I have very little experience editing Wikipedia articles, so I apologize for the problems I may have caused.

Yes, I am co-editor-in-chief of Educational Studies in Mathematics. I think my changes were non-controversial - updating the editor info, the impact factor, and the description of the scope of the journal (which quotes the journal website). All these things can be verified easily on the journal website.

And I thought I'd start an article on myself, which I see now to be a no-no. And this makes sense. I don't know how to delete the page. I've contacted my university's communication office to see if they want to set up an article on me. I had put minimal information on the page yesterday, with the intention of substantiating it later -- so this also would have tripped the lack of prominence alert!

Hi Dave Wagner, Thanks for your reply. Getting started on Wikipedia can be tricky, edits by newcomers are most welcome. My response may have been a bit brusque, for that I apologize, see WP:BITE. I was in a bit of a rush and wanted to bring these issues to your attention before you did too much further work. Your changes to Educational Studies in Mathematics are probably OK, though protocol suggests that it would be best if you declare a COI and edited the Talk:Educational Studies in Mathematics page. However, trivial updates by editors with a COI seem to happen with great regularity.

About David Wagner (mathematics education) (which you have stated is about yourself), if the article does not meet the notability requirements, then it will eventually be deleted. To request deletion, see WP:HOWTODELETE. Having your universities communication office work on the article is likely a case of paid editing, which also has some rules, see WP:PAID. Please don't take offense if the article is found to be non-notable. It is not a judgement on you, it is a judgement of the article that is based on the criteria documented at WP:PROF. I worked as staff at UC Berkeley for many years and I found that there were plenty of excellent faculty that did not have a Wikipedia page. Partly, it depended on the personality of the faculty member, partly it depended on the focus of their research, and partly it was just luck. If you want to make a case for the notability of the article, you could update Talk:David Wagner (mathematics education) with reliable sources (WP:RS) that address some of the criteria listed at WP:PROF. I'd be happy to take a look at the sources and make updates.

I moved the conversation over to your talk page so that other editors will see it. For details about how to edit a talk page, see WP:TPHELP. The main thing is to start your comments by indenting with multiple colons and to sign at the end with four tildes. There is also a template that can be used to notify editors. In this case, because I edited your talk page, your talk page was added to my watch list so I'll get notified about any changes to your talk page.
