Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Wendy Frew, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Southland. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:02, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nomination of 2024 Netball Nations Cup

[edit]

Hello! Your submission of 2024 Netball Nations Cup at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) at your nomination's entry and respond there at your earliest convenience. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! ~~lol1VNIO (I made a mistake? talk to me) 20:22, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, Djln19, please see the nomination's entry and copyedit the issues I have raised. Best wishes, ~~lol1VNIO (I made a mistake? talk to me) 17:34, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Djln19, as of now I, being a new reviewer myself, cannot pass the article with strictly speaking ~1250/1500 of the required character count for DYK. I say "strictly speaking" because the list Debuts and milestones is excluded from the character count according to DYK guidelines. Please remove the bulleted list in that section and adjust the content that was inside it so that it has a natural flow. This will artificially increase the character count to well over 1500 characters and complete the final obstacle to approval. Best wishes, ~~lol1VNIO (I made a mistake? talk to me) 18:29, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Lol1VNIO: Thanks for your feedback, but I'd prefer to leave article the way it is. It fits in with the format of other similar articles. Removing the bullet points just turns the section into a jumble of facts, making it difficult for readers to follow. I've submitted articles before for DYK and never had to jump thru these hoops. The length of the article is irrelevant. Plus why is the Debuts and milestones section excluded ? The only thing that should matter is the whether the DYK fact is interesting or not. Maybe, we should get the opinion of a more experienced reviewer. Djln19 Djln19 (talk) 19:20, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've requested a second opinion on the nomination's page yesterday and two editors have responded. The length of the article is a requirement (WP:DYKLEN) that is apparently very strict, as one of the editors noted. ~~lol1VNIO (I made a mistake? talk to me) 19:32, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict) Djln19, another editor has elaborated on why the lists are not included. It serves mainly to exclude External links sections and references from being easily manipulated to hit the established character count. It is well formalized to express every thought, every information, and every knowledge in prose format within academic contexts, including in Wikipedia articles. Your list can be turned into prose, as that editor exemplifies with their own rewriting. Please address these suggestions. ~~lol1VNIO (I made a mistake? talk to me) 20:26, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please see the talk page for article mentioned. I have withdrawn this nomination. Djln19 (talk) 20:34, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
