Notability (again)
[edit]Once again, a footballer is only notable if they play in a competitive match in a fully professional league. Just playing for a team that plays in an FPL is not enough. And I'm also concerned about the tone of some of the articles, such as Esoh Omogba, which has phrases like "Representing the Afemai, one of the most ubiquitous ethnic groups", "Omogba provided a transcendent performance for the team in a facile 5-0 triumph". This is not encyclopedic, and you've been blocked for it before. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:28, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Discretionary Sanctions Alert
[edit]Please carefully read this information:
The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.
Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you that sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.Ad Orientem (talk) 14:16, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
Final Warning
[edit]Hi Das osmnezz. It appears that many of the same issues for which you have been repeatedly blocked in the past are continuing. In particular your creation of articles about non-notable individuals and your use of un-encyclopedic language words and phrases. As a consequence I must warn you formally that if this continues you will either be blocked indefinitely per WP:CIR or subject to very stringent editing restrictions per the above notice. -Ad Orientem (talk) 14:38, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
Chadrac Akolo
[edit]Hi Das osmnezz, thank you for your recent edit to Chadrac Akolo. However in the edit you forgot to update the date line at the end of the infobox as well. See this edit as an example if it makes anything clearer. Thanks and happy editing Inter&anthro (talk) 05:38, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Notice: You Are Now Subject to Editing Restrictions
[edit]Per my earlier notice regarding discretionary sanctions and my final warning, both posted above, and due to your continued demonstration of problematic editing on BLPs, I am placing you under the following editing restrictions with immediate effect...
- You may not directly create any article about a living or recently deceased person as defined by BLP in the mainspace of the project. Any proposed new pages must be submitted as a WP:DRAFT to WP:AFC for review and approval.
- You may not make any edit to any article about a living or recently deceased soccer/football player without first having the edit proposed on the talk page of the article and then reviewed and approved by at least one editor with extended confirmed rights. When making an edit to a BLP article subject to this restriction you will name the editor who reviewed and approved your edit in the edit summary.
These editing restrictions shall remain in place for a period of one year from this date, after which your editing history will be reviewed to determine if the restrictions should be extended, modified or lifted. If any aspect of the above editing restrictions is unclear, let me know and I will clarify them. You are free to remove this notice from your talk page along with any other notices or warnings with the exception of your most recent unblock request. However, be aware that the restrictions remain in place until such time as you are informed by someone with arbitration enforcement competency that they have been modified or removed. This measure is being taken with great reluctance. However based on your editing history, which has included multiple blocks based on WP:CIR concerns, it appears to be the only step short of an indefinite block that will curb your poor editing habits. Finally these restrictions are being logged at WP:AEL and any breach may result in your being blocked, very likely indefinitely. -Ad Orientem (talk) 01:13, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
User:Ad Orientem can we discuss this editing restriction? It has been in place over 4 months now and is causing a bit of an AfC issue. AfC keeps reviewing drafts but there are now around 130 of these piled up unreviewed User:Das_osmnezz#List_of_drafts_created. AfC lacks football specialists or any way to categorize by topic, so I'm constantly running into football drafts I don't want to touch because I can't distinguish between RS for this narrow topic or if someone meets WP:FOOTY or not. Of course AfC is short of volunteers with an 8 week backlog. AfC is also under intense scrutiny because of WP:ACREQ. 130/2,154=6% of the backlog, or 4-5 days worth of our older unreviewed submissions, which is where most of these sit see Category:AfC_pending_submissions_by_age.
Since the editing restriction involves posting proposed changes to talkpages and getting (presumably) football savvy editors to approve the changes, how about you require User:Das_osmnezz to post his Drafts right on the Football WikiProject for subject matter experts to check, improve and move to mainspace or seek deletion on as necessary? Forget tagging for AfC, and remove the AfC tags from all the pending drafts. I believe this plan would cut the AfC backlog immediately, allowing us to deal with actual new editors in a more timely manner, while getting the right editors reviewing, improving and moving the Drafts. Can you buy into that idea? Legacypac (talk) 10:03, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

- Actually there is a process for review which is explained at WP:AFC, though not always in the clearest language. Also there is a special script which is used by AFC reviewers that allows them to do everything with a few clicks. Once a draft is reviewed the author is more or less automatically notified. There is a button on the script that allows for publication, decline or comment. -Ad Orientem (talk) 01:30, 22 November 2017 (UTC)

GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 17:28, 30 December 2017 (UTC)Hello, Das osmnezz. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, FC Soualiga, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Ways to improve Tshamala Kabanga

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. This article is not written in an encyclopedic style.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

[edit]Hello, I'm Jcc. I noticed that you made a change to an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. I've been reviewing your drafts and whilst notable, I'm slightly taken by your seeming lack of understanding of what constitutes a reliable source, especially given that you've been editing for some time. You should really read WP:RELIABLE. jcc (tea and biscuits) 17:42, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- Also article tone is still unencyclopedic sometimes. Phrases like "Harris had a transient stint there, getting dropped from the roster due to inconsistent playing time." are not wanted. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:43, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

Stop It
[edit]I want to remind you that that the editing restrictions I imposed on you are in lieu of an indefinite block for your well documented WP:CIR issues. Now it appears that you are flooding AfC with articles about people who are either not notable or whose notability is borderline at best. When your submissions are declined you make trivial changes that do not address the underlying problem and then resubmit them. People at AfC are starting to get irritated with this. Do not send articles to AfC about people who are not clearly and unambiguously notable. This needs to stop. Pay attention when experienced editors tell you what you need to do to get a draft approved. There are no more chances left if you can't manage this. -Ad Orientem (talk) 13:56, 7 March 2018 (UTC) |
- @Ad Orientem:: I moved some of my consistently declined drafts to my userspace where I can edit them.Das osmnezz (talk) 17:31, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- Ok. -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:34, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- P.S. Remember that you can fix quality issues, like grammar, spelling encyclopedic wording etc. But you can't fix notability. It's either there or it isn't. You might want to consider getting rid of drafts that have no chance of passing WP:N. See WP:G7. -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:39, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Ad Orientem:: What of the drafts- like Draft:Lee Sterrey and Draft:Anthony Magnacca or Draft:Keigo Moriyasu - clearly meet WP:NFOOTBALL – but are consistently declined? Das osmnezz (talk) 19:26, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- If the decline reason(s) do not cite a lack of notability, in other words the draft was declined for one or more reasons related to article quality, then you may continue to work on them. But if they were declined for lack of notability then that is a problem you will likely not be able to overcome. Sometimes one can find added in depth coverage from reliable secondary sources that can help ring the N bell. But usually a decline for want of notability is the end of the story. -Ad Orientem (talk) 19:55, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
