- Regarding this edit, I have a few pieces of feedback. First is that "dismiss" isn't one of our standard options in an AfD; perhaps you mean "keep". Second, you only get one "vote", so you're only supposed to have one bolded vote in the discussion. You can offer multiple comments (usually only prefaced with "comment" in bold if you're not otherwise voting). Lastly, if you're replying to someone specific, as you did with your second comment in the discussion, you should indent your comment under that other person's. Imzadi 1979 → 15:09, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
Excessive use of self-published sources
[edit]One or two footnotes in a different article isn't as big of an issue as relying on them for ~80% of the footnotes in a single article. Where I come from, that's considered excessive. Imzadi 1979 → 18:01, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

Caswell County, North Carolina
[edit]Hi, thank you for your nomination regarding Caswell County, North Carolina. I am grateful for your support :) Peabodyb (talk) 19:35, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
Thanks again :) One thing that could use assistance is the notables section. A cited reference after each notable person would be good to have. I think that is the standard. I started with some but the rest need to be done. I assume a reference should be on the person's Wikipedia page somewhere that shows they're from the county or lived there etc. It can be looked at, copied, and put in the notables section. Thanks so much for your assistance! Peabodyb (talk) 21:40, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
- Looking at some of the people on the list, most don't need to be cited. A lot of them have something mentioning Caswell County in some way on their Wiki page. Like Hazel Smith, which says he was born in Caswell County. Unless anything on the page mentions something that is not on their page (Like Birthplace and or raised in Caswell) then it should be cited. Looking at the current list, it seems good, but I can look more tomorrow. A common thing reviewers look for is unsourced facts which does not seem to be a problem for the page. Another is statements that may have some guess work in it (Like "The clouds look dark, it must be about to rain"). I would say to wait on looking for small issue like that until they start the review as they will make a list of possible problems. But yes, I can help find unsourced Notable People on the list.

Ok thanks so much :) Peabodyb (talk) 00:38, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
Hi, thanks. I put some citations already at the top as the info is introduced. Is that enough? If not can you possibly help me add some more in? Thanks 😊 Peabodyb (talk) 15:20, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
- I think it's good at the top. DiscoA340 (talk) 15:23, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, for the photo adds in the history section and elsewhere, if you could instead create a photo montage at the very top of the page etc, like they do for usually bigger areas. Because otherwise, people read about reconstruction etc, and there's photos about the 1930s. So I think a montage effect of various photos at the top could be cool and the photo additions could be placed there instead. I am not sure how to do it. Peabodyb (talk) 22:09, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- I understand what you're saying. Maybe the page could have a "Gallery Section" in it. I'll see what I can do. DiscoA340 (talk) 22:13, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks so much. I think it's in a great place now. I think we can sit back and see what the feedback is. Take care :) Peabodyb (talk) 22:52, 19 June 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Barnwell County, South Carolina, you may be blocked from editing. Again, please stop adding unsourced redlinks to articles and claiming they are "major water bodies" and so forth. If these places are "major", please find sources to support their existence. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:53, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
With this edit at Richmond County, North Carolina, you added the heading "State and local protected area", and then, "No major parks or protected areas". The Sandhills Game Land seems to meet this criteria. What was your specific source stating there are "No major parks or protected areas"? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:15, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for alerting me about this protected area, it should now be on the page. DiscoA340 (talk) 23:33, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Again, what was your source to support "No major parks or protected areas"? Magnolia677 (talk) 08:30, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- If there is a problem or I miss something important that you believe should be in an article, please feel free to add it yourself. Like everyone, I can miss things, including parks and geographical features. If I come across something I missed, I will always try to add it in later revisions. I don't see the need in continuing this conversation any further, Thanks for your concern but please leave me be. Thank you and have a good day. DiscoA340 (talk) 09:52, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- My concern again is that you continue to add unsourced content, despite numerous warnings. You have added "No major parks or protected areas" to numerous county articles, without citing a source to support the statement (and despite the fact it is untrue). Please stop adding unsourced content; stop adding redlinks without a source; stop adding "stuff you know" and other original research. Many editors have worked hard to create these county articles; your unsourced content and original research undermines their hard work, and lessens the reliability of these articles for Wikipedia's readers. Last warning. Also, GNIS is typically used to source geographic locations, and WP:ELP and WP:RSP list sources to avoid. Thanks for your understanding. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:09, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

- Without commenting too much on the merits of what has actually occurred but speaking generally, all claims on Wikipedia need reliable sources which explicitly support such claims. To make the claim that a county or town has no protected areas or major parks within its jurisdiction, you would need a reliable source which outright says "There are no major parks or protected natural areas in Richmond County". Magnolia is correct in suggesting that writing about things sources do not say is WP:Original Research. This is key for stating negatives, as, theoretically, there's an infinite number of things not located in Richmond County (or other counties) and if we aren't using sources which highlight the significance of something not being there, we could have endless ludicrous but technically true statements in about every article such as "Richmond County does not have any mosques, Jack in the Box restaurants, amusement parks, polar bears, brothels, universities, Toyota manufacturing plants, palm trees, oceans, people of Malagasy descent, nuclear power plants, Google datacenters, or international airports. Furthermore, the president of the United States does not live there, it is not mentioned in the Bible, and it is also not located in Antarctica." There very well may be something which a town or county doesn't have that a source might explicitly point out, such as no paved roads or a public sewer system, but you need the source to say that openly. -Indy beetle (talk) 09:52, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Indy beetle You have a point. I used the statement as a placeholder just to keep the section in the article so if I was wrong and there was a park I missed, there could be a section for users to place it in. I can see it was oversight on my behalf. Thank you and have a good day. DiscoA340 (talk) 11:09, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
With this edit at Greenville County, South Carolina, you added that the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area is a "National protected area". Perhaps I missed it, but where in the source cited does it say this is a "National protected area"? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:23, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- I did not make that citation, I only added the section title. DiscoA340 (talk) 21:29, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
