Windseeker copy edit

Hi. I'mm looking at Windseeker with a view to servicing your request for a GOCE copy edit, but I see you are now semi-retired. Do you still intend to take the article to FAC? Also, are you the Dom497 on Commons? I've left a note on that talk page about a spelling error on one of the pictures, and the same problem occurs on File:Kings Island WindSeeker from Beast queue Break Down.png. ("countries" should be "country's). Best wishes, --Stfg (talk) 17:51, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Got Talent Series

The first step is to get 6 to 12 active editors. This is important. WikiProjects have effectively become inactive because there are not enough users. This page should be able to help you. Kingjeff (talk) 20:10, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

I ran across your GA review of Over the Limit (2010). In regards to the photo issue, I thought I'd tell you it is perfectly fine for there to be photos that are not from the event. The issue being as there is rarely photos from each show that are available to us. Take a look at Turning Point (2008), it features no photos from the event, however, it just became a Featured Article this afternoon.--WillC 22:39, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks so much for the review. As a side note, I do try to obtain images from the event itself, but it's extremely tricky, and I couldn't find any that didn't look suspicious on Flickr. Sometimes I'll luck out and find images of the incident that precipitated the feud or prolonged it or exacerbated it or whatever, but I didn't for the article, so I settled on portraying the wrestlers themselves for a little context in the article, and to break up the text aesthetically. Anyway, thanks again for the review and the pass. NiciVampireHeart 17:27, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

WindSeeker

Can you please fix the spelling errors Stfg pointed out here when you get a chance? There's no rush, but ideally those should be fixed before FAC (not to mention all the other stuff on the talk page and peer review). Thanks in advance. jcgoble3 (talk) 22:33, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Showbox cgt.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Showbox cgt.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:18, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Leviathan term

I thought mega coaster was an Intamin term? I don't think B&M uses the term Mega coaster. Besides, the label doesn't say Mega, it says giga here. A consensus just needs to be made on what it really is.--Astros4477 (talk) 00:42, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

YouTube

Saw your edit summary on Windseeker regarding the use of YouTube videos. While I would agree that copyright issues are always a concern and secondary sources are preferred, where is this "discussion" you say you had about deciding not to allow it? When you include that kind of commentary in your edit summary, it would be helpful to link to what you're referring to, especially when it's not a discussion on the article's talk page. GoneIn60 (talk) 02:40, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately, the link you posted didn't work, but I found the discussion in the talk archive for Windseeker. Here are some Wikipedia guidelines concerning YouTube and other video references: WP:YT and WP:VIDEOREF. As you can see, there isn't a rule against using them. It's just that most are self-published videos that likely wouldn't be accepted. With careful consideration, however, it's possible to use YouTube when other more reliable sources do not exist. GoneIn60 (talk) 22:17, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
OK, fair enough. Quite a few of us are trying to get other amusement ride and park articles at or near GA status. I was just trying to understand this situation, so I could try to apply it to others. Thanks for the info. GoneIn60 (talk) 02:26, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Windseeker height

Hi. The sentence you've just made in "Models" reads "The ride height can anywhere between 65 meters and 100 meters tall, though all WindSeekers are 92 meters tall.[49]", but FN49 doesn't support his. It only mentions 65 and 100 (not "anything between), and doesn't say that current ones are 92.

By the way, you often make plurals by adding 's, and this is never correct. The plural of model is models, and of Windseeker is Windseekers. Best, --Stfg (talk) 17:02, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Night Mares

If the Night Mares ride at Canada's Wonderland is the only ride with the name Night Mares then it should be "Night Mares (ride)" and not "Night Mares (Canada's Wonderland)". It's similar to a roller coaster article, putting (roller coaster) doesn't necessarily mean its a model, it just means there's not another coaster with that name. However, I didn't undo the revision because the chances of the Night Mares at Canada's Wonderland being the only ride named Night Mares is slim but just for the future, if it's the only ride with that name, it should just be kept with (ride) and not the parks name.--Astros4477 (talk) 01:10, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Speed City Raceway (Canada's Wonderland).jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Speed City Raceway (Canada's Wonderland).jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 20:35, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:CGT Audition Stage In Toronto.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:CGT Audition Stage In Toronto.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 20:36, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I've failed Starlight Spectacular (Canada's Wonderland) at GA, but please feel free to fix the problems and nominate it again. If you do, let me know and if I have the time, I will be happy to re-review it. --LauraHale (talk) 07:31, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

New pics

Hi Dom! commons:Category:White Water Canyon area at Canada's Wonderland... all but two of these are new uploads. I'm positive that when I visited last year, I took pics of the rafts going by in the Canyon ride itself, but I can't find them. I'm wondering if I've got a memory card laying around somewhere, lost. -- Zanimum (talk) 01:01, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Two Things

1. Why place all the delete tags on those Montana towns? 2. I need help understanding how I can get an article to GA status. Can you help? Oakley77 (talk) 01:25, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

That helped alot, but I really wanted to know how to review someone else's article, and physically designate a GA. Can you help me on that?Oakley77 (talk) 01:42, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

How does this look for a review? http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Politics_of_Vietnam/GA1 Oakley77 (talk) 02:00, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

For that last review, I used your "template", think it can pass as a GA?Oakley77 (talk) 02:23, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Also, all those Montana towns have been improved, maybe you can take off the delete tag?Oakley77 (talk) 02:48, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Like, I said, I used your review as a template, the comments are the same but the articles are different. And yes, I probably did rush a bit, because there are some articles that really need to become GAs. Now realizing I shouldn't rush, I will touch up the review a bit.Oakley77 (talk) 13:36, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Just wanted to notify you that because of my review, Politics of Vietnam was deemed a good article by someone else. Thanks for the help!Oakley77 (talk) 13:36, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed that you have the Rollback icon and a Good article icon at the top of your page across from your name, how do you get them there? I haven't contributed to the making of a good article but I have Rollback rights and I'm wondering how to get the icon up there. Thanks, --Astros4477 (talk) 22:02, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi! First create a page in your user space called: User:Astros4477/Menu. Once you have created the page, click the edit tap and enter this template in: rollback topicon|icon_nr=4 and remember to add the {{ }} on the left and right of the template name. Thank you! Btw you did a great job on the Wing Coaster article.--Astros4477 (talk) 22:35, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
To be honest, I'm planning on trying to bring it to GA status! Thanks!--Dom497 (talk) 22:37, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Dom497! I've responded to your comments on the Vanuatu Olympics page. I'm having an issue addressing the second comment, but otherwise, I should be all set. Thank you again for reviewing the article. --Starstriker7(Talk) 01:14, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for also doing the review on Bermuda at the 2008 Summer Olympics. I've worked to address your comments, and I believe I have resolved them. --Starstriker7(Talk) 18:02, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

2013 Cedar Point coaster

I'm not sure if we should include the information from the Sandusky Register about the 2013 Cedar Point Wing Coaster in the articles. It hasn't been confirmed by anybody and right now it's technically rumors. What do you think?--Astros4477 (talk) 19:30, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

There are markers all around Disaster Transport at Cedar Point, I have a feeling this "rumour" is good as confirmed.--Dom497 (talk) 19:45, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Ya I know they're all around that area, I was there on Monday. I'm just not sure if it should be included just yet because it hasn't been confirmed.--Astros4477 (talk) 19:48, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
I got an idea. If this coaster doesn't show up within the next 24 hours on RCDB, then it can be removed. Sound good?--Dom497 (talk) 19:52, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good, I'm actually surprised it hasn't yet.--Astros4477 (talk) 20:00, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Even though this is probably happening and the Sandusky Register as a whole is a reliable source, I'm leaning towards removing it from the article especially since this could be a problematic statement with the GAN. Themeparkgc  Talk  00:50, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
I say wait till about 4pm EST tomorrow (24 hours after I added the coaster to the article), and see if any other sources have picked up the topic. If nothing pops up, the info can be deleted.--Dom497 (talk) 01:01, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
I just did a search on google about the coaster and boy did a lot of results pop up! I don't think RCDB will add the coaster, but Screamscape might pick up the topic and maybe look more into it providing us with more details. Just my two cents.--Dom497 (talk) 01:20, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Screamscape will deffently have it. I mentioned on PointBuzz (Cedar Point's main forum) that it hasn't been posted on RCDB and someone replied saying that Duane (I assume the person in charge of RCDB) doesn't usually add a coaster until its been officially confirmed or construction has started. I have started an article for the coaster, feel free to add any information to it. I'll move it to being an actual article when it's confirmed by the park.--Astros4477 (talk) 01:50, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
You guys make the final decision...I will be busy for the next few weeks with CPT's and exams so I may not be able to come here that often for a while.--Dom497 (talk) 18:45, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Well I heard this from a reliable source on PointBuzz. They said they talked to Ouimet yesterday and they talked about it and Ouimet said its true. I feel we should add it. There are many reliable sources out there, such as the LA Times that are also reporting it.--Astros4477 (talk) 23:00, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
I say keep the info in the article at this point. Almost every website that covers news from Cedar Point has at least one article about the coaster. Also, any possibly names of the coaster name been mentioned? If so, I could use the name to play around with the cedar point website URL and see if the coaster has its own mini site.--Dom497 (talk) 23:04, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Not yet, I don't think Cedar Fair has filed anything. I read in one of the articles that Cedar Point will announce it later this summer, I'm sure the name will be leaked by then though. I'm going to move my article on the coaster into being an actual article, what do you think I should name it? I'm thinking CP Alt.Winged as that is the code name for the project.--Astros4477 (talk)
In my opinion, I don't even think you should make it an actually article yet. It is pure speculation right now. For all we know, Cedar Point might be trying to trick us (probably not the case but there is always the chance)! Also, back before Leviathan was announced, it was leaked the week before the announcement that the ride would be named Leviathan and the coaster layout was also leaked. No article about Leviathan was created until the day of the official announcement. If you do decide to make it an article, that's really the only name you can use. Also, the viewer ship of the Wing Coaster article jumped quite some bit yesterday showing that people are looking for answers to the rumour. Maybe Themeparkgc's input would benefit?--Dom497 (talk) 23:52, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I'd probably hold off for now. There are a few sources ([1] [2] [3] [4]) in addition to the original but probably not enough yet to go ahead with the article. They all point back to the Sandusky Register. As I said earlier, I'd prefer to have it removed from the Wing Coaster article for now too. By all means work on the draft and build it up using the sources that are available, but similar to Full Throttle it is only a rumour at this stage. By the way, Duane Marden is the owner of RCDB. You'll see his name anywhere you use {{RCDB}}. Themeparkgc  Talk  08:05, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Some suggestions

Highway designations should not be placed in italics in the body of an article, like you did with Texas Recreational Road 2. Also, it's not proper to unlink redlinks in an article if the subject of the link is notable and should have an article some day, as you did with Texas Recreational Road 3. Imzadi 1979  01:28, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Also, photos are not required for GAs... yes, they're preferred, but if the only reason to hold an article is the lack of a photo, you probably should pass the article. I just did a search with http://images.google.com for the roadway, and the only results are from real estate listings along the highway, none of which is freely licensed or our reuse. Those photos would also not be appropriate to use since the subject matter is of individual houses or properties and not the highway. Imzadi 1979  01:53, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
I know that. My comment said to try to find a image and if one could not be found, I will pass the article. You looked and didn't find anything, so know I would pass the article.--Dom497 (talk) 02:01, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
I have to remove your reference from M-13 Connector (Michigan highway). That is a self-published source, and by adding it, you have actually made the article fail to meet GA Criteria, specifically criterion 2b on the use of reliable sources. The self-published, "roadgeek" websites fail policy and can't be used in our articles. Thanks for the review. Imzadi 1979  00:49, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Westcoaster image request

I remember a while ago you received permission from the guys at Westcoaster to upload their photos to Wikipedia for the WindSeeker. I was wondering if you could please do the same for some Cars Land and Manta photos? I have created a list of 20 photos total and it would be great if you could upload them. If you're willing I'll post the list here. Thanks Themeparkgc  Talk  07:45, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Ha! I'm important for something for once!!! I'm just joking with you! Back on topic, when I sent the message to Jim Disney, he replied saying, "You may use the images under the CCA 3.0 license.. I'm not sure if that means any picture from West Coaster or just pictures regarding WindSeeker. I will send a message to him anyway for the pictures. If he asks for exactly what pictures, I will let you know so you can tell me the list.--Dom497 (talk) 14:30, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Passing GAs and the "paperwork"

You do know that you have to list articles on WP:GA when you pass them? I had to add M-13 Connector (Michigan highway) and M-19 (Michigan highway) for you. Nothing is listed as a GA officially until it's, well, listed as a GA. The bot might remove it from the nomination queue at WP:GAN for you, and add {{good article}} to the article so the appears, but the reviewer does have to add the articles manually to the correct sections of the list. Keep up the reviewing, but please get the "paperwork" done, ok? Imzadi 1979  18:21, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

To be honest, I thought the bot did that!--Dom497 (talk) 00:54, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Nope, how would it know which category to place it in? You were tagging them with the topic "Engineering and technology" instead of the subtopic "Transport", and even then, it wouldn't know if it was "Air transport", "Maritime transport", "Rail transport", "Rail bridges, tunnels and stations", "Trains and locomotives", "Road infrastructure: Other", "Road infrastructure: United States", "Road infrastructure: Northeastern United States", "Road infrastructure: Southern United States", "Road infrastructure: Midwestern United States", "Road infrastructure: Western United States", "Road transportation and policy", or "Transport by region". Using CGT's collapsable content on the AGT page

Hey, I noticed you were involved with the Canada's Got Talent article. Do you mind if I borrowed the concept of collapsing tables/sections and use it on the AGT page? It makes the page a lot easier to navigate through and works really well for these kinds of articles.

Thanks! Gamer9832 (talk) 00:14, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

No problem, go right ahead! CGT got cancelled last week so I won't be using that type of table again any time soon!--Dom497 (talk) 02:04, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. I'm sorry to hear it got cancelled :( Gamer9832 (talk) 02:12, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Don't be sorry, I was tracking the ratings of the show when it was airing and knew it wouldn't come back for a second season by the third airing week. :P --Dom497 (talk) 02:15, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi Dom. Just wanted to let you know that red links are perfectly valid in a Good article. In fact it is better to have a redlink than no link as it encourages people to make the article and when one is made they will all automatically be linked. The only reason to ask for the removal of a redlink is when the link leads to an place that is unlikely to ever be notable. Cheers AIRcorn (talk) 07:06, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Bolliger & Mabillard

Hey I noticed you were adding information to the B&M article, are you trying to get it to GAN? If not I think the article has potential and I'd be willing to help get it there.--Astros4477 (talk) 04:01, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

You read my mind! I had the idea of getting it to GAN a few months ago but I just never got to it. I just decided to give it a go now. And sure, you could help out! Also, were you looking at my main user page? I see yours looks like mine now!!! Haha, just joking around.--Dom497 (talk) 16:25, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Do you mind searching up some of the history of B&M's friction and magnetic brakes? I thing the brakes should be included in the features section of the article. I know Nitro was the first B&M coaster to use magnetic brakes but I couldn't find a reliable reference.--Dom497 (talk) 17:34, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Nope not at all. That might be a little hard to find but I'll try my best.--Astros4477 (talk) 17:38, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
I know, I tried for a bit but couldn't find anything. I just you to give it a shot just in case you find something I missed.--Dom497 (talk) 17:39, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
I found this, not sure how much it helps. I also found this, it explains the brakes and everything..--Astros4477 (talk) 17:41, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Good finds. Doesn't look like B&M bothered getting patents for their brakes...only water brakes. Interesting.--Dom497 (talk) 17:52, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
