It has been brought to my attention that you violated the topic ban with this edit: [2]. While I will consider this a one-time misunderstanding and clarification, please be aware that you may not make any edits which in any way touch upon the banned subject anywhere on Wikipedia in any way whatsoever. If you should again make any edits related to this subject on any Wikipedia page, regardless of namespace, an immediate block from editing will be the result. Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest
I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:20, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Recent edit
Hi Doncram, I noticed your recent edit at Field Farm... let me start by saying that I have no problem with the edit itself. I am contacting you about it because I don't want the mere fact that you made an edit (any edit) to that article to come back and bite you in the ass.
As you know, you have been topic banned from NRHP related articles... and it is my understanding that Field Farm is not on the NRHP. Thus, a strict (narrow interpretation) reading of your topic ban would indicate that your edit was OK. However, there is another (broad interpretation) way to read it... I could see someone arguing that the intent of the topic ban was broader... that the ban prevents you from editing articles related to historic preservation of buildings and properties in general (no matter what the actual entity that lists it is). So... before you make similar edits to other articles, I would strongly suggest that you ask for clarification on that point.
Note that I am not accusing you of violating the topic ban... I don't actually know where the boundaries of the ban are supposed to be. I could ask, but I don't want to unintentionally get you in trouble. I think it would be better for you to ask yourself. What I am trying to avoid is a situation where you make a good faith edit, thinking that you were in compliance with the topic ban... only to have it turn out that you are not.

Your draft article, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Pierre's Hole 1832 Battle Area Site
Hello Doncram. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Pierre's Hole 1832 Battle Area Site".
The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply {{db-afc}}

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Pierre's Hole 1832 Battle Area Site}}
, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 10:02, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- No problem. I can't see the deleted draft, but for the record, I vaguely recall discussion at the time, and the creation of a redirect from the name proposed by me for the AFC draft article to a section in Pierre's Hole article which i think turned out to pre-exist the AFC draft. Seems fine as it is settled out now. --doncram 02:09, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello! Thank you for all the work on historical buildings. I was wondering if you are from Utah or if you live there now?
Anyway, I noticed that you seemed unclear about whether the Spanish Fork High School Gymnasium was actually part of Spanish Fork High School. I went to high school there, and that nice art deco building is definitely NOT part of the present day SFHS. It's a good 15-20 minute walk from the present day school, if I recall correctly. In fact, the actual gym of SFHS is a typical 70s era public school piece of crap! See this picture if you're curious. I think they might have rennovated it in 2010, so maybe it's not as crappy now as it was when I was a student. As far as the historic Gymnasium building, I think that Nebo School District Offices has some of its offices there now. I just edited the Gymnasium article as well as the SFHS article to help try to clear this up. Hope this helps.--Jerk of Thrones (talk) 14:11, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

List of television program creators
Following Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2013 December 29, it seems to me that creating List of television program creators seems helpful towards developing Wikipedia properly. The Category:Television program creators was just deleted, erroneously in my view. In "the industry", creatorship is a clear, well-understood role. Whilst deletion of a useful category seems like a step backwards, this can be remedied by creating a list article, in which referencing can be established, and then restoring the category will follow. Contributions developing it would be appreciated. Draft is at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/List of television program creators. --doncram 21:57, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

Hey Doncram--Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Joseph F. and Anna B. Schrot Farm, Clearfield PA, isn't that up your alley? I don't know what the notability specifics are for such subjects; can you have a look and maybe quickly decline or accept? It's been lingering for a while and I had to block the creator for their username. Thanks. Drmies (talk) 18:34, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Drmies -- I see someone declined it already, but the Shrot Farm is definitely a valid topic; it is item #19 in National Register of Historic Places listings in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania (currently a red-link). It looks like the person worked from the NRHP nomination document, which should be available online. The citation could/should be added and it could be fixed up a bit more, then it is obviously okay and the contributor should be encouraged/rewarded. I am not doing NRHP work now, though, am in fact banned from doing so i guess. Could you post about it to wt:NRHP so that someone NRHP-interested would fix it up and approve it / move it to article space (or if any lurker wants to address it, please volunteer here). --doncram 21:51, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response and I'm sorry--I certainly didn't mean to rub salt in a wound. One of the lurkers is on it. Thanks again, Drmies (talk) 22:47, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
- No problem. It seems the contributor was entirely constructive, including adding to the article after it was rejected, but then was treated harshly, in their account being entirely blocked rather than just informing them technically they should request a name-change. Whatever. --doncram 00:03, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- It's a "softerblock", which allows them to propose a name change. Drmies (talk) 00:54, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- This is not specific to anything about NRHP, but rather it is about treatment of a new contributor which could be about any subject, so I'll continue to respond a bit. Drmies, you have got to be kidding, if you think a new contributor will appreciate that they have been given something "softer". I gather they can edit their own Talk page, and submit, as if they would know how!!! a template request to change their name....that is absurd. By their name choice, they do seem to be associated with the topic of the article, which is a good thing if true: they could likely contribute photos and so on. They probably don't have general interest in learning about nuances of wikipedia. IMHO, they simply should be encouraged, and given some help, e.g. adding a proper reference to the supporting documents, and so on, and given some gentle nudging. They are not abusing anything, and blocking the accountname is not necessary if they are not going further. I would simply assume that they do have some association, and point them to wp:COI which explicitly allows for them to make contributions but asks them to disclose their association. And welcome them individually and speak to them in real terms and apologize for the fact that they have only received bot notices or bot-like notices, no real response at their Talk.
- For an alternative example,
tho i can't find a link right nowhere is user talk page, there was not long ago a Virginia editor associated with a house who hadcontributed pics to commons anddeveloped an article at AFC about the house, which was rejected. And it required development, and I simply helped and added references, and encouraged them to add pics to commons which they did, and I pointed out problems gently, including the naming in the article of the current owner which seemed not necessary, and they chose to remove that. And it led to the article being accepted and a good experience. It just seems unfriendly to come down on an editor for a technically improper username, and giving them no welcome or other real human interaction. YMMV. --doncram 01:38, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Is this building notable?
I've worked hard on User:Vchimpanzee/Central Elementary School (Albemarle, North Carolina) today so I hope it qualifies as notable, even though it's only an elementary school. It was a high school at one time. I think I asked you once before to look at the information I had found but I never heard back. I'll check your talk page archives.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 21:37, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- Just so you'll know, I have yet to find the general history, but I was going through the local library's file of newspaper articles for information that would establish notability as well as the progress of renovation. I knew they took a lot longer than they had planned to.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 21:39, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- Nothing in your archive that I know of. Maybe I asked someone else. I don't remember what I did with the information on the building being honored. When I find it I'll add it.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 21:46, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Vchimpanzee. I added a few things to the article. It seems good to me, it seems like you have supported its notability as a Wikipedia article topic. Good luck with it. The AFC article process is really slow these days, it would be nice if someone would just move it to mainspace. You could do that yourself, i think, while I can't, currently. --doncram 01:01, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'm happy to move the article into mainspace, but I think it needs some work first. The original building was constructed in 1924? It was a high school? Named Central High School? And now it's being sold by the city after being relocated and renoavated? It was also used as an elementary school, and was set for demolition when a new elementary school was constructed? Does the new elementary school include some of the original old buildings? It's all a little muddled. Candleabracadabra (talk) 01:34, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking at it and commenting. I hope i didn't muck up the situation by confusing a high school vs. an elementary school. What i added was about an "Old Central School". There could be a difference that I am not aware of. Vchimpanzee must be able to make any necessary distinctions on that, i hope, and fix any error i introduced. Thanks again. --doncram 01:41, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

- Here is another source. I have my doubts about one of the dates, so let's not use it because I will find something better. I'll try to add more from these sources, and then if you feel there is more to do, the two of you can use the information in the four sources how you wish in the section on the 1924 building. There is no "new school" since that is the 1924 building, two 1936 additions and another addition completed in 2007. Maybe the section heading can be renamed.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 15:23, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, I see User:Candleabracadabra has been busy. The wording does look better and I think the facts are clearer at this point, so the right wording is easier to do. There was a [citation needed] in one of his/her additions, but everything is sourced, so I went back through the history to see what source I had given for each detail, and it was clear what source referred to what information, so I was able to fix the sources. I'm going to go to my other four sources now and see what I can do with them. What I am still missing is a complete history of each of the buildings. I'm not sure "preservation and renovation" is appropriate given that both buildings have to go through that process, and given that the 1924 building and its additions have a history prior to the work (I didn't even get around to saying students moved out of that building), but the "old" building has not.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 17:49, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

NRHP & Recent canvassing
(section title changed by me- doncram, and again by pigsonthewing)
Further to your recent canvassing, aren't you still "indefinitely topic-banned from any edits relating to the National Register of Historic Places and related areas, broadly construed"
per this? If so, please strike the relevant !votes and subsequent comments. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 21:34, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
- "Recent canvassing"? E.g. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Surprise Lake Camp? You posted to my Talk page accusation that I was canvassing, I think using a standard template which substituted text, which asserted that I had been editing Talk pages of editors selectively to call them to one issue. And then you had to edit the standard language to drop assertions of Talk page comments because the canvassing claim obviously did not apply, as I simply had not done that. I removed the canvassing assertion here because it was nonsense. --doncram 21:46, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
- [ec] Anyone can see the wording I used when I posted previously (you removed my comment), about your unacceptable canvassing. I note that you have removed (not struck) the NRHP references from your various comments, but that you have left the remainder of those comments, even though the topics are NRHP-related. I again invite you to strike them, in their entirety, as they are still in contravention of the topic ban. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:07, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
- About suggestion that my AFD comments violated anything, per your suggestion I have revisited Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Falling Creek Camp, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camp Ondessonk, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Forest Lake Camp to remove mention of NRHP. I don't think my original statements violated anything, but nonetheless I removed the contested comments per your request here, I believe fully responding to your request. If I missed something, please let me know. I happen to be focused on AFDs recently, and I noticed the commonality between your multiple recent AFD submissions. Frankly, I think you are grasping at straws, given that your own AFD nominations about multiple notable summer camps seem unfounded, but whatever. --doncram 22:06, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camp Pathfinder (2nd nomination)
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sitka Fine Arts Camp
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camp Modin
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Forest Lake Camp
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Falling Creek Camp
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camp Ondessonk
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camp Rockmont for Boys
- which seems to be 7 ongoing AFDs where I personally think wp:BEFORE is not met. In 3 of those, i did refer to a pretty rock-solid principle in wikipedia about a certain kind of notability, which I don't think violates anything, but i removed the reference anyhow, upon Pigsonthewing's request. I am responding to accusations here, not "canvassing" to Talk pages. --doncram 22:19, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, further, I have stricken my comment, per Pignsonthewing's explicit request, on the one AFD about an article whose notability involves a certain topic. --doncram 22:36, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

Question at Hillary Rodham Clinton
I have just removed the question I made on the talk page of Hillary Rodham Clinton. It is a genuine question I had and I was interested to get a helpful answer, but I would rather not ask it than have that kind of trouble flare up unnecessarily. It was the discussion that led to the ARBCOM request that directed me to this page, actually, although the issues involved are entirely different. I have received quite a few personal attacks for what happened there and I wish not to receive any more: I already feel as if many of the accusations made against me are entirely inappropriate. The behaviour I have experienced from other editors has been very disappointing. 131.111.185.66 (talk) 20:13, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- Incidentally, if you would be happy to answer my question here, where problematic discussion would not ensue, then please do so. 131.111.185.66 (talk) 20:45, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- (ec) Actually, i appreciate your removal of that question, and your coming here. I spoke there to my increasing view that I.P. editors are succeeding too much in gaming the logged-in editors, without accountability. I don't see any reason why you should not take a break, create an account, and come back separately as a logged-in editor, if you wish to participate in Wikipedia. It is actually more anonymous, in that your location is not identified. And, you'd have more credibility with me and others, as you would not appear to be likely just another version of someone we've already seen causing trouble and not ever contributing already, and you could build a record of actual contributions to mainspace (as opposed to demands upon the community in wikipedia Talk space). Why not do that? And, your perception of personal attacks upon yourself could well be justified (but I am not inclined to go into any kind of investigation because you are not a registered user and if I bothered to help you, that would not be helping anyone likely to help me or to help wikipedia in general....). I do rather think that over the years Wikipedia has become a pretty horribly, uncivil place. Relatedly, one reason why I kind of resent you or other I.P.s making demands, is that you are not subject to the deep incivility and threats and hauls to ANI and ARBCOM and elsewhere that regular logged-in editors risk. You risk nothing, you demand something, you give no value, to be blunt. I wouldn't really recommend joining Wikipedia to any friend in real life, at this point, but if you want to participate here you have to join more properly, and build a rep and take risks like the rest of us do. (But, probably you have done that already, and you have one or two accounts that you don't want to sully with conflict, and your I.P.-editing is just trolling. See, i can't trust you at all.... Well, frankly it feels a bit stupid to be responding to an I.P.)
- I dunno, to try to respond to your posed question on a simple level, it matters not a whit how editors on other pages choose to display Hillary's name, with a Rodham or not. I believe there is no policy about that, and I solidly believe there should be none, because dictating centrally what must be done everywhere is usually a bad idea and would cause endless friction if not outright battles. I would leave the discretion to local editors elsewhere, who could follow their own personal view selfishly, or they could use some judgment about whether, in that local context, Hillary was generally known with or without Rodham, and go with the usage most common in that local context. Your "question" could have attracted the interest of some editors who tend towards being interested in controlling other editors, I would grant. I would simply rather not have such a trolling-for-controlling-interested-editors kind of discussion at all. And if there is no importance to the question, as you said you were not interested in which form of name is used, then especially why demand discussion on an already exhausted set of editor-followers of Talk:Hillary Rodham Clinton. I honestly do appreciate your dropping it there. If you want further comment on the simple level of trying to respond to your question on a simple level, then do ask/comment further. --doncram 21:01, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for replying, Doncram. Let me write a few sentences in case it makes you feel better. I have never had a Wikipedia account. I am an ordinary user (Wikipedia reader) who became more and more interested in how it works by looking at the talk pages of articles. My interest has increased gradually over time. I would have probably ended up getting an account, but the incident elsewhere has put me off entirely. I am a normal student at the University of Cambridge, in case that makes it feel as if I am more of a person than just a number.
- It appears as if you are suggesting that there is no general consensus about what I asked. It is surprising that editors have spent so much time focused on a single title but have ignored what readers see most of all: her name written thousands of times across actual Wikipedia articles. The reason why I asked at that page was because I thought the page would have had many users who knew the answer to my question, not because I was trying to cause trouble.
- I appreciate your answer and your tone, Doncram. 131.111.185.66 (talk) 19:16, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for your following up. I appreciate what you say, too, and I guess i may have been incorrect in assumptions I made (like your being a troll already having Wikipedia account experiences), but I think you can understand why I thought that was reasonable. I encourage you to go ahead and open an account, and to begin to contribute to wikipedia in low-profile, non-controversial topics, and learn the ropes. Good luck. --doncram 18:34, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Nomination of Dundee Community Garden for deletion
Doncram Thanks for your support in Keeping the article currently under AfD discussion. I appreciate the suggestion to merge into a single list. I've added three independent sources, and still have several more to add tomorrow. With all of the coverage, it seems that Dundee Community Garden meets the wp:Notability#General_notability_guideline as an independent article. I addressed the comments from both of the other editors suggestion deletion. If the discussion still drifts towards Deletion, then we might discuss the merged List option at that time. Request reason:
This relates to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:Pigsonthewing reported by Doncram (Result: Both blocked for 48 hours). I request to have the Edit Warring judgment revisited, and technically I request to be unblocked now or sooner than 48 hours. I do appreciate that the admin corps did not merely let it go with no action and close with non-verdict "Stale". However, the truth matters, and it is unjust to apply blame equally. It is not fair -- and this matters at a big level for Wikipedia -- it is not fair for an editor to engage in bullying-type activity, and for a victim to stand up to it and yet follow procedures, and then to have the victim blamed and punished equally.
I wholeheartedly disagree with Pigsonthewing's lame claim that his first edit shouldn't count, which was eventually accepted at face value ("I think I see what you meant -- that the first edit was not actually a revert") by closer Chris. Unfortunately i am too familiar with the 3RR rules (from being been on the losing side of that technical point in the past). And Pigsonthewing knows it too, or should be expected to, and knew he was forcing his way unfairly. Specifically, per wp:3RR, "A "revert" means any edit (or administrative action) that reverses the actions of other editors, in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material." The page that was blanked & redirected by Pigsonthewing was this page, which included a table prepared by User:ScottHW and two relatively minor edits by me developing it along a bit. That table and my contributions too were entirely removed by Pigsonthewing's edits 4 times. That absolutely is 4 removals.
The fact that Pigsonthewing, after the edit warring, later restored the table to the other article, does not change the fact of his edit warring which had entirely removed the table. He obviously would have expected me to be opening a 3RR (in fact I suspect he wished I would), and he considered what he had done, and took action to cover up and confuse. Like in the 3RR itself he chooses not to answer direct questions, and makes confusing charges instead. But he absolutely had removed the material entirely at the other page too, and seemingly dismissively in his edit summary "rm repetition", as I noted at 3RRnb. And I noted that IF he had deigned to discuss what he meant, to ask what concerned me, perhaps something would have been cleared up, but he did not. Some judgment should be applied.
I don't terribly object to being blocked for a short period, as I was indeed involved in an edit war. But I do object to being judged equally at fault, and I would appreciate some advice on what I should have done differently, if anything. I anticipated that Pigsonthewing would be taking actions like this, based on recent disagreement, and he is, and I don't know how I could possibly have dissuaded him. It should not be the Wikipedia position that a class of bully-type actors can choose to force their own way, and that the victims of bullying-type behavior should always roll over and take it. I opened a discussion at Talk page. I used edit summaries calling for use of Talk page. I took the time to put this issue up properly at 3RRnb, to seek other editors' views.
Is there a suggestion how I could raise it properly at any noticeboard? I doubt that I would have been taken seriously if I opened a discussion at ANI. Seriously, what would you have me do instead? doncram 21:39, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You were edit warring, period. Instead of blaming the other editor in a long wall of text, please review Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks, show that you understand why you were blocked and will not continue the disruptive behavior. Dreadstar ☥ 21:50, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
(ec) when i was just adding:
P.S. Thank you, Chris, for taking this seriously, although I disagree with your lack of differentiation in judgment. Also, I am aware that requests to unblock are often dismissed with comments that a person is still arguing the past issue, and that only admitting fault is allowed, even if you really weren't at fault or don't believe it. The guide to requesting unblocks states "Talk about yourself, not others", i know. Here, I do believe I am at fault in a vague way, for having had past interactions with Pigsonthewing which contributes to him being inclined to act as he did. And for being involved with this article, where I was seeking to help another editor, ScottHW, to proceed in developing Wikipedia constructively. But Pigsonthewing also has been prickly with other editors, too, and I seriously ask what is a person to do.
I am not surprised to be dismissed. Again, Chris, I would appreciate your commenting further. --doncram 21:54, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

Request reason:
See above.
Accept reason:
I've gone ahead and granted your unblock request since Pigsonthewing has stated he will not revert further; and I also think you do understand and take responsibility for your own actions. Next time, if there is one, don't use your unblock request as a replacement for WP:DR. Dreadstar ☥ 22:19, 27 May 2014 (UTC))
- Thanks, Dreadstar. I disagree with your assertion that i was not dismissed in any way by you; you did strongly imply that you did not read what I wrote (calling it a wall of text, and rejecting the request in an very short time, and not acknowledging anything in it). And I think the system is broken if 3RR enforcers are not seeking to apply some differentiation based on the facts, which is what I asked for. But, again, thanks for unblocking, and have no hard feelings towards you. It is more about the whole system, which tends to support bad behavior or treat it just the same, creating organizational injustice. Sincerely, --doncram 23:03, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
- I actually did read every word you wrote, but chose not to comment on the content that was irrelevant to the unblock request; instead choosing to link you to WP:DR. Indeed, some admins don't have the time to read through something that is not only irrelevant but also fits tl;dr length, so it's misuse of the template and therefore an understandable decline. There's no reward for misusing an unblock template. Actually, I feel dismissed since you ignored everything I said. Dreadstar ☥ 23:22, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, I appreciate your following up. I do feel better that you say you did read it. And I'm sorry you perceive me not to have absorbed what you said. For one, you must have read it to inform your judgment of what I did and do understand.
- I actually did not expect to get unblocked, really; my previous experience with 3RR and unblock requests has been really poor and my observations there about others' cases go along with that. I've perceived vindictiveness and non-listening and delight in applying boomerang and so on. I was hoping just to make a point and to actually call for differentiation, and actually call for some real discussion on what I should do. I perceive the Unblock request process as never working, from my past experience, and am surprised not to encounter worse. You and Chris were both civil and decent. You call my trying to discuss a misuse of the unblock template. If your point is that you are working Unblock requests, and getting a poorly formed one is causing work, then I do understand that. Similarly to how I have been working AFD items, and seeing poor nominations as causing work. I hope you understand more where I was coming from, not expecting it to work.
- And I really do appreciate your unblocking and your following up. That said, I still think this block unblock didn't work as it should, and sort of disagree with your pointing me to wp:DR. Yes, there are other issues raised in this 3RR discussion and interactions, tending toward Dispute Resolution being needed. But, the 3RR was a straightforward request for action/judgment, and, like many other 3RR's, didn't come to a differentiated judgment. That impairs my ability to refer to this in any other Dispute Resolution. I would have to argue the whole thing, that indeed the other editor did violate 3RR, and others would question well then why wasn't that judged in the 3RR. It undermines going forward, that the fact-finding nature of 3RR did not work properly (in my view). For 3RR to support Wikipedia being a fair environment, it has to work properly, meaning that fairness and differentiated judgements are important. It is not good that more badly behaving editors can effectively kick up sand, cause confusion, and know/work the system better, yet get an equal outcome, and have no disadvantage if/when it would be appropriate to bring this up again. Who, later, will really want to go into the details and come to a different judgment than the 3RR closers and unblockers? One way this is poor in this case (in my view) is that the more badly behaving party gets to efficiently pose a non-remorseful, short request to be unblocked, without acknowledging/learning anything (e.g. not having to acknowledge he did break 3RR, which he has repeatedly asserted he has not, when he simply did), and gets unblocked quicker. And he is elsewhere editing my comments, as if to emphasize it was fine for him to do that in the 3RR. And [https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Community_gardens_in_Omaha,_Nebraska&diff=next&oldid=610415664 accusing me of making "false allegations", vaguely, but i think he means for my saying he violated 3RR. It would be far better if the 3RR process had come to judgments on the two points: don't refactor another editor's comments that you are contending against, and you were wrong, you did violate 3RR. I do appreciate it wasn't far worse, like a long block or extensions of block once set. That's my sincere view. Thanks again for considering and for your following up thoughtfully. --doncram 00:56, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for your detailed explanation and reasoning. WP:EDITWAR is a very simple policy, one meant to quickly deter disruption and reduce potential future problems due to edit warring, it is not meant to deal with more complex issues; those issues are what DR and other Wikipedia venues are for - and certainly not the unblock template, decisions there should be simple and clear, just as the policies intend. Neither of you were blocked for violating 3RR, you were blocked for edit warring. You walked right up to the line with three reverts, as did Pigsonthewing (I don't think the first edit was a revert, since there was no redirect there before; so I agree with Chris on that and the other things he says below. Dreadstar ☥ 04:42, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
As a general reply to clarify my block, and perhaps some points in particular: I did consider this case for well over a half an hour after gathering all of the facts. Ultimately, it boiled down to these findings: (1) Both of you were very obviously edit warring over a short period of time ("short" being relative, but in this context, as far as edit wars go it was rather short), and (2) I had seen no indication from either of you that you planned to stop and discuss, other than the AN3 topic in which you were both seeking some kind of administrator intervention against the other party. Your alleged "lack of differentiation in judgment" on my part seems to boil down to you believing that the other party broke 3RR while you did not. Whether this is true is, in my opinion, a matter of interpretation of the phrase "undoes other editors' actions." We could probably have a lengthy discussion on this, but I will table that for now.
The way I view it, any edit war between two parties is going to end up with one person doing N reverts, and the other doing either N or N+1. It would not be unreasonable, given the history and the timing of the AN3 report, to conclude that you reverted three times, believing that Andy's first attempt at a redirect did in fact count as a revert, in an attempt to game him into a fourth revert so that you could have him blocked while yourself being free to continue editing. I hesitated to draw this conclusion as it requires judgement of intent, and I don't personally feel comfortable judging the intent of others. For this reason I did not bring it up as part of my closing remark on AN3. However, I would strongly advise you to be aware of how things appear -- even if your intent was not to game him into breaching 3RR, the appearance based on page history alone is very strong.
It takes more than one person to edit war, and in this case I don't see one party bearing more blame than the other. Generally if you are reverted you stop and discuss immediately, instead of continuing to try to force your way (this applies to all parties in an edit war). Other parties should have been solicited for advice long before you were both at your third (or fourth) revert.
Given that you have both indicated that you do not intend to continue the war, I have no problem whatsoever with Dreadstar's decision to unblock you. I appreciate that both you and Andy have reacted to the block with civility. --Chris (talk) 02:35, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
location of discussion issue
Please don't anyone else comment here. This is a temporary discussion between Pigsonthewing and me. If it stays civil, and seems productive, I will keep it. If it seems unhelpful, i will delete it. --doncram
To Pigsonthewing, you have made demands at several discussions about the location of a discussion. The location of the discussion is mostly addressed already in 3RRnb discussion, which is still not archived, which is currently at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:Pigsonthewing reported by Doncram (Result: Both blocked for 48 hours). [UPDATE: Here it is (3RR archived version).] In case you are, in good faith, really not understanding, I will explain here. I am not really hopeful this will settle it, but please acknowledge I am trying in good faith to fully respond. Even though I tend to doubt your good faith on this. Don't complain this is a wall of text; i am doing a favor of responding to you.
Here's a chronology:
- At 6:59 on May 27, in this edit and the next edit that made a correction, editor Gilliam created a mergefrom calling for a discussion. That created this version of the Community gardens in Nebraska article. If you hover on the link created, it points to Talk:Community gardens in Nebraska. However, note also that an earlier-posted mergefrom template, about Dundee Community Garden, above it, already had a link pointing to Talk:Community gardens in Nebraska.
- At the one Talk page, there was a discussion, "Merge -- I think it's a good idea. Candleabracadabra (talk) 00:36, 26 May 2014 (UTC)". Given the time of Candleabracadabra's posting, that was a response to the call for discussion about merging the Dundee Community Garden article.
- Probably in the morning of the 27th, or perhaps before the 27th, I had noticed that Candleabracadabra had posted that brief statement.
- Also, sometime after the new call for discussion at 6:59 on the 27th, i noticed it and followed its link, which I thought (incorrectly) went to a different page, that I assumed (incorrectly) to be Talk:Community gardens in Omaha, Nebraska. I saw an identical brief statement by Candleabracadabra "Merge -- I think it's a good idea". I understood (incorrectly) that to be a comment about the Omaha merger proposal. It absolutely appeared to be just that.
- Then, at 12:59 on the 27th, you started in your redirecting the Community gardens in Omaha, Nebraska article.
- I recalled there was already a discussion notice posted. At 13:06, I undid your revision, with my edit summary "There is a merger proposal." It seemed obviously unhelpful that you were cutting the discussion short.
- I went to look for it at Talk:Community gardens in Omaha, Nebraska, but found there to be no page there at all.
- As i explained later, I had then wondered if the Talk page had been deleted. I wondered if you had redirected the article, and at the same time had judged the Talk page to have no substantial content, and so had deleted it. Candleabracadabra's comment was indeed not substantial, and there had been nothing else on the page.
- At 13:08, thinking i was recreating the deleted page, i created Talk:Community gardens in Omaha, Nebraska, and started the discussion with posting:
There was a merger proposal here. The page was deleted?
I think that editor ScottHW believes that a list-article about the Omaha ones alone is a worthy topic, and is developing it. From afar, I preferred one list-article about all the community gardens in Nebraska. But, the Omaha ones alone meet Wikipedia-notability standards, as there is plenty of coverage about them, and if one editor wants to develop it that way, I say let 'em go at it.
I see no urgency to this merger proposal after a lot of editor attention has been applied to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dundee Community Garden . Let the interested editors do what they want for a while. Hopefully this Merger proposal will just die after a while. --doncram 13:08, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
- At 13:08, you redirected the Omaha article page: (Undid revision 610344068 by Doncram (talk) No reason not to merge)
- At 13:11, I restored the page: (There was an active merger proposal. It is contentious to unilaterally merge. Restore. Discuss at merger proposal.)
- At 13:13, you redirected: . (Undid revision 610344523 by Doncram (talk) Poppycock.)
- At 13:21, i restored: . (Undid revision 610344748. "Poppycock" is not a valid reason to over-ride merger proposal process. Discuss at Merger proposal.)
- At 13:22, in your fourth removal of all material on the page, you redirected: . (there is no "process")
- This was all explained later at the 3RRnb. I posted:
- There was a merger proposal pointing to the article Talk page, initiated by editor Gilliam in this diff. And I saw that editor Candleabracadabra had commented there, but the Talk page disappeared. Did editor Pigsonthewing delete the Talk page? I am confused why I cannot see the deletion. It is possible that I saw a different Talk page where there was a different merger proposal (which I believe was at Talk:Dundee Community Garden, but that doesn't show now either). Was that also deleted? I am suspecting use of administrator tools to confuse this matter. Either way, I created or re-created a Talk page at Talk:Community gardens in Omaha, Nebraska with a section for merger proposal and commented there, in this diff, at 13:08, 27 May. --doncram 14:16, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
- This could have been cleared up before the 3RRnb, if you had stopped and responded at a Talk page, as I called for you to do. Like you could have asked what merger proposal I had meant, in my edit summaries. You didn't question that. And then what happened was explained clearly enough at the 3RRnb.
So, technically I was incorrect twice, during a two-minute period. My 13:06 edit summary "There is a merger proposal" was not correct, and my statement "There was a merger proposal here. The page was deleted?" in my 13:08 creation/re-creation of the talk page was partly incorrect (there had not in fact been a merger proposal there before, although I already acknowledged some question about it). Since 13:08, all my statements that there was a merger proposal were correct, because there was one. You have many times since (all after that time) have been claiming that I was incorrect and/or challenging me to point to the merger proposal. I am not providing diffs for those. I didn't answer each time, because I was seeing you as being possible obtuse: it had been explained fully enough in the 3RRnb. Each time you asked, there was a proposal in place. You had in fact commented there. You had participated in the 3RRnb.
Allow me to say, also, that in general I am finding it really difficult to communicate with you. At the 3RRnb, you could have simply explained, yourself, that you were not an Admin and that you could not have deleted the page, but you chose not to. The communication problem is exacerbated by your not respecting me enough to answer questions. For example, at a number of AFDs you have not answered my question whether you have searched for sources, whether you performed wp:BEFORE. And instead you have seemed deliberately unhelpful, not answering, and sometimes at the same time making personal-sounding accusations. For example, this diff, the most current right now, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hill Farm Community Garden, in which you don't answer my direct question (did you perform wp:BEFORE) and you make accusation "is it possible that we could have an AfD discussion without you smearing other editors' integrity, canvassing or posting walls of text?" Ironic that you are smearing my integrity, in a complaint where you wish to assert that is what I have done.
You have made personal-sounding complaints, elsewhere, including that I had made "false allegations", which you do not explain when asked by me ("False allegations?"), within Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Community gardens in Omaha, Nebraska. And there also you suggest something nefarious about my using the term "far-away editors". Note that in my 13:08 posting of the merger proposal, quoted fully above, i had said "From afar, I preferred one list-article about all the community gardens in Nebraska." (emphasis added) I had used the faraway concept to apply to myself. So my using the term later was consistent with that. I tend to think you are sometimes not really reading what I say.
Please, tone it down, and assume some good faith on my part. Let's try not to be confronting each other so much. And I would appreciate if you could acknowledge that this answers your repeated question. --doncram 22:12, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

Missing past general authorities
In the discussion of the deletion of Larry Y. Wilson, you mentioned there are passed general authorities who you think could meet GNG who lack articles. If you could post a list or links about these either here or to my talk page that would be appreciated.John Pack Lambert (talk) 02:35, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- I created the article on Clinton L. Cutler and used the information to augment the article on D. Arthur Haycock. W. Grant Bangerter already had an article, you had just not written the link right to find it. June Dixon Oaks (you missed her first name in your quote), seems to only be notable as the wife of Dallin H. Oaks. She has not even made as many public contributions as his current wife, Kristen Oaks, who has in my experience been a much more public companion in his ministry. The Oaks team has been the most public in cooperating while giving CES Devotionals for example. I would suspect June Dixon Oaks was a fairly public figure when First Lady of BYU, but that alone would not make her notable. Patricia T. Holland, does have an article, an her being a public first lady at BYU helps, but she also was in the Young Women General Presidency, and has written books and given public talks. I would actually argue that the living wives of Presidents of the Church from 1918 to the present could arguably pass notability guidelines, but even with as public a figure as Jessie Evans Smith I am not sure that argument has been believed. I am not even sure if Marjorie Pay Hinckley has rated an article, and she was considered by some observers the most publicly known wife of a prophet since at least Emma Ray Riggs McKay. Flora Amussen Benson has an article, but this is more because of her husband being US Sec of Agriculture and me just being persistent than anything else. I actually think Camilla Eyring Kimball rates an article, since a major biography was published of her. The fact that it was written by her sister and her son should not be the controlling issue, since it was published by Bookcraft, which was independent from the Church at the time (although clearly seeking to be in doctrinal line with the Church). I have never gathered my thoughts enough on Camilla to be ready to face the barrage of attack I know creating an article on her would generate, but I think she was notable enough to merit an article.John Pack Lambert (talk) 01:04, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

NRHP potential
Noticed you are doing up the NRHP articles on Montana courthouses. For your benefit, I have uploaded File:Lewis and Clark County Courthouse 01.JPG, if interested. Part of one of the Helena historic districts, I think the downtown one. Montanabw(talk) 06:17, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Montanabw! In the past i did some courthouses included in List of United States federal courthouses and/or included in List of courthouse buildings in the United States and/or which were needed to support disambiguation of ambiguous titles like Lincoln County Courthouse. Don't recall specifically focusing on Montana ones. But anyhow I am not working in the NRHP area these days; the articles you're coming across must have been from a while ago. I see that you added your nice pic to the Helena Historic District (Helena, Montana). Glad you're keeping going, keep up the good work. --doncram 16:34, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

AfD Closure
Hi Doncram, what do you think about this (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Okta (company)) closure as delete? There were 5 keeps to 4 deletes and I think the keep arguments were stronger. --I am One of Many (talk) 16:13, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
- I think a decision could have gone either way. There is an appeals process that you could pursue, but then I would expect it could go either way again. You could request a copy of the deleted article to your userspace to further consider it. Offhand, the closure itself seems relatively poor quality to me because the closer did not explain anything at all. A balanced discussion by a closer of opposing arguments, about what they considered most important, etc., in a split situation like this one, would have helped. --doncram 15:36, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
- I agree with you on the article. My view was that the only reasonable close was no consensus. I hate to see a close like that, but I don't know if I would want to go through the headache of an appeal. Thanks for your opinion! --I am One of Many (talk) 16:03, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello Doncram. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Rankersbo (talk) 07:10, 25 November 2014 (UTC)Canadian dabstyle re Harrison Bay
Just an advisory, next time you have to do something similar for a Canadian title, be advised that comma-province is used only for settlements/towns/localities etc...for geographic objects use paranhetical dabs i.e. Harrison Bay (British Columbia), which I just moved it to.Skookum1 (talk) 12:10, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- For a bay, I wondered about using a parenthetical for the larger water body to which it is associated as for another Harrison Bay on the Beaufort Sea, but "Harrison Bay (Harrison River)" didn't seem descriptive enough, so I went with the province. I see that "Harrison Bay (British Columbia)" is preferred. Thanks for the note, User:Skookum1, and thanks for making the move. --doncram 13:27, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
Afds
Thank you for copy and pasting text into each and every AfD. I will not be withdrawing any nomination, and am preparing to add another tranche of similar nominations in due course. I believe that Wikipedia needs to tidy up wasted space, of which there are many, many, many "political parties". Thanks. doktorb wordsdeeds 22:10, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- To User:Doktorbuk, well, i had not in fact even noticed all the ongoing AFDs, but now you will have seen that I posted notice of commonality at 14 AFDs, e.g. this edit. Also to keep you informed, please note i have further posted notice, per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion#After nominating: Notify interested projects and editors, at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Politics/Political parties#ongoing AFDs on UK political parties, at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Politics of the United Kingdom#AFDs on UK political parties, and at Talk:List of political parties in the United Kingdom#AFDs on UK political parties. I hope you agree that this is appropriate. It's fine for you to have a different view than I do about these. I do think that one wp:MULTIAFD would have been appropriate rather than having multiple separate AFDs. But anyhow, do let's trust the community to come to reasonable decisions about these. --doncram 20:11, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
For Dummies
Friendly heads-up: if you change the section name again, I will not revert or otherwise get involved. I believe, as I explained on the RFC, that calling it a "List" puts what you have in violation of the spirit if not the letter of WP's rules about Lists and Indiscriminate trivia and the like, and not calling it a "List" allows much more wiggle room, so that your entries can be kept as is.
